Obama Radical Big Labor Nominee Loses Vote – Sen. Brown Votes No

Thanks to numerous BigGovernment.com readers taking action, along with other concerned Americans, several national organizations, and Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) hold on Obama’s NLRB Nominee Craig Becker – several senators changed their positions and voted with the senate’s newest Senator, Scott Brown (R-MA) to continue debate on Becker’s qualifications to serve as one of five National Relations Board Members.
President Barack Obama’s nomination of Craig Becker to the National Labor Relations Board has failed on a 52-33 vote. The nomination required 60 votes to proceed. (Politico)
The two Democrat Senators who voted against cloture are Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) and Ben Nelson (D-NE).
CAUTION
Though Craig Becker’s was put on hold as a result of the cloture vote; President Obama may still appoint Becker to national Labor relations Board as a recess appointment to the Board as early as February 15th if congress keeps its current schedule.
However, Sen. Harry Reid’s focus and use of valuable legislative time on Big Labor paybacks like Craig Becker and Patricia Smith combined with the DC snowstorms may force Reid to call off the February recess to refocus on JOBS; well at least, his Big Labor Jobs Program.

Recess appointment incoming.
How much power will he have as a recess appointment? This was a great victory for the country. I'd like to know why so many Repblicans did not vote. If they are Progressive Republicnas we want them out of office as well. Progressive is the operative word not Republican or Democrat.

Obama can't get a damn thing done. And the nation breathes a deep sigh of relief. Unfortunately this is round 20 of a 100 round fight.
Oblamer is looking to see if it is possible over power the 'gag reflex' the public has to his policies. He his hell bent on getting as much of his agenda as possible, as quick as possible because he knows he doesn't have much time. His core belief is totally 180 degrees out of whack from most of this country. I have been feeling pretty good about independents who are coming to their senses but now I am getting really annoyed that they are the reason we have this problem. Pick your ground and stand on it. If we do not hold to principles and hold our elected reps to the same, then the country is lost. YEA party is the only viable answer but it needs to keep its message SIMPLE and CLEAN, just like our founding documents.
Thank god this is tag team. We are going to need a whole lot of good people to keep this from spinning out of control and a whole lot to clean up once it is over.

Has anyone calculated the amount of money this DC snow storm has saved the country? Every day that congress is not in session is another day they can't rob us blind. I say give them the rest of the year off,,,as a bonus for a job well done! Give each of them a couple milion dolllars and a really nice VIP Swag Bag and get the he!! out of there.

That they did; however, unlike this nominee's, Bolton's position was one that HAD TO be filled, which is why recess appointments were originally something a president was allowed to do.
If Obama tries that, it might not stand and could be fought and won.

This bipartisanship was due to the amount of hot water these two Dims are in back home.
Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) is trying her best to save her political butt, but I'm afraid it's a tad bit too late for that now. She knew that the majority of her constituency was against the HC reform bill and she voted for it anyway. Now she's trailing every candidate that's even considering running for her seat this fall!
Arkansas' other senator, Mark Pryor (D) did not vote at all, I see. Perhaps he will be a little quicker on the uptake.

But when his recess appointment was never confirmed due to a Democratic filibuster in the Senate. Given Senator Dingy Reid's poll number, along with the CFL's plunging poll numbers, this MAY fall the same way.

I'm not sure she was there to vote. She was standing beside Mayor Nagin for the Dat Tuesday Superbowl Parade. I called and left her a message on her phone system though. She's still toast. However, her brother will be replacing Nagin. Which is truly sad.

The "not voting" was a result of the "climate change" event that created travel issues for some areas getting in to D.C.
Obama just said he'd do the recess appointment, I think he just lost another couple seats in the senate.

I don't recall Bolton ever coming up for a vote either. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
I believe appointing someone who'd failed a cloture vote during the recess would be unprecedented, and I really don't think that the Dems in Congress will stand by and let Obama do this because it in essence removes the Senate's "advise and consent" role entirely — it will mean any President is free to appoint anyone during a recess for any position. Indeed, we may in future see a President simply not send any nominations to Congress and simply appoint his/her entire cabinet during the first available recess.
Look for a recess appointment. A maneuver that will only further anger the American people!

As a voting Virginian, I will not forget how Sen.'s Warner and Webb voted on this issue. We need to throw these bums out on the street! They are bad for Virginia and bad for the Nation. How can we hold our head up among the other States when we send trash like this to the US Senate? Get with it, my fellow Virginians!

Becker is the nominee for a THIRD ( a very low level office ) member of some dumb Labor Relations Board. BIG WHOOP !
President don't have the power to just appoint his cabinet, without the imprimatur of Congress; it's UNCONSTITUTIONAL !
He's already done that with a whole slew of "czars."
The recess appointments are coming. The senate can be bypassed if they reject their constitutional responsibilities.
