Obama’s Found a Villain to Distract the Angry Voter
by Greg KnappThe voters are getting angry at The One. A majority disapprove of how he’s handling health care “reform” AND the economy. The AP reports that the billions spent on road construction has done nothing to lower unemployment. The “most popular government program” in years, Cash-4 -Clunkers was actually, predictably, a flop. Unemployment is way higher than they said it would be if we didn’t rush through the borrow and spend porkulus bill.
So, what to do to keep the rabble from voicing their displeasure? Blame someone else! Obama wants to tax the big bad banks. He says it’s to get our TARP money back and to reduce undue risks by the greedy bankers. The One wants you to believe that the big banks are the kind of guys who would take the last piece of pizza from the birthday boy at Chuck-E-Cheese (see above photo).
Obama has been strident in his criticism of bankers, calling them “fat cats” last month in an interview that aired on the eve of their visit to the White House. With public anger over the bailout still strong, Obama has embraced populist rhetoric in an effort to shame bank executives into paying back the government more quickly and their executives less lavishly.
At the White House on Monday, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs jabbed at the perceived disconnect between Wall Street executives and their customers. The spokesman said the disparity angered his boss.
“I don’t know anybody, save for a few that work for those banks, that don’t get visibly angry … in reading those stories,” Gibbs said. “I think they’re not listening to the American people.”
The banks deserve some blame, but the government is much more responsible for our economic meltdown. Obama isn’t even telling us the details of his ‘tax-the-bank’ idea.
The idea received an early boost from Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the top Democrat in the House, where there have been calls for a hefty tax on bank bonuses.
“While we have not seen any specific language from the administration, Congress will certainly examine any serious proposals to lower the deficit and recoup even more of the TARP funds for the taxpayers,” said Nadeam Elshami, a spokesman for Pelosi, D-Calif.
If the purpose is to get the TARP money back from the banks, that’s almost done. Most of the banks have paid it back and the rest are working on it. The money we’ve totally flushed away is the stuff we gave out after we turned TARP into a giant slush fund – the bailouts to the auto companies, AIG, Goldman Sachs, etc.
If the purpose is to get banks to quit taking outrageous risks, I have a better solution – When questionable investments put banks at risk of failure…LET THEM FAIL. That will temper risk. Failed banks will be broken up and sold off to sound banks. Let capitalism take care of it. Get the government out of it.
The real purpose is to distract the voters from the failure of the stimulus, boost Obama’s approval ratings and create a new tax to redistribute the wealth. It certainly isn’t a way to grow the economy. There is a much better and cheaper way to do that, but that’s for another post.

So the Economy DOES improve with more taxes and strangling regulation on the private sector.

Oh yea, after they put a gun to the banks head and tell them they ARE going to take the money, then here come the strings. This social experiment is not going to have a pretty ending.
While not a big fan of big banks, the more I hear about the outright fraud and manipulation committed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to misrepresent the quality of the loans they put out in the market, the more I think the government "owes" them some measure of restitution, much the way the Lemon Law protects car buyers. When there's an e-coli outbreak at McDonalds, they don't blame the restaurant, they blame the meat distributor who supplied the beef in the first place…
May I add, this administration doesn't need to listen to the American people because they think they are the people.
BO is constantly playing a game of Three Card Monty with our lives and freedom. His deliberate attempts to misdirect the citizens attention from one supposed threat to another is a criminal activity that must be stopped. His house of cards must be knocked down.

Article 15 of the Constitution clearly states: The President shall, at his discretion, impose a tax of any amount at any time on any lending institution that lends money to people who don't pay it back. Obama is just keeping us safe from people with money. It's his duty.
Heck, it would leave us with a surplus in under six months!
Big banks are another boogeyman of Liberals. If they raise taxes on them, where do they think that money will come from, the money trees planted in the vaults? If the government does something this stupid (ka-ching!), it just means all those bank fees will go up even more. They'd probably install a toll gate at the drive-thru…

We the freedom loving believe in the power of democracy, so they create czars to initiate illegal policies that have not been voted into law and will dilute the educated voting public by allowing criminals and illegals to vote. They will dole out huge sums of hush money to buy voting blocks, they will legalize illegal activities to insure more voting automatons. They demonize everything that that supports our ability to remain free and be able to maintain our independence. They listen very well, look for them to use more and more force to quell our voices.

The president isn’t “handling” anything. He won’t even talk about health care, and he still doesn’t have a ‘plan.’ All there is are those two bills they’re going to darn together like an old sock. He’ll sign anything.
Does he care about the economy? Which part? The part he already owns or the part he’s destroying?
The voters are angry. Big deal. They were angry before the election. Voters should’ve stopped being angry and used their brains, thought a little; then we wouldn’t be in the mess to begin with.

This would be a really good move, but what else have we come to expect from this socialistic administation. This would be another one of those it ain't a tax taxes. It does make sense though, lets allow the banks to repay the taxpayer's money using the taxpayer's money, since the "bank fees" will simply be passed on to the customers who are the taxpayers. In a video on Biggovernment.com Dr. Thomas Sowell stated that intellectuals lack the necessary "consequential" knowledge and this is a perfect example. No one in the Obama administration, including the mesiah and chief himself, have any real world business experience, or ethics (But that's another post).
While broke and corrupt Fannie & Freddie are still allowed to pay BIG BONUSES to thier execs and still contribute campaign contributions to politicians………….No politician complaining here!

The Government and Fannie and Freddie are all one and the same. Barney "What Planet?" Frank and Chris "Sweet Deal" Dodd helped craft and force the rules that MADE Fannie, Freddie and loads of other institutions have to write loans that they knew would have a high chance of turning out bad. The Government made the problem, not the banks.
Obama can't let the banks fail. That's silly, because it goes against the grain of his marxist/socialist agenda. Prop them up – or better yet, nationalize them – and then take their profits to give to those who won't…I mean can't work. Karl Marx was wrong. It has nothing to do with ABILITY to pay, it's all a matter of just taking it anyway, regardless of ability.

FIRST, congress makes the rules that FORCE the banks to lend money to people they KNOW can not pay it back under threat of "racism" "attacking sponsors and shareholders" and "picketing their banks." THEN the congress cries "predatory lending" and the taxpayers are forced to bail them out. It seems like Mikeyh0 was being sarcastic and his Article 15 comment was meant as a joke. There's absolutely nothing in the Constitution that allows the President to impose a tax – which was Mikeyh0's point.
He is messing with the wrong group and will pay the ultimate price at our expense. If he thinks the banks are being tight with loaning money to the people now just wait until he imposses this tax and the tighten the credit market even more. It will send this economy to a staandstill.
This whole thing reminds me of the Roman Senate and their disconnect with their constituents. Of course, that was right before Romes downfall…

He was pointing out (through the use of sarcasm) that there is nothing in the Constitution that gives the President the power to impose a tax. It should be clear from his final sentence that in no way was he serious, or that he believed that there was an "Article 15" that contained the language he wrote. He was simply making his point in a clever way.

Hey all, how about this? isn't taxing the banks the same as raising interest rates without saying you are raising interest rates? The Fed does not want to raise interest rates so the public does not stampede on inflation fears, so doesn't taxing the banks send the money into the US Treasury, who turns around and sells bonds to the public who turns around and sells them to the Fed?

I've always had a problem with C4Clunkers. It goes against simple supply and demand logic. We're pushing new cars into a market already saturated with countless used and repossessed cars (i.e. repofinder.com). Now new cars depreciate faster, more Americans are in debt, and more repossessions are on the horizon.
