Radical Leftist Teacher Sets Bad Example for Students

The Racine teacher had his fifteen minutes of fame this month when he refused to accept an award from Congressman Paul Ryan at a Martin Luther King, Jr. event at a local college. A video of Levie’s antics, accompanied by a lame explanation for his defiance, is circulating online.
“Paul Ryan is a lackey for the one percent,” Levie contends in a video interview after the event.
The video made Levie an instant folk hero for leftists.
But our research shows that silly antics are nothing new for Levie, an ends-justify-the-means type who routinely uses his students to promote his personal political agenda.
In an article Levie penned for his union magazine, NEA Today, he wrote that “By engaging students in real-life issues and encouraging them to act on a political level, we will transform schools into places where authentic learning takes place.
“At the same time, we will help our students become engines of positive change in our society,” he wrote.
In other words, Levie wants his students to become fellow rabble rousers. And what better way to elicit “positive change” than to snub a respected congressman from a political party he opposes?
The incident with Ryan, however, is only the most recent example the social studies teacher has set for his students.
Last summer, he was kicked out of a Wisconsin Senate Finance Committee hearing for causing a fuss. He was literally carried out by police.
In 2009, “Horlick teacher Al Levie, known for organizing high school students in political movements, was part of the crowd” that protested outside of Ryan’s office, according to the Racine Post.
In 2004, a student vote project headed by Levie was canceled when it was discovered that the event would only benefit one political party. The Journal Times reported:
“The get out the vote project planned by Horlick High School students has been canceled.
“Racine Unified School District Superintendent Thomas Hicks said what started out to be a class-related activity last week turned out to be a partisan event. The decision to cancel the event was made … after he learned the facts had changed and it was no longer a bipartisan endeavor.”
It quickly becomes clear that Levie believes the purpose of public schools is to turn students into junior social democrats, and he’s setting the example with his childish antics aimed at Congressman Ryan.
Meanwhile, only 57 percent of Racine Unified high school students are proficient in social studies.
That sad reality will leave students with a one-sided perspective on American political issues, and likely little insight into Ryan’s conservative thought.
And that’s exactly the goal, isn’t it, Al?

I blame the Taxpayers who continue to pay Levie.
Last I checked it's still a free country. Levie is free to say whatever he wants about his congress people and the government is not allowed to retaliate by firing him. Sorry.

This jerk is just another in a long line of self obsessed academics who teach a lot but know very little. But this is a good story; the hideous nature of this element is making itself known and thinks the good people of Wisconsin will choose THEM over somebody like Scott Walker. By doing this kind of thing they only help Walker.

Occupy the Courthouse. Demand Justice.
Communists were open, if nothing else, when they declared their intent to go after teachers, schools and unions.
If you truly want to wage this battle to win, open your eyes to the reality that all politics really is local and that school board is as local as it gets!
A great deal is laundered through schools and it happens without people paying attention. SO go to those school board meetings. PAY ATTENTION and hammer the boards relentlessly with truth after truth after truth.
Here in Illinois, the heart of Obamaland (supposedly) the district 186 super takes home a cool million bucks in the time it takes one student to traverse high school! Yeah about 250 grand a year! ANd progressive profession is endless, no doubt. SO when you think about how a schoolteacher can do something like this on MLK day, or how one can feed students his own "bodily fluids" you have to accept that we have been WAY too trusting of school administration – we have taken our eye of accountability OFF the ball and we are paying dearly for it. We are paying for it with the corruption and abuse of our own children.
It is time to stand up and fight back, folks, and at the school board level is where we must wage our new war of reestablishing Independence.
Just another member of the enormous welfare state. We should not expect any better out of these people.

Yes that is true. Also I am free to vote NO on every school levy and tax levy that supports any public union worker group.
Is he paid to teach or community organize? Would you be so approving of the free speech if he was preaching the conservative view or bringing the Tea Party in the classroom? Sorry.
Why would any good Republican like Paul Ryan extend any type of consideration to this obvious communist that is using his position as alleged educator to indoctrinate young minds towards Marxism. The only thing to show these people is contempt and to start the process to root them out of society.
How can administration in schools teach our true history, one of inalienable rights and individual Liberty endowed upon us by our Creator, while creating rights free zones where those things do not apply because the intent is indoctrination into collectivist social justice futures dominated by Democrat Party voters?
Our schools have produced several generations of people taught to forgo their own rights without even so much as a peep in dissent. We have adults who cannot talk intelligently, or even cogently, about our Constitution, much less the Declaration of Independence. And rights? Heck, most people cannot name any right beyond religion and speech. Most "feel" it appropriate for government ti issue permission slips regarding inalienable rights.
To me, those who go after children's minds in school are no different than pedophiles who go after their bodies. Both prey upon the innocent and do damage against those who are incapable of defending themselves. Both deserve the same fate. Check that, both have earned the same fate.

Maybe because I still remember school since it wasn't all that long ago, but public school teachers aren't a great example in the first place. With few exceptions.
A perfect example of a leftist hack brainwasher in charge of kids and filling their heads with useless mush. He is exactly the type of person that justifies busting the teacher's unions monopoly on education and should be fired on the spot. For another thing, socialist, parents of the affected students likewise remain completely free to agitate for his removal from the classroom until the board of education does what they seek. This is even more reason to get rid of the Department of Education and get the Unions out of our Schools, so Teachers like this can be fired and not protected. Even more reason for Parent's to teach their Children not to listen and fall for the things that are being taught and forced down their throats at school.

Who has the money to hire lawyers to get this to happen? This is why public interest law groups exist. I want to see right wing groups sue. And sue hard.
