ClimateGate: Don’t Know Much About History. Or Climate.

“For most of the 200 years since the Industrial Revolution, people were blissfully ignorant of the fact that emissions caused a greenhouse effect. It’s a relatively recent phenomenon.”

That was the Obama administration’s “special envoy for climate change”, Todd Stern. Now, the Industrial Revolution is generally accepted as having begun in or about 1850. And of course Svante Arrhenius famously posited the greenhouse effect hypothesis in 1896 (and as a very beneficial thing, incidentally). So, it’s fair to say that this claim is somewhat off.
But the greenhouse effect is not the same as the modern Left’s claim that economic liberties must be ceded to the state, and economic activity held in check, to avoid Man’s marginal greenhouse gas contribution creating dangerous climate change. That is the recent phenomena, following on the heels of the ill-fated manufactured panic over Man-made global cooling which served as the previous excuse for this agenda. But the ignorance is fairly revealing: it’s not about the climate or the science to these people.
Regardless, the reporter did not correct the administration’s misunderstanding of the science and his editor either did not know or care about the rather detached assertion. It fit the script. But you may be surprised to learn that the paper has not always been so forgiving of misunderstandings of the matter by political officials.
Still, always remember the mantra: it was Bush and his team who were dumb. These guys are really, really smart. Really.

How can rally really smart people keep doing such dumb dumb things?

This is all about destoying American economy, and make you subject to world government, well stated by Lord Monckton. The anti Americanism the last 40 years, originated by the left here in Europe – is shameful. Fair minded Europeans truly know how much Americans have scarified for us, and how much your entrepreneurial spirit, and vibrant culture have enriched us.
I ate in a Sushi restaurant in Oslo. At the next table sat a man appox. 15 years senior to me (born in 1946). He was out with his granddaughter and her husband – I figured. The husband came with the usual parroted one sided refrains about America. I also knew that he was not one of the hard core activists or liars. Most probably he heard it all from his university professors or been force fed by the mainstream media, riddled with hard core leftists. The grandfather begged to differ, and he quoted all the things we should have been grateful for, when it comes to America. I was able attract his attention, and gave him an approving nod. Indeed – he became bolder.
Do Americans have difficult issues? – SURE, you might broadcast them all over the world, and “we help you.” Here they push it all under the rug, then ask America to clean it up. You came twice to Balkan recently, Europe was helpless. Blair (once an unsavory leftist) went to Washington – as Churchill, and begged America to get involved. The left and the press were on the band wagon: A new Vietnam!!! So you know what kind of dishonest creep this is. In the despotic regimes our leftist [and yours] loves, their citizen would do anything to win the Green Card Lottery to go to America. Does Cuba or Muslims countries issues lottery tickets? Muslims won’t go there, it easier to be Muslim in America. As in Europe, they leave their “culture,” and demand to bring it, and ask us to adjust to it or ELSE. We have already lost free speech. I refer to the great American: Bruce Bawer. He lives in my country.
Therefore I feel it as a duty, to support fellow conservative-, libertarian- and Christian/ Jewish Americans. You should unite, for the ideas of the European left are getting a foothold on your continent. I am all the above. Ayn Rand was an atheist, but it neither rocked my faith nor my conservatism. That’s what makes her such an amazing thinker. She professed true Liberty and Freedom. Then there are conservative values worth observing, for they have been tested, and finally our Judea-Christian values/ faiths are precious as long as they are not forced on those, who beg to differ. Any faith that teaches LOVE should be welcome, but no hate, violence and terror – thank you very much. Don't know much about science books … oh well, it doesn't matter; we won. I think I'll appoint a few more czars to watch over the rabble.
Lord, I wish these people would take a real climate or atmospheric science class (ecology does not count)… the Green house effect has existed LONG before we had polluntants in the air (in fact Cirrus clouds are a part of the Green house effect)… We have far less concentrations of CO2 in our atmosphere than we have had in prior era's, CO2 is a natural component of our atmosphere… However, I do agree that we need to reduce our pollutants (it's a responsibility thing) but CO2 should not be our only or main concern… Ozone is a much more harmful gas at this point.

In the 70's environmentalist warned of a upcoming global cooling, mini-ice age. Aerosols and CFCs were eating a hole in the atmosphere so we jumped through hoops to change all our spray products and coolants. Now carbon dioxide is the evil gas in the atmoshphere. What they don't say is that WATER VAPOR is the predominant green house gas, vastly greater quantity than the ~3% concentration of CO2.
Methane does more damage than CO2. Are the global warming goons going to try to force us all to install methane filter up our butts? Never mind all the animals in the world that emit their own gaseous fumes.
So the average temperature has risen a half a degree. Why are the glaciers in the world EXPANDING? They seem to ignore that little tidbit! The latest news is that they need $50 BILLION to do another study to see if any of this is true. How about that, they need more money! It seems like money is the basis for all this crap. If you scare people into thinking the world is going to end, and its all our faults, people will fall all over themselves to pay our way out of……nothing.
By the way, I have some prime beachfront property in Nevada to sell, when California is swamped by the rising seas from the polar ice caps melt.

The premier advocates of responsible climate-human interaction and the high level scientists who have proven the ill effects of our actions are meeting in Copenhagen right now. They are meeting to educate the world and to develop a course of action to address the now debunked notion that their is NO climate change.
I have heard nothing about taking your money from you and giving it to someone else. All I have heard are the concrete, irrefutable scientific proofs that have debunked those who contend the climate does not change.

Who has proven it is "BAD"? I know there are some models that project it is "BAD" but we have recently learned that these models were rigged with fraudulent data. Additionally, we have also discovered the "hockey stick" graph was also a result of fraudulent data. Thus, I am waiting for this proof. Oh yea, the Earth also has been cooling for the past ten years, something the rigged models never predicted. ____Also, what Bush policies are you referring to? We all know that the U.S. Senate voted not to consider the Kyoto Protocol in 1998 by a vote of 95-0. What degradation occurred during those eight years? As I noted above, we all know that the Earth actually cooled during the years of the Bush Administration. Did it cool too much, is that what the degradation was? Is that why they changed the "crisis" formerly known as "global warming" to "global climate change"?

CO2 is not a pollutant. It is NOT associated with any known change in climate except in the imaginations of failed computer climate models. No data set with integrity has suggested correctly that CO2 causes GW. If so, the last decade, with stable or decreasing temps (depending on who strokes the data) in the face of steadily (catastrophically!) rising CO2 levels should seriously begin the process of throwing this hypothesis into the dustbin of failed hypotheses. CO2 is more like an essential amino acid. We can not live without it. It is an ever-present part of our atmosphere. The carbons in CO2 are what plants use to keep the planet alive.
A thought just came to me (caution): is there a way to adopt a molecule as an aggrieved entity? Dem/Libs have animals, the 'planet,' and a host of other nonhuman constituents that can't be asked if they want the Dem/Libs to speak for them. We could adopt CO2! Good for plants! Good for people! My own opinion is something bigger is going on here.
These politicians are not dumb. You don't climb to the top of the political gut pile by being stupid. They have to know this is going to throw them out, and they don't seem to care in the least. Why?
Here's what I'm thinking. Obama got elected by basically not being Bush. And America has a long and illustrious history of bouncing parties out of power after a while, so its not all that surprising the GOP got pushed out of power. If the dems keep both houses of Congress in 2010, then Obama can't run on republican interference in 2012. He's got nothing but his own record, and we can see who that's working out now.
What if they ram all this stuff through now, get voted out of office, the GOP takes one or both houses of Congress. With Obama in the White House, a GOP congress won't be able to get any of it over turned. Obama then runs in 2012 against a republican congress, and hopefully with enough coat tails to bring the dems back in control.
Then they have everything they want.

So instead we should base the collection and distribution of trillions of dollars world wide based on "science" that has just been proven to be false?
A scientific experiment is basically a four part process. Hypothesis, process, data collection, analysis and conclusion. You state 'this is what I think and why." Process is the actual experiment. Data collection is just that, collecting the data. And analysis and conclusion is just that, what the data collected says, and whether you think you were right or wrong.
Hypothesis and conclusion are not science, they are subjective. Process and data collection are objective, that's your real science. A repeatable process that provides consistent results.
Other scientists can take process and data from another study, so as not to reinvent the wheel. In other words "based upon the findings" of such-and-such "studies."
What these so called scientists have done is hide process and data collection, and passed off hypothesis and conclusion, and said that was good enough, the science is settled, no one needs to see process and data, because every one agrees conclusion is science.
And now the emails prove just why they don't want anyone to see process and data collection. They've gone so far as to destroy it to make sure no one can see it. In the emails, they state specifically that's what they would do if necessary.
That means every study on climate change that was based upon the process and data collection by the CRU are no longer valid. There is no scientific basis for their conclusions.
If you really believe in science and its objectivity, then you should be pissed off to high hell over this. I'm an engineer, and I'm eye ball popping out of skull mad at what they've done to science, which I've based 25 years of my life on. They've made a mockery of it.
So I ask you Mr. Tallow – do you believe in objective science, or emotions? Because this is not science.

I think if you read through the constitution you will not see any mention of bailouts, taking over car companies, stimulus packages, prisoners of war being granted constitutional rights, or the vast majority of anything else going on in the halls of power.
Granted, I was not striving to be as pithy as I was, but I do feel passionate about this subject, as its my own constitutionally guaranteed freedoms that are being abridged, so I do take this personally.
If you're up for a civil debate on the subject, so am I. When of the things I dearly missed when I counted myself one of the left was a logical, reasonable debate on issues. When I was on the left I was simply ordered to hate the right, and avoid all rational debate with them. Whn I refused, I was ejected, with the typical hateful insults.
Some reporters scoured the Library of Congress for historical press reports on climate change and global warming/cooling. And what they found was most interesting. I wish I still had the link to share, but some effort on goggle should be able to find it.
Going back to the 1880's, every 25 years or so, it flips between global warming and global cooling. Once the movement has lost all credibility with one generation, they flip their story and start working on the next generation.
Look for global cooling scare in the next 10 – 15 years.

This all has little to do with climate. The left has a consistent philosophy on all issues. They want to diminish human activity. Ambition, success and progress are bad. Limits and control are good. Climate politics is a perfect tool for them. If human activity is causing the destruction of the environment, then it must be stopped. As for science, please, unbiased science isn't practiced anymore. For every data point that says there is global warming, there is at least one more that says there isn't.
These progressives have really been effective at selling the "We're smart, You're dumb" agenda. The only problem is the American people have at their core a knowing, a huge dose of common sense, and Americans are beginning to smell chloroform in the global warming emissions!

Article 1 Section 8 is the scope of legislative authority granted to Congress by the constitution, and no where on that list does it say anything about providing finance to any industry. Article 1 Section 9 is the limits of legislative authority, which I can sum up for you as anything that's not specifically listed in Article 1 Section 8.
And if that wasn't clear enough to future office holders, Amendments IX and X spell it out even clearer.
The federal government created by the Constitution was never meant to be a giant, monolithic, blob that it's become. It was intended solely as a process where the equal states could conduct only very certain issues – affecting them all (such as foreign policy, dealing with the Native Americans, interstate judicial matters – Supreme Court – and the common defense, etc.).

Dear Mr Tallow, Svante Arrhenius was one of the most prominent scientist of the XIX century. He receive the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1903. The Greenhouse effect is overall good. Without it, the temperature would be below zero degrees. The bad thing is TOO MUCH greenhouse effect.
Before writing such things about someone that contributed so much to the science, please look at the books.
