Claire McCaskill: Yes on C-Span Conference, Yes on Fines
by Dana LoeschFriday morning Jamie Allman and I interviewed Claire McCaskill who gave further signs of Democrat infighting as she agreed to issue a press release saying that she supports having a broadcasted conference committee on the fauxcare negotiations. She was challenged as to why, whenever on the Sunday morning talk shows or making other media rounds, she had not taken the opportunity to voice dissent against the actions of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to make the deliberations private.
She also acknowledged that the legislation does enforce penalties for Americans who do not choose government-run fauxcare.
McCaskill also singled me out by saying my calling her out on her fauxcare vote (because the majority of Americans and Missourians do not support it and her approval rating is sliding as a result) was “politicizing the issue.” I’d say not making yourself available to your constituents (her staff was nice but callers rarely get through and the senator obviously disregards the polling data) and voting for an unconstitutional bill which abuses the commerce clause for the sake of giving Democrats a win under the guise of providing real reform while not actually providing real reform – is real politicizing.
McCaskill did release her statement:
“Hundreds of hours of debate on health-csare reform — both in committee hearings and on the Senate and House floors — have been open to the public through broadcast on C-SPAN,” her statement read.
“I believe that the best way for these negotiations to occur is through the conference committee process, and I have communicated my opinion to the leadership of my party in the Senate.”
Kudos on that end – but so what? I’m not lathering on praise for her doing the job she was elected to do; that awards mediocrity. McCaskill still supports the egregiously unconstitutional aspects of this legislation; her wanting the discussion of merging two faulty bills together does nothing to change that.

I don't trust the woman. Pretending to be honest while still lying (she has voted for deathcare) is just as bad as being dishonest.

Senator MassKill has a bigger agenda. She hopes to appeal to a broader range of the electorate by appearing to be a more "conservative" free thinker. By doing so, she raises her profile and makes herself a viable VP candidate to replace that DOWG (dumb old white guy) Joe Biden.
The bottom line is, Claire Bear DOES support the fauxcare bill, making her a clear servant of the Party, not the People.
The public has already heard too much and don't like what the congress is cooking up. They have to get the reconciliation done in secret so they can rush it through a vote before the public catches on to what's in it.
In November, those that vote for it can deny that they really understood the bill since they didn't have the time to read it. They will act the victim and want another chance at election time. I don't think that will fly for most voters, but who knows.
She's much like Ben Nelson, who waits till after they've voted yes to complain as though they wanted to vote no. It's designed to lessen the fallout for ignoring the will of the majority, in hopes of salvaging the next election.
I had the same experience. I send emails to her, in one case where I suggested a very legitimate addtition to the bill: to reduce costs, let doctors take a tax deduction for seeing some paiients for free. Lawyers, like Claire Bear, get to write off pro bono work. Why can't doctors do it?
Of course, I have never received a response for any of my emails. Kit, btw, seems to be spending more time writing books, and he doesn't answer, either.
I suggest a club for these female turncoat – has beens…. like the movie "Ex-Wives Club. I'll have to think of a catchy title.

Here's the thing – government-run health care would be better than what they are proposing. If the government is going to do something, they should do it. A good example is how roads are done. Instead of the government just building the roads they add a layer of middlemen by CONTRACTING it out to a bunch of shysters and fly-by-night companies that do slipshod work. Look at how the autobahn has held up compared to American roads! Geez, some Roman roads are probably better! LOL!

Watching the Democrats put a bill together that absolutely angers the citizenry is dumbfounding. All they had to do was write one page that stops preexisting conditions and denial of service while allowing people to purchase across state lines. It could protect Doctors from those lawsuits with tort reform written on the next page. It wouldn’t steal a half trillion dollars from Medicare to pay for who knows what entitlements.
It could use real math instead of the obviously transparent ploy to make themselves believe their plan is deficit neutral. Most freshmen in High School can pick out the trickery. Americans aren’t that stupid and so we know they will pass this monstrosity and then hope they don’t have to pay the price for committing treason against the people they are supposed to serve.
This is treason because it goes against the will of the people yet every Democrat is going to pass a bill they know will bankrupt the treasury and make a general disaster of the health care system possibly to the point it can never be repaired.

I just don't understand why the residents of Missouri were duped into believing that she would represent them properly. I live on the west coast and I can understand the lemmings voting for the democrats here, but I thought there was a little more common sense in the "heartland".
I seem to remember all those "hours" of debate over crap that had ALREADY BEEN WRITTEN in secret and the "debate" wasn't there to be able to actually CHANGE anything, but to just say NO to every attempt to actually let ANYONE read the bill BEFORE they were required to vote on it, most of the time later THAT SAME DAY – on 2,000+ pages.

Have had the opportunity to live in many countries and have seen differerent country's politics/policies. Mcaskill sounds really arrogant. They truly believe they can just print money , penalized everyone and distribute it to their favorite constituents.

McCaskill stated that she read the entire bill. I think the congressmen who vote for the bill should be held to reading and understanding what they are voting for. Many of them don't want to take too much time away from important things like fund raising and staying in office.

McCaskill has been passing herself off as a conservative-to-moderate Democrat for over two decades, and at one time that persona may have been legit. She cut her teeth in Jackson County politics, variously as a county legislator, county executive and county prosecutor. She got elected county executive by being less insane than her opponent (also a Democrat), the infamous Carol Coe, a "black activist" and now-disbarred lawyer. All McCaskill had to do to beat Coe was run an ad in the KC Star stating her name and that she was running against Carol Coe. No substance at all. Coe predictably blasted the ad as "racist" (no explanation as to why) and McCaskill hilariously replied along the lines of "If the mention of Carol Coe's name carries negative connotations, that's not my fault." Being not-Carol Coe got her her first stab at prominence. (Cont.)
It was around the time McCaskill was either a county legislator or executive (she would become the elected prosecutor a few years later) that she gave an impromptu talk to my law school class about her experiences looking for a job as a new lawyer. At the time of this speech, she apparently didn't aspire to anything beyond local politics, as she talked herself down, saying she was not a great law student herself and that she had found her first job, in the Jackson County prosecutor's office (as an assistant prosecutor), "because they needed a warm body." Apparently the same hiring criterion still applies for Missouri voters when choosing a U.S. senator. (Cont.)

She's had great practice sounding conservative-to-moderate but little practice acting that way once out of local politics. Whether she has any true conservative instinct anymore is hard to say, and it is irrelevant where she lacks the stones to buck the party Dons in any event.

I would hope that thoose of you who are making on line posts to all the different blogs, also are making every effort to voice your concerns to your Senator and or Congressman, I have been sending a steady stream to my Senator "Bill Nelson" and my Congressman "Alan Grayson". Neither have ever responded to my concerns other than their already canned responses. The more this goes on the more determined I and many others are to not only vote them all out, regardless of party, but to again do the actual leg work and volunteering to make it happen. Hope majority of you posting here feel the same way. Listened to this interview. I will give her props for accepting the invitation, however, calling for CSPAN to televise the conference committee is just cover for her. She knows it will never happen, but now she can say she called for it. Watch how Claire votes, she only votes against the majority when she knows that the votes are there to give her cover.
