Is Kirk Dillard the New Dede Scozzafava?
by Dana LoeschJust when I thought that Dede Scozzafava had been vanquished to the outer reaches of the liberal fringes, up pops her specter in Illinois. Poor Illinois. Hasn’t its people suffered enough?
Kirk Dillard is one of a handful making a bid for the governor’s office. He’s a classic RINO, a man who decided to sell his soul and his voters in exchange for political relevancy during the 2008 election by way of joining the peanut gallery in lathering on praise for Obama.
Dillard took his adoration for a man who voted against allowing citizens to conceal carry (fine for retired police officers) and providing medical care for abortion survivors (the infants, not the women) by recording a campaign spot for him.
I assumed that anyone wanting to run on the GOP ticket would be doing so to offer voters a disparate choice, not to be liberal lite with an R by their name. Perhaps I assumed too much of Kirk Dillard.
I hear from tea partiers, various conservative groups constantly about taking action, effecting actual change. Here is a chance for those exact people to put their money and their time where their mouth is and scratch a RINO, another Dede Scozzafava off the Republican ticket. So many people are celebrating Scott Brown’s victory but don’t realize that in order for any of this to have amounted to any sort of worth, Brown’s victory needs to be replicated eleventy-fold across the country.
I remarked in July that this journey wouldn’t be easy, it’s not a task for pansies, it’s not a task for people who complain about the nanny state government but are content to warm their hands by another’s fire with nanny state activists. The privilege of a free society is that every man, woman, and child has the opportunity – and the obligation as a free people – to determine the trajectory of their country, of a political race. They have a chance to influence this race, and others.
Kirk Dillard is the epitome of what’s wrong with the Republican party. Writes Illinois Review:

its hard to know who to vote for here in illinois. the last governor is awaiting trial for trying to sell obama's seat in the senate, the guy before him is already in jail. one has a "r" by his name, the other has a "d" by his. dillard may be a rino, but he was endorsed by one of the fav "r" governor's in illinois, jim edgar, but there are quite a few people running, and it's hard to tell one from the other. also will this once red state ever get the state house and senate back. if they stay blue, i don't think the man in charge will do much better, i just hope we can get someone who can stay out of jail.

Kirk's main opponent in the race for the Senate is Patrick Hughes–the real conservative. We'd like to see Patrick defeat this RINO and bring some Conservative representation to this blue state!

Thank you for posting this, Dana! I was hoping the Illinois races would go national on a site like this. I did early voting here in Chicago today, and I almost voted for Dillard because "people in the know" think he's got the best chance against a Dem. Instead I voted for Adam A. (and Patrick Hughes, NOT Kirk – another RINO) after watching him in a debate, and after the Lech Walesa endorsement. Adam's got a great chance IF people hear about that endoresment, because of the large Polish population here.

Or you can choose Dan Proft or Adam Andrzejewski who are both open, honest and conservative. Dan is a political commentator that has been involved in the system but not in elected office. Adam is a businessman and hangs his hat on changing the system.

Hughes is an ass. He came to a candidate forum here in beautiful Peoria. He stayed for a few minutes and then said he had to go to a phone interview – Levin I think. He came back at the end and said that he just spoke up for the tea party movement to 8 million people. What an arrogant ass – he doesn't speak for me. I don't know that anyone can do anything with Illinois' corrupt system, so the more important vote is Hughes for Senator over Kirk. I'm a Center-Right Independent who used to be a Democrat and Kirk makes me want to gag. He is easily worse than Scozzafava.

Kingston Mines is still there but it's nothing like it used to be – went a couple years ago and was sick how they ruined it. No more dark dank blues and jazz hang out – now it's divided into two seperate rooms and it's lit up like State Street, totally destroyed the ambience of what it once was. Illinois is a lost cause. The corruption is so deeply rooted from the cop on the beat, up through the union appointed police chief, union backed mayors, city councils, state reps, attorney general, governer, congressmen/women, senators. It truly is a way of life.
