Urgent Appeal — Please Help Us to Help the People of Haiti!
by Eric HaymesI reached out to Andrew Breitbart over the weekend with a simple plea: Haiti needs assistance. Can you help? Within seconds, I had the answer I was hoping for — a resounding “Yes!”
I own a jet charter service that operates a fleet of Boeing 737s. Haiti needs medical supplies, surgeons, nurses, rescue workers, food, water and the only way to get it there quickly is by air. Haiti needs to Medevac the critically injured to US hospitals, and orphans need to be flown to homes in the US. The vital link in all the countless ways people are providing help in Haiti is air transportation.

This is our mission, to support the ongoing relief effort in Haiti with air transportation logistics.
We have three Boeing 737’s and two King Air turbo props. What we don’t have is fuel (yet).
We need you. We need immediate donations to cover our fuel and related expenses. Fuel costs money.
Please visit www.airlifthaiti.org and give. Time is of the essence and many lives are precariously hanging in the balance.
Andrew Breitbart’s passion and enthusiasm for this project as well as his many connections to people in all walks of life, and his dedication and hard work are nothing short of inspiring.
Please join with us in this, the noblest of all missions — saving lives. To maximize our impact, we are working closely with, and supporting, MedaShare and Feed the Children.

Some of your favorite bloggers from biggovernment.com, bigjournalism.com and bighollywood.com are rolling up their sleeves and will be traveling with us, not just as embedded writers, reporters and videographers, but as volunteers to work alongside the many other heroes who have found their way to Haiti.
You can contact us at info@airlifthaiti.org.
Thank you in advance for anything you can do.

**UPDATE**
We understand the difficulties getting aircraft getting in and out of Port-au-Prince, that is why we are working in concert with the organization already on the ground. We are providing the logistic support for these relief networks already functioning in Haiti; we move at their direction.

While I agree on the tax side, I'm going to trust that AB + BG + blogger volunteers have vetted properly. I don't mind giving a little more if I know that this will finance our friends here to volunteer.
Anybody that has been here for more than fifteen minutes, knows that I have been on this site since day one. I normally jump in where angels fear to tread, and am usually the first one over the hill. I wholeheartedly support Andrew Breitbart, Mike Flynn and everyone else here at Big Government, but I reckon I'll sit this one out.
While the motive might be pure, it doesn't ring true to me nor pass the smell test.
I think everyone on this board is familiar with that argument, and if not there are plenty of places to engage in the debate.
This thread is a appeal for help – if you want to help – help.
Yea right Eric you moron,
Millions of Americans, starving, no job, killing themselves and their families,
white kids not getting adopted but the writer of this blog says
Yea let's give this french POS country that for decades is known to be a drug producing island where 10s of thousands have broken our laws breaking into this country and now this moron who wrote this blog says Frick Americans
let's get more negro shipped here, lets get those drug addicts here, we love them and
SCREW staring kids, let's all donate for the world's kids, hey why not ask us to shoot every white kid in this country
Well we finally see what scam this Andrew Breitbart is really all about.
So lets review
in less then 24 hours obama sent 100 BILLION tax dollars down there ( while our service guys are dying, no support)
Told 50,000 of them here illegally they now are here for good ( shipped them to MA to vote)
blowing billions in tax dollars in support, shipping kids up here to adopt ( notice not one is white)
I'll pass too. America's wounded warriors get what little I have to spare. The left's contempt for our military is unforgiveable.

I've sent to the Red Cross the day after the quake!
I have people on the ground in Port-au-Prince from my foundation and I can assure you the military/UN peacekeeper/police/Red Cross presence is non-existent. The westside of the town is receiving absolutly no aid. Large bureaucracies move very slowly, small groups of generous people move much swifter and can get relief without the red tape, I urge you donate because you know your money is going directly to the cause.
"I urge you donate because you know your money is going directly to the cause."
With all due respect; no, I do not know that.
I believe that AB vetted this person. I can't give right now – wish I could. Good luck!!! This is the first time I've seen an appeal to us Righties and so I trust that AB vetted this person. Good luck! I know that people WILL give to you! Americans are VERY GENEROUS!
For more than 100 years, we ( America and Americans ) have donated money and time to the people of Haiti. The results from that, including our Marines being there, to try to help that nation, from 1915-1934 ?
Haiti is a hellhole, more than 1/2 the population is illiterate, and it's still "THE POOR MAN OF THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE".
How much is enough?
And the "help" NEVER reaches the people; it winds up in Swiss bank accounts and/or the pockets of thieves/thugs.
Clinton* and Obama have already taken my share and flushed it.
*Clinton restored Aristide, the thieving, Marxist thug to power and poured money into Haiti.
THIS LINK WORKS PEOPLE!!! I know the other one did not! THIS ONE DOES! GIVE GIVE GIVE!

Americans ARE generous, and if we as conservatives are going to argue that private companies are better equipped to provide services than the government is, we had better be willing to support those companies when they are stepping up and contributing – all without the IRS confiscating the money to fund them! The best argument against government solutions to problems is a demonstration of the generosity of Americans who give freely and private companies who operate efficiently and effectively.
This is an opportunity to help suffering people.
This is an opportunity to SHOW the compassion and caring that conservatives feel.
This is an opportunity to actually DO something to help and not just preach about it.
This is also an opportunity to make an emotional investment in a story, in a people, who have desperately suffered under quasi=Marxist totalitarian rule while the left in our country have encouraged it.
Let us help these people, and then, let us engage in a real and open discussion about our failed policies of the past, and our new investment in Haiti's future. How America can be a light to these people and we can USE our influence to encourage a free, open and democratic society.
And who are you? Even Wyclef Jean is now being investigated. While this pulls at the heartstrings and brings out the best in people, it also opens the door to nutbags and scammers. While I admire Andrew Breitbart as a journalist, I do not expect him to check out charities or solicit donations from me.
Haiti needs help to recover from a disaster, alright. …but the disaster wasn't an earthquake.

You won't be able to help them until you understand why they're in the current situation.
I'll throw out a bet – my guess is the United States will rebuild Haiti before they ever get around to erecting any sort of memorial at Ground Zero. Just my sense. And by the way, I did give, what I could and to the organization of my choice.
If an individual wants to help voluntarily that is their business. The US government has no business in Haiti. Where is the money coming from? Last time I looked the US was broke. Are we sending goods/services on China's dime, or is it just funny money the Fed baked in the last T-Bill auction? Besides, money will not cure Haiti's problems. They are a people who have not demonstrated any ability to govern themselves, and short of a US takeover and making them part of a welfare state, there is really no hope. I know this sounds tough and heartless, but sometimes reality is that way.
Why should anyone help them when they don't want to help themselves. They get enough of my money already. Between income taxes, embedded taxes, gas taxes, sin taxes, sales taxes, and state taxes I just don't have anything left to give. And I won't give any more. I worked hard for my money and I am SICK AND TIRED of other people telling me I should give it away to a bunch of machete wielding savages! This is my line in the sand. My money, I earned it, I'm keeping it!
Entering a new phase of the relief effort.
The emergency rescue phase is winding down – sadly, if the rescuers couldn't get to survivors by now, there are no more survivors, unless they're just trapped, not badly hurt and rescuers can get water and food to them while they are being dug out. Few few. So need for rescue specialists is dimishing quickly. No trick to that, just reality.
So next phase is the welfare of the displaced population – clean water, food, shelter, SANITATION. Probably a number of Haitians have left the partially demolished city for the family farms outside the city, taking care of themselves. Dominican Republic is the other half of the island, they doing nothing? Doubtful.
Big long term project: raze the destroyed areas and rebuild (better one hopes). Need heavy machinery construction companies to do that right and fast.
I just recently started posting comments, but have visiting BG for months after discovering it. Cowboy Logic, you are honest in your self-assessment of where you stand on issues. I always take time to read your comments and find that once again, I COMPLETELY AGREE with you.
My heart hurts for all of those in Haiti.
Maybe he could contact a French web site…I am sure they can provide better support than all of the jackels and infidels here in the U.S.
I do have a real problem with the Administrator deleting my earlier post. There was no profanity, No insults just my strong opinion on giving money to other countries when we the people that live here are denied basic things such as food stamps because we are the wrong race. Man up Brietbart. Complaining about leftist censorship does not hold up when you do the same thing. Counting down until this is gone. 3,2 1
I would have to support you on that. I read your post; there was nothing wrong with it, no profasnity, nor nothing disrespectful. It has been rare when I have seen that happen, and I always ask myself "why"?
I agree with you, StageRight, and was ready to donate until the online donation button was not ready. Hopefully that will be active soon.
AN opportunity to SHOW the compassion and caring that conservatives feel? Say what?
DId you not know that CHristian churches run orphanages, maternal child health clinics, rehabilitation clinics for the disabled, schools and trade training in Haiti, amongst other helpful long-term commitments, and that conservatives and Christian churches donate regularly for YEARS to keep these charitable works operating?
Seems the Progressive LIberal Left has something to prove, not conservatives. And jettting in the Clintons (separately) to hog ariport runways is not only not helping, it's HINDERING relief efforts.
By all means help the people of Haiti. They need it!
But, please, do not bring lots of Haitians to the U.S. unless you will ensure that they return home once their medical treatment has been completed. We have too many immigrants (both legal and illegal) at the moment — the last thing this country needs right now is more immigrants!
People have a right to be skeptical. I did a Google search, and couldn't find anything on this organization or Godspeed Aeromedical. Neither Godspeed nor the Wellbeck Foundation are listed on Charity Navigator.
Yep. I saw that too, and don't like it. Your comment was fine. It merely echoed my sentiments, although not quite as loudly.
Good Lord Woman!
Read what you just wrote. You know that anyone who ever comes here, NEVER leaves. They get on the Government Teat, become registered Democrats, and live in high cotton in the land of milk and honey. While the sentiment is nice, the emotional aspect is how we always get screwed. Don't bring them here. If they need a place to go, send them to GITMO.
Why don't you offer Haitians free flights to Senegal where the president has offered free land to Haitians "repatriating" themselves to Africa:
Senegal offers land to Haitians that want to come
Sorry, but my money is going to the American Vets that protect my country…have a good day
Sorry folks.
Hate to bring you bad news.

If you bought this story, I have a three peckered billy goat that is trained to jump hurdles, and is a guar-on-teed winner at the World Equestrian Games.
Watch the vid. It doesn't pass the smell test.
I can understand if a post is deleted if it contains profanity, incessant character attacks, etc.
I'm not happy to see comments that I may or may not agree with be deleted for no apparent reason. I've been seeing that more and more here unfortunately. At first I thought they were deleted for the above reasons. That is until I read some and saw them deleted later. Some of these deletions are a bit hard to fathom and it certainly isn't a good omen.

For more than 100 years, we ( America and Americans ) have donated money and time to the people of Haiti. The results from that, including our Marines being there, to try to help that nation, from 1915-1934 ? This nation only got worse.
Almost nothing is getting through, to the people in need, now and private American charities ( there's news out of Texas about this ) are being held back from going.
My first comment was deleted also……why? Because it was the first post?
Why don't you hit up all those "VIPs" that you fly around at $15K an hour for some cash? No, of course not, ask the "little people" who are desperately fighting a domestic communist takeover with their freedom at stake. Get this through your head: We don't have any more money! The government has stolen it all from us and the next three generations! No one cares about Haiti because right now we are fighting for our OWN survival. They want to have dictators and live in squalor? Goody for them. Not our problem. We have enough things to deal with already without draining our meager bank accounts for some save-the-world, do-gooder, pipe dream. You can't save Haiti until Haiti decides it wants to be saved. History has shown that it doesn't.
GREAT, GREAT, GREAT POST!!!
If we can do what we did in Iraq in Haiti, it would be a lot more effective than what we did in Iraq, the consequences that we have yet to see, I'm sure of that!
Injun Joe, I'm sorry to say that you are probably right on the mark!
Same thing happened to me and there was no criticism or bashing of anyone. In fact I said if they ever got the credit card donation straightened out I would donate.
Mr. Eric Haymes:
I am not going to let this drop. You said:
"Some of your favorite bloggers from biggovernment.com, bigjournalism.com and bighollywood.com are rolling up their sleeves and will be traveling with us, not just as embedded writers, reporters and videographers, but as volunteers to work alongside the many other heroes who have found their way to Haiti."
Who?
I see there are 1,400 flights backed up, headed to Haiti. What will give you special clearance, and special priviledges to land?
I am not buying your plea, nor your story. It is time to put up, or shut up. I think you are using Breitbart's good name to feather your own nest. I smell a Beverly Hills Charlatan, and opportunist.
It is time to come clean. Put up, or shut up.
This thread will not get buried in the archives.
Keep Haiti in your hearts on Valentines Day! Instead of a traditional card, I’ve posted a photo of my better half on the Haiti: Wall against Hunger – at http://wall.wfp.org
Want to donate to charity, but don’t have the money to?
As a student, I always wanted to donate to charity, but I never had enough money. Now, with all of these global problems like the economic crisis occuring, it’s even harder.
I made the solution, which is you just complete 1 survey, and with the money you make from that, I will donate it all to UNICEF. Please just do ONE GREAT THING, and DONATE FOR FREE!
Your ONE SECOND SAVES ONE LIFE!
