Conservative Women Led the GOP Comeback
by David BossieConservative Republicans nationwide made a resounding comeback last Tuesday night, recapturing the majority in the U.S. House by picking up more than 60 seats – the biggest gains since 1948! In addition to the historic night in the House, Republicans added 6 seats in the U.S. Senate, 18 State House chambers switched, and there will be 11 new Republican governors starting in 2011.
President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and soon-to-be-ex Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi saw a repudiation of their irresponsible and out of touch left-wing agenda, and the comeback of a vibrant and hopeful conservative movement – with women leading the way.
A large number of Republican women ran for Congress this year – 51 to be exact – and those winning their races included Sandy Adams of Florida, Diane Black of Tennessee, Vicky Hartzler of Missouri, Jaime Herrera of Washington, Kristi Noem of South Dakota, and Martha Roby of Alabama, all of whom took over seats previously held by Democrats. They will join Fire from the Heartland cast members and incumbent Congresswomen Michele Bachmann, Cynthia Lummis, and Jean Schmidt in the House this January.
Some of the other notable GOP women who prevailed include rising stars Nikki Haley and Susana Martinez, the first female governors of South Carolina and New Mexico, respectively, and Kelly Ayotte, who trounced liberal Rep. Paul Hodes to become the junior U.S. Senator from New Hampshire.
When one traces the roots of the conservative movement, women have always served as its back bone.
The leadership of strong conservative women throughout history such as Clare Boothe Luce, Phyllis Schlafly, and Margaret Thatcher brought forth the leaders of today like Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin, which in turn yielded this year’s crop of female leaders.
2010 has truly been the Year of the Conservative Woman and Fire from the Heartland tells many of these women’s stories in their own voices. Strong women like Sonnie Johnson, Dana Loesch, Jenny Beth Martin, Michelle Moore, Deneen Borelli, and Jamie Radtke felt compelled to spring into action and become the voices of today’s conservative movement because they saw their families’ futures threatened.
We saw “Mama Grizzlies” who had never been involved with politics before take to the streets and lead Tea Party rallies. As Rep. Bachmann says in the film, “It’s not that men don’t see what’s going on, but women feel it.” It is with these thoughts and concerns that American women led the charge to take our country back.
Conservative women lit a fire from the heartland and on election night we saw that fire spread from coast to coast in the form of GOP victories.

And like all leaders we would like to salute the fallen: Sharron Angle, Christine O'Donnell, Meg Whitman, Carly Fiorina. All courageous- if flawed- candidates who proved to the world that conservative principles knew no boundaries of age, or sex. They led, they took the heat, they fell.
But their revolution will be felt for ages…
Thank you ladies. Now I wish Michele Bachmann was going to be the Speaker of the House instead of Boehner. This would guarantee us that Conservatism would be high on the priority list.
As long as they fight fiercely against those that are used to dominating, we should be able to begin the drive toward ridding America of the malignant socialism that is rapidly spreading across our Country with Unions & Dems.
Add to that cleaning out America of Illegal Aliens by finally enforcing our Federal Immigration Law! Start deporting. Give the four southern border states money to build their own border walls despite Obama's Open Global Society garbage!
Anyway obama is too busy lobbying for Foreign Countries & Corporations to bother with what's good for U.S.
Also the all important fiscal balance with the oversight of Paul Ryan and Ron Paul, including the death of earmarks, Mr. McConnell! and the end to bogus stimulus bailout type spending. Finally the elimination of the "Fat-Cat, Pork-belly Career-Politicians who are used to operating in the dark! Those days are gone. It is the era of The People!

but I'd also like to see the end to classifying by gender, age and race like Obama,Pelosi & Reid do all the time. Qualifications are the most important quality.
Pelosi, Obama and Reid constantly divided U.S. by race, gender, and age in the last two years, i.e. Obama: 'I'm talking to you young people, you women and you people of color' Well that is insulting and partisan. Take the naacp name. It identifies the group as exclusive to their race.
There also shouldn't be an all white mens club, or all female political club. If any newly elected officials patronize these ideas ther ability to judge issues based on facts not race or gender should be looked at. Focus on qualities such as Leadership, knowledge base, penchant for justice, and personality skill sets. End segregated political clubs including black panthers who only serve to divide, not unite U.S.

Since the male segment of the political theatre seems more interested in mundane things like haircuts, shined shoes, golf, etc, you, ladies, are seen as the preeminent force to roll back the trash that previous congresses have fobbed off on the American public. Some 25-30 years ago, before I understood anything about politics I went with the fury of there being for the first time 2 women senators in California (or some stupid idealic business like that) and put my check mark for Palosi and Feinstien. I regreted it ever since (not that my vote made a lick of difference, but there it is, my confession…) I have no doubt that I wouldn't be looking back 30 years from now (if I live so long…) and have any regrets voting for Palin, Bachmann, or even both…. I'm also looking at the radicals threating terrorism to our county and wonder if it wouldn't behove us to shoot for someone perceived to be stronger though- not to be sexist, I think the radical muslims and China, North Korea, and Iran etc. will put forth worst test of resolve than what George W. endured…I'd love John Bolton to run..

What is the male change of life experienced by the legislators called? We've all been suffering the effects through their wonderful laws and suggestions, so it may be good to put a name to it. You know, to even the playing field and all.

They may have lost their elections but they aren't failures because they did run for office. I don't see a whole lot of democrat women stepping up. They give lip service to inequality in office YET almost always vote for sugar daddies.
Hmm unlike democrats who also rarely have women in leadership positions. Democrats have had women in their camp for over 50 years and all women have gotten is Pelosi in a leadership position. Why isn't every democrat prez/vp pair a man and a woman with democrats.

Actually it was very respectable she quit. If she was the ceo of corporation and something she did caused grief to the employees like constant lawsuits against the company that wasted resources then any respectable ceo would step down.
The real people to blame are the people who constantly filed ethics charges. Notice they do not do this to the new republican Governor even though the same mechanism is in place. Also why the ethics charges AFTER she lost the election? What was the point other than to drive her out of office.
