Rep. Weiner Spokesperson Lies To ‘New York Post’
by Dan RiehlThere are at least two demonstrably false statements issued to the New York Post on behalf of Representative Anthony Weiner by his spokesperson, Dave Arnold.
Here’s the first [emphasis mine]:
The tech-savvy congressman saw the picture almost immediately. He had been tweeting about a hockey game just a few minutes earlier.
An analysis of Rep. Anthony Weiner’s Twitter timeline has already been done here at Big Government that clearly shows Weiner’s Twitter account had been publicly silent for 3 hrs. and 24 mins. prior to the Tweeting of the inappropriate image. Consequently, there was no Tweet about a hockey game “just a few minutes earlier.” Therefore, that statement simply isn’t true.
Rep. Weiner’s spokesman then falsely claims that after removing the image in question, Weiner joked about the incident a mere 15 minutes later. Again, from the Post:
Weiner pulled the shot himself, but not before it had been retweeted and screen-grabbed by several followers. Weiner, a voracious user of Twitter, wrote a humorous response about 15 minutes later.
False.
In fact, on his Twitter account, Weiner appeared to dissemble and bumble about for over an hour before firing off the tweet about his Facebook account being hacked. Here’s a recreation of the timeline, starting with the Tweet Weiner claims was sent by an alleged hacker and ending with the “FB Hacked” tweet:

The New York Post also completely ignores Weiner’s earlier twitter reference to the City of Seattle in a Tweet that remains on his feed. For whatever reason, the Congressman added the hashtag #Thats545InSeattleIThink to a Tweet announcing the time of an upcoming appearance on MSNBC. Reportedly, the young woman the lewd photograph was sent to lives in … Seattle.
Also missing from the NY Post’s story is an explanation for how a hacking of Weiner’s Facebook account could lead to a Yfrog image being posted in his public Twitter feed. But by far, the most glaring hole is the question everyone, including Politico, is asking: Has Rep. Weiner reported this alleged hacking to the authorities?
Bottom line: the New York Post has only served to raise more questions about this rapidly developing story.

This is going to unravel as lie after lie is piled on and things can't be easily explained away.
Here is another more-than-likely falsehood from NYPost. They state the following: "…got a message about a week ago from Facebook alerting him that his password might have been tampered with".
I work on the web and I've never heard of Facebook having a policy of alerting its users of potential hacks with their accounts. In fact, I don't know of any company that does this. I would be very surprised if Facebook does this and I recommend BigGov to check out Facebook's policy on how or if it alerts its users.
I believe that Weiner's spokesperson just spewed out this nonsense thinking that the unsavvy web user wouldn't catch this.
Resign? Are you kidding? Don't you know about the double standard?

IF someone had hacked his account he then would NOT have had control of account in those few minutes so
in a matter he left pecker tracks that proves it was he who posted the image

False about the Facebook thing. I just got back from a Vegas vacation, and upon logging onto Facebook at my hotel, I was locked out of my account and sent an email from Facebook. So they do have some warning when they think that a password is tampered with or a login happens somewhere questionable.

Good point, but firstly, you were locked out of your account, not warned. Also I wonder if your email stated that someone was trying to crack your password, or more than likley, just stated that your account was locked as a preventive measure.
My point is that there's a big difference in what happened to you (account lock) and Facebook just sending an email out basically saying "hey, someone is trying to hack your account yo, better do something about it".
His account was never locked, just warned that someone was trying to hack it (supposedly).

Weiner either errantly sent the picture himself, or his account was hacked. The latter is a Federal crime, particularly because he is a sitting Congressman. Curiously, he so far has neither commented on substantiating the hack nor committed to make a report to the FBI. If he makes a false report, he is the criminal. And the FBI can very easily track where the "hacked" post came from. If he does not make a report, then he assuredly sent the picture of Weiner's weiner himself.
Surely, as he considers himself superior to a particular GOP figure in every way, the way to goad him into filing a report is to point out that even Sarah Palin knows how to report a cybercrime and there's no reason Weiner cannot figure it out.
But I have this sneaking suspicion that he really does not want to make that report.
And I pity the FBI team investigating it. I would not want to be tasked with tracking this particular prick over the internet.

Democratic Mayor Cory Booker of Newark, NJ uses twitter brilliantly as a very effective tool to help him with his mayoral duties and to stay very connected personally with his millions of constituents. Hacking the account of a sitting Congressman and posting a picture of an erection is a big deal. This is an attempt to manipulate and undermine the democratic process. It is an extremely serious matter.
The longer Weiner goes without treating the matter as a serious one the less I believe his story. Why hasn't he reported the hacking to Twitter and the FBI?
