Take Back Congress to Stop Obamacare
by Dick MorrisWe don’t have to wait until we have a Republican in the White House to rid this nation of the shackles of Obamacare. We can do it next year if we win simple majorities in one or both houses of Congress.
The Obama health care bill was an authorization measure which established a program and set down its parameters. But authorization bills are not appropriations. Each year the Congress must act on appropriations for each department and agency in the government. If no funds are appropriated, nothing can be spent.
So if Republicans take the House (where appropriations have to originate) – and especially if they also take the Senate – they will have the capacity to zero fund Obamacare, appropriating not a dime for it in their spending bills. Indeed, they can and should include a specific amendment to their appropriations bills banning the expenditure of any of the funds on Obama’s health care program.
In the wake of the passage of the health care bill, states are filing lawsuits and talk of repeal is in the air. Both are useful efforts. But litigation takes time and the key challenge – to the constitutionality of the requirement that everybody buy insurance – cannot even begin until it takes effect in 2014. And repeal will obviously be impossible as long as Obama wields the veto from his Oval Office. It would be impossible mathematically for the Republicans to get a two-thirds majority in the Senate and unlikely in the House, so an override is out of the question. Repeal will have to wait until 2013, after Obama’s defeat in 2012.
But zero funding can happen immediately after the Republicans take Congress. All this makes the elections of 2010 critical. If we can stop this bill from getting off the ground, it will be possible to repeal it when we take over the White House. But if the Democrats keep their majorities, the program will be so entrenched by the time we defeat Obama that its repeal would be unlikely.

America weeps for the obomanation that has pulled this coup.
Most of us has to wait until next election to vote them out. That's a long time to wait. I miss the America I once knew too. Too bad we've got alot of people who voted for them who thinks there's nothing wrong with Socialism. That's bad.
That means donating to the RNC, Senatorial conservatives, as well…despite the propaganda tactics in the media trying to not just smear Steele, but run him out of the RNC. More Saul Alinsky tactics. Donate…leave comments on blogs, newspapers, make phone calls….
This is pretty much the required strategy. The GOP will need to take back the House at a minimum. People will have to get out and vote.

It is OK to think 'repeal'. It is important to realize that this will best be undone incrementally. But understand that this, the healthcare thing, is just the tip of the iceberg. While they dazzle us with that peach they are busy passing executive orders and agreeing on UN resolutions (UN Small Arms Treaty. Bad stuff. Look it up) and othe onerous

There are levels of Socialism in the U.S. and there have been for generations, it is called Social Security and try running on repealing that and see how many votes you get. Government health care benefits, SS, etc already comprise a huge portion of the system. Not only does the massive HC bill "control" what private ins companies do it creates 150 new government HC related bureaucracies and services.

Hmmm. What Dick forgets is when his buddy Clinton was in the White House, Newt and Bill had a bit of a disagreement over the budget. Clinton vetoed the budget and as a result, the government shut down. I believe if you go back and read history, you will find, Bill probably came out on top. If the Republicans take back both houses and they do not fund Obamacare, Obama simply has to veto the budget and let the chips fall where they may. I am so happy the Republicans listened to Rusty the Chickenhawk and Sarah "Death Panel" Palin (not to mention, Canada was good enought for me) when the chips were down. If we're going to elect Republicans into office, they need to run as folks who will actively DISMANTLE portions of our government. We don't need Republicans who think they can be "better managers" of the bureaucracy, and we don't need Republicans who think that a keen business sense means they can use the government for "creative solutions" to the nation's "tough problems." These are all sarcastic quote marks, by the way.
In short, we need people who don't believe in the power of government. I know that sounds negative, but it's called being realistic. We need to people who believe government by its very nature is limited in what it can accomplish. Government should be limited primarily because it infringes on our liberty as it grows; but it should also be limited because, no matter how much people wish it weren't the case, government simply cannot do all the things people want it to do.

Well, I don't know about that. There are steps the government can take to drasticallly lower the cost of medical insurance. Make it more widely available as well. The poorest of citizens already have Medicaid, and those without that can't be turned away by hospitals.

It's simple, too simple for you I'm afraid, but I'll try. This bill does not have socialized health care in it because the American people don't want it. So instead it has 2000 pages of regulations and mandates designed to destroy insurance companies (utterly) in 2 to 3 years, while in the meantime causing many doctors to quit. The result will be a decreased supply, so prices will go up, while insurance companies will all go out of business. Then we will be told there is no choice but to go to the government option. This will be what they run on in the 2014 midterms and what they think will bring them back to power in 2016. The empty promise of health care now that they have destroyed the system.

With respect to Dick Morris and yourself, this can be repealed in 2011.
Simply attach it as an amendment to every bill that leaves Congress. Make Obumbles veto EVERYTHING to protect his precious Obamacare. When he vetos a bill, make some changes, then send it back, with the same amendment. He'll only veto it so many times if the country wants it repealed.
And yes, that may very well mean bringing the federal govt. to its knees (remember, there'd be no appropriations bills passing either), and I am sure the country will manage just fine… To be safe, send the defence appropriations bill to Obumbles with NO amendments of any kind to make sure our military is still there to keep us safe.
Defund EVERYTHING else until he signs the repeal. FORCE HIS HAND!

Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11. If Republicans are going to keep defending the mistake of the Iraq War, especially by pointing to Democrats who supported it, I'm going to have a hard time taking them seriously when they talk about limited government.

Just make sure to ask our elected representatives what exactly they plan to do – too many have been elected and then decided to do nothing to reduce big government. That's been the Republican stance 90% of the time – it's time for change.
