GOP Decision Time: A Great Leap Toward Honesty
by Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA)When John Boehner was first elected Republican leader, he said he felt like the dog that caught the car. This is a metaphor for someone who works hard to achieve a major goal, only to be confronted with the age old question “What do we do now?” If Republicans take back the House and Senate, the party will actually be the dog that caught the car.

Victory at the polls means Republicans will inherit an angry electorate that has been voting for change since 2006. The country is at a crossroads. In one direction there is big, centralized government that usurps the rights of states, local communities, and individual Americans. It’s the job of the Republican leaders to outline another direction, but that direction is not yet clear to them. This must change before the next election.
Americans punished Republicans in the 2006 and 2008 elections. Conventional wisdom said the country wanted change. The truth is that Americans saw no real difference between Democrats and Republicans. The Republican brand has gone stale and paved the way for a new era of big government and socialism. As Newsweek boldly proclaimed in early 2009, “We are all socialists now.”
Thankfully, the prospect of this socialist era enduring is slim. The American public has learned what socialistic polices really mean. A budget deficit that was $161 billion when the Democrats took control of Congress in 2007 and four years later projected to be $1.47 trillion; and a national debt held by the public that was $5 trillion and four years later projected to be $9.2 trillion. This and a lot more, including a projected $2.6 trillion cost to implement the Democrats’ healthcare bill, have soured the experience of most Americans with a Socialist Golden Age. As Margaret Thatcher said, “…Socialist governments traditionally do make a financial mess. They always run out of other people’s money.” We just didn’t know that the White House and the Democratic Congress would run out of other people’s money so soon, or that they could accelerate our financial mess so rapidly.
President Obama will be remembered in history for his sweeping legislative success in bringing about an unprecedented era of big government in an American “Great Leap Forward.” And like China’s Great Leap Forward under Mao during the late 1950s and early 1960s, the result will be economic failure. At the forefront of our financial mess are broken entitlement programs. The President has hastened our financial catastrophe but he is not alone in doing nothing to fix the unfunded entitlement liabilities, which are in excess of $60 trillion for Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. The line of politicians wanting to avoid this problem, or unwilling to understand it, extends back for decades.
The Republican leadership has taken the innovative approach of “listening” to the American public, using the latest technology to give Americans a voice in their government. Americans can go online or use their cell phones to recommend cuts in spending on the Republican Whip’s site “You Cut” or submit their ideas to the Republican Leader’s site “America Speaking Out.” Good ideas are then mentioned on the floor of the House of Representatives or may be included in any future Republican agenda.
But listening will only get you so far. At what point do Republican leaders break the news that the country is racing toward financial catastrophe? The Republican Party is not serving the American people well if its leaders imply that catastrophe can be avoided by texting votes for cuts that even if they were adopted would have little impact on our nation’s growing debt. A freeze in spending is good; eliminating earmarks is great; shutting an entire cabinet agency might even be better. Yet after all that, our country still goes bankrupt because the tough decisions on entitlement and tax reform are being ignored.
Republicans should learn a lesson from the Contract With America. In 1994, Republican candidates ran on a set of promises that had been poll tested and focused grouped. An election was won and there were legislative successes in the 12 years that followed. Yet by 2006 and the end of Republican control of Congress, the GOP had failed to convince the public that they could govern any better than the Democrats. The lesson is clear: Republicans have to define themselves through more than rhetoric and platitudes as the protectors of states’ rights, local community control, and, most importantly, individual freedom from the growing power of the federal government.
As the 2010 elections rapidly approach, the Republican leadership must put forward a credible plan that reforms entitlements, simplifies the tax code, and has a real energy policy. These policy changes would result in a balanced budget, a shrinking trade deficit, repayment of the national debt, and put Americans back to work. History will reward Republicans if we are honest with the American people; but first we must be honest with ourselves.
Devin Nunes, a Republican, represents the 21st congressional district of California. He is the author of Restoring the Republic (WND, 2010). A shorter version of this commentary first appeared in the Washington Examiner on September 2, 2010.

I am sick of Obama ranting about the Republicans having NO plans, or solutions to the problems in this country! How would he know, when he refuses to even listen??!!! The GOP had better come up with a plan and talk about it on the campaign trail, or we are doomed!! They cannot allow Obama and his preacher like rantings, get the upper hand again!!!
Let it be known to all Republicans that will be seated after this election: Limit government, cut spending, keep taxes and regulation low, or hear from the Tea Party!
I said it yesterday and I will say it again.
Regarding the idiotic proposal from "House Republican Leader John Boehner onWednesday proposed a two-year freeze on all tax rates and a cut in government spending to the levels of 2008, before a deep recession took hold of the economy."
Idiot. They just don't get it. Freeze? Drop to 2008 spending?
Is anyone around who has a fucking brain? We are screwed.
http://www.cnbc.com/id/39055357
80% cut in spending excluding defense.
Cut the pay for all federal workers (including congress) by 50%. They don't like it they can quit.
End lifetime pension and health plans for congressional representatives.
Its' near time to to go out into the streets and to their offices to demand this of them.
If you think about it, Congressman, the people have been voting for change since 2000. Bush was brought in because he wasn't Clinton. Who'd've imagined the subsequent growth in government in the ensuing decade! Congressman Nunes, please, you and your colleagues, don't disappoint us!
The Republicans have always had a major problem getting the message out to the masses. I don't see that changing very soon either.
As a federal employee, I'll take a pay cut if it means saving the country so that my kids can enjoy the same USA that I grew up in (only with cooler technology [but unfortunately for them no Saturday morning cartoons]).
If we cannot elect Republicans that will govern like Chris Christ or /Marco Rubio , then this victory will have been all for naught…
Fiscal responsibility and all that follows from it MUST be the focus of the new Congress….
Not if Obama is "natural born", a secret Muslim, or a Marxist….
" This is a metaphor for someone who works hard to achieve a major goal, only to be confronted with the age old question “What do we do now?” "
The metaphor also works for someone who thinks they got a lifelong cushy job, high pay, extensive perks and benefits, and a membership in the ruling class.
Now it's time for the Republicans to prove which one it is.
rckmom, you could have stopped after the first five words.
I guess that's what our job is. We need to make sure our neighbors and friends stay on the ball to issues. And correct the lame stream media when necessary…….which is all the time. ; )
The GOP have to completely uproot the rotten fruit bearing leftist tree. Until now, they've snipped a few leaves and branches occasionally to appease the rubes whose votes they needed. That won't do this time.
The Republican party had better find their inner Reagan, understand that government is the problem, and begin to unwind this monstrosity that is statist Washington. It needs to be “CUT” some 20 to 30% across the board, nail the revolving door shut (K- Street), look again at being a politician as momentary service to your constituency, as opposed to a damned family business (Murkowski, Bush, Kennedy, etc.). Be certain that this is an inherently conservative country, what we’re pissed about is, out of control government. Be bold, be certain, be conservative, and the American people will follow, look too Ronald Reagan.
I had rather hammer the republicans than live with the corrupt, dishonest, insulting and radical group in power today.
Let's get on with clipping Obama's wings and getting him to shut his mouth.
It is up to the citizens of this country to hold the politicians feet to the fire and make them do what is right. They won't do it on their own, regardless of their rhetoric, because politics breeds corruption and corruption breeds exactly the mess we're in now. Unless the citizens hold their elected officials accountable for their actions, nothing will change.
I should have added
Permanent tax cuts that exceed the Bush cuts.
End capital gains tax, End to the death tax.
Instant economic recovery.
I have very little confidence in these jerks doing anything.
Amen!
Boehner's proposed 2008 level has to be a joke. He's just kidding, right?
Same dogs, different collars. Thanks for condoning forcing my children into involuntary servitude and generational theft. You people are beyond help. Utterly without conscience. Stealing from babies to prop up ponzi schemes. Pathetic.
STANDING O…… another one knocked out'a the park, Harry ! ! !
.
The only plan I want to see right now, is the GOP grow a pair and investigate every last one of those criminals. One by one, and I mean beyond the fullest extent of the law.
They need to learn to stop being intimidated by the liberals. That's what the libs do best, "intimidate".
If I may be so bold to add some stuff:
Implement a flat tax rate across all income brackets (if not FairTax).
End punitive taxation on repatriated profits/wealth.
And perhaps most pressing: Send ObamaCare to the trash heap of history — all two thousand however many pages of it!
Oh, wait, you and I aren't supposed to have any ideas… I forgot.
Even if the tear-down of the hugely wasteful federal bureauracy is a brick by brick process, it must be started after the November landslide election.
The screaming, caterwailig, and gnashing of teeth by the Left and their sympathizers, must be ignored.
They will make a fuss but we don't have to listen
Time to put the Obama mobile- ClownCar in "R"..
The Republicans will fix everything, LMAO. Mcstupid in Arizona and most incumbents continue to get win primaries.
Republicans like government schools, central banks, the FED, and progressive taxes, welfare states overseas, and wouldn't know a free market if it hit them in the ass.

Harry and Brad has my vote. I'll let you both fight over who will be President, or V. Pres. LOL
Might I suggest they stop the out of control spending … Just refuse to raise the debt ceiling, and presto it stops. Magic…
Also, listen "Reagan in his Own Voice," a collection of RR's radio broadcasts between his departure from the governorship of California and his election to the presidency.
It's the gold standard for straight talk and political common sense.
Well that's a nice list, but I think you were right about no brain.
How about we just don't raise the debt ceiling … Aren't we broke?
Much of the bureaucracy does a damn good job.
What needs to be dismantled is the affirmative action infection throughout the government that has resulted in hangers-on collecting paychecks while doing virtually nothing.
Far too many of them are unqualified and they keep getting good performance reviews because their supervisors are afraid to write the truth for fear of an EEO lawsuit.
It may take a few elections to get back on track … I think it is too much to ask, for one election to do much.
Remeber 1994, people went back to sleep after … it cannot happen again.
the first thing is MAKE A LIST….on that list must be reachable goals…both short term and the hard to do long term things…here are some of my "wish list items"…1. cut spending buy 20% before 2012 elections…2.make tax cuts perminate…3. defund or repel health care…4. close the borders, we have two you know…5. ratify the 14th, 16th, 17th, amendments…that is a place to start and make sure there are no incumbents re-elected for the next 4 election cycles…that give US a chance to clean out the deadwood…corperate lobbists gotta go!!!! there's more but nature calls…
I think you may be low on your estimate of what needs cutting … Start with halving all government salaries, then drop pensions to private sector levesl, then take 75% of the government employees and fire them.
McCain may have won his primary, but if anything his primary win is the exception that proves the rule — in other words, conservative candidates have been getting elected all over the nation, from Alaska to Florida and everywhere in between, and McCain with his amnesty and his McCain Feingold and his big government ideas looked so… Democrat next to everyone else.
McCain had the name recognition, just came off a presidential run, and a Palin endorsement. It's hard to overcome those odds. But one McCain won't kill the whole thing.
here here!!!!!
It's all we have been doing for some times now, Ds Rs Ds Rs … nothing changes.
We need big cuts, like how about 75% for starters.
Raise the debt ceiling and print what we can't borrow. Worked for good ol' Weimar Germany.
OK, that's going to be tough, asking for honesty from politicians.
Beck's on the right path — It's honor that needs restoring, honesty will follow.
I LIKED RWR!!!
LOL Republicans could try honesty but I doubt they do. John could begin by embracing the Tea Party and closing down the D of Ed, DOE, DOA, and IRS. Embracing an energy policy that included manufacturing–combined heat and power CHP.
I was referring to the waste, overlap, and unnecessary regulation the makes the ":beast " keep growing.
I am under no illusion that it can be done quickly, but the reversal process must start in January…
It's going to take a few flushes to wipe the crude from the system. But will people continue flushing? Don't know, after 1994 they sure didn't follow through.
What say you, you in for the duration, whatever it takes?
I believe — and I hope I'm not being naïve — that this time is different. It doesn't feel the same as other mid term elections or any election in recent memory. Many of these candidates are different, too.
I hope I'm not wrong, and even if you do think I'm naïve, I'm sure you hope I'm not wrong, too.
good politician??? is there such a thing??? the last I heard the on'y good politician is a dead one, and you got to keep shootin' to make sure…even after they've been drawn and quartered, burned at the stake, tarred and feathered…hell thats a good start!
I don't care if the GOP doesn't have a plan, they will get my vote. Why? Because the Democrats do have a plan and it has more to do with their own power than our well being.
Bullying–the last resort of those lacking skills of persuasion. Well put, GHUA.
Nunes, Boehner you better get a damn clue real fast.
We do not want you to be less like Obama, we want *your* damn heads. The party is over, the people are out of money and patience.
Put a lid on governmental excess or we will come there and do it ourselves.
Although I believe that the dems. are destroying our country, I also believe that the republicans have had a hand in getting us to this point.
We talk about the dems. being in power since 2006and financially ruining this country. Well I ask you why did the dems. take over? Well from my perspective it was for the same reason the republicans will win in 2010. Neither party has been fiscally responsible to the citizens.
I fear that when the reps. win in Nov. it will be buisiness as usual.
The Republicans need to repeal or fix the bad laws that's been passed over the last 50 years, no need to pass a
bunch of garbage laws, they need to do something about the money sucking unions an make unions more
accountable for the things they do, like the beating an killing of any one that crosses them.
BRAD9883……no saturday morning cartoons???? off with your head!!!!! BUGS, DAFFY, WILEY E. COYOTE, RUUUULLLLLE
Got that right, Prof. There's a helluva lot of faith and trust needing restoration.
hell, I don't know you but I like your ideas…are you runnin' for anything????
You are, unfortunately, correct.
The only thing that brings a government to its knees are economic forces and/or a standing army. Internal revolution can be argued also as a distinct crippler.
No voter or election has ever stopped tyranny.
Economic forces continue to churn, the dollar weakens, state budgets tighten, Bernanke prints, congress charges the Chinese credit card to the max…
U.S. citizens are still distracted by Lady Gaga, Hollywood, Hannity, Olbermann, and a "busy" life…
It has to get worse before it gets better. It's not quite there yet, but the indicators are alive.
Sounds good to me!
Both parties are culpable in the destruction of our free republic. It's up to us to change this. No more back seat citizenship. We must always pay attention. They all will go crooked if given the chance.
No voter or election has stopped the intrusion of a tyrannical government.
Only economic forces and/or a standing army stops tyranny.
Start with an immediate 10% cut of all government. Entitlements and defense included. Put it out there. It doesn't have to survive int hat form, it just needs to blatantly counter the argument that the GOP has no plans.
We can hope that a few elections may work … No guarantee.
But Thomas Jefferson said it best: "As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun. While this gives [only] moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun, therefore, be the constant companion to your walks."
Still rings true today.
Great idea, except the way government operates, there is an automatic 10% increase year after year. Back in 1994 when the republicans took over both houses from the dem's, they talked about cutting spending. They referred to cutting the % of increased and were vilified by the dem's and media. It's all built on a lie.
Here is my advise for the GOP.
#0 – STRICT Constitutionalist platform. Stop revising the Constitution to fit the times, that is BS!
#1 – All Progressives MUST be swept out of the party NO EXCEPTIONS!
#2 – STRICT Fiscal Conservatism at all times ESPECIALLY ELECTION YEARS. Bringing home the "bacon" must STOP. This will mean Soc Sec and the IRS need SERIOUS revamping, NO EXCUSES!
#3 – Fierce National Security focus on all aspects, cyber, infrastructure, borders.
#4 – FIX the Immigration issue by ENFORCING the laws on the books NOT by writing new ones.
#5 – States Rights – Get the Federal Govt OUT of all the stuf it does not belong in.
I can come up with a couple more, but hell 3 out of the 5 here will go a LONG WAY to right the ship and get us back on track.
'Nuff Said.
Brad, Thank you!!!!
You sir have HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD!!! This is the disconnect that the GOP just doesn't get. Without taking drastic measures, as you've stated, the GOP will fail to make a difference!
He is only one man here in Calif, trying to focus on proper change…
If we in CA, had a few more like him, maybe we would not be in the nasty fix we're in…
Cornpone for breakfast?
Sad to say
Honesty in America has died! We are all being played for fools! You want proof of that? Article 2 Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution says a president must be a Natural Born Citizen! For the sake of conversation let's say because of Obama's father never being a U.S. citizen and because Natural Born Citizen as applied in A2S1 has never been brought before the SCOTUS for interpretation ….THERE IS A MUCH NEEDED QUESTION ABOUT OBAMA THAT TIL THIS DAY GOES UNANSWERED! Is Obama a legal president? Or is Obama an illegal president? This is your country, don't you think you should have a right to know one way or the other! For a long time now I have been trying to bring this matter to the attention of people! I think Obama is illegal because there is much evidence on the U.S. historical record that says the Founding Fathers meant Natural Born Citizen to be defined as being born to a mother and father both of whom are U.S. Citizens! This evidence includes the 1874 opinion of Chief Justice Morrison Waite in the case of Minor v. Happersett where he acknowledges that a Natural Born Citizen is being born to parents who are both U.S. Citizens! NOBODY IN GOVERNMENT WILL TELL YOU THIS! It is being suppressed! NOBODY IN THE MSM WILL TELL YOU THIS! It is being suppressed! We know with certainty that there are legitimate questions about Obama that go unanswered and that is the truth! Truth and honesty go hand in hand and here you have truth and honesty being suppressed right before your eyes, you see the death of honesty in America right before your eyes! Now folks watch! There are Obama supporters out there laying in wait to trash this post! If you read this post you will tell who they are in the replies…..they want truth and honesty suppressed too!
Gary, there was that one time that Republicans broke through the mists of media fog. That was the Contract With America. Like this article mentions, this was a short list of polled and focus group proven issues that had the public's support. No matter who we want to give credit to for pulling that off, it was a flash of genius because of its simplicity. The question now is, do we have the same kind of leadership in place that can pull this off again?
Honestly, I don't really trust John Boehner with this. But there are some others who do get it. At this point I'm ready to start looking at Newt again. No matter what was used to derail the guy, I still haven't seen anyone else in this party that cuts through the nonsense like he can. And how nice would it be to have a seasoned adult leading the party to contrast with the man-child obama?
Republicans have to be gutsy enough to tell the TRUTH. Check out Gov. Christie's answer to yet another unionized teacher to see a sample of HONESTY in government.
Democrats tell me it's raining as they piss in my boot. Republicans say it's not a 'bad' rain…. I want someone with the guts (or lower) to tell the natural-born TRUTH.
At some point we need to see the images of these traitorous officials being led away in handcuffs for a very long stay with Bubba. They like to play this game of "intimidation." It's time we showed them that we are NOT playing a game; that there is a real penalty to be paid for betraying your country.
Umm, have you seen Saturday Morning Cartoons lately? No Bugs, Daffy, and Wile E. Now it's all multiculturalism and diversity props. Really quite disgusting.
nuff said……….
"The Republican party had better find their inner Reagan"
Repeating the point from yesterday:
What we need today is a Coolidge Revolution. Across the board cut in federal discretionary spending of 50% with a corresponding cut in personal and corporate taxes as well as slashing most of the regulatory burdens the feds have imposed on business. Also a gradual transformation of government entitlement programs into privately controlled investment and savings programs.
And just to tweak the "progressives," we can call this approach, Radical Americanism.
November is not a vote for Republicans, but a vote against Democrats. Republicans, now have to earn back our trust, or there WILL be a third party…..
"Let's get on with clipping Obama's wings and getting him to shut his mouth."
We may succeed in clipping that guy's wings, but we will NEVER be able to shut his mouth. Even after we throw him out of office, he's going to curse us with his voice for as long as most of us are alive. It's the price we'll pay for electing such a young commie bastard to office.
That's the real beauty of the Tea Party Movement. It's not an organization, but a network of organizations, so no matter what these elected officials do in the future, SOMEONE in that network is going to pick up on it, and report it to the rest of us.
In that way the Tea Party reflects E Pluribus Unum; From Many, One.
When the new batch of representatives arrive in DC, they will be confronted by Patomic Fever. It is up to "we the people" to innoculate them prior to them going to DC. I am going to send and e-mail to my representative that will remind him that he is not a congressman, he is the elected representative from my district to the Congress of the United States. I will tell him that in all correspondence and contact I will call him representative as a reminder that he works for me. It is time we remember that the founders were suspect of aristocracy and made a Republic to prevent the establishment of an elite body. We need to hold these representatives feet to the fire.
I like it! See you idiot democrats, there are lots of good ideas coming from Conservatives.
It is probable the "R" franchise will control one house, if not both, after the coming election. That in itself has me worried.
When the "R" takes control, and there are no substantial changes (for instance, a return of Sovereignty to the people, from which all just and rightful power comes), then all the props will have been pulled out from under the "Government", and the question of legitimacy will have been answered for all time.
For any big wigs out there who may be reading, here are some suggestions you may wish to take heed of;
1) Pull the charter for the "Federal Reserve. Enough with the theft and deceptions.
2) Eject the U.N. from my Country.
3) Likely the most important of all; pull the charter for the corporation chartered by Congress in 1871, called the UNITED STATES of AMERICA. A sound step towards good governance.
The above represent a mere start. Anything less is cowardice, and render those who support these despicable organizations to charges of treason during time of war.
You may now report me to the DHS.
Repeal the 16th as well. Remove the ability of the Federal Govt. to tax, then enact the "Fair Tax."
We have been here before. We have heard the same things – before. We were made the same promises – before. For 30 years we have heard the promises and we have been told by Lucy (the GOP) that they will not yank the football away at the last second (betray us) only to find, time and again, that Republicans are every bit as corrupt as Democrats.
It's the money. They just can't help stealing it. We get it. It's the way the game works and as long as the game is structured the way it is we would be fools to expect the likes of cheap masturbators represented by the virtuous Congressman Nunes to be eagles when they are in fact just weasels.
At least amongst ourselves we should be sober and realistic about our goals. We know we have to change the game – not for the sake of the pathetic Republican Party – but for the sake of our children's children who will have to live in a world that has been destroyed by the actions and/or lack of actions of people just like Congressman Nunes. Bear in mind, Mr. Nunes has been in Congress since 2003 and I don't recall hearing about the "Nunes Balanced Budget Act", the "Nunes Tax Reduction Act", the "Nunes Housing Reform Act" or the "Nunes Federal Reserve Reform Act". Did you see those bills? I don't recall hearing him saying anything about Social Security in 2005 did you? I didn't see him on television telling the American people that Social Security was the world's biggest Ponzi Scheme and that we had to privatize it to save it. No, as a matter of fact I contacted his office to see if he had an interest in a plan to reform Social Security and do you know what I heard?
Crickets.
Knowing the facts is important. We can pretty much tell that Mr. Nunes is part of the problem and is seeking to salvage his own political career – at our cost. This is going to be a repeat performance and the only solution is to change the game entirely.
As responsible members of the Tea Parties our demands should be simple: we want an Article V Constitutional Convention. If we do this we can change the game forever and put an end to these endless conflicts-of-interest, moral hazards and betrayals that make us forever look like a bunch of retarded Charlie Browns.
I don't know about you, but I'm tired of landing flat on my backside.
There is no such thing as a moderate. They are statists trying to hide.
All very good ideas, but I haven't seen anyone post on the 60 trillion unfunded liabilities that are medicade/care and social security. Yes, the IRS and the 14th and 17th amendments need to go, but without fixing(abolishing) all of our ridiculous entitlements; we will still go broke. Something for nothing does not and cannot exist.
That's what I'm sure of and afraid of.
"They cannot allow Obama and his preacher like rantings, get the upper hand again!!!"
he is morphing into Jeremiah Wright, "the chickens have come home to roost"
Like him or not, the Republicans have been Leaderless without Newt Gingrich.. Picture Obama TRYING to DEBATE Newt Gingrich………
No more bailouts.
Balance budget.
Open up oil exploration and drill, baby, drill. Achieve independence from foreign oil.
Build that missile defense shield.
Scrap the idea of the START treaty.
Scrap any idea of cap and trade.
Balanced foreign trade.
Eradicate the useless nations from our shoreline.
Reduce fed regulation on business and industry.
Cut out any and all foreign aid and financial support to the useless nations, except Israel.
Defund DOE, obamacare, USAID, and EPA.
Fix the fraud and corruption in Social Security, medicare, and medicade.
Cease misuse of H1-B visas system.
A flat tax of 15% to include medicare and medicade is very good. All pay according to their means.
Cut corporate tax to 15%
No more subsidy.
Reduce the size of government by 20% through attrition.
Place govt payroll equal to private sector. Cut it 15%.
Cost of American troops in a foreign nation will be paid by host country.
Enforce all federal law throughout the land. No more selective enforcement.
However, we voters do realize that the majority of this can not be done until 2012 when a conservative president is sworn in. And that requires us to take back the house and senate. If we give you that this Nov and again in 2012, we expect positive results big time.
John Boehner proposes making cutbacks to 2006 levels. HEY JOHN …NOT ENOUGH. Repeal Prescription Drugs, No Child left Behind AND ALL Earmarks (Pork) for the past 10 years, dude. And don't STOP there …how about revisiting NAFTA & CAFTA to bring industry and jobs BACK to America. How about abolishing the Federal Dept. of Education? As for the Progressive GOP …what a (sad) JOKE.
Go after HOLDER as the Dems went after Gonzalez… Next to Holder Gonzalez is a Saint …….INDEPENDENT PROSECUTERS ONLY !!!!!!!!!!!!! Start Hiring NOW!

A TIME FOR CHOOSING (The Speech – October 27, 1964)
"You and I have the courage to say to our enemies, "There is a price we will not pay." "There is a point beyond which they must not advance." And this—this is the meaning in the phrase of Barry Goldwater's "peace through strength." Winston Churchill said, "The destiny of man is not measured by material computations. When great forces are on the move in the world, we learn we're spirits—not animals." And he said, "There's something going on in time and space, and beyond time and space, which, whether we like it or not, spells duty."
You and I have a rendezvous with destiny.
We'll preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we'll sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness. "
Harry, why do you have to be soooooo sensible and Correct all the time…….?
and they should start at 1600 Penn Ave….
"Picture Obama TRYING to DEBATE Newt Gingrich………"
I would give my last dollar to see that debate.
and get rid of the anchor baby loophole…that'll save us taxpayers at least $100 billion a year…
As long as you don't mean to hurt them !
ain't that the truth….more indoctrination of our youth!!
Good Politics (Obama) is Not Good Government.
Ever try to get a "Small Business" Loan ? Reserved exclusly for "Minorities" and "Women". White Males, don't even try to apply…
Wow! It still gives you goose-bumps after all these years.
Government hates the Fair or Flat Tax because they lose control of our BEHAVIOR. They want this POWER more than they love America.
My 20 year old son made an absolutely brilliant suggestion on how to fix the crony-ism and entrenched political class with one simple constitutional amendment:
"Any individual may not run for any elected federal position while currently holding a federally elected position."
A President would not be allowed to run for reelection. Senators would have six year terms then be sent home. House of Rep's: two years then out. A sitting Senator could not run for President nor could a House member run for the Senate, for example. Certainly, individuals could run for other jobs but this would prevent individuals like Ted Kennedy from having a lifetime "seat."
