by Christopher C. HornerSo about two weeks ago Sen. John Kerry, a lead author of the looming Kerry-Graham-Lieberman global warming/cap-and-trade legislation said about his bill, to disassociate from Earth Day loopiness: This is not an environment bill.
No kidding. No one on the planet claims it would change the climate in any way our most sophisticated instrumentation could discern. It’s about power. Hence the title of books like “Power Grab“.
Today we read in E&E Daily, from another co-sponsor Sen. Lindsey Graham: “It’s not a global warming bill to me. Because global warming as a reason to pass legislation doesn’t exist anymore. ”
Oddly, both remarkable statements have been ignored by the establishment press, slavish as they are to also seeing this agenda through to the end because, as Sen. Tim Wirth said in 1988 and Barack Obama in his 2010 State of the Union address, even if you don’t buy the excuse, their agenda is still “the right thing to do.”
As I have been saying for some time and just published a book making the case: the issue is not the issue. The global warming then climate change then, uh, it’s jobs, that’s it, jobs, or maybe national security or…I dunno, what appeals to you? … agenda for promoting the energy-scarcity list of mandates, wealth transfers and lifestyle restrictions were just excuses for doing what these people have long insisted they, as your betters, be able to do to you.
Get this reality now, or wake up one day and wonder why you didn’t before it was too late.

People believe in global warming because of hubris. If man can unintentionally cause the Earth's climate to change, imagine what kind of utopias he could create if only power were given to enlightened among us.
Now that Slow Joe Biden is vice president, John Kerry has the undisputed lowest IQ in the senate. Who are the people he's, "better" than? Nobody I call friend, that's for sure.

The only "environmentalism" I give any credence nowadays comes from outdoorsmen – largely hunters and fishermen. At least they allow for use of natural resources rather than viewing them as an end in themselves.

Things are all the more worrisome when the progressives openly admit that their premises don't matter and are still cocky in their certainty that they will have their way. I take some comfort in the proverb that pride goeth before a fall.

If we don't change our overuse of energy habits?
1. The price of energy keeps rising.
2. The cost of food and basic necessities keeps rising because of the price of energy and energy related products.
3. The earth's atmosphere gets more polluted.
4. Global warming raises sea levels and sea temperature, causing climate changes and rendering unhabitable large areas of low lying land.
5. Environmental damage from energy production changes the balance of nature, with unpredictable consequences.
Eventually a balance will be established. Price increase will make energy and basic necessities unavailable to all but the wealthy. Pollution, climate change, flooding, and starvation will limit population growth, and mother nature will rebalance herself to an environment with far fewer plant and animal species.
Whether this is good or bad news, depends upon your ethical viewpoint and your position in society. If you happen to live in an affluent nation, and have reasonable credit, you will be able to afford higher energy prices and your lifestyle and habits needn't be overly affected.
On the other hand, if you live in a third world country and you don't happen to be exceptionally rich or powerful, you and your children are dead.
The only alternative scenario for the majority of the world's population in this unfortunate situation is to rebel and fight the rich and powerful, whether they be their own leaders or other nations. At least they then have a chance of being one of the lucky survivors.
Perhaps that's why the worlds rich nations need such large defence budgets, and such imaginative propaganda machines to describe the world's underpriviliged?

What's going on with Greece, the EU and the IMF should be a sharp lesson to anyone considering any kind of global system. When one part falls, it drags down (or threatens to drag down) the rest. The idea behind this country was originally a number of sovereign states heald together on a level playing field and protected by a loose federal governance structure. That way, if one state fails, it limits the amount of suffering among the citizens. They can suffer through or move out to the state next door, and that one failing entity can't pull the others down similarly ruining their residents.
Global systems create global failures. If Greece were a separate entity, it wouldn't be dragging down the rest of the EU like it is now. Global climate governance will only fail and set us up for global suffering.

The house passed cap and tax last summer. The senate has not taken it up and most likely won't this year absent fallout from the gulf oil spill or other unforeseen occurrences. Despite Lindsey Grahamnesty's boneheaded support for this bill, the odds are pretty good it will go nowhere in this Congress. It is not however prudent to be overconfident since this lame duck congress just may attempt to go down in flames of their own misguided glory.

The treachery and deceit, the shifting rationales, the crony capitalism are all things that must be given widespread dissemination if we are going to stop these crooks and liars.
