Obama Gives Big Labor Another Gift in Final Days of 2009

As 2009 fades away, President Obama has decided to let disclosure of hundreds of millions of dollars in forced-union-dues disclosure fade away too. Under current law and regulations valid until December 30th, union bosses were supposed to carefully document the billions of dollars they extract from workers as a condition of employment that they in turn pour into front groups and other “funds” each year.
A large part of the billions were about to be made public and reported on a Department of Labor disclosure form known as the Form T-1 Annual Report. But, that won’t happen now!
According to Bureau of National Affairs, Inc, “The Labor Department is issuing a final rule that extends for one year the deadlines for unions to file Form T-1 Trust Annual Report Reports.”
After allowing only 11 days of comments from the public, the Obama Administration postponed requiring reports for another year. During 2010, the Obama Administration states that it intends to completely eliminate the financial disclosure.
Again, the Obama Administration is blatantly paying back union bosses at the expense of rank-and-file workers.

What can be expected from someone who buys the presidency with labors money and assures a payback at the expense of the American Taxpayer? Obama's Socialist Nation… May it soon be a black stain in HISTORY.

This is what happens when your leaders don't have to worry about anything they do. Honestly, what are we going to do, about this? Come election time, no one is going to know about this. We need someone that has a clear message to move forward. I really hope that the Republicans can put forth a candidate in 3 years that means something. The only guy I know that can do it, is Mitt Romney, but he is Mormon and people actually vote based on someone's religion. If you look at Romney’s record and accomplishments in life, there is no one that can even come close. I know everyone loves Sara Palin, but honestly she wouldn’t be running anything. We would be the same boat, having a puppet for president. Obama doesn’t run anything; he is a yes man for like-minded people.
God Bless American, and I can’t wait till these visitors leave my country and we can continue on our great experiment.

To those like myself who work in civil service and are forced to give a portion of their paycheck to the union:
Remember to demand your political contributions back every year. I send a form to my local union and the AFL-CIO which we are affiliated with every year requesting this money be returned to me. They do make you justify the request, I usually make my case perfectly clear by stating that I don't want my money being used to support any political parties or candidates, union building activities, or other special interests. I get a small check back from each union, I'm sure it's not even close to what my real contributions are, but at least it's something.
The important point of this is however, if more people who work for these unions also demanded their political contributions back in a similar manor, we could really send a message to the union bosses as well as put a dent in their lobby efforts. Let's all begin with 2010. I think I usually send in the form around March or April. I'll remind everyone here to do the same when the time comes…
don't forget surfing….and taking more vacations that any working American can at taxpayer expense….
ive been a teamster twice neither of wich ws by choice it was either join or loose the job. except for our union rep i dont think any of us ever attended meetings. unlike the rep we worked all day and wanted to get home. by the way we had to work an extra hour to make up for the hours worth of breaks we had. never understood why they kept demanding more unpaid breaks.

DeMint and mark DeMoss who are very revered conservatives speak up about Mitt people will take a 2nd look at some of the old stuff online from Ronald Reagan's Heritage Foundation and the scholars there. Folks like replier STEPHEN will learn facts like the following: Those lesser educated conservatives such as Stephen feel Mitt is a Rino because they do not understand that much about Romney's home state of MA. Here's what isn't clear–the % of democrats in MA is 85% to a very small 13% republicans. So, if a republican wants to participate in the political process beyond just voting he has to know that pure conservatism in MA goes either completely unnoticed or is laughed at when attempted. To go up against such a powerful fixture is worse than a waste of time–you'll be pushed aside real fast! For a republican to get any where one has to exploit weakenesses (such as stupid or irresponsible spending–that's how Romney basicly won the Gov'ship) of democrats. He also tried to out "liberal" Kennedy not by being more liberal because the furthest limit was already in place. Rather, Mitt's plan was to deliver what was on the Books better than Kennedy. Practically everything Gov Weld and Romney and another Republican (I forget his name) did was a compromise. In an ultra heavy democrat state like MA there IS no other way to get anything done. And once in….Romney did conservative things that blasted his chances at re-election. Guys like Pat Buchcannon have written articles about Romney when he was MA Gov. This guy has skill sets that can't all be copied. Bill Bain and his Associates (before Romney) had something special and unique. All the partners at B and A voted to bring Mitt back to fix their problem because he was so famously great at fixing organisations!! And because every deal HAD TO HAVE 100% agreement on each deal they chose to do by all partners, many other profitible deals with more risk were voted down. 113% for 14 years straight–finding that anywhere besides at Mitts company is impossible! The real answer is Campaign Finance Reform, and this is what Progressives are fighting for, we want to take back the country from the corporatist that have taken over every aspect of the Federal government, we also realize as do many conservatives that this did not happen over night, but instead has been going on for over 30 years, I like to refer to it as Corporate Fascism. Fascism is a melding of Corporate and government interest. I think we are very close in our thinking, the only difference may be that Progressives believe that Corporatist are the puppet masters, and Conservatives believe the government is the puppet master, I think the over all evidence suggest that it indeed is the Corporatist that are in control.
I think the more important point here is, if you didn't want to join the 'union' in the first place NO ONE should have forced you to!!! Please tell me what the 'union' has done to make your life better?

For all of you 'progressives' out there that voted for this guy in November 2008, I wonder how you're going to feel that before the Bush tax cuts expire in January 2011, Barry and his gang of looters in both houses of Congress plan on raising your federal income withholding taxes, no matter what your income level, to the point where half of everything you 'earn' is going to go to the imperial federal government. That is what the health insurance reform bill will allow…for the imperial federal government to begin collecting 'premiums' immediately once it's signed into law and the 'benefits' don't kick in until sometime in 2014. This gives the imperial federal government the right to raise your taxes without actually calling it a 'tax increase' and they'll squander that money just like they've squandered social security and medicare withholding from your paycheck throughout the decades.
Explain in very specific detail, what you mean by, Obama's Socialist Nation! I'm looking for things that he has implemented into law, that you think is Socialism, if your answer does not meet the criteria of the term Socialism, maybe you should reconsider your language. I'll be waiting!!

Your thoughts are interesting, but just as Massachusetts is a heavily Dem state, we have a heavily Dem congress, and I worry that Mitt might find the need to compromise too much to get things done. That's the problem with the Reps that are there now. I'm from Ma, and look at our health care. Pro-lifers like myself are crying out in the wilderness here, as are 2nd Amendment folks. We feel we have no voice at all. People here, right before the 2008 campaign got into full swing, were saying "I just want to get Bush out of office this year". That gives you some idea as to their political knowledge. It's like talking to the wall.

Please it is your turn to explain EXACTLY what the correlation between Progressives and communism is, I'll be waiting. I do actually see the value of unions in civil service as far as collective bargaining new contracts goes. It would be chaotic if there were no union. What I don't like, is that the union is affiliated with all sorts of state and national unions which are constantly meddling in politics. I want my union dues going towards union work involved with my job, nothing else.
As for being forced to join, well that's not exactly accurate. They just always come up with a contract that forces you to pay the dues, you can make the choice whether or not you want to join. They argue they can do this because the employee will receive the union protections irregardless of if he bothered to join or not. I for one would be more than happy to not pay union dues and not receive a union lawyer if I was threatened by my boss because I'm a good worker and have no fear of being fired. I assume they don't offer you this option because they know those dues will dry up rather quick.
Be careful what you wish for. Some of you wished for Obama… and, we got him.
I get my history from reading HISTORY. Not a revised version like you have obviously been using. Look up Woodrow Wilson and his progressive movement sometime. Whenever I ask at meetings for our dues to go for activities that are meant to bring members closer together, or for ESL classes, etc., we get nothing. There's nothing we can do about it. Even if we get the Union out, (Unite Here, which I read gave lots of money to the Working Party in N.Y.) we'll probably have people voting in someone worse–you know who I mean.
With Liberal Democrats controlling the White House and the Congress this has turned into the most corrupt government possibly in the history of the United States. They are currently attempting to staff the U.S. Judiciary with like minded judges, assuring a rubber stamp their unconstitutional agenda. If we don't regain control over these criminals, we will all be at the beck and call of ACORN and SEIU.

Use something besides Wikipedia. Wilson and his progressives were enamored with the communist movement. The same style of dealing with the great depression was used then as it was THIS time. The book you are referring to is called The 5000 Year Leap, written by W. Cleon Skousen, a member of the right wing organization, John Birch Society, a group that opposed the civil rights act, believing it to be a communist movement, the FBI describe Skousen as extreme right wing, which was promoting anticommunism for obvious financial purpose. Skousen purposed a plan to the Reagan Administration, to convert the Social Security System to private accounts, this as you must know know, would have been an absolute disaster, these are just a few reasons why I will not read your recommendation, but the best reason for not reading your book of the month selection, is because it was endorsed by Glen Beck. If you really want to know what has led us to this melt down , you must read Ravi Bahtra's Greenspans Fraud, please research the author before you read, you will discover he is a very well respected economist.
I forgot to mention, Greenspan's Fraud was written 10 years ago, and predicted almost to the day, the melt down in the economy, while your friend Mr Skousen was endorsing the very policies that helped create the melt down in the economy!!!

We will agree to disagree on most things, but one thing if for sure, we both want only the best for the US, we just disagree how to get there. I am a Canadian who became engaged in the political discussion when I began hearing lies about our health care system, and felt the truth needed to be told, I am not saying the Americans need our system, just don't lie about ours! Anyway maybe we will run into each other again on another topic.

There's no such thing as "big labor" anymore. I wish there was. Unions certainly represent my interests better than the Chamber of Commerce does and to be sure, your average American is more likely to end up a bum on the street than the next Michael Bloomberg.
