Why Does Mitt Romney Want Low-Skilled Workers to Be Unemployed?
by Dan MitchellEarlier this week, I explained why Mitt Romney is a Republican version of Barack Obama. His transgressions include being open to a value-added tax, a less-than-stellar record on healthcare, weakness on Social Security reform, an anemic list of proposed budget savings, and support for reprehensible ethanol subsidies.
Now we can add something else to the list. He wants to cut off the bottom rungs of the economic ladder and hurt low-skilled workers.
Here are a couple of passages from a report in the Oregonian.
Mitt Romney…continues to be a supporter of indexing the minimum wage for inflation. Oregon and Washington were among the first states to index their own minimum wages to inflation – nine states now do so – and it’s a favorite of liberals… Romney campaigned in favor of indexing the minimum wage when he ran for governor in 2002. However, ABC News noted in 2007 that he wasn’t sure he supported indexing the federalminimum wage (which is lower than the minimum wage in several states). In this new video, you could quibble that he doesn’t explicitly say he’s talking about the federal minimum — but that sure seems to be the tenor of his comments.
In other words, Romney is willing to condemn lower-skilled workers to unemployment, in hopes that he will gain some sort of short-term political advantage. In this regard, he will be just like Bush.

It’s also worth noting that the minimum wage imposes disproportionate damage on the African-American community, as Walter Williams has explained.

Because Mitt Romney speaks with forked tongue, out of both sides of his mouth.
Mitt Romney is not a conservative, closeted or otherwise.
He is simply a professional politician, who thinks his time hath cometh.

Romney wants people dependent upon government just like every other run of the mill corrupticrat. That way, he can exert control over them and fish for votes based on what he promises to do with that power.

Mind our vote and most certainly do not give it to Mitt Romney – or Barack Obama for that matter.
Its all part of the covert operation to have this nation overrun with illiterate illegal immigrants. The only problem with this operation, is it is creeping into the skilled trades. Although it does disproportionately adversely affect the Black Communities, I dont think color of skin is of any relevance in the big scheme of things.
They want their One World Government, so they will continue the incremental attack on American sovereignty, absence of a coherent message to deal with illegal immigration, lack of job site enforcement, the outright arming of guerrilla drug cartels in Mexico, all roads go to the same place. How are you going to put up a fight if you are hungry?

Romney does not understand capitalism, nor does he defend or preach it. If he ever practices capitalism it is when it benefits him more than croni corporatism, which is what he believes in. Not intentionally, but because he is just not bright enough to get it. We all ready have a POTUS who does not believe in American Capitalism, another will ensure we never have American Capitalism again.
Thank you for bringing Walter Williams into the minimum wage discussion. He's been writing brilliant essays on that subject for years, and our corrupt government has always advocated and legislated the opposite of what he shows us really works in the real world. I've been giving his books to friends for some time now, and every single time, they've thanked me after they read them. I starting voting when Bob Dole was running for president, and have voted Republican ever since, but I am just sick of listening to blockheads trying to convince me that having a minimum wage somehow hurts people at the bottom. Usually they are greedy bastards that think they should be able to treat people at the bottom any way they want. It's getting old. I really like that Gingrich and Perry have questioned Romney's work at Bain. Questioning someones business practices is not an attack on capitalism. Unless your a greedy scumbag who cares about one thing, how much money you put in your own pocket. I think Christian conservatives should question why they would support that ideology.

Price floors cause surpluses: In regards to employment, the surplus is workers or unemployment.
California has a high minimum wage, and cities impose citywide minimum wages. We have the second highest unemployment rate in the nation.
He's the 2012 version of John McCain….. the republican party's pick as well as the mainstream press… this is their choice and it looks like we will end up with it.

As the guy in the video said. It's a bit more complicated than just the minimum wage. However, the true issue is government interventionism in the marketplace.
The best thing to do is to let the markets work out the problems and everyone wins. It just doesn't happen over night.

"In these difficult times", low skilled workers suffer because their contribution to the enterprise does not exceed the costs involved. "Good times" are an illusion. If you can find work when times are good, but are quickly discarded when an economic downturn occurs, you are a member of the lumpen proletariat. Your goal should be to develop yourself such that you have marketable job skills at all times.

If you think that Republicans are going to win any elections by focusing on abolishing the minimum wage, well, good luck with that, it's just not going to fly in this country at this time. If you're reasonable enough to accept that (not because it's the best answer, but because it's too hard of a sell to the American people right now) then what is the next best option? Indexing the minimum wage is simply a pragmatic acceptance of where we are today, not an indictment on all low-paying jobs.

It ought to be a clue for the "black community" when the political party they support both seeks to enable illegal immigration while keeping the abortion rate in that same "community" as high as possible.
Maybe black folks ought to see that the self-segregation of today is no better than the imposed segregation of yesteryear. Maybe they ought to take note of the reality that the political party their supposed "leaders" so support is indeed working against their interests in the long term.
Heck, it might even be good idea to end the whole "black community" thing altogether, thus joining the American community. Not do defend Romney, but using the Oregonian as a source? The conservatives in Oregon don't call it "the fish wrapper" for nothing. It's a way-way liberal paper in a very left-coast state.
Logic and common sense would dictate that a paleoconservative/constitutional conservative would appoint other paleoconservatives/constitutional conservatives.
It is interesting to track Romney's and his father's careers. Both successful capitalists and governors. Both ran for POTUS with one, Mitt, possibly making it. Could it be that Mitt is channeling his father to either surpass him or does his religion require it? I know that Mormons have a "god like" goal and adhere to strict lifestyles in order to achieve a "god like" status in the after life.
Mitt is an elite who understands that for the world to work, he and his elite friends need to build up, yet suppress the common man/woman for it is they who do the dirty work of the capitalist and fight the wars. The Romneys dangle the carrot out in front and tell them it is patriotic to achieve the carrot knowing it is difficult if not impossible to get. The same strategy is used in state sponsored lottery schemes.

The beef shortage caused textured soy protein to be used in schools and sold in grocery stores as a mainstream beef substitute. I wouldn't be surprised it this was a crony payoff to soy producers, but the unintended consequence of soy products consumed by pregnant women is, if the baby is male, to produce undersize genitals due to the plant estrogen in soy.
Under Obama crony capitalism has ruled with tens of billions of dollars wasted on green energy technology that is decades away from being any benefit to America.Big donor and big Wall St.money supported Obama in 08 and now big Wall St.money has shifted to Romney.Under Romney crooked,crony vulture capitalism will still rule the day.
