Its a Wrap: The Most Underreported Stories of 2009
by Dana LoeschThis year saw the birth of the tea party movement, the rise of administrative radicalism, and a suppression of information unlike ever before seen. Were it not for the new penny presses, blogs and the investigative citizens who author them, much of this information would be six feet under. When the media goes state and becomes nothing more than an echo chamber for the government, the task of sharing truth falls to the original keepers of liberty: the American people.

These are the most Underreported Stories of 2009:
1. CLIMATEGATE
Al Gore needs something to sustain him and his big pimpin’ life down at his ginormous, energy-sucking mansion in Tennessee. Thus the green market was born, a made-up market chock full of products like carbon credits and other Willy Wonka (but not as cool) ish items for people to buy as a way to feel good about themselves and their contribution to the planet without having to actually do anything. They don’t need a God! They need a Prius!
Celebrities Botoxed within an inch of their lives began popping up in PSA’s about global warming, about how we need to drive inefficient clown cars that run on electricity (which is still produced in coal-powered plants but hey, whatever) to save the planet. Musicians like Sheryl Crow crowed about using just a square of toilet paper to remove waste that has a greater street value than her latest album. All the hubris manifested in regulations handed down from Congress upon the automobile industry, the coal industry, et al., until finally! Cap’n Trade appeared in the House.
Cap’n Trade will rape and pillage your energy bills and even boss you around when it comes to remodeling or rehabbing a home. It’s almost like … congress has nothing better to do.
Then … there was Climategate. Russian hackers revealed emails from a British university (whose edicts on global warming are included in the U.N.’s decision-making process on climate) which showed that the scientists basically had no idea what they hell they were talking about but they did know that their original assessment of increased global temperatures was unsupported by data, thus, “hide the decline.”
2. THE TEA PARTY MOVEMENT
I feel bad for the staffer that had to check Nancy Pelosi’s pants after over a million tea party protesters marched past her window on September 12, 2009.
The tea party movement sprung from plain old disenchantment, disappointment, and outright anger at being fleeced by a government who mistook their primary job as being “spend cash mon-nay” rather than execute the Constitution. What began as a few groups of several hundred people gathering in the cold back in February morphed into a movement so big that now talk of PACs and third parties (total crap idea, that latter) are commonplace and a Republican candidate has no hope of winning an election without the tea party support.
The most misreported and misunderstood thing about the tea party is its political leanings. The tea party has no political leaning. It stands straight for limited government, low taxes, and liberty for all. Disagreement with those tenets is an accidental admission of socialism on the part of the antagonist. The beauty of the tea party movement is that it is independent and thus a true check and balance of the Republican and Democrat parties. It’s not a pawn of the GOP, thus untouchable in criticism of the Democrats – I view it as an unattached conscience of the Republican party.
The tea parties have been smeared, and while some haven’t helped against the charges of astroturf due to their worship of both God and money, the movement is pure.
A new version of the Minuteman has sprung from this movement: the patriot activist with the Gadsen flag on her shoulder and a video recorder or camera in her hand.

3. FORT HOOD AND ISLAMIC EXTREMISM IN THE U.S.
A guy with a history of terrorist activity (the FBI had been watching him for months) and bent on mass murder screams “ALLAHU AKBAR!” before shooting a pregnant soldier point-blank at a military base and the media would rather cover its genitals like a dog and cower in the corner rather than define the terrorist as a terrorist.
Rather, the media interviewed people who said that shooter Malik Nadal Hasan had “trouble fitting in” and isn’t it so sad how he was treated differently because of his religion? Lightbulb moment: hey! Perhaps he was treated differently because he felt prejudiced against his fellow soldiers whom he viewed as infidels who should die?
Hasan had “soldier of Allah” printed on his business cards, for crying out loud.
Nevermind that he was a participant in Obama’s transition Homeland Security team. Oops!
4. ACORN and SEIU
Only in America can you offer to help smuggle in underage sex workers as part of your description as a taxpayer-funded “community organizer” and still get federal dollars after the scandal breaks. James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles exposed ACORN for what it truly is: a malignancy that consumes the life out of depressed areas that it never, ever improves, ever, all in the name of making residents dependent upon the teat of government welfare so as to exploit them for votes later”neighborhood organizing.”
Michael Walsh explains the repurcussions of the dynamic duo’s work:
The Senate voted 83-7 in favor of de-funding the controversial group. The House voted 345-75 to cut ACORN’s funding, and more than 20 states have demanded either a full investigation of ACORN or that they lose their funding. The IRS also ended up cutting their connections to the group.
O’Keefe and Giles made a mockery of the media who retaliated by refusing to cover the story, further hammering the last nail into their own coffin.
Despite all of this, Big Government wrote how after this egregious corruption, Democrats like Roland Burris still found a way to push for continued ACORN funding by slipping a provision requiring such in Harry Reid’s senate fauxcare bill.
SEIU shares #4 with SCORN (typo and it stays) after several of its purple people beaters attacked Kenneth Gladney (a black street vendor who I’d previously seen selling pro-Obama buttons at Obama’s Arnold, MO townhall) at Russ Carnahan’s townhall in Mehlville, Missouri after profiling him and assuming him to be a black conservative. One of the country’s most shocking and underreported race-provoked attacks grew worse when his brother, Keith Gladney, spoke out in his brother’s defense and is said to have been canned from his job two days before Christmas as a result.
At the time of this writing neither Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, or President Obama have offered to arrange a beer summit between Kenneth Gladney and Andy Stern.
5. HCR COVER-UP
The majority of the country opposes Harry Reid’s Senate bill but nevertheless, Reid bribed it through. Government media served as a mouthpiece for the administration and its policy on fauxcare, giving the President multiple hours of free network prime-time hours to peddle his snake oil on the airwaves.
The Senate vote marks the turning point in our government where those elected to represent the constituency failed to do the jobs for which they were placed in office. It was a vote of tyranny, not of representation.
6. NEA
The White House is attempting to mimic Leni Riefenstahl by rounding up those in the arts and entertainment industry and using them as the vehicles through which President Obama can peddle his agenda, I wrote back in September. Big Government combed over this scandal which went completely ignored by the media. Union baby Buffy Wicks, from the Office of Public Engagement and Serve.gov, the NEA, and others joined a variety of artists and promoters on a conference call, the goal of which was to figure out how to create propaganda to support Obama’s policies.
Big Government Editor Mike Flynn expounded further on the scandal and reminded readers how Wicks used the Serve.gov portal as a way to funnel volunteers to ACORN and other pro-Obama organizations, at taxpayer expense.
Jinkies! Looks like artists are going to have to work harder and nab more photos that other people have taken so that they can do cheesy, tri-color alterations to them that pass as pretentious, overrated and quasi-Photoshop Level 1 “art” to the people whose discernment went off the rails.
7. DHS, NAPOLITANO TARGET DISSENT
While the Department of Homeland Security and Janet Napolitano were busy marking down the names of veterans, grandmas, and college kids who waved the military-authorized Gadsen Flag or questioned Obama’s policies in public as “possible domestic terrorists,” real terrorists were already in our country, shooting up our military bases and attempting to detonate planes. Michael Savage, himself the target of the British government based upon his dissent, filed suit against Napolitano in April over DHS’s “right wing extremist” report. The charges stated:
“It is a civil rights action brought under the First and Fifth Amendments to the United States Constitution, challenging the policy, practice, and custom of the United States Government that targets for disfavored treatment those individuals and groups that are considered to be ‘rightwing extremists.”
Under the Obama administration, the government has brazenly trained its eye on those who respectfully question the government. Liberals who complained over the Patriot Act demonstrated their devotion to party over liberty by going silent as their American brethren were targeting for doing no more (less, actually) than they the liberals did under Bush.
7. KEVIN JENNINGS – FISTGATE
It wouldn’t be right if our current administration broke tradition with nominating completely inept radicals to high positions of power (gotta pay off those political favors!) and lucky for you betting types, that streak wasn’t broken with Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings.
Ah yes, the Three Rs and One F of education: Readin, Ritin’ and ‘Rithmetic. Oh, and Fisting. The required credentials for such a post:
Jennings was appointed to the position largely because of his longtime record of working to end bullying and discrimination in schools. In 1990, as a teacher in Massachusetts, he founded the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), which now has over 40 chapters at schools nationwide. He has also published six books on gay rights and education, including one that describes his own experiences as a closeted gay student.
Behold, the comedy gold:
“Jennings was obviously chosen for this job because of the safe schools aspect… defining ’safe schools’ narrowly in terms of ’safe for homosexuality’,” Peter Sprigg, a senior fellow at the Family Research Council, told FOXNews.com.
“But at least half of the job involves creating drug-free schools, and we’ve not been offered any evidence about what qualifications Jennings has for promoting drug-free schools.”
Jennings’ detractors note that he made four references to his personal drug abuse in his 2007 autobiography, “Mama’s Boy, Preacher’s Son: A Memoir.” On page 103, discussing his high school years in Hawaii in the early 1980s, Jennings wrote:
“I got stoned more often and went out to the beach at Bellows, overlooking Honolulu Harbor and the lights of the city, to drink with my buddies on Friday and Saturday nights, spending hours watching the planes take off and land at the airport, which is actually quite fascinating when you are drunk and stoned.”
Er … oops? Nobody’s perfect, but it just seems practical to maybe not glorify drug use in your book while trying to get a job which requires you to keep schools and kids drug free. Too obvious?
Oh, but then came the revelations as to what GLSEN’s recommended reading actually included and Katy-bar-the-door. It was discovered that at a GLSEN conference (in conjunction with the MA Department of Education no less) elementary school kids were taught how to engage in sex acts.
Gateway Pundit reported mercilessly – as I’d hoped that anyone who cared about the well-being of our schoolchildren would do – about the “recommended reading” list Jennings chose for GLSEN and young schoolchildren which included graphic descriptions of rest-room sex and more.
State media was silent and liberal sites, such as Media Matters, defended Jennings.
8. VAN JONES
Van Jones signed his political death certificate when he signed a 9/11 truther petition stating that he believed that our own government took down the Twin Towers and not terrorists, the petition brought to light by Gateway Pundit. Of course, under an administration that refuses to even use the language because it may hurt the feelings of suicide bombers and be judged as “divisive,” one can see how Jones might not understand that the terrorists are actually our enemies.
The radical environmental czar (a one-time STORM participant, a Marxist organization) and admitted communist in the Obama administration was forced to resign, further tainting the judgement of the administration, who later admitted to not having vetted Jones well enough.
The disparity between the eerie silence from state media and the raucous exclamations from the blogosphere was expected but sad nonetheless.
9. OBAMA’S LACK OF SUCCESS
Don’t expect to see much media criticism – even if it’s objective and deserved – of our infant Messiah president. The media has a lot invested into him and they unofficially hung the last shred of their validity on his success. It’s not to say that conservatives don’t want a successful president; we define success differently than liberals. Conservatives want the United States to be successful in foreign relations, we want a thriving economy, success in maintaining individual liberty, all the good stuff of which America is made. Conservatives don’t want to see plans to nationalize and thereby socialize the private sector because the very irony of such economic strategy is that it hasn’t been successful in multitude of countries in which it’s been implemented.
Conservatives aren’t the only ones questioning Obama’s trajectory; he’s been sliding in the polls since spring; the majority of Americans disapprove of his march on health care reform; yet the media downplays all of this because they’ve gambled it all on the success of this political neophyte who quit his job as a senator so he could hightail it to Washington. (What was that the left said about quitters?)
The media’s complicity in shoring up a failing president has given an excuse for the current congressional body to repeatedly ignore the will of the people. Blogs are the new penny press; corporate media is dead.
Happy New Year!

I love reading your work. Great recap. I am going to print this off and hang on my refrigerator so I can be reminded each day in 2010 many of the 2009 accomplishments by BHO. He gets an F in my book and this just supplies the evidence to support the grade. I am not surprised from one that has proven historically just votes "Present".
My forecast for 2010 is that we get more of the same… escalation of Islamic terrorist activity in US, more hospitals/doctors refusing to take Medicare/Medicaid patients depsite Obamacare….more Socialist democrat ideology crammed down our throats until we vote them all out in November. Take back our country.
Obama has been a success! He has successfully……
1. Exposed the Liberal media for their bias, and has turned the Big three and Major Newspapers into the National Enquirer
2. Brought political correctness to it's eventual demise
3. Killed nationalized Health Care (Hillary failed to do this job, but she was close)
4. Exposed leftist Liberal socialism, and reminded the American people how badly we do not want socialism.
5. Exposed Global warming for the farce that it is
6. Revived conservatives, and conservative media….which was on virtual life support
7. Sparked a National spiritual revival (this is my prediction)
8. Exposed the Left's religious belief in Islam, Pantheism, and Humanism (all defined religions)
9. Re-ignited a sense of Nationalism, and love for the United States of America
10. Re-ignited a national love for the Armed Forces.
Every major un-reported story has one common thread…the push for Socialism/Marxism. The corrupt state controlled media in this country makes Pravda green (or red?) with envy.
I would add the debacle of malfeasance that was Cash for Clunkers.
Great list!
The truth hurts!
Once the Obama Administration can control the internet, these kinds of stories will die too.
Net Neutrality is coming, then how will we know the truth?
Instead we will be told the "TRUTH" and we will have nothing to prove them wrong.
Obama and his flying monkeys must go.
Great writing, Dana.
Obamao is amending our Constitution (transforming) via executive order. Keep your eyes on both hands. Our country is being run by a very dangerous group of animals.
Obama has quietly confided to david brooks that he is actually working on our side, why else would conservatives be advancing so quickly?
Great list! The left is in a place they never like to be, fully exposed, let the purges of 2010 begin!
Great article. But we need to stop gazing at Global Socialist media with disapointment. They are what they are and will never change (until they naturally fade away from lack of business…). WE need to change. Instead of telling a co-worker by the office cooler "did you see the way NBC tossed Obama's salad last night on the evening news?" we need to say "have you read that incredible article on BigGovernement.com exposing government/union corruption?" The media we chose is the media we have and MY "mainstream" is Breitbart, Drudge and the Wall Street Journal.
Right on.
Election day 2010 will go down as one of the most important election's in American history. I can't wait to send these Socialist Democrat's packing.
Every time the MSM selectively ignores an important story, it's another opportunity for the "New Media" to gain
more credibility and, more importantly, a larger audience. The media's monopoly is over… thank you Rush, Drudge, Fox, and most recently, Andrew! Now, let's get to work on the nation's schools and universities!
2010 time for change we can believe in.
I'm afraid we ain't seen nothin' yet.
Now we have Interpol with diplomatic immunity inside the US! Not only could US law enforcement work underneath Interpol, but I would predict that Blackwater / XE may become their enforcement arm completely outside of our Constitution and Bill of Rights!
And Climategate is all well and good, but Obama is just having the EPA call c02 a toxic waste and regulating it by fiat. And believe me, the commies in Washington want to change the free and open internet as we know it today. Taking our freedoms under left-cover.
You don't watch nbc do you?
Where can I get a copy of the Facist Dem poster? I love it! Please, please tell me where I can get this image.
Every president since George Washington recited the following oath, in accordance with Article II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution: "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." Chief Justice Roberts asked Obama: "Are you prepared to take the oath, Senator?" while holding the Bible that Abraham Lincoln used the day he became president in 1861. The question for today: What grade would you give yourself Mr. President for keeping that oath?
Excellent list! We were once a country that was truly free. Now we are bound up with regulations, taxes and bureaucratic red tape. We have a long way to go to get back to our country's roots of liberty and it should begin with the elections in 2010. As Confucius one said "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" It is now time for change that is real and lasting.
Lest not forget 'The One's EO 13524 opening the door wide for INTERPOL's to join the ranks of having 'diplomatic immunity' on our soil. Interpol? Where are those on the left in particular that went apoplectic over the mere mention of the Patriot Act and yet now we get silence?
'The One' is ushering in the One World Order and our sovereignty is being placed in the hands of unelected and unaccountable foreign officials; or should we say Czars?
Oh, it is going to get far better than this as this clown pushes harder and harder to implement a weak, impotent cesspool of socialism and new world homeland for Padro and Henrietta. Oh yes, it is going to get ever so interesting indeed in the not too distant future. Even some of my liberal friends have privately asked me "what in the hell was I thinking when I voted for this clown." My response has been "now that you have finally cleansed your soul from the guilt of a historical dogma, next time vote for the experience, leadership, and constitutional pedigree of the candidate, and not just for the color of his skin. Next time leave your desire for moral reparations outside the ballot box" to tell them, "or we will once again be singing secular Christmas songs around a white house Christmas tree that is adorned with pictures of Chairman Mao and various and assorted sexual deviates.
Great job, Dana. Not only have you hit the proverbial nail on the head, but you've knocked it clean through the 2×4
First binging, now it's time to purge.
Anorexia can sometimes be a good thing.
This is the year of the conservative. Our voices have to be so loud they cannot ignore us this time. We need to start campaigning NOW for the midterms. We need to be aggressive, brave and willing to expend huge amount of energy to stop the current nightmare occurring in our government. It is time to work, work, work!
A third party will not work in time for the midterms. We need to whip our republicans in line and make sure they represent us and win elections. They need to be on notice however, that we intend to keep an eye on them.
Excellent article.
Obama sold more fIrearms than any president to date. I figure some people see a problem ahead.
Great article!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Media stream Media is DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Their are tons of legitmate news reporters willing to report the stories and the facts, and as more and more find them the MSM losses their following. The MSM did it to themselves by deciding to become an arm for Obama instead of hold him and the current congress accountable.
Die NY TIMES….Die….the embers of truth shall burn you down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2. THE TEA PARTY MOVEMENT
I feel bad for the staffer that had to check Nancy Pelosi’s pants after over a million tea party protesters marched past her window on September 12, 2009.
Now now Dana, there you go again. It has been proven again and again that there wasn't anywhere near one
million people on 9/12/09 in DC. Maybe you know something we don't? Like the name of the phantom university that the blabbering idiot glenn beck said had the proof but he can't remember the name of? This is journalism?
The rest of your list is crap also. Do you actually wake up every morning thinking that you're a journalist taken seriously? You're a joke. Stick to twittering. Leave the real thinking to those of us that have a cognitive thought process.
Does anyone know where a copy of that poster can be obtained? I'd like to hang it on my office wall.

Take a look at this and just remember elections in Nov. 2010.
U.S. House & Senate have voted themselves $4,700 and $5,300 raises..
1. They voted to not give you a S.S. Cost of living raise in 2010 and 2011.
2. Your Medicaid premiums will go up $285.60 for the 2-years and
You will not get the 3% COLA: $660/yr. Your total 2-yr loss and cost is
-$1,600 or -$3,200 for husband and wife.
3. Over 2-yrs they each get $10,000
4. Do you feel SCREWED?
5. Will they have your cost of drugs – doctor fees – local taxes – food, etc., increase?
NO WAY . They have a raise and better benefits. Why care about you? You never did anything about it in the past. You obviously are too stupid or don't care.
6.. Do you really think that Nancy, Harry, Chris, Charlie, Barnie, et al, care about you?
Maybe it's time for the……..
Amendment 28
SEND THE MESSAGE– You're FIRED.
IN 2010 YOU WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO GET RID OF THE SITTING CONGRESS:
Up to 1/3 OF THE SENATE, AND 100% OF THE HOUSE.
MAKE SURE YOU'RE STILL MAD IN NOVEMBER 2010 AND REMIND THEIR REPLACEMENTS NOT TO SCREW UP.
It is ok to forward"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United
States that does not apply equally to the Senators or Representatives,
and Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators or
Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the
United States." this to your sphere of influence if you are finally tired of the abuse.
Thaks for the reminder
Good stuff Dana. I would add three stories.
The Debacle of Fannie and Freddie. (And who were upper management. People like Rahm Emanuel, Franklin Raines Susan Molinari, Jamie Gorelick). How that racket didn't land dozens in prison is a story I believe is not over.
Justice Prohibition Act of 2009. Failure to prosecute the Philly Black Panthers sent two very very chilling messages. One. The Black Panthers may intimidate voters without the risk of prosecution. Two. Anyone who disagrees with the Black Panthers' use of intimidation should be inclined to stand up to aggressive Black Panther antics. Won't the 2010 elections be fun?
Betrayal…stiffing our Eastern European allies and revoking Missile Defense. This juvenile, infantile and spoiled-rotten-brat approach from within this Administration to anything Bush did over the last eight years is front and center for the world to see.
The MSM can run, but they cannot hide. These stories will be part of the foundation on which 2010 will be the turning point in American politics. Each one of these have shone light on what is really going on in this country, and people are taking notice without the bogus media's help. They do not matter anymore.
I president has dug himself a deep hole in '09 culminating in the unworkable HCR bill. One begins to wonder how he and his fellow travelers in the legislative branch expect to be reelected. My prediction for 2010 is amnesty. Look for it soon since ACORN, SEIU, and the other Soros funded organizations will need plenty of time to get these grateful new citizens, now fully insured, registered to vote.
Once that happens the progressive socialist agenda will be off like a runaway train.

This article is so typical of the right wing in this country. They just spent eight years of an administration that was an abject failure and won't even give the new guy a chance before they start crying about how abused they are by the media, and the conspiracy by the left to exclude them.
Each of the "under reported stories" Dana references here fall into one of the following categories:
1. Stories that were reported on just fine, (Ft. Hood and the Tea Party movement). The right wing is frustrated because no one but Fox News wanted to make an act of terror into a partisan issue. And the teabaggers, please, give me a break. They are no more that a fringe movement who got more than the media coverage they deserved due to the massive funding from insurance and fossil fuel industries.
2. Non-news: Like climategate and Napolitano and ACORN. Climategate never went anywhere because there was no there, there. People accepted the explanation for the stolen e-mails and the public didn't buy the shrill screams from the angry right. ACORN is a lot of noise from Fox but not much to report in the way of actual voter fraud. Bush made voter fraud a justice department priority and never managed more than a handful of convictions for any fraud, and never uncovered any kind of conspiracy. The Napolitano business is just payback from the right for perceived abuses during the Bush years. All politics and didn't deserve to be covered anywhere but on cable opinion shows.
3. Fake news: Like Obama's "lack of success". Righty isn't angry because he has failed, they are angry because he has been wildly successful. His early passage of the stimulus has put us in a position for economic recovery by next year. And he is on the verge of the most sweeping health care reform in 50 years.
I should go on but time to go eat black eye peas for some of that New Years luck.
Peace out
MSM UNTOLD CRIME OF THE CENTURY….THE CODE OF SILENCE!
The United States of America has reached a stage of critical mass. The ILLEGAL President of the United States is making laws that are Constitutionally illegal. The ILLEGAL President of the United States violates ARTICLE 2 SECTION 1 because of his non-citizen father. The Senate with the aid of this ILLEGAL President is making a shameful mockery of the legislative process with it's ill obsession of making a law that is not needed in the haste of time when it ought to be sternly focused on jobs and the economy and the conflict in the Middle East. There is a CODE of SILENCE in play here in America by the Main Stream media regarding the blockage and prevention of just a simple public discussion or debate regarding this ARTICLE 2 SECTION 1 violation. This CODE of SILENCE makes all main stream national news outlets COMPLICIT in this violation which can further suggest there is collusion between the MSM and the government to keep an ILLEGAL President in the White House. This is truth! This is fact! There are three examples on historical record that define ARTICLE 2 SECTION 1 and the very important but intentionally ignored Constitutional phrase NATURAL BORN CITIZEN which Barack Obama is not and yet a person can tell by the CODE of SILENCE that this violation of the U.S. Constitution is not news worthy or like I have said, they are in collusion with Obama to cover up this AMERICA'S CRIME OF THE CENTURY! Mr. Breitbart, why aren't you and this news site reporting on this NEWS STORY of the CENTURY regarding the AMERICAN CRIME of the CENTURY? Who's pointing a gun to your head? All you have to do is report that there are American citizens in America that strongly believe that Barack Obama is an ILLEGAL President and should be stopped before he does any more internal damage to the United States of America!

I've been very hopeless lately, feeling that even if conservatives can make a comeback in the 2010 elections that our country is too far gone.
However, if we can get rid of the current democratic majorities in Congress, even if we have the most liberal/marxist/socialist/inept President in history, he will be powerless to do more than give speeches.
Harden your resolve, don't be discouraged, show up at the voting booth this year.
Any policy can be undone, even if it takes decades. With the right people in office, the worst year in US history (2009) can be undone.
Right you are…
We will never allow this kind of filth to run our country again.
Fools that they are.
[...] Loesch at Big Government also has a must-read report on The Most Underreported Stories of 2009. Like FOX News, Dana includes the ACORN pimp-ho Scandal, Van Jones and “Safe” Schools [...]
You forgot #11. Obama has single handedly done everything in his power to destroy small business, the driver of most new jobs. The lack of credit combined with the uncertainty of soon to be enormous tax rates have wrecked any chance of a real economic recovery. Only a fool or someone with good political connections would invest in creating jobs.

Great piece Dana! But in all honesty, I can't be objective. Because, I've got a stone cold crush on you! Really. You are the girl of my dreams…(cue the "dream sequence" music…. You and me whiling away a romantic afternoon at the pistol range–you giggle and smile as we double tap center mass shots on a life size silhouette target. Sometimes, you mischieviously mark my nose with the paintbrush as we make our TEA party signs together…And there are romantic walks, hand in hand, down by the university to heckle the Global Warming Protesters. Later we have dinner, where you don't embarass me by asking the waitress to leave the meat out of the Caccitore, or asking if the bread flour is organic. No, you order a rare Delmonico and look lovingly into my eyes as I dab the bloody juices from your chin…) Sorry, I'm gushing now I know. But a boy has to have his dreams, and you've turned me into a smitten schoolboy.
You are right JT, this ilk that now has their hands on our country will not go down quietly.
His next cash blow will involve paying back the Indian Tribes, Ala 2.5 billion for a Seattle Tribe already.
He is trying to convince Hawaiians to call themselves a tribe so they will qualify for a reclaimation of the Hawaiian Islands.
He is going to attempt to bankrupt our great country before he leaves office.
Actually there is no evidence that 'hackers' Russian or otherwise had anything to do with leaking the Climategate emails. Instead there is strong evidence that it was an inside whistleblower who likely leaked the documents. Note that the documents are in an archive called FOIA – ie Freedom of Information Act. Indicating that they had been gathered together internally for review. The timing is also telling and is very indicative that someone inside got fed up and dumped the data outside.

The Interpol Exeutive Order, pls see link below, aint exactly chopped liver. More and more of us are becoming aware his real agenda is to further the aims of the NWO.

Not that this adds to the discussion, but I just had to point out that there is no way that Jennings could have watched the planes land in Honolulu from Bellows, since they are on opposite sides of the island. He probably meant Barber's Point or Ewa Beach, but it just shows that he is not very good at making sure the things he says are accurate, even when they are easily verifiable.
On page 103, discussing his high school years in Hawaii in the early 1980s, Jennings wrote:
“I got stoned more often and went out to the beach at Bellows, overlooking Honolulu Harbor and the lights of the city, to drink with my buddies on Friday and Saturday nights, spending hours watching the planes take off and land at the airport, which is actually quite fascinating when you are drunk and stoned.”
There is a question that the MSM will not ask nor answer. See below, but first read what Obama said on his website:
"When Barack Obama Jr. was born on Aug. 4,1961, in Honolulu, Kenya was a British colony, still part of the United Kingdom’s dwindling empire. As a Kenyan native, Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.‘s children."
The question: How can the status at birth of a US natural born citizen be "governed" by the laws of Great Britain?
The answer is that it cannot. If your status at birth is not 100% American then you cannot be a natural born citizen of the United States of America.
Two questions.
1. As the most successful news network, shouldn't Fox News be considered mass media, too?
2. What does the Mass Media get from criticizing Bush for 8 years day in and day out, but giving Obama a pass in his first year?
The old Soviet Union's Pravda and Izvestia could take lessons from the MSM propagandists… or is this where Pravda and Izvestia is hanging out these days?
You forgot the genocide carried out by Israel in Gaza.
Hey Obama and staff, we're keeping score!!
I just discovered this website today and am fairly impressed. From the perspective of an Independent, I can say that I am deeply disturbed by the course that has been taken by not only the Democrat party, but by the mainstream press. I am furious about the Democrats' utter contempt for the American people in ramming their healthcare bill through. For the first time in my life, I am going to be sending money to the RNC and to Republican candidates in the hopes that a huge message can be sent in 2010.
Really? Have another glass, please.
If? you have a cognitive thought process you would know what it meant when Glenn Beck says he's not
a journalist.
I'm thinking maybe you are a journalist.
"They are no more that a fringe movement who got more than the media coverage they deserved due to the massive funding from insurance and fossil fuel industries. "
LOL! That is so typical of the LEFT wing. Actually the insurance and fossil fuel industries call me at least once a week wanting to know how things are going and what they can do to help me further their cause. Why, I've even received cards from them for Thanksgiving and Christmas, loaded with cash for making signs and for gas and hotel fare.
What style of tin foil hat did YOU get for Christmas?
Thank you, Jeremy. There are probably hundreds of thousands of Independents who feel the same way. You may not like either side much, but one side having all the control is a very BAD thing.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the teabaggers are out there in front of the cameras. I want Americans to see them when they start shouting and spitting and crying. And the far right candidates are always the easiest to defeat in a general election. So bag on…
Great list, Dana! (Excellent writing too.) As others have pointed out, Obama has boosted sales of guns and ammunition as well. With gun control in the Libbies' sites (pun intended) I went out and bought my 1st handgun …and I'm a Boomer!
I wanted to "get in" before Obama and his ilk locked the gates to the gun shops.
Groups like "Oath Keepers" are L.E. officers and military who pledge not to disarm the American citizens that they are sworn to protect.
Please: we ALL must do our part. 99% participation is NOT good enough! 2010 needs to be a virtual blood bath. Take back our country.
I'm looking for a good quality image of the poster, minus the fold wrinkles. Anyone?
Ironically, Obama may have unwittingly proven the fears of Josiah Strong, an obscure minister and historian who in 1885 wrote, "(as government grows) it becomes more corrupt, and control passes more easily and completely into the hands of those who themselves most need to be controlled."
Wheres all the flamers today? Oh thats right, its New Years. Football uber alles.
If approached by one of these microphone wielding zombies, the best thing to do is bash it's skull in — it's the only way to be sure that you've killed it.
You're assuming that we will have legit elections. The Black Panthers, SEIU and ACORN are still out there.
And I forgot for a moment the slobbering media lap dogs….. they'll help cover any election "irregularities"

Excellent point. We need to make it a habit of specifically citing biggovernment.com and such in conversations. We need to make these web addresses roll off off out tongues like the 3 letter broadcaster acronyms do.
Mik, you are unaware of the most important facts, allow me to enlighten you. Through the taking of ice core samples going back many thousands of years. Real scientists have been able to get an accurate history of planetary climate change. The undertaking has revealed some facts. It was considerably warmer in the medieval period than it is now, also the dreaded CO2 levels were higher during that time. Don’t lister to those XBoxers at the CRU. The reason for this is that higher CO2 levels follow higher atmospheric temperatures, this was also seen in the ice core samples. Did you know that? I didn’t think so…
Nice Job Dan!!! I've maintained these past months BHO has become a conservatives best friend. He really has succeeded in showing us what the liberal left is really all about. Thanks for pointing this out so well.
The above said, the 2010 elections will be about socialism verses capitalism. Not health care, the economy etc…

Wasn't Dana in for Savage this week?
Go, Dan and Dana – Great list – also may include:
1. Shown the predictable failure of socialist policies in the business community with a 17% real unemployment rate.
2. Shown the financial communities total rejection of socialist economic policy.
3. Shown the futility of government "bailouts."
4. Reunited the Repulican Party as a conservative party.
Good work BHO.
Awesome work, Dana!
Being an Independent also, I can appreciate you joining us!

Too late Bill. I've been here 15 years and the word is out.
I try and tell em I'm a beacon of light in a sea of west Texas darkness, but no one here buys it. The last time I used that line in at bar the lady said, "well, you're a beacon of some kind, but it ain't that that bright".
Bill, your climate change "facts" have all been debunked before… many times. If you want the info straight from the horses mouth so the speak, head out to realclimate.org. The actual science guys from Univ. of Washington spend hundreds of hours addressing questions form skeptics.
Now these are the guys doing the science, so if you show up with a bunch of right wing talking points (like your list here) they will make you make you feel pretty silly.

The one good thing about all these revelations, the misguided people who are bringing our Country to it's knees are out in the open for all to see. It is the responsibility of the rest of us to remove them from power. Vote the Bums OUT!!
It took four years or more for the country to succumb to Clinton-fatigue. It's taken this clown less than a year. Even the libs are having second thoughts.
The price we pay for falling asleep = Obama
You forgot the 3.5 million empty red envelopes that were sent to the White House last march. The envelopes were a nationwide grassroots protest about abortion. Nobody covered the story, even though the Washington Post, members of Congress, and Janet Neapolitano knew about it. Three days later, the DHS issued the document profiling veterans and prolife advocates as threats to national security.
Wow, Dan, that's exactly what I have been feeling was going to happen, I actually think that we are coming into a turnaround. Happy new year!
The Tea Party movement has awakened new interest in Ayn Rand. Is it self-centered greed or legitimate self-interest that is the main concern with those who do not understand Ayn Rand? Those who admire and criticize Ayn Rand’s beliefs about people who stand on their own feet often say she promoted selfishness, thereby greed, which is self-centered and anti-individual creativity. That is anti-Rand. Rand admired the creative individual, people like railroad builder James Jerome Hill, on whom she was reputed to have based her character Nathaniel Taggart in Atlas Shrugged. Independent “I’m OK, you’re OK” people are OK with Rand, not the criminal takers. Claysamerica.com.
If we look at Howard Roark’s summation to the jury, from Fountainhead, we do not see a self-centered individual destroying his work. If he was greedy he would have simply accepted his payment. We see an other- and outer-centered individual in love with his own dreams and creations, as one would love a spouse, child or family and refuse to allow them to be assaulted. That is the kind of self-interest that built America. Though love for anything spiritual may be missing, a great idea or vision also measures up to that which is spiritual, beyond self, and that view is not even inconsistent with Christianity. Claysamerica.com.
Thanks Bill. I will watch your video if you will read the IPCC report on climate change (4th Assessment). You can download it for free here:
http://www.ipcc.ch/pdf/assessment-report/ar4/syr/...
Ok, I finished the video and it was disturbing, but probably not for the same reasons that it disturbs you.
The way you weave a good conspiracy is to take small bits of facts which may or may not be based in reality. Then you concoct and scary scenario and point all your "facts" to that end. Add some spooky music and some people we see on TV every day and maybe, just maybe enough people will buy it that you can cloud up some political issues… like climate change.
There is a very specific kind of target audience for this kind of propaganda. It's people who are predisposed to believe the worst in others. Even though they know that they themselves would never do anything to hurt others, they are able to ascribe those motivations to people they will never know.
In my experience, conspiracy theorists are also predisposed to believe in other abstract ideas without evidence, like god or a devil. They will believe almost anything that an authority figure tells them, so long as it doesn't conflict with there world view. They are easily swindled and easily led.
If we look at conservatives and liberals, conservatives tend to think alike and act alike. Take a look around this blog and see if you can find large differences of opinion. Then go out to a liberal blog and it's like a cat fight. Libs can't agree on anything. Take a look at the congress. The Republicans have been voting all year as a 40 vote block in the senate with no dissension in the ranks. While you have conservative Dems, moderate Dems and screaming libs who can't agree what to have for lunch.
I've changed my mind about the climate change link I sent you. You don't need to read it.
It seems to me that most people underestimate Obama. He is still in office and seems to have control of every facet of government. He and his Marxist Czars control the House, Senate, Judiciary, and White House! Until they become the first "MARXIST" government to lose power, I would not be too sure of this ending as quickly as we would like to think!
YES! It's all Obama's fault. Apparently you were asleep for the last 30 years while much of what you describe was occurring as well.
Reagan = raised taxes, raised spending and the debt.
Bush 1 = raised taxes, killed millions of Iraqis and dumped tons of oil on a wildlife wilderness.
Bush 2 = cut taxes on rich people, passed medicare rx program unfunded, 2 wars where millions more people have died, ignored natural disasters in this country and abroad, if i continue i will throw up.

Dear Dana: You give me hope. My name is Neil Goldberg, and I wll take the Ca US Senate seat, away from Boxer, the World bank, and the UN.
Our campaign is gaining ground. We have gone over our filing papers with the FEC and all is in order and about to be filed. We now have our IRS bank number and will next proceed to get my name on the ballot.
WHAT IF? …every patriot who still has the overcoming Spirit of America in his and her heart were to believe enough to send even a few dollars and get in this battle to tear Boxer out of power?
Think what a stunning victory it would be, and what it would mean for Neil Goldberg to say – as his acceptance speech:
"In 2010 we have proved it can be done – in 2012, we will take it all back!"
and… "I know you're out there, wondering if you dare – you know who you are, and you know you would serve well and keep faith with the voters. – I am telling you now, as sure as I am standing here today – YOU CAN DO IT TOO! COME OUT YOU TRUE-HEART PATRIOTS – COME OUT FOR YOUR COUNTRY, AND WE WILL FIND YOU, AND HELP BRING YOU IN."
So you see, this is not just one race, in a way, if we can make this happen, and I know we can – it will have such far-reaching effects, as to change the entire, now rigged political landscape.
Only an Independent with an iron will and undying love, for his country will do at this time. …and that is me Sir.
I will never surrender our sovereignty I will never betray the trust.
Please jump into this fight with fists flying, and a shout of Freedom! – tell your friends all over the country – Boxer's going down for the count!
With God's help, and yours, Neil Brian Goldberg

Folks, you might like to do what we do here. Check in on the mainstream (leftwing) networks on a regular basis. Not to listen in, but to monitor the advertising.
From there, all you need do is NOT purchase anything they're selling, EVEN if it's also advertised on 'friendly' venues. That's key!
If the leftist media sells it, turn your back on it. I call it my "do nothing" campaign. How easy is that !
In my perfect world, someone will take this idea up to a national level.
As an aside, we also do the same with 'enlightened' entertainers. As soon as they appear on the screen, a button gets pushed, which means, no commercials associated with them are viewed.
Vote with your dollars……….no one gives a damn what wet think, but they all want our money !
True, the main emphasis of the Tea Party movement is on small government, fiscal conservativism, and the original Constitution. Which I support fully and consider myself a member. But ,many if not most of the movement are social conservatives who think any social expression not conventional middle-class simply isnt covered by small government principles, although there are also libertarians who disagree.
Seems at this point to be room for all of us,m but it really depends on which local Tea Party you look at.
Most excellent! I thank you for the concise 'silver lining' of the year.

Unreported by the MSM is this statement by BHO,"I intend to have a charge of treason against me and the ho, for each one of our SSN#s". "We're about halfway there, all in just a year's time". "Mmm, MMm. MMMm."
You didn't mention Clovegate. I'm still pissed about the FDA taking away my right to smoke my Djarum Blacks. OK, so maybe not smoke them (they TRIED, though) but I have to give my money directly to Indonesia now at the risk of Customs stepping outside their jurisdiction and not allowing me to have them anyway. Local communities and states have the right, sure, to tell me where I can and cannot smoke for the public good. My employer can dictate where I do so on the premises of my work site. I'll give them that, it's a choice to or not to smoke and if I didn't have to fill little kids' lungs with my second hand carcinogens that I, myself, choose to take into my body (you won't see me suing anyone claiming I thought they would *prevent* cancer or some nonsense), believe you me I would chose a 2nd-hand-less option. But, my nic fits are my business and how I fulfill them as a consumer has been my choice for many years now. And the FDA up and ninja's my ability to buy them at the local store under the ruse that "children might want them." Excuse me? When I was 15 I scraped together couch money for Marlboro reds, Winstons, or when I was really poor, Dorals. Brand loyalty has always been important to cigarette makers, and we all know the real reason the FDA could do this was because they were given overreaching power by a law that stretches beyond fathomable thought, passed by lawmakers who were purchased, as we all know, by the only cigarette manufacturer without a flavored product: Philip Morris, who, coincidentally, is facing a dwindling market share as fewer young people start and more long-time smokers quit or die. So, to save market share for the biggest of Big Tobacco, they tried to make me quit and smoke one of their brands. I have refused. The clove police further tried to ban the purchase of cloves online by tossing around terrorism language like a rag doll in the rider that was luckily cut from health legislation. In short, there was no publicity, no call for public comment, no notification this law was happening or the powers it would give the FDA (what, are they going to regulate how much you can eat now in the interest of public health and saving tax dollars on your fat ass?). The only way anyone knew it even took effect was if they listened to NPR that morning in September. Even shop owners were taken by surprise – had they known, they wouldn't have imported that last order. The tactics on that one are what scare me!
Crow after you scolded me for not responding to you I read your posts and was just about to give up when I came across this one. Well done my friend! You made me laugh. Thanks for that.
Mik I did read that link, and many others both pro and con on the subject. And I kept an open mind. And after awhile it became clear someone was lying. Mik, do you know how find the truth? Follow the money, the Globalists have paid for this hoax. Over time you find will everything, everything I have told you and everything in that movie is true.
I’m very sorry that it disturbed you, but you must have noticed by now something is wrong, you know you can feel. You know damn well the days of putting in a hard days work, popping a beer and watching the ‘Network News’ to find out what is happening in the world are over? True liberty is a delicate balance in a democratic republic. You could achieve perfect total liberty and lose your freedom because others exercising their perfect liberty throw the republic into anarchy. An extreme example to be sure, but I use it to make a point. We cannot look at individual liberty in a vacuum.
You sound to me like a throwback… an old school guy who would like nothing better than to turn back the clock to a time when a man or woman could make their own way and succeed or fail on their own merits. I'm not sure those times ever really existed (the good old days, that it). Our memories are selective and the past is more interesting than that instructive. We live in a country of 300 million people today and deal with problems and technologies that our founding fathers could not have imagined. Fortunately for us they didn't even try… they designed a framework for future liberty that is flexible enough to meet future problems and still maintain our basic freedoms.
The law of the land is the majority rules, within certain constitutional limits. The collective liberty to vote for our leaders and have the results of that vote accepted by all trumps all but the most basic individual constitutional guarantees. That leaves a lot of room to debate issues, but I think we need to be careful not to try and turn every piece of congressional legislation that doesn't go our way into an affront to our constitutional guarantees of liberty. It cheapens the language.
Where'd you get that cute little picture off the obama family . It looks like one of them must have stayed at a friends or mabey it was when the head monkey was out selling out the Real Americans. Oh well its an apropriate picture from the whitehouse
A couple of good points here Bill. I am concerned about the monopoly of news sources by a few corporations. I have trusted sources but I try to trust but verify.
You are indeed right that time will vindicate one of us when it comes to AGW. If it is just a hoax it will become apparent to everyone at some point, and probably sooner than later. I think it is far more likely the debate will end in one of two ways:
1) Global warming is happening all around us and is a bad as they say.
2) Global warming is occurring but not the problem for humans and bears that the science predicts.
I think there is zero chance that this is some kind of global conspiracy or a hoax.
There is plenty of money to follow on this issue. Not the least are the corporate contributions to think tanks like the George Marshall Institute. They don't get the kind of money like AGW researchers, but they don't have to spend any of it on science stuff… you know, test tubes and beakers and trips to Greenland. It all goes to pay "researchers" to read the literature and look for gaps to exploit. Exactly like what the Design Institute does for Intelligent Design. They don't go out looking for fossils to support their theories. They look for the "God of the gaps" and try and discredit the theory of evolution without putting in the hard work. And science is hard work.
I guess the reason I can't believe scientists would lie for funding is they would have to know that at some point the truth will come out. Like you said, there is too much money involved to keep a lid on it forever. And if we found out about the hoax, they would never work in a university or get any kind of government research grants for anything, ever again. They live by their reputations and it would not be in the interest of science or the interest of the scientists to get caught in this lie.
My son is a PhD candidate in a university organic chemistry program. I can tell you that he can be an arrogant little sh^t. But he is fiercely proud of his work and wouldn't falsify empirical data for any amount of money. If he were to do that, it would be like John Belushi said in Animal House, "Well there's eight years of college down the drain".
One more… the close to ten million "pink slips" delivered to Congress. The nation actually ran out of pink paper twice as a result of this grassroot effort, and it went completely unreported in the MSM, except, of course, Fox News.

I want to thank the nice folks on biggovernment.com for sharing their time and ideas with me for these past few weeks as I have thoroughly enjoyed myself. I try and conduct myself with proper respect and a sence of humor, and not get drawn into flame wars that always seem to generate a life of their own.
I know I have offended many of you with my use of the term "teabagger". It seemed harmless at first when I believed this list was filled with knuckleheads. I justified it by telling myself and others that it's ok because others do it. But I was wrong. There are many good people here who love their country and are just as passionate about their politics as I.
So to all of you I give my heartfelt apology and hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive. I want to assure you that the word will never pass my lips again, either while blogging or in my personal life. The word is dead to me.
I'm not going anywhere and I look forward to future debates. And just a note, you are going to see this post several times because I am going to post it everywhere I find someone that I know I particularly offended.
