ObamaCare, 9/11 and Me
by Carl P. PaladinoThe Hysteria of the political establishment and the media that covers it is incredible. I’m not a politician and I don’t talk like one .On March 23rd ,I went on the Curtis Sliwa Show on 970AM the Apple in New York City to discuss my opposition to Obamacare.

Source: CATO Institute
Here is what I actually said:
“This day, the day that that bill was passed, will be remembered just as 9/11 was remembered from history. It was an attempt by these people in Washington to defy the Constitution it is clearly in conflict with all of the basic precepts of the constitution.”
Within minutes liberals were insisting that this madman from Buffalo had compared the passage of Obamacare with the tradgedy of 9/11. Why would reporters willfully misrepresent what I said and political hatchetmen like Congressman Jerrold Nadler attack me when I made no such comparison? Why would they smear me?
Any fair-minded person could see that I merely said both days would be widely remembered like JFK’s murder or the Space Shuttle Crash or the1929 stockmarket crash. Why would the pundits and commentators twist my words and seek to make me out an insensitive rube from upstate?
The political class in Albany and New York City know the taxpayers are finally fed up and a reform revolution that returns power to the people is rising. They want to discredit me before voters get a chance to learn my common sense platform or my record of always doing what I say I’m going to do in business and civic life.
Congressman Nadler dismissed my criticism of the constitutionality of the Health Care Bill passed by Congress noting that he is the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. That does not make him the final authority on this flawed law.
I too, am an attorney. There are several critical unconstitutional provisions in this bill, including:
• For the first time ever, the federal government is forcing people to buy a good or service in the marketplace. In my view, this exceeds Congress’s power under the commerce clause and brings into play the Tenth Amendment of the US Constitution which reserves such decisions to the states and the people.
• Some versions of the bill stretch the general welfare and equal protection clauses of the US Constitution past the breaking point by exempting some states from certain provisions and giving special privileges to others; and
• By forcing the states to create “benefit exchanges,” the bill violates federalism and threatens to make states into mere administrative branches of the federal government.
In short, this bill simultaneously establishes a precedent for total elimination of both federalism and individual economic freedom.
Obamacare must be stopped – for New Yorkers especially, who pay more for insurance than most Americans. Our Medicaid program is the nation’s most expensive, and we pay exorbitant local and state taxes to support it.
I have called on new york Attorney general Andrew Cuomo to join other attorneys general in
filing suit to halt this destructive and unconstitutional legislation before it does irreparable harm to our already depressed economy.
To date I have not heard back from the Attorney General.
If I were Governor, on Monday I would ask the Attorney General to join in unison with dozens of states that will file suit against the federal government to stop Obamacare.
The fight over Health Care and the totally incompetent and dysfunctional system in Albany have energized me to get in the fight for reform and return New York to the greatness and land of opportunity it once was. I have met with over 2000 individual Tea Party Activists as well as dozens of Conservative and Republican Party Leaders.
I’m mad as hell about what is happening to New York.I have been encouraged to lead a grass roots rebellion for reform in the Empire State, to turn Albany upside down and take out the trash.
On April 5th I will announce my intentions regarding the New York Governor’s race.

Invoking 9/11 should be done with great care and sensitivity to the family's of the fallen. You were not sufficiently careful in your choice of metaphor. Since you are from the NY area, as I am, you should know that 9/11 is a hot button term and simply saying it provokes a host of negative memories and associations for those of us who were there that day.
It's interesting to me that violent rhetoric and plots against Democrats is met here with the reaction that the Dems words and actions were to blame, yet there is no similar reflection on what responsibility you have to choose your words more carefully. Whether the reaction is rational or not, invoking 9/11 provokes this kind of reaction from people, and now that you have learned this elemental truth, you should reflect on how best to move forward in the future to avoid appearing inflammatory.
Aren't we all taught from a young age that the greatest virtue of a great society and all it's people is based in principle on truth and honesty. What does that say about the United States of America today where the two controlling political parties, the republicans and the democrats, lied to the American people when they put forth Barak Obama as a candidate for the Office of President knowing that he was never eligible to ever become a presidential candidate because of his father never ever being a citizen of the United Sates. Why is it so important for the democrats and the republicans and practically all of the main stream media that the United States and it's great people should suddenly rely upon deceit and malfeasance as the new principle for which a great society and it's people is based upon? Why do they want us to go throughout our lives knowing that life in America is nothing but a lie? Deceit and malfeasance prevails in America while truth and honesty has passed away! So much for providing for our POSTERITY!
Mr. Paladino,
“This day, the day that that bill was passed, will be remembered just as 9/11 was remembered from history. It was an attempt by these people in Washington to defy the Constitution it is clearly in conflict with all of the basic precepts of the constitution.”
Very eloquent. I concurr with what you said.
" Why would reporters willfully misrepresent what I said and political hatchetmen like Congressman Jerrold Nadler attack me . . . Why would they smear me? "
"Obamacare must be stopped … before it does irreparable harm to our already depressed economy. … I have met with over 2000 individual Tea Party Activists … I’m mad as hell about what is happening "
- You just answered your own question. Welcome to WE THE PEOPLE.
With all due respect, wrapping yourself in the shroud of a 9/11 survior, and posting here as a generic poster, for the very first time, at the top of this thread, makes me question you. I seriously doubt your authenticity and bona-fides. Frankly, what you wrote, is the text of a shill.
I knew people at Cantor Fitzgerald who died on 9/11, and for you to come here, and use that ploy, is offensive.
The whole nation will be watching NY for the near future, because how NY goes so goes the rest of the nation. If ya'll can get your sh^t together and pull yourselves out of the frying pan then I will have some hope for the rest of the country. Unfortunately, I think you will keep driving toward the cliff at full speed. The crash will be spectacular in a grisley sense. Maybe grisley enough to wake up the rest of the country!
Why would they smear you? You're kidding right. I get it – it's an April Fool's joke. Or you have just landed from 1975. You were being deliberately provocative – not that I don't think every person doesn't have the expressed right to say whatever they want – but you, I think, were hoping for a little controversy. You got it. So stop whining. Running for governor? It figures – another loud-mouthed wanna-be. I hate this bill but I have a special type of loathing for those who promote themselves and their agendas on the backs of national tragedies. Carl Paladino – clean it up, show some respect, choose your analogies and metaphors more carefully.
Thanks, Cowboy. I concur and couldn't have said it better.
Some of those people have no honor, and definetely no sense of shame.
I hope you run for Governor and I pray you WIN by a landslide! Best of luck to you sir. I will gladly donate.
I fully agree with all three of your unconstitutional provisions listed above! We must FIGHT this attack to our Constitution and our way of life with everything we have. If we loose, we loose everything.
– Cuts Medicare by $523 billion.
– Dramatically raises taxes on small businesses.
– Creates a new marriage penalty with new income and
investment taxes.
– Increases the size, scope and authority of the IRS to
mandate the purchase of government insurance.
– Will cause 9 million citizens to lose their current
insurance.
"On April 5th I will announce my intentions regarding the New York Governor’s race."
Well Mr. Paladino, while I am certainly no fan of attorney's, our country is the way it is because of attorney's with no logic, common sense, honor or integrity. What you wrote here, displays some of those qualities, and furthermore it might take some good legal minds to unravel this mess. The points you cite in your article are valid, and worth exploring from the Constitutional aspects.
I would encourage you to run for office. I would send money.
Couldn't have said it better. Thanks.
Please everyone. This is a perfect example right here of how we let these Obamaczars control our time and energy. Please don't feed the trolls. As you can see they just want to distract and to marginalize anyone who is against big government and wasteful spending. Let us remember to stay on the issues and discuss amongst ourselves what we know is right versus wrong. We stand on the side of truth. Therefore, it is utterly a complete waste of time to respond to someone who stands on the side of government socialism and tyranny.
So, let's just ignore the socialist trolls. Once they figure out no one is giving them the time of day they will stop
making idiots out of themselves.
" Why would reporters willfully misrepresent what I said and political hatchetmen like Congressman Jerrold Nadler attack me . . . Why would they smear me? "
Because they pay homage to the union which paid to elect Obama. Nadler does not believe in representing his electorate, rather he is on the Socialist Bandwagon and likes to lord over the common folk who pay taxes and dispense our earned dollars to buy votes in the Ghetto's maintained by the Plantation Politics base he so soundly courts.
The only viable option is to ignore the bias in MSM as they are irrelevant and will self destruct economically and VOTE OUT the SOCIALISTS.
Not some, ALL lefties have no honor.
You are wrong, and it was wrong for the admins to delete my post. I live in the city, was in the city on that day, and lived through the aftermath as the city struggled to return to normalcy. I might similarly question your bona fides, since you are similarly cloaked in internet anonymity.
Ah, so we have a 9/11 denier! All claims from those who claim to be victims of any tragedy must be believed or your opposition is based on "hate" and you can be dismissed!
I heard the 9/11 comparison used for this Obamanation, and I thought it was pretty precient…….even comparing it to Dec. 7 or something like that, also………..but the big difference is that, with this blatent ramrodding of a government edict (maybe Boy Barry would call it a 'fatwa'!!) down the throats of the responsible American public, complete with the threatened and bought off politicians holding our arms, the unions beating our kneecaps, the favored insiders ripping up the Constitution and spitting on it, the shadow puppetmasters smirking at the whole charade, and Boy Barry himself, with his hatchet men, shoving the 2000 plus pages of unread, un-understandable, 'unsustainable' (BIG lib word!!!), unfundable, and un-Constitutional crap into our mouths…….
we have actually witness the biggest act of treason in the history of this country!!!! FUBO!!!!!
Nice ploy asking Cuomo to sue against this bill. I guess it might throw a little light on his party interests, even though everyone over the age of 10 already knows his party interests. Maybe it gives you precedence in challenging him, which may be more meaningful.
Let me clear something up before it causes any misunderstanding. In reference to the post above, it is not directed towards Mr. Paladino or towards his article. He has my full support and wish him the very best. We need more Americans to stand up for what is right and just, and to stand up against the direction this country is taking towards socialism. It is un-American and against the Constitution.
Otherwise, as I said above, please let us ignore the trolls and lets keep our focus on the job ahead come November. It is time to vote the traitors out of office.
Well, bf, lets address your points. The AMA, you know the largest association of doctors, endorsed the bill with the medicare cuts because they realize they will be writing off fewer accounts because more persons will have insurance. You see, they understand there is no such thing as a free lunch. It only raises taxes on businesses with 50 or more employees who do not offer a health plan. Once again, the free lunch is ending. It does nothing to current insurance policies unless these policies do not meet the minimum requirements.I will get back to you on the rest.
I have to say I question why your first post was deleted by the administrator, I do not recall that there was anything "offcolor" in it, regardless of whether your statement was factual or not.
I would also add that being in NY on 9/11 does not automatically make ones comments make important or pertinent than others – I was in America, my Country was attacked.
Did Congressman Nadler really say he's the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee? Not according to this:
http://judiciary.house.gov/about/members.html
All I can suggest for you is, put down the cool-aid, It has infected your brain. It apparently has affected your brain so you cannot process, reality from fiction.
“This day, the day that that bill was passed, will be remembered just as 9/11 was remembered from history. It was an attempt by these people in Washington to defy the Constitution it is clearly in conflict with all of the basic precepts of the constitution.”
The second sentence sums it all up!
No he didn't deny 9/11 happend dumbass, he's questioning this persons post and his credibility, try to pay attention, we know it is very hard to do when your head is shoved up obamas ass.
Trust me, we all know 9/11 happend and we all know it was slick willy clintons fault. All clintons fault.
True Believers drink nothing but Kool-Aid.
Again I will state that you are wrong, and the admins are wrong to delete my posts on this point.
You have constitutional means of regress. Use them or shut up about it. Your whining demonstrates a lack of patriotism.
Not only does Obamacare defy the Constitution by making citizens buy a goods and service which is unlawful, it requires states to pick up Medicaid to the extent of state bankruptcy. With New York state being in the dire straits that's it's in you would think Patterson and Cuomo would be standing up to this bill and say no to Obamabankruptcy.
Obama is going to use his $4Billion education package of targeted grants to bribe states to back off suing over Obamacare. If the state wants any of the education pie they need to stop their suits. Watch it happen.
Ha ha ha ha.
What a little cretin you are. You're talking about the same "AMA" that includes only 20% of the nation's physicians as members? (Only 15% of actual "practicing physicians") The same "AMA" that in July 2008 focused its energy on blocking cuts to Medicare? The same "AMA" that helped push through the "Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008?"
THAT AMA? The same one that has always pushed for limiting the number of practicing physicians in order to keep medical care costs artificially high? That same AMA?
And if the "only" tax increase goes to businesses with 50 or more employees who don't offer a health plan (A BIG FAT STUPID BLATANT LIE) by the way, then it's pretty simple to avoid the "only" tax. Got 75 employees? Fire 26 of them. Just a simple downsize, and voila, NO NEW TAXES.
And it doesn't do A THING to to current insurance policies. OH, except for taking over control over the content of EVERY SINGLE INSURANCE POLICY in existence, or that will ever come into existence, forever.
Other than that, it really doesn't do anything to affect your current insurance policy.
A liar lies. It takes a fool to believe him. Only FoolsLoveBo.
i live in upstate NY. just to let you know, we have very little chance of changing ANYTHING in this state. as New York City goes, so goes the state. the City is a drain on the rest of the state, and all the liberals there decide everything. too many of them, and too few of us. i'm all for giving NYC to New Jersey (or any other state that wants it) or making them a state of their own. build a big damn wall around it and forget it ever existed.
I agree with you a good bit LostFan. But IMHO Obama may be able to buy the votes of certain demographics but as evidenced by the Cornhusker Kickback he can not buy a state. Our vote is valued by too many to be bought off with a return on our collective tax dollars. This is why we wll prevail at the ballot box in our November to Remember!
If this bill will cause states to go into BK… and I'm sure most of this administration knows it… "Why" are they doing it?
If you look into this assumption with just common sense, and along with all of the other things they are trying to do… Doesn't it fit right in with GBecks analogy of collapsing the system into something different?
What exactly are they trying to do? Redistribution of wealth through Obamacare, Federalizing the student loan system, Cap-n-Tax, Mandatory Public service, FDA regulations, EPA regulations, IRS demanding health insurance, Amnesty for "Illegal" immigrants, Federal BIO-ID cards, changing school books, ALL unionized labor…
Does any of this make sense? It needs to be stopped before our FREE society is no longer FREE.
I found it most interesting that that monumental bug-wit, Henry Waxman, stated a few weeks ago that "Texas will probably have to lay out an addition $1 billion in order to implement Obamacare." This morning, it was announced that Texas' own comptroller's office announced that Obamacare will cost the State of Texas an additional $27 BILLION to implement! Waxman wasn't TOO far off, huh?
I have started to collect empty wallets to box up and send to President Obama….. It's all we have left….. There is NO MORE! I know they can just more numbers around at will, and can print as much cash as they desire and charge it to the American Taxpayer…. BUT I mean it…. WE ARE OUT…. WE HAVE NO MORE…. April 15th will be interesting!
HuskersLoveBo
Contrary to your misconception, the AMA does not represent the majority of Doctors. Yes it is American Medical Association but just like the American Chemical Association does not represent all Chemists. It is only an association and has no real power or speaking platform. Do you think the PTA runs the local school?
Only raises taxes on businesses with 50 or more employees who do not offer a health plan! Huh?
Do you live in a hole or just watch talking empty heads on TV?
Unlike most people's insurance which renews in January, mine renews in July…so I have already received the good news. 30% increase in premiums for next years coverage (no increase in coverage).
Why you may ask,… just thank the pres. and congress deciding young people are still 'kids' and must be covered by the parents insurance until they are 26…. that is just one part, the Insurance companies 'Must' cover children with pre-existing conditions. downs syndrome, spina bifida, etc.(very expensive)
Insurance is a risk industry, if you take on more risk they you can afford they you will go out of business!
But hey that is the plan.
J.nadler is a swine and a glutton, he's on the payroll of many including acorn or whatever it's called now.
The left just loves to pound ANYONE that OPPOSITE there opinions or views…. and to think that the MSM did not pick this up….. just more elitist telling us what we SHOULD KNOW… just remember being that we are against OBALBLAS tatics we are racists…."ROLLS EYES"
Only 15% of doctors belong to the AMA and not all AMA members were for this bill. Just sayin'.
This monstrosity cuts $523 billion from Medicare in the first 10 years and then cuts $1 TRILLION from Medicare in the second 10 years while adding 30-50 million people to the rolls. But Libs/Progressives can't add. Neither can Obamao.
Of course, all the Medicare cuts will basically decimate Medicare thereby causing severe rationing, especially for seniors, but at least they'll all have insurance even if they will still be denied treatment.
I hope the NY Republican Party is investigating Cuomo's tenure at HUD.
Sounds like the old Soviet Union. In fact, the healthcare bill was allegedly ripped off the old Soviet Union system of the 1980's.
What TX should do is delve into Waxman's background looking for any skeletons they can exploit. Chances are they'll find gold.
I did not get to read his posts, but to me the only time you could call yourself a survivor of that tragic day is to have been in either WTC 1 or 2 during the attack or after, or in the Pentagon during the attack. Just being in New York has nothing to do with it. It like me saying i survived a house fire, just because one burned down in the town i live in.
Was listening to Rush this morning. Either he or someone he knew had spoken with a lobbyist for a corporation that has to declare a major financial loss this quarter as a result of Obamacare. The lobbyist had been speaking with his CEO who along with other CEO's had had lunch with Obamao prior to the bill passing. They explained to Obie what the loss to their respective industries would be as a result of this bill. Obamao had no idea what they were talking about and had to have it all explained to him. The CEO said that he was embarrassed for Obamao as it was obvious that Obie didn't even know what was in the bill. That after the CEO explained to him what would happen, Obie accused him of lying.
We are right and they are wrong — that's why they lie and obfuscate with name calling. It's all they got. I'm ready for this fight.
So much for providing for our POSTERITY!
another day of imfamy…..we have to hold these reprehensible scumsuckin'politicians feet to the fire and FORCE them to follow the constitution…..even if it is broken…..
SUNSHINE…..part of the solution is DRIP….
DON'T RETURN (RE-ELECT) INCUMBENT POLITICIANS…..
if he/she is there now they are part of the problem……out damn spot!!!!!!
where did the tar a feathers go????? it seems as though we need a BIG bucket and a bigass pillow…..
Of course NYC pays more in taxes to the state than it receives back.
I agree that NYC should be its own state, independent of the upstate leeches who treat us as a cash cow to be milked to pay for paving every backwoods cowpath that can be found north of Westchester, then abandoning NYC to NJ in the Port Authority, refusing to support the subway system while throwing money at MetroNorth and the LIRR, and letting people earn money in the city without paying taxes to support the city infrastructure that makes their jobs possible.
We will then work on clearing out the Working Families Party and other leftist undesirables on our own, without having to carry all you upstaters who are even afraid to compete in the same school sports league as NYC kids.
On the national level I'm for the same thing with Cali. Trade it to the Chinese for our debt to them and call it even. Good riddance!
You sound like a simpy lib to me…………and go get a more original name while you're at it………..and write something coherent………..FUBO!!!
Huskers.. You are the Blind leading the Blind…Read between the lines…
Jacey—It's like having a brand new Cadillac…..with NO ENGINE…Thanks for the Laugh.
Coumo ( & Dad) is a DEMOCRAT FIRST and an AMERICAN LAST !!!!!!
Obama is a well educated speaker but does not know the meaning of "Honesty, Honor and Integrity".
Why do New Yorkers Love people like these ?? Hillary, Schumer ,Slaughter, Adler, Spitzer, DEMOCRATS..??????????The worst of the worst….Must be representive of New York Voters.
As opposed to who?
Al "I'll make you an offer you won't want to refuse D'Amato?
Rudy "What do you mean I can't move my mistress into the Mayor's mansion with my wife and kids?" Giuliani?
Fine, upstanding Republicans that they are don't you know.
Maybe if some party offered decent candidates we wouldn't have to suffer those fools.
And of the three you listed that I could vote for, I voted for none.
Okay, fine. I did vote for Hilary in the Presidential primary. But I consider that perfectly understandable given the other option.
Mikeyh0, you obviously know nothing about Carl Paladino. He's not a fake or phony like the rest of the politicians. In fact, he's not a politician at all. I was shocked that he was taken out of context in that interview (not)! I'm absolutely disgusted by the MSM. Carl Paladino is a regular guy and I REALLY hope he becomes Governor of New York State!
Oh boy!
The story about Nadler's comments isn't so much about Paladino and his future run for governor.
Surprise – it's more about Nadler and his re-election ability. Once sane people look at this issue and realize who's telling the truth and who's slinging the mud, they are likely to leave Nadler on the side of the road as they vote in a new representative.
How's 11/2/10 as another date that will be as memorable as those other dates?
Hi Carl,
You hit the nail on the head…"They want to discredit me before voters get a chance to learn my common sense platform or my record of always doing what I say I’m going to do in business and civic life." So don't let them. Don't play the game by THEIR rules….play it by YOUR rules.
Good Luck Carl,
You've got my vote.
Hi El. I'm ready too. We are not going gently into that good nite….(or not so good as the case may be).
I heard about that too. The anointed one may be anointed, but he is STILL the one with the least experience in the room, no matter who walks in.
Don't waste the postage….he doesn't care about the empty wallets….except that he's Counting on them. It's part of the big plan….make everyone indebted to the feds…feds get the power….
It does fit. The bill (now the law?) takes the power away from the states and gives it the Feds. They've messed with commerce between the states, which is a HUGE no no in the constitution. But if they set a precedence here…well, you know how unions LOVE it when a precedence is set…. (at least all of the one's I've known about).
The unions have been supporting this fraud since his apparent anointment (mainstream media mostly). They have already been repaid (in part), with the GM/Chrysler stock, and soon (I hope NOT), card – check. PLEASE. This guy is not interested in defending ANY part of our Constitution (even though he took an oath to do so). He has his sights set on something much larger.
Philly Mike, So many have lost the fact that their positions are regarded as "Honorable"…yet, no honor in sight. I agree.
“This day, the day that that bill was passed, will be remembered just as 9/11 was remembered from history.
Sorry, how is this not a comparison to 9/11? This is fear mongering 101. What Carl is doing is invoking the tragic memories we have over the events of 9/11 and bringing them to the forefront in the public's mind and saying to us, remember how terrible an event 9/11 was????-well get this: the passing of this health care bill will be remembered the exact same way. It is another epic American tragedy.
Carl, I like your style, but I WILL NEVER GET DOWN with invoking the memories of 9/11 for political gain.
Passing Health Care, no matter how big a failure it turns out to be, cannot be equated to 9/11. In any context.
Are you really going birther on us? Carl, I'd be careful with the people you associate yourself with. For example this guy, who believes Obama is ineligible to be president. Honestly NUTN2SAY, if there were any merit to this, don't you think Hilary and John would have come forth with evidence. You are a moron.
Connelly, hes not fear mongering. Hes making a comparison. I think we all need to stop being so damn sensitive. You cant clean up the trash without getting a little dirty.
Were all so concerned with what Carl says, how about the opposition candidate who uses his unchecked political power to advance his career interests. Andrew Cuomo is a scumbag and any candidate willing to run against him deserves our vote! I highly doubt Spitzer was the only person renting ladies, he just happened to be the one in the way of Cuomo who had to be taken down. Everyone please open your eyes
Who are you talking too? Who's Carl? What's with the childish and rude behavior?
Hope to see ALL you folks at the Tea Party Express rally next Monday April 12th, Buffalo & Erie Co. Naval & Military Park!
