A Debate Between John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama
by Dan MitchellHere’s a clever video produced by the Winston Group, comparing the tax policies of two Democratic Presidents. Having previously highlighted Kennedy’s tax-cutting approach, it is painful for me to observe the class warfare approach of the Obama Administration.
What’s especially fascinating is that JFK intuitively understood the Laffer Curve, particularly the insight that deficits usually are the result of slow growth, not the cause of slow growth.

I am not educated enough on JFK and his policies to make an informed comment upon their fiscal differences, but there is definitely a little bit of fiscal conservatism sneaking through on JFK's side. It just goes to show how far to the left the Democratic Party has lurched in the past 50 years.

IF you want a country to prosper and grow you get gov't out of the way of businesses, entrepreneurs, innovation, keep taxes low, offer incentives for said businesses, keep gov't spending to a minimum… If you want to collapse an economy/ country raise taxes, increase regulation/ "red tape" for businesses, increase gov't spending, create massive social programs that are unsustainable and force the entrepreneur into poverty.

JFK's memory has been stolen by the left and mutated to fit their goals. This was a man who understood American greatness. Can't forgive his enabling public sector unions but he did put us on the moon.
Boehner today called for a spending and tax "freeze." Not good enough. Republicans are calling for an extension of the Bush tax cuts. That's not enough. Conservatives want a repeat of the Reagan Revolution. Still, that wouldn't go far enough.
What we need today is a Coolidge Revolution. Across the board cut in federal discretionary spending of 50% with a corresponding cut in personal and corporate taxes as well as slashing most of the regulatory burdens the feds have imposed on business. Also a gradual transformation of government entitlement programs into privately controlled investment and savings programs.
And just to tweak the "progressives," we can call this approach, Radical Americanism.
Kennedy was pro life and a fiscal conservative.
JFK wasn't raised a Muslim. Didn't have a Muslim father. Or name. He didn't hang out with folks who set bombs at federal buildings. He understood economics. He wanted to disband the Federal Reserve. He took personal responsibility for his mistakes. He never blamed Eisenhower. He fought for this country during World War II. He was a patriot. He wrote good books. He never called cops stupid when they were just doing their jobs. It is sort of hard to believe that JFK was a Democrat. Maybe the hard part is accepting Obama as a Democrat. Or even an American. Wherever he was born.
When did the Democratic Party ever value patriotism? I thought Republicans claim that the Democratic Party has always been the party of racism and segregation, including during the 60s when JFK was president.
How sad that BO never studied the history of some of his predecessors. Whoops, forgot for a moment that he only knows teleprompter and what his masters write.

Don't forget about defunding and downsizing some of the worthless federal agencies within our government.
80% cut in spending excluding defense.
Cut the pay for all federal workers (including congress) by 50%. They don't like it they can quit.
End lifetime pension and health plans for congressional representatives.
Its' near time to to go out into the streets and to their offices to demand this of them.

It is possible to be a patriot (to love your country) and still be a racist. For example, I believe Robert Byrd (D, WV), was both. So your logic is once again flawed. Now, sticking with the topic of patriotism, the democrats were patriots up until the late 60's through mid 70's, when they were taken over by the far left.

The radical leftists have never understood the the concept of the pendulum. That the further they pull it to one side, the further it swings to the other. No, that answers my question. I was just confused because I have seen literally thousands of comments on this site stating that the Democrats during JFK's era were evil, anti-American racists. In fact, it is standard fare for any article relating to African-Americans to be flooded with comments such as, "I don't know why blacks vote for Democrats; Democrats were the party of Jim Crow," etc. Excuse me for being confused that a Democrat from that same era is now being praised.

I am well aware of that. I'm just surprised to see that anyone else on this site thought that way. I have seen thousands of posts here from people saying that "racism" is anti-American. I took part in the Kennedy torch light parade down Michigan and Madison in downtown Chicago in Oct of 1960.

The fifties and sixties was the period of the civil rights act, and it wasn't a particularly stellar period in our history. However, Kennedy is usually dinged for the "Bay of Pigs" fiasco where the administration goofed so to speak. He was called indecisive. However, I could also be accused of the same if the threat of a nuclear WWIII with Russia rested on my shoulders. Fortunately for all concerned Kruschev backed down and pulled them. If you get the chance read up on JFK, It will be time well spent.
So what was the point? Did the author really think the actual facts, history, and video would convince anyone? Obama said more government would fix everything. The guy said it, it must be true. I mean really, facts and historical examples just get in the way of truth. Truth is so much easier than do all that crazy research. Less time consuming too. Truth is so much less work than facts.
Ok, so most of us here nod our heads in agreement and enjoy the article. The important thing is how does one convince the great lemming colony, that is the voting public, to actually pay attention to facts rather than truth. If this could be done, Keynes would be just as dead as socialism. Oh wait, half the voting public continues to vote for socialists too.
Republicans may get a big victory in the coming months, but it won't fix the problem. The problem is still a voting public that keeps clapping for those who proclaim "truth" and not enough voters who deal in facts and want actual liberty. Frankly, I hope the tea party is really part of a greater movement to use socialist tactics to defeat socialists at the ballot box. This very website has been responsible for examples of that. Let's hope it spreads.
