Massachusetts Voters Could Make History on January 19
by Dana Loesch
Brown’s chances have been speculative as the most recent poll, until today, was one from November which showed Brown trailing Coakley by 58-27 with 15% undecided. That’s changed since Rasmussen released their latest poll which shows Coakley’s lead sputtering:
State Attorney General Martha Coakley holds a nine-point lead over her Republican rival, state Senator Scott Brown, in Massachusetts’ special U.S. Senate election to fill the seat of the late Edward M. Kennedy.A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in the state finds Coakley ahead of Brown 50% to 41%. One percent (1%) prefer some other candidate, and seven percent (7%) are undecided.
Validating what we all thought: that Scott Brown can win this race. Especially if you consider:
The health care issue is expected to play a big role in the debate and Massachusetts voters hold modestly favorable attitudes about the proposed legislation. In the Bay State, 53% favor the plan working its way through Congress and 45% oppose it.
However, as is the case nationally, those who feel strongly about the bill are more likely to be opposed. The overall figures include 36% who Strongly Oppose the plan while 27% Strongly Favor it.
This will be a referendum on fauxcare.
The independent voters is what will get Coakley:
Both candidates get better than 70% of the vote from members of their respective parties, but Brown leads 65% to 21% among voters not affiliated with either of the major parties.
This dovetails with earlier polling which showed that the number of people identifying themselves as Democrats is dropping; also it’s the rise of the independents. Independents are also the group which played the deciding role in the Virginia and New Jersey races last year. Democrats should have been paying attention:
The independent voters who powered President Obama and Democrats to victory in 2008 fled to Republicans in Tuesday’s elections, helping the GOP romp to a ticketwide sweep in Virginia and a stunning victory over an incumbent Democratic governor in New Jersey.
Virginia was a big state for Obama to win in ‘08, too. Barely a year later it went red. Why? Because of independents:
The two gubernatorial contests have been deemed by some analysts as the first major referendum on President Obama’s administration. Republicans leaders, demoralized after landslide defeats in 2006 and 2008, have been hoping to capitalize on wins in Virginia and New Jersey to help fuel a nationwide Republican resurgence.
They were buoyed by a huge swing of independent voters to the Republican column.
The race in Massachusetts will be decided by independents – which doesn’t bode well for Coakley considering a) Brown leads with that voting bloc and b) as referenced above, the state is polling more conservative on issues that she in her platform.
Of course, being backed by the corrupt SEIU and caught in a scandal isn’t helping Coakley, either.
Scott Brown is a vote to legislatively confirm that which voters have shown they desire by way of the polls. Coakley would sell out their interests and serve as nothing more than Reid, Pelosi, and Obama’s rubber stamp on fauxcare, cap-and-trade, and the further socialization of our private industries.
A perfect example of how all politics is local … except when the outcome decides the fate of a nation.

I will be voting for him.
Seems like a stretch, but I'll be pulling for him.
You can be sure the democrats will do everything in their power to ensure a democratic win. The timing is critical as they want the healthcare bill done ASAP, voted on, and sent to the President prior to the State of the Union Address. A January 19 election could disrupt the 60 votes in the Senate if it goes Republican.
C'mon Massachusetts….you can do it!!
Go Brown Go!!!!!
I sure hope he is elected.
Scott Brown is my current State Senator and I volunteer on his campaign. He has a great chance to make history in Massachusetts. All who read this great page, please support Scott any way you can.
http://brownforussenate.com/
Please donate your time or funds. We need to counter John "Liveshot"Kerry vote.
Hey I didn't think the republicans would have won in NJ, but they did. I think he has a good chance of winning if the word gets out. In who knows hopefully the health care bill will take longer and the final vote will happen after election so if he wins the bill is DEAD.
Just gave my $9.12 to Mr. Brown's campaign. I know it's not a lot, but I'm supporting you from California.
You can donate and help with phone banks from your own home here—-> http://bit.ly/6FkIoM
Let all head to Mass. pull an ACORN and vote regular and often. All silliness aside you folks in Mass. get out and vote. Return the home of the great Adams brothers to some kind of dignity, and reclaim the intent of the founding of this great country.
I totally understand…………………my wife was from California. They charge you to spit on the sidewalk out there. You guys need to break up the state. North and South California.
This is great, i just sent this page to a bunch of people and hopefully they will start to realize, he can win.
Sure, you can all stay at my house. Or as Monty Python said Bring out your dead. In Mass, the dead vote……often.
I wish I may , I wish I might……..
I sure hope the deafening silence on the part of conservative outsiders is based on some knowledge that a backlash on the part of Mass. voters would have a detrimental affect on Brown's chances of winning this most important election. Never, has such a local election held such national importance.
The senate reconvenes on January 19th. Question: Can the senate vote on final passage of the health care fiasco on that day at 12:01 AM? Since the House reconvenes on the 12th, their work could already be done. If so, will the vote by this senate seat be cast by the current "temporary" Dem senator from Mass? Is the current rush by both houses an attempt to have a vote on this matter before Brown, God willing, is sworn as the new senator from Mass? Could this bill be signed by Obama before the polling places are open in Mass? It certainly seems that way given the current lackadaisical manner in which the Dems are backing Coakley…..
This Senate seat has been occupied by a Democrat since John F. Kennedy was sworn in on January 3, 1953.
The last Republican who held a Senate seat in the State of Massachusetts was Edward Brooke, who left office January 3, 1979.
As someone once said, in a democracy, you get the government you deserve …
how wonderful it would be if he indeed won that seat. if that happens, here are my predicitons:
the certification of that victory would be 'delayed' due to inconsistencies
the senate would rush to get the socialized medicine bill to the floor for a vote
reid would refuse to swear him in until after the HC vote
lawsuits, hanging chads, SEIU intimidation – the whole nine yards.
GOOD LUCK! GOD SPEED!
Now you know why Obama's minions want to control the internet…this FCC "net neutrality" garbage is aimed at us…
We need to chase "Dingy Harry" Reid out NOW! Urge him to QUIT @ http://reid.senate.gov/contact/
This is the best golden opportunity for Massachusetts to throw out the old and bring in a man who will do the right thing for all of us. This guy is what we need, I volunteer and contribute to the Brown campaigne. I want to send a message to Washington. This could be the shot heard around the country. Let's get Scott Elected.
It's great to dream about Brown winning, but realistically Coakley has already won. I'm not a Coakley supporter, but as a realist, we have to admit the MA will not have a Republican senator. I hope that the margin of victory is small enough that both parties will see it as a message.
Wow! not bad – regrettably, we've seen this "movie" before
Dodds replacement who will run for his seat…

Maybe time for some CHANGE in Taxachusettes? I urge conservative and libertarian voters in MA to support Brown. I have sent my campaign donation. He only has a few days to make up a fairly large gap, but his prospects still make it possible. Just make sure to vote him out in six years! Term limits.
I hope Brown wins.
Yes. Support a man who opposed state income tax cuts, favored Romney-care and will not abolish a single tiny spending program of any type.
All Sheeple need to bow down and worship the State.
That's the spirit! LOL!
Nobody but old farts want your moral conservatism, or as I dare to put it: Christian Taliban,
Never fear. ACORN will take care of this. And AG Holder will be sending some black terrorists from Philadelphia to make sure only the right people vote. "Law Enforcement" will again bow and scrape before their Masters and then do whatever they're told.
Bring ten others with you and tell Brown not to be in a big hury to concede if it looks like Coakley wins by a few votes. ACORN will be committing voter fraud, and Brown needs to expect shenanigans.
How is he on kids? Does he support children or pedophiles(real ones, not the fake ones Coakley trumped up)
"expect shenanigans"
That would make a great anti-lib t-shirt
John Kerry and Barney Frank should be next…………………
There is a site for Frank.

I'm voting Brown and my son is manning the phone bank. We'll get there. Check out this blog at the Boston Globe: http://bit.ly/8u327G
I contributed to Scott Brown's campaign and I'm from CT. Now in CT we get to deal with the Dodd exit. The best thing for CT would have been for him to run, have every creepy unethical thing he's done for 30 years brought back up, over and over and for him to go down to an embarassing defeat and possibly taking all the other Dems (Larson, DeLauro, Murphy and Courtney) with him. Now we'll just get another Democrat party hack like Dick Suethemall instead. The old saying is correct, we get the government we deserve.
GO SCOTT BROWN!!!!
Barry
Mass. is the State where the American Revolution began. Come on Mass. do it again. Let your State start the 2010
American revolution against Marism, Socialism and Communisim.
The revolution of 2010 is started. Good Luck.
Vote out all the DEMS. and the RINO'S
Yes but I'm afraid this "movie" will have more sequels than ROCKY.
This is true – see front page of today's Boston Globe http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/ar...
Dear Lord,
I know there are many who need you to tip the scale in their favor in a dire moment. If you can see your way clear to give Mr. Brown just a little help in the special election you would be giving a land founded to allow all faiths an opportunity to live in peace a chance to remain at peace. Please hear our prayer.
what a troll
If the people of Mass vote for Scott Brown to be their next senator it will have to be with the knowledge that they are providing one more Republican sheep to join the 40 who currently vote as a herd against progressive legislation.
I guess anything is possible, but I like Coakley's chances.
No, they'd have to file for cloture first, which requires 24 hours after filing before the cloture vote (which is when you need 60) … the real question is when Kirk's (the temporary Senator from MA, not to be confused with the Rep Senate candidate Kirk from IL) authority expires. As I hear it it's when the special election is "concluded" – but does that mean at 8:01 pm on Jan 19, or does it mean when the Senate is prepared to seat the replacement, which could easily be a week or more later if there's a dispute or court case.
So what's next, now that you have established yourself as a fool…
The best thing is that a vote for Brown will keep liberalized health care from becoming a reality.
Not exactly, but if it works for you, so be it.
He has no chance. Next issue.
I'm a 23 year old Mass girl and I'm voting for Scott B!
I used to live in Massachusetts and would like to see him in office. Dems have been in control too long! Go Brown! I live in Texas now and thankfully have a republican governor who has some of the moral values I hold too most!
I’m Mass resident and I’m not surprise of Rasmussen poll. I have been saying for long time
The odds in favor of Scott is much better than people think. Because If Martha was ahead
The Boston trash i.e Globe will put it on the first page. And The other is, Mass voters
Are having buyer –Obami- remorse and displease with Gov Patrick. I believe
Mass voter will bury the health care monster along side Teddy.
If you want to kill the health care monster. Please Help

Let's make history and vote Brown in and take back this great nation from the socialists. "We've only just begun to fight!"
Hey Massachusetts. This is your golden opportunity to demonstrate your Tea Party heritage. Vote for Brown. I'll chip in to fumigate the old lifeguards office. I'm certain the stench still lingers.
If the good people of Massachusetts elect Brown, I will book at least a week vacation there- I'm serious. I tip well, and I might not be the only one-
Say, isn't your football team called Patriots… as were your forefathers?
Do the right thing- just have a serious look at these two candidates, and you tell me who deserves a crack at the job…
http://reaganiterepublicanresistance.blogspot.com...
[...] Voter frustration over ObamaCare, scandals relating to Miss Coakley prosecuting an innocent man for child sexual abuse during her time as an attention hound D.A., and the shift in independent voters away from the Democrats, mean that even in this heavily Democrat state, Brown is within striking distance in the polls, which have been trending in his direction over time. [...]
If I see any of this unpatriotic behavior, I will be reporting it here.
If you SEE it, you should be RECORDING IT on video.
Bring pepper spray in case the Panthers show up, too.
I hope extreme measures will be taken to guard the ballot box. As some Ruskie once said," It isn't who votes that counts; it's who counts the votes.".
I pray he wins!
Granted each candidate has 70% of their party votes but 70% of zero is zero. There just aren't that many republicans in Massachusetts so Brown has to win nearly all the independent votes which is unlikely.
Thanks to MA being an ACLU state, recording media without consent is illegal. No doubt this has helped keep this state in its lovely state of corruption for many years.
All politics is local.
This country can be changed, but it must be done one precinct, and one candidate at a time. Every RINO must go, and a clean sweep must be made, with conservative candidates, with conservative values. Morally, ethically, and fiscally, it will make a difference.
What's more illegal? Voter intimidation and fraud or recording without consent?
My condolences to you for having to live in MA. I'm stuck in NY, so I'm not doing much better!
I think any candidate on the ballot in Massachusetts could win if they have ideas they believe in that the voters also believe in.
It's a life lesson on what the 'law' means; The 'law' is what the lawyers and the judges interpret as they dance and milk the public, with the process they created.
With an executive, such as Deval Patrick or Barack Obama, who forgo proper interpretation and literal enforcement, you have growing distrust, disrespect and abandonment of the rule of law. In MA, we are seeing this problem manifested, in drunken, disorderly politicians, patronage to illegal aliens and criminal deviants, open unchecked corruption and graft.
As for NY, all I can say is the venue we survive in, is the crucible by which our discontent rises from the molten slag.
Wouldn't want People to confuse state and U.S. issues, right? The last (U.S.) Senator did plenty of bowing. Let's hope the next one can stand up …
Just keep ACORN out of the way!!!
Cast your vote boldly!
I now have real HOPE ! I will be voting for Scott Brown !
Perhaps the People are gaining the knowledge that "progessive legislation" is contrary to their American ideals. I guess anything is possible …
Your country thanks you!
Dana –
Great article!
The genisus of CHRI$ DODD's retirement today actually began over 1 year ago, with the formation of http://www.DumpChrisDodd.com – they were VERY ACTIVE. This group hounded Dodd ( in all kinds of weather) at every appearance. Sold "DumpDodd" stickers, t-shirts, and yard signs. Made youtube videos, etc. This was all BEFORE the TEA PARTY MOVEMENT! And then Tea Party people of course added fuel to the fire.
This is the untold story of today. Maybe someone will write about it. This ACTIVE GROUP of CITIZENS helped to solidify public opinion, which resulted in lower and lower poll numbers for Dodd.
Connecticut Score in the 1st quarter of 2010: PATRIOTS 1 CORRUPTICRATS 0
We will keep Massachusetts and Connecticut in the Democratic fold, but the retirement of Byron Dorgan is really going to hurt. The popular Republican governor of ND will win that seat easily.
See, this is why you people are always so shocked on election day. You listen to Rush and Fox News, then you go spread that word on biggovernment.com. Pretty soon you believe the Dems have no chance. Election day comes and you are shocked and horrified. They have been lying to you for so long that even when it is such an obvious lie like, maybe you have a shot in Massachusetts, you want to believe so badly.
Trust, but verify.
I just heard on Hannity that Coakley, as DA, didn't prosecute a man who raped a 24 month old with a hot curling iron until the mother filed charges against her.
Good thing the guy didn't do something really nasty like waterboard a terrorist.
"WE"? Care to be a little more specific? Data would help.
You pathetic moron. Massachusetts has provided some of the worst legislators over the past 50 years. It is a great state for liberty and freedom to begin once again. Coakley is more of the Kennedy, Kerry, Frank losers. Lay down with the liberals; get up smelling like garbage.
I am dismayed with your math. However, there are probably more than 70% of People who can see through your words. Care to back up your words with data?
I live in MA, and I refuse to believe this. Coakley has not already won, far from it. She's got little support, even from dems, most people can't stand her. What votes she does get will be from mindless, disconnected people who've been voting (D) since JFK and haven't looked around since then at the state of the party or of the Commonwealth. Sure, she'll get some from the progs here, but Scott Brown has a real chance. I hope you'll vote for him! I am.
I vote against Kerry every time he comes up for reelection and will continue to do so. Me and this one guy out in Western Mass. Kerry's not going anywhere, nor is Barney. But we have a REAL CHANCE to balance our representation in D.C. with Scott Brown and to send a real message that we aren't electing someone as despicable as Martha simply because she has a (D) after her name. Kerry already has one vote, why give him two?
Calm down Paul. This is a discussion about political races in Massachusetts. No one has insulted your sister.
The discussion is about the Massachusetts senate race. I mentioned Connecticut and North Dakota because they are in the news. All are based on my personal opinion so I'm not sure what kind of data you are looking for…
Thank you for the info.
"WE"? Care to be a little more speific? Data would help.
I PRAY THAT HAPPENS, BUT I'M LOOKING FOR APPOINTMENTS MADE BEFORE THEN!
If you have been wondering why the Senate is behind closed doors with health care reform and Obama want's it passed as soon as possible, you now have your answer. If they lose seats to the special elections
and lose more seats in 2010, health care reform is finished. And all Republican candidates should take notice. "We the people are not going to take anymore out of control spending from either party."
If it becomes a close election, don't worry about it, the Demo will win. Sometimes I don't think people realize what one party propaganda media means. Or there is 6 BILLION in left over 'stimulus' funds which simply equates out to Democrat slush fund. No Mass isn't going Repub, never happen, nor will Reid lose his seat in 2010.
$9.12
I love it!!
The voters of the state of Mass have an opportunity to send a very strong message by electing Scott Brown to replace a Kennedy. Explosion for sure
I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO CONTRIBUTE TO SCOTTS CANPAIGN!!!!!!
Score one more vote for freedom when he wins!
The only thing I worry about in this race is what games will Harry Reid play to prevent him from being seated in time for the pending "Death Care" vote?
Don't just hope, GIVE! The only way to help good candidates is to open our wallets. The only way the LIBERALS are getting elected is by buying votes. I, and I believe the rest of us should be sick and tired of the 21%, LIBS, running the rest of by theie BRIBES and crooked ways!
Massachusett's: What an amazing opportunity to teach Nancy Polosi, Harry Reid and our President that we do not want our lives turned over to our government! We are a free market economy. We are a free people. Keep it that way! Please vote for Brown!!
