ClimateGate: What are the Alarmists So Afraid of?

HornerThe alarmists’ reaction to CEI’s Notice of Intent to Sue NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) for withholding data–now for nigh on two years–has been particularly shrill, as regards my inquiry into the clearance and other deliberations over the non-official activities for the nasty, deceptive, third-party advocacy blog RealClimate.org by one GISS spokesman Gavin Schmidt on official, taxpayer-funded time.
When considering that apparently unacceptable Request for transparency as to what NASA was thinking in agreeing to spend my money that way, our Notice and the alarmists’ reaction in the current “ClimateGate” context, also consider the following relevant excerpt from “Red Hot Lies: How Global Warming Alarmists Use Threats, Fraud and Deception to Keep You Misinformed” (pp. 104-104). That nice red cover would look great under the tree this year, even if what’s inside the cover is burning the retinas of the global warming industry right about now:

Putting a bow on this package of interwoven relationships and back-scratching in pursuit of the elites’ agenda (and largely at taxpayer expense) comes the leading alarmist webblog RealClimate.org. Seemingly established in 2004 to counter, of all things, Michael Crichton’s novel, State of Fear, RealClimate serves as the popular science media’s main touchstone for alarmist memes second only to Gore and his advisor Hansen – and we see here that this is really a distinction without a difference. This outlet is populated by none other than NASA’s resident alarmist mouthpiece – and official spokesman for Hansen’s GISS shop – Gavin Schmidt. Although RealClimate touts the unpaid nature of their writers’ work, the time-stamps on Schmidt’s often highly personal blog posts make quite clear that these actually come on the taxpayer dime, as well. Other RealClimate writers include “Hockey Stick” Mann and Hockey Stick-related Casper Amman.
It turns out that Realclimate.org is owned by an outfit that is in essence a non-profit public relations firm called Environmental Media Services (EMS), “dedicated to expanding media coverage of critical environmental and public health issues”, whose Pittsburgh office houses the RealClimate server.[1] ActivistCash.com describes EMS as “the communications arm of leftist public relations firm Fenton Communications.”[2]
EMA’s listed registrant, Betsy Ensley, engages in the objective, non-partisan pursuit of “manag[ing] BushGreenwatch.org, a joint EMS-MoveOn.org public awareness website”.[3] She also apparently ran WomenAgainstBush.org, and former Harvard string theorist (and still-hilarious climate blogger) Lubos Motl notes that when Ensley was campaigning against John Ashcroft her secretary was Kalee Kreider, now Al Gore’s spokesperson.[4] MoveOn is of course in part a George Soros venture, and attentive climate realists recall the kafuffle over Soros supporting Hansen’s alarmism.[5]
Motl describes EMS as “primarily an organization to pay for junk science about food and beverages, often hired by food companies to damage their competitors”.[6] This is known as “black marketing.”[7]
This is not inconsistent with my own experience with Fenton, which I first encountered nearly two decades ago. Then, they were representing a “green” lawn care products company in a legislative effort to craft new federal laws creating a secure place in a market otherwise dominated by those whose products attain prominence through competition. This is a modus operandi that will sound very familiar by the time you finish this book. Fenton has also been associated with every questionable campaign from chasing Alar off the shelves by leveraging weepy celebrities and fear tactics to promoting Mother Sheehan’s tour.[8]
As critics note, the idea that RealClimate is just a bunch of unpaid “real scientists” is risible, given their methods of argumentation are often little more than smear, ridicule, cherry- picking science, and pronouncing themselves and their exclusive little climate clique as only the few “qualified’ to have an opinion on man-made global warming. RealClimate’s members, like Andrew Dessler of Grist and writers for the Soros-backed Climate Progress, perpetrate a unique form of “qualification thuggery” by which anyone skeptical of their agenda are unworthy to comment, typically because they skeptic does not affiliate with the UN IPCC. When the skeptic is an IPCC author or reviewer, well he’s still unqualified. And “mere physicists” such as Freeman Dyson, or chemists, or economists, are also unqualified, but only when they disagree. After all, Dessler is a chemist, and the IPCC’s “chief scientist” is no such thing at all, as you’ll see.
Absent agreement, this unholy alliance of activists, Big Science and other vested interests responds so viciously to even the whiff of dissent that it is impossible to not wonder what it is they are afraid of.

What are the Alarmists so afraid of? They are afraid of YOU.
They are afraid of someone standing up and telling the truth. They are afraid of someone "un-ringing" the alarm, and derailing their plans for making massive, copious and obscene amounts of money on their scam. YOU, are a threat to THEM. If I were you, I'd hire round the clock security……….
one question: WTF is NASA doing in this area in the first place? i understand the EPA being involved in this, and that they may occasionally rely on NASA for satellite data acquisition, but other than that?
Soros that name just keeps popping up behind all the crap that is hurting us. He seems to be the person that needs to go.
That is the ultimate objective, the consummate war game, the agenda. Control the weather, and you have just conquered the world.
The climate alarmists are afraid of the real truth getting out. Most are so heavily invested into this man-made global warming scam that they'd be broke and unemployable if the real facts ever get out. The followers of man-made climate change treat it as a religion, the scientists as the priests and places such as NASA and universities as the temples.
With the scientists in both academia as well as places such as NASA, to work and get the big government money, you have to support this nonsense. Many have been at it so long that they believe their own junk science now. For the scientists, it all comes down to being able to work and get the big budgets to work with and as we've seen, they are more than willing to sell their soul to do it.
They are afraid of debate for fear of losing their big cash cow. Get the federal government out of business that it is not constitutionally mandated to provide and these so called scientists can go to the private sector for their grants. Last I heard Ohio State University is not called the University of the United States in Columbus, Ohio.
It's fairly clear to me. They're afraid of being exposed for the common criminals they are.
Certainly, they have uncommon methods. Their goals, however, are as common as dirt. They're the same goals — money, power and recognition — that have been pursued for millennia by those who eschew actual work while but love the fruits of actual work.
Our industry, our labor, our sweat, our property — it means nothing to them. The human right to property doesn't exist in their closed-off little world. Screw them. I'm not turning over my life to these rapists and destroyers.

It's the data stupid. The truth about the fraud is out, and there's so much of it coming out that even with BIGMEDIA playing interference, there is no way that the general public can be sheltered. It is now on the level of, say, trying to convince people that the sun is not hot.
I have never bookmarked sites as much as I have in the past week or so. Weee! what fun.
NASA puts up satellites, shuttles, and sometimes space stations, which requires rocketing through the atmosphere, so they like to know what the weather may be at a particular day and time. Long-range accurate forecasting is nice, so they work on understanding climate and how it works. With enough understanding of the principles, they could even apply the work to other planets.
Add bureaucracy, grant money, an agenda, cover in ivory tower "air of superiority," let ferment unchecked, and voila! Climategate!

Junk Science is the root of all evil. Those that don't agree demoralize them, discredit them and make them look stupid. For all of the great researchers out there I would start looking at all those "so called" quack scientists for the truth. Junk Science and other communist tactics were used against big tobacco. Now big Tobacco is in bed with Bigger Pharma. The more meds to sell to get people to quit smoking the more money. The more people that believe the environmental scam the more money in their pockets. The more vaccines given out the more money. All lies and fraud for control power & money. These sick SOB's with pay if not in our life time then in the next. Thanks for the articles on BPA in cans & other products, one question though, why is BPA even used? Is this one of those chemicals that won't kill you right away, but eventually you will be so sick you will need to be medicated. All this junk science comes full circle.
Someone should dig thru RealClimate and graph the timestamps of Schmidt, Mann and Hansen posts. I expect most of the posts were done during normal business hours. Also if the blog comments were moderated by Schmidt, he probably spent a good part of his day reading comments and then deciding whether to delete or allow to be listed on the site. NASA like other govt facilities probably has badge access. Part of your discovery suit should get the security logs for when they were at work in order to correlate against posting times.
I believe the climate scientists have built themselves a cozy little home lined with taxpayer dollars from around the world so now that they've adjusted to the "good life" they see an end to it coming at them like a freight train. The interesting thing will be seeing to and making sure these idiots never receive a dollar of grant money in the future. if no jail time, definitely no grants or funding then. Let this be the lesson that teaches other 'scientists' how to act when on the taxpayer's dime.

It’s not that people who are trying to draw attention to a real problem that will affect humanity in a cataclysmic manner and is being denied by those too selfish to not see the ramifications of their actions for their children and generations beyond want to hide some nefarious conspiracy; it’s that the part of humanity, too ignorant and delusional to see reality as such, are too stupid to understand the complex concepts involved with understanding the effects humanity is having on the climate of the whole planet.
Apparently, those not willing to see the dangers that lay ahead, the proverbial cliff’s edge they are racing towards in the vehicle of their children’s future, are too stupid to even learn from the most recent collapse of the world’s economy.
Curiously, the source of ignorance that led the world racing off the economic cliff through happy thoughts and wishful thinking that home prices could double every three weeks forever; is now also the prime source of ignorance for the disaster that is man-mad climate change. There is nothing that will bail out the planet’s climate and defer collapse, nothing that will bail you out from having to suffer the consequences of your stupidity.
The Generation Jones and Baby Boomers are going to go down in history as the most ignorant people, responsible for casting the world into chaos even though they could have deferred their mystical thinking, ignorance, and sense of entitlement influenced snap judgments to those far more intelligent and skilled. Why is it that in America, we feel that every single fool and simpleton has the same authority to speak on anything they wish and it be accepted as credible. Yes, that means all of you. Each and every single denier that is not trained in even the most simple skills necessary to understand scientifically technical subject matter.
There should be no openness, because your stupid self will not understand it and simply latch onto something that sounds recognizable to you, even though it is far from, and construe it to support your preconceived opinion.
Hansen, the guy who runs NASA's Goddard Institute, is one of Al Gore's business partners. He sits on GIM's board.
Algore is the first one who should be investigated. He's the front man, the face of this scam and he has profited mightily.

I am not a big fan of blaming all political and economic ills on soros but if indeed he is a valid threat to America and capitalism then the company needs to fix this problem and fix it with extreme prejudice.
I think the end game is to reap massive financial rewards after rigging the system for only their benefit in the name of protecting the planet. The data are in the faces of Man-Made Climate Change supporters and they still refuse to acknowledge the evidence.
These same scientists threatened my job with the US Geological Survey when trying to publish a study showing with higher confidence that global temperature changes were natural and caused solely by Earth's physical processes. Additionally, these same scientists would not discuss or refute the science and facts presented. Instead, they took two days to personally insult and attack me.
I always knew that when man-made global climate change was shown as insignificant that people would lose faith, note the word "FAITH", in science. But this event and exposure is by far worse for the science community; but "Truth is the daughter of Time (Francis Bacon)".
Several USGS scientists got fired for the same thing when discussing data manipulation for models developed for the Nevada Nuclear Test Site. But no outcry and defense for those scientists?
IF you see no problem with this and not wondering if the public has been misled by these scientists, then you are not scientists, you're in denial, and you stand for no moral principles.
On 25 November 2009 at 12:15 PM, I tried to post comments on RealClimate.org concerning this matter. That website refused the posts because they know me; another attempt to silence objective parties and since they were the ones that threatened my job…..
Now, Al Gore PUBLICLY states Mantle temperatures are MILLIONS of DEGREES. The man doesn't have the morality, decency, and/or courage to publicly admit he was WRONG. SO WHY SHOULD these scientists admit they are wrong? They can't, because if they do, the gig is up.
Stop bitching, take responsibility and take action. Stop all donations to the political party(s) responsible for this fraud. Stop donations to all environmental groups which funded this Global Warming propaganda campaign with our money, especially The Environmental Defense Fund. Write your state and federal representatives demanding wall to wall investigations of government sponsored funding and coordination of this and related propaganda campaigns and demand indictments of those responsible. Write your state and federal Attorneys General demanding Al Gore and others conducting Global Warming/Climate Change racketeering and mail fraud operations be brought to justice, indicted, tried, convicted and jailed. That’s what I have done in response to this outrageous violation of the public trust. Think of the consequences if you do nothing!
This phenomenon has been studied for nearly 50 years and accepted as highly plausible by the Royal Society (I have the Publication) but the process and connection were unexplainable; the only drawback of all Magnetic Intensity and Ambient Temperature studies in their WORDS up till now. We explained the Process in our paper along with the data analysis. Unfortunately, we used the Hadley Global Temperature Datasets. The data used were yearly averages, which was well explained both in the original paper and the 2008 AGU presentation. Just didn't see any RealClimate people at the presentation. The following is what I perceived as personal intimidation and a threat to call my USGS supervisor for doing this study. The only reason someone uses words like "Does your boss know what your doing" in the context of this event is a threat to get you FIRED if you don't cease and desists. Now if the study and theory were not plausible and a potential explanation of global temperature variability, then why would RealClimate.org do what they did in their posts, not very professional for PhDs. Additionally, there are many other areas on that website where conversations took place.

But the people have actually allowed this to happen to fruition by allowing the gov't to raise taxes up to 2,200% on the backs of 60 million smokers! I believe the Copenhagen Treaty Summit should be cancelled! How in God's name can this be considered a legal agreement when a "Huge Amount" of the basis for the "Climate Change Data" has been found to be "Fraudulently Sabotaged" and absolutely "Inaccurate"? This is signing a contract or agreement Document that has "No Legal Foundation" of Realistic conditions or elements due to "Inaccurate and Manipulated Data" as described and therefore, anything stated on this "Copenhagen Treaty Document" should be considered "Null and Void"! Why create a Pandora's Box, subject to "Lawsuits and Misgivings" due to total inaccuracy of "Scientific Measurements"? Which "Now" is proving to be the case! This Treaty has no Legal ground to stand on and is and will be a "False Document" from day one!

Try as I might in your posting and in comments, I can't actually find the "the alarmists' reaction" that you note is particularly shrill. Is there something we are missing here? Do I need to post an intent to file in order to find out what you think is 'particularly shrill'?
Well @wsscherk, that paragraph just tumbles out doesn't it ? The whole post has an "I danced with the man who danced with the girl who danced with the Prince of Wales" style of argument.
