HornerI am told that, at this morning’s hearing of the House Select Committee on Global Warming, the Ranking Republican Jim Sensenbrenner (WI) requested that the two administration science witnesses — White House science advisor John Holdren, most recently seen in the ClimateGate emails defending the erasing from history the Medieval Warm Period, and NOAA administrator and longtime activist Jane Loubchenco — be sworn in before testifying.
Chairman Ed Markey conferred, then denied the request.
Could lead to all sorts of unpleasant things. Like the truth. Or consequences.
That’s alright. I'm pretty sure their (the global warming alarmists) bullshit would bear up to any investigation worthy of the name. I feel lucky in one regard, though. I can't truly say I was ever fooled by any of it.
I despise Al Gore. If he ends up in a cell with a seven-foot cellmate named Bubba, all I could really say to him would be, "Sorry, dude, I hate it fuh yuh. 'Cept not rilly."
Why am I not surprised? Perhaps Markey has been buying up some carbon credits of his own?
If you look closely at the photo you will see what happened to the last guy to tried to raise his right arm!
Jim's a good principled man and a good representative – available to constituents and frequently seen near home, not hidden away in DC.
I see him walk in parades and shake his hand every year in my hometown. Keep fighting!

They are afraid to swear to anyting because the truth has a way of coming back to bite you. Facts are such stubborn things, someone great once said. If they do not say it under oath, then lying is so much easier, and has so little consequences, at least in this administration!

How exactly does one decline to put a witness under oath? Not that an oath would mean anything to them, but what's the point of saying no? Almost as if he is inviting false testimony.

To Ed Markey and other progressive, the truth is subjective. Why mess with that pesky oath thing anyway? It is more important to these fools to get to the real travesty in these hearings, the fact the e-mails were stolen.
Peer review sites told them that the word "trick" was taken out of context, pay no attention to the phrase "to hide the decrease".

I wonder if Markey got that paw fixed at the health department, in celebration of the coming healthcare utopia? No need to be under oath. It means nothing. Remember, congressional investigators could not even figure out what the meaning of "is" is.
As we have all learned by now the ends justify the means. Markey is a POS just like the rest of those who voted for dope and chains.
I believe there are legal implications to lying under oath that don't prevail in unsworn testimony. Remember Clinton was impeached for lying under oath, not for his affair with an intern.

Sensenbrenner is a good conservative, and is a tough legislator. I, too, see him several times a year at the sessions that he holds for constituents. He's a far cry better than either Senator Feingold or Senator Kohl, both of whom are far to the left and out of touch with anyone outside of the MIlwaukee/Madison areas.
Yesterday's WSJ had a good op-ed (Bret Stephens) on "Follow the Money" — the CRU "scientist" that just had to resign got something like 12 Million in grants between 2002 and 2006. No wonder they're all so concerned about "green" stuff.
Barbara Boxer thinks the person who stole the climategate emails is a criminal. Such perverted, twisted logic from an alternate universe dweller.

I lived in Sensenbrenner's District for quite a while and if our politicians would be as sincere as he is, we wouldn't need term limits.Now I'm in Cong. Gwen Moore district and she sucks…She's probably linked up heavily with the ACORN crowd. A Republican, Mr Sebring is running against her now.

when you deliberately refuse to allow someone's testimony to be given under oath, you are deliberately, tacitly, giving them permission to lie freely.
