Massachusetts Voters Decided To Make A Stand, But Is It Enough To Save American Healthcare?
by Dr. Elaina GeorgeIt has become clear that health care reform in its present state has nothing to do with delivering quality healthcare to the American people.

The idea of universal coverage, with protection against insurance company wrongs (e.g., denying patients for pre-existing conditions and limiting the insurance company’s ability to deny coverage when you really need it) has been the sheep’s clothing cloaking a bill designed to destroy our healthcare system. In short, the proposed healthcare reform will doom us to a future that has the potential to make us sicker by limiting our access to screening exams such as mammograms, and limiting our access to physicians while making us pay more for the privilege.
The vote in Massachusetts was a stand against those in the government who are bent on telling us that they know what is best for us. I have been astounded by the complete contempt in which those in power hold the American people. A majority of the people in this country think the healthcare reform effort is going in the wrong direction. Although the vote in Massachusetts made it clear that there was major opposition to the current bill, I have doubts that the voices of the majority will be heard and this debacle will be stopped.
We have a chance to stop this and get it right. If The Congressional healthcare reform bill passes we will be saddled with:
- An enormous government bureaucracy run by a universal healthcare Czar that will ultimately decide what will be covered. The Czar will be the arbiter on whether or not you get needed medical care like a hip replacement or gene therapy.
- A commission appointed by the president that will decide what treatments will be allowed for what diseases. (The commission is mandated to have only one physician.)
- A government run committee driven by evidence based medicine that will decide clinical outcomes. If the expected outcome is not achieved then the provider will not be paid.
- A government able to decide whether a hospital will be paid for services rendered For example, if a patient is re-admitted to a hospital in a shorter time than the government deems appropriate, then the hospital will not be paid. It does not take into account how ill the patient may be.
For an excellent synopsis of the most egregious portions of the House bill HR 3200 read the blog by Peter Fleckstein.
Although Scott Brown’s election should be seen as a win for opponents of healthcare reform, we need to watch for actions that may be working against the rhetoric. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time that Congress pushed through an unpopular piece of legislation that people were adamantly against – does TARP ring a bell? Maybe the writing is already on the wall. On the one hand you have some in Congress saying that the healthcare reform bill is dead, but Senator Reid has recently come out with the statement that it would take about 10 days before Senator-elect Brown would be seated in the Senate….plenty of time for more backdoor deals, and arm twisting to happen.

Could Pelosi be that disconnected? YES.
Is Obama's plan to bring down the economy under its own weight of fiscal ruin work? NOT IF WE ACT SOON ENOUGH.
Is it soon enough? MAYBE NOT.
To the author, it was an excellent article.

I would tend to agree with you, it is not watch what they say, it is watch what they do. With sleight of hand experts, and three card monte dealers, on must always watch the other hand, and peer beneath the curtain, to see the unseen hand of the puppeteer.
Where is George Soros anyway, these days……………?

Overhead pullings strings where he usually can be found.
The importance of this year in politics is not to be overstated – the existence of America itself is in jeopardy.
Luckily the bloom is off the rose for Bama, my guess is he's such a narcisist that he will still be ramming things in our faces. If Congress wakes up – and I think some there are – then we have a slim chance of preventing further damage to our institutions. I have no faith that this will happen until after Nov.
I won't put ALL of my faith in Scott Brown. He has the weight of many people on his shoulders hopefully he won't buckle.
I want to know what Rahhhhhhhm is doing.

Hopefully that back door that's seen so much use is about to fall off it's hinges.
(are twisted arms covered by Obamacare?)

In 2700 pages, there is a lot more than coverage/insurance/prescription drugs/not denying pre-existing conditions and all of the things being talked about. It will control who goes to medical school, where they work after they go to school, how much money they can earn, which 'medical training facilities' get funded [by your tax $], who gets actual treatment. And tie all this together with SEIU et al being in control of nearly every person who provides practically any type of service that is even remotely related to "health care". There are so many things in what the progressives want to do in this mess that will collapse our country. Add it all together, see what it looks like going forward. Do everything you can to stop it.
I didn't even mention the monetary cost. That is just a side issue.
Where are the heros supporting the Constitution? <—An aureate question!
"It has become clear that health care reform in its present state has nothing to do with delivering quality healthcare to the American people." — Dr. Elaina George
I'll give you an Amen on that Dr. George !!
We have always had health care. Doctors always send bills. I have never had a doc send me a bill for someone else. That is the only change besides rationing I see. I don't want to pay for other people's healthcare.
Custer was an egomaniac who underestimated the Lakota and overestimated his own abilities. The Democrats don't have the bravery or the organizational skills or the honor, even, of the Lakota. They have numbers, yes, but more of those number are afraid they have over-reached.
Brown will get attacked, but that's expected. he'll be fine.
I know I'll sure miss the part where premiums go up; coverage goes down and 'Sweet Nancy Pelosi' gets to decide if it's 'conservatives' or the 'liberals' who are allowed on the annual 'Heart Bypass list of 100!'
Thank you for being honest Dr. George. The real hurt will be felt in Hospitals, Clinics, and Doctor offices around the country, if this health bill passes…..because the public option will be worse than Medicare or Medicaid……thus bankrupting and closing many hospitals all over this country. Medicare pays about 80% of the going rates, and Medicaid pays only about 70% of the going rates…..as they expect those of us with health insurance should subsidize these programs. But, how many hospitals have closed in Chicago over the past 20 years — try 27!!! How many are almost bankrupt today in Massacheusets???? several……… so how do we expect to kep these hospitals open with 70% payout ratios….when costs will most likely skyrocket, if SEIU unionizes all healthcare workers like government employees????
Excellent article. We have to continue to pay attention. I don't think Obama, Reid, Pelosi et al have any intention of not shoving this through somehow.
WoW!
"Custer was an egomaniac who underestimated the Lakota and overestimated his own abilities. "
Now THAT was profound.
Sounds like someone else currently in power, eh?
We are all Lakota' now.
Dr. George, How can you, a black, female, doctor, dare put on display, for the whole world to see, the audacity of "nope?" i guess you know you are no longer on the "a" list. Thanks for being there and spreading the news instead of more manure–we're not all farmers.
Self preservation-It's what pols do.The current bill goes nowhere. The progressives are very patient, kind of like al queda, so we will have to be vigilant.Browns' victory (using movie scripting) is the Calvary coming over the hill to save the day.
Most of these senators look like they have one foot in the grave and one on a banana peel. They have been rode hard and put up wet, and they have the gall to think they know what is best for us……what a laugh.
He is playing tiddly winks with Michelle.
This isn't going to make it through. Until America shows overwhelming support, this bill will not make it. None of this will go through & the Dems know that now. They want to focus on the economy but that will backfire as well. They just don't understand we want them out of our lives as much as possible. If they do pass healthcare does the patient/doctor trust go out the window when the doctor has to report back to the government? Will they know what your doctor has taken an oath of privacy? We have our eye on Nancy & the rest of the bunch. They won't pass anything without a fight. In Texas we don't like fighting with our words too much. We're more an action kinda bunch down here.
The suicidal intensity that Obama, Reid, and Pelosi have in pressing this quest to foist an unpopular health care monstrosity onto the American public suggests that there are yet unknown drivers of this garbage. They have a death grip on these fools. Their fear of us is less than the fear they have from the orchestrators of this planned debacle. It is unimaginable that the known promoters of this disaster are unaware of the ire that this has raised. Something stinks. Does this conspiracy theory have legs?
Custer didn't have 190,000,000 Americans that have his back. BO & the progressives don't get that.
Brown won so it appears the health care is on hold, but don't believe it.
It only takes a small breeze to get Olympia Snowe to vote with the liberals. They'll woo her with whatever it takes and she'll fold.
The health care fight is not going away. The dems can't afford that.
Custer wore an arrow shirt.
“Anyone who considers protocol unimportant has never dealt with a cat."

I'd say the politicians are beginning to get a taste of how deeply a cat can claw.
Obama didn’t learn anything from his defeat in Massachusetts. Obama looked the camera right in the eye and told America that it didn’t have anything to do with his healthcare plan. Pure arrogance !! Pride goeth before a fall.
Simple, I decided not to drink the kool aid – Thanks for the words of encouragement!
probably prancing around the white house in his tutu…
Nice article Doc … keep up the good work!
You know what infuriates me the most? That the majority of people on conservative blogs saw all of this coming down the pike long before Obama was ever elected. We knew if Obama or some other Dem got into the White House the proverbial crapola was going to hit the fan, almost nobody listened. America needs to stop voting with their eyes and start voting with their brains. Theoretically Obama is supposed to be some sort of super stud model but everytime I see him or hear his whistling voice I wanna puke. If he's the epitome of what's coming ouf Harvard thank God I didn't graduate from there.
MASSACHUSETTS "TEA PARTY" VOTERS: WE LOVE YOU!!!
One of the reasons this "sheep's clothing" hrey the legs that it did is that the Republicans allow the Democrats to define and label the issue.
Who the hell would be against reforming the high cost of health care, so let us campaign for "HEALTH CARE REFORM" Obama tells Harry and Nancy.
But let the real intention of this endeavor never see the light of day until the Republicans become too intimidated to rescind it when they come into power.
Tea anyone? One lump or two lumps?
The Mazz-a-chew-zits voters did make a stand.
So did Custer.
Scott Brown is about to find out exactly how Custer felt.
I believe the American people are wide awake and any attempt to circumvent our will will be met with fierce resistance. Still, you are correct in your request that we be very vigilant in our overseeing the marxist-in-chief and his minions of mischief. Like the patriots after the battle at Concord, we are in for many more hard battles and some hard times before we can declare victory in this second American revolution.

Let's not forget the leagal battle over patents on genetically engineered testing or gene theropy…How is it that a company can dictate the price of a genetic test on YOUR genetic makeup???Isn't DNA the basic thing that makes us individuals?
This is like a year long nightmare!!
I just want to say that this is a job killer (among other things). My husband owns his own business – he is a commercial plumber and does hospital remodels. A few weeks ago he was very busy and had employed
4 people. Well the "higher ups" at the hospital told him that they were "told" by Washington that they could
only employ union workers for any work related to the hospital. My husband and his 4 employees lost
their jobs – due to the politics in Washington. Can't wait to see what happens if this thing passes. All the jobs
(and the tax breaks) will go to Obama's buddies at SEIU and ACORN.
My GPS beeps when I approach a known speed trap. How about a TV that makes a farting sound to warn of libs?
