Stimulus Wasted and Most Americans Know It

A new poll by CNN, shows that almost 75% of Americans believe the “stimulus” wasted most of our money. There’s more:
- 63% of public thinks projects in plan were included for purely political reasons.
- 21% of people in poll say nearly all the money in the stimulus has been wasted.
- Only 4% think that no stimulus dollars have been wasted.
- 56% of the public opposes the stimulus
Joe Klein says if you think like this you’re just Too Dumb to Thrive. Klein believes we should be thanking The One for our big tax cut. Hey, I’m always in favor of letting people keep more of their own money, but if you’re looking to stimulate the economy we are doing the wrong kinds of tax cuts. Klein also ignores all the tax increases The Big O has planned.
Maybe people are a little ticked over how some of the “stimulus” money has been spent.
Some of your money has gone “to help fund nude simulated-sex dances, Saturday night ‘pervert’ revues and the airing of pornographic horror films at art houses in San Francisco.” (I guess that does “stimulate” certain Americans.)
$2.3 million has gone to help the hair stylists, nail technicians and massge “therapists” of tomorrow. (Americans won’t get their “happy ending” out of that one.)
Your hard earned money has been spent on toilets, rental cars, sediment removal and more!
Very little of the “stimulus” does much of anything to grow the economy and create jobs. Here’s a rundown of where the money has gone so far. This type of government spending never works. Government doesn’t create wealth. Every dollar they spend they have to take from you or borrow from our future.
We should cut income taxes across the board, cut corporate taxes so we go from the second highest in the world at 39.54% to the lowest in the industrialized world at 10%, and (for the next two years) cut capital gains taxes to ZERO. Watch capital and company headquarters flood America. Jobs will follow.
Less government. More freedom. Allow people to keep, spend and invest more of their own money. Let failing companies fail and stop trying to reinflate the housing bubble. It ain’t rocket science.

Porkulus, was nothing but a government savings plan. Tax coffers were running low throughout the country, so they take from us so our government myrmidons can remain worthless, and at the ready to continue their assault on the host, the American entrepreneur/people. We can’t have layoffs in government, what would Andy Stern say?

Over the last year, a large number of people have tightened their belts, and done more with less. Others have struggled to have a job and live at a level that barely supports a family due to layoffs, reduced hours and pay. At the same time the government has spent widely on a stimulus plan that failed miserably. When this burden is passed along to our children for many years to come, how will we recover?
The 2010 elections can't come soon enough.
This whole stimulus concept I find highly insulting.
I hear a lot of folks got their benefits package that included:
a watermelon, a box of Kentucky Fried Chicken and a package of condoms. I didn't get mine.
They must have taken me off the recepient list when they placed me on the dissident list.
Most of the so-called "STIMULUS" money hasn't even been spent. It shouldn't be !
Though I believe that it was also a lousy idea, at least FDR's WPA and CCC programs actually DID give people jobs; though much of it was money wasted on garbage too.
The ONLY thing that all of Obama's programs have done, is put money in the pockets of his elite supporters and/or been hidden in someone's secret bank account.
If anything…………………………all of Barry's crazy programs have LOST peoples jobs; thousands upon thousands of them.

How many people in Congress are going to carry on with this charade? The advancement of any policy, foreign or domestic, shall speak volume's about your local Senators and Representatives. Pay attention…Watch them….Hold them accountable for their actions…Write them….Call them….Voice you displeasure or praise…Do it often….Good or Bad don't ever stop being informed…! Don't ever give up on the thought that there is still life in this Republic…!

It's impossible to stimulate the economy by penalizing private sector employers. They are after all the only ones who create jobs that aren't dependent on tax dollars.

Or deconstruct. We have never in history deconstructed a government entity. I think it is time we as a nation think about how we can do just that. We can defund an agency but when a group of politicians that are advocates of the said agency are re elected, they just start allocating funds to it again. The nightmare never goes away. The "stimu-less" bill was co-written by Jeff Jones, co-founder with Bill Ayers (you remember him!) of the terrorist organization, Weather Underground. Ayers is busy right now indoctrinating kids in the Madison, WI school system. The Bamster has such sterling friends, doesn't he?

The picture says it all. Obama and his goons have no respect for the American people and their needs. They are like Saddam Hussein trampling the people while they dump the people's money and futures down the toilet. How sad that we are only at the 1 year mark of bearing up under the boorish and moronic leadership of this man-child Obama. But the silver lining is that maybe, just maybe, this administration will spawn the re-creation of both the true Democrat and Republican parties and flush the Progressives out of both parties. What really happened is 1.5 trillion last year and now another 1.5 trillion the obama gang just asked for so that is at least 3 trillion of your tax dollars that was stolen,

As usual, the devil's in the details… Lets do a double take on those numbers. Particularly 2 stats I find very interesting.

So….63% of the public thinks the plan was for PURELY POLITICAL REASONS…. Yet, only 56% of the public is against the stimulus. Can we surmise that (63-56=9%) 9% are on the take politically or in DA UNION? ie benefiting from the stimulus so they just plain "don't give a rat's ass" if it was only for political reasons. I'd be for making that 9% walk around with big red letter "A"s on their chests. And 'A' isn't for adulterer in this case….although it is the rest of us who are getting screwed.
Youall just aren't playing your cards right. I showed them my ACORN T-shirt and got $34,346 for a new bicycle tire so I could continue my paper route. That not only saved MY job, but all the jobs of all those LOVELY reporters. And then there's those advertisers in the paper and the people selling things in the want ads so that's a total of 535 jobs saved. Not to mention I was able to take out $5,000 and hire the kid down the street to do the route for me for a whole year. That left me with $29,346 to stimulate the economy. I haven't spent it yet, but plan to send $15,000 to Haiti. Now. If the government would just pay for my healthcare life would be complete.
How on earth does any one or country spend over $500 Billion dollars and not have anything to show for it? I mean really this is crazy.

As each of Obama's plans strained my credulity over the last year I was repeatedly reminded of the story of the Emperors new clothes just as Greg was. I have an MBA but simple common sense alone proves the economic idiocy of the health care plan, not to mention such incredible wastes of money like cap and trade. We have Medicare and Medicade already on unsustainable paths and the Democrats want to spend hundreds of billions on pork barrel projects and to hire even more government employees and school teachers to load down the States budgets even more in the future? It will never create jobs. And now that investors and ordinary folks are both too scared to spend money in fear of it being taken away (or a second economic crash since housing is still getting worse), the ONLY chance I see is, in fact, tax cuts. I don't think half way measures of any other kind will have any real impact. And that's doubly true for stupid tax cuts for child/eldercare or education spending which simply move ALL taxpayers money around to subsidize SOME taxpayers!

Anyone else notice that the current unemployment rate is significantly higher than Obama claimed it would be *without* the stimulus bill. Hmmm.
A proposal here in California to cut several thousand public jobs is meeting resistance from–guess who?–public employees. One attempt to garner sympathy and support for their cause came in a letter to the editor of the L.A. Daily News the other day. This public servant (who I have to commend for his honesty) said that his salary is over 100K/year, but that, like most everybody else, he has been living above his means so that he has no more disposable income than a guy earning 1/5 his wage. The upshot, according to him, was that if his job or his pay was cut he'd be forced into the bread line and the homeless shelter, and the State would lose out on all the revenues it would otherwise receive on account of his economic activities.
So I wrote a rebuttal letter to the paper, pointing out that his salary came out of the public coffers to begin with and that whatever economic benefit was derived from the direct taxation of his income or indirect taxation of his purchases, it did not represent any new wealth being brought into the State economy, but merely a shuffling around of money that was already there. Moreover, the amount received in this way would manifestly never equal the amount removed by his salary unless all tax rates were set to 100%. Then–and here's the part that is germane to this article–I said that even if one were tempted to imagine that his spending caused enough activity in the private sector to create new tax revenues in excess of his salary, one had only to look at any and every socialist economy in the world to see that that isn't true–socialist economies inevitably stagnate and/or shrink–or to the massive success that has been Obama's stimulus plan!
The paper, true to form, declined to print my letter.

Hey all you conservatives…a great read, "Rules for Conservative Radicals" by Michael Patrick Leahy. It gives us ammunition against the Saul Alinsky tactics used so effectively by the far-left!
I'm sorry but the entire stimulus idea was going to be a colossal failure based on the laws of economics (look up the "Broken Window" fallacy by Bastiat or austrian economics). The gov't cannot centrally plan the economy and know where to spend or "pour" scarce capital into the private sector. The entire stimulus theory is all based on flawed Keynesian economics that failed in the 30s and 70s. All of the "jobs created or saved" are complete red herrings ("seen") and distractions from what is "unseen" in the amount of new businesses that were not created, expanded, or pursued. Sadly, tax cuts (alone) would not have done much job creation since the amount of de-leveraging and liquidation of malinvestment. If massive tax cuts were issued WITH equal amounts of federal spending cuts, then that might have lead to a real and genuine recovery by now. However, now we are caught in this Keynesian malaise with the gov't threatening new industries and sectors each day. I fear that we are heading towards a possible default as a nation if spending is not cut dramatically in the next 3-4 years.
