Al Gore and the Great Debate: Will He or Won’t He?

But, by his steadfast, years-long refusal to do anything other than pontificate about his views, such as defend them in an exchange with anyone who might know what they’re talking about, he does seem to be adopting some form of the adage “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt”.
So, today the Competitive Enterprise Institute has launched its Gore Debate Challenge. As CEI’s press release notes:
“For years, Al Gore has steadfastly refused to debate the global warming issue. Most recently, he ignored a put-up-or-shut-up challenge on the Glenn Beck Show from climate policy expert Lord Christopher Monckton, a former British government adviser. Today, the Competitive Enterprise Institute hopes to change all that with the release of a new video campaign. In it, CEI offers Mr. Gore a $500 check, together with the proceeds of a world-wide email pledge-a-dollar drive, all aimed at persuading Mr. Gore to accept Lord Monckton’s challenge.
“To our knowledge, Mr. Gore hasn’t been in a debate since he ran for president,” said Sam Kazman, CEI General Counsel. “But given that he and his allies are seeking the biggest tax increase in history in the form of new energy taxes and rationing, he ought to at least have to courage to engage in a face-to-face defense of his position,” Kazman stated.
CEI’s video debate challenge comes several weeks before a major United Nations conference on climate change in Copenhagen, which begins on December 7. Representatives from 192 countries are expected to attend that conference. Global warming alarmists hope to reach a new agreement to ratchet up international restrictions on energy use. The previous agreement, the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, expires in 2012.
At the same time, the US Congress is deliberating over major climate change legislation to set up a cap-and-tax carbon trading scheme.

C’mon, Al. Too divine for divinity school, we know. Now, reveal to the world that the reason the legal training was similarly interrupted was that there simply was no need. It’s past time you showed us once and for all that, even though Her Majesty’s Government went 0-for11 in the Dimmock case trying to defend your bombastic claims – including the premise, that ice core data shows that CO2 drives warming, when in fact the literature shows it is precisely the other way around, which you surely knew – you can do a better job than those government barristers with their powdered wigs and fancy licenses.
You see, word is getting around that, despite all of the claims that “the science is settled” as a way to move on and avoid the horrors of debate, no one has ever identified when it was settled, or what settled it. Now’s your chance. Let’s settle things, once and for all. We have eleven months and, this way, the 2010 “Kyoto Elections” will be resounding and conclusive in their result. A climate change mandate! At last.
Come on. Do it. Now, make it the turn of those who disagree with you to look the fool.

There is a good reason why Gore refuses to debate global warming. He doesn't want his ass handed to him on a silver platter. Hence avoid debates at any cost.

Folks, I am seeing and sensing that the majority of the American people are beginning to focus in on the expense and failure of Obama's monstrosity initiatives. I know we've heard all about 2010 and 2012 being a blowout against Democrats but I do believe this to be the case. We just have to make sure whoever our leaders are going forward be as spotless on integrity, character and values as humanly possible or they too will bounced out just as Lindsey Graham is being punished if not bounced out himself.
It just baffles my mind that the left thinks the majority of the electorate is in their corner when its obvious to me they are most unequivocally not.

I can't blame Al for not wanting to go on the record in a debate, he has nothing to gain and everything to lose, tactically it's a smart move for him.
His time is running out though, people are starting to catch on, and he will find himself in a catch 22 moment soon.
The 2010 elections will provide fertile ground to draw out the proponents of global warming, climate change, or anthropomorphic caused giant lizard attacks, or whatever scare mongering tactic that are promoting this week.
Jobs is will still be number one, but corruption and redistribution (which are both joined at the hip) plays strongly into why the economy tanked and will stay tanked. GW/GCC etc. can easily be presented to the American people for what it is, a raid on our treasury and subversion of the constitution.
Hopefully we will get some candidates that can elegantly explain this and won't back down in the face of progressive chameleon "compassionate" gibberish or chicken little scare tactics.

I watched the Congressional Budget Office take less than 48 hours to put a price-tag on Obama's plans (after they looked pretty dead.) The budget figures looked good. The budget figures, which had to be based on vague ideas, not concrete statistics, were within Obama's limits. They rejuvenated his health care plan.
I watched elections nationwide where the vote was too close, and the polling places were surrounded by gangs.
I watched a young American saying, Obama is gonna give me money."
I would like to believe we can restore the Republic, but I'm not sure we can fight against the Machine. There is too much corruption.

Talking about polar bears, please pay attention to what they are trying to do TO Alaska. Putting polar bears on the endangered list even though they have increased in population. It's nonsense. They are trying to put more restrictions on drilling for oil. Pure and simple.

How about it, Al? Start by explaining why you told Conan O'Brien that the earth's temperature is a couple million degrees at 2 kilometers or so down. 2 MILLION DEGREES!!! Fine, let's go. First of all, "Endangered" is an largely artificial, highly subjective evaluation of any organism's survivability under a certain set of conditions. One of the main problems with any such designation is man's inability to know, with any degree of accuracy, what the historic levels have been. For all we know, polar bears may well be at an all-time high in their existence, meaning they have evidently survived far lower pop. levels over the millennia.
To go from the general to the specific, accurate counts of polar bears are extremely problematic. We're talking about mostly solitary animals spread over a range of millions of square miles. Throw in their excellent camouflage and the often harsh weather, and you're trying to count blond needles in the world's biggest haystack during a tornado. Furthermore, as peak predators their populations tend to be cyclical based on several interdependent factors. In other words, their numbers tend to fluctuate naturally. Any meaningful assessment must necessarily include averages calculated over a number of years- ten yrs minimum, and probably longer. And of course, those still get back to the accuracy, or at least the consistency, of the annual census. Then the decadal avgs need figured into longer term trends, etc. Bottom line, the data on polar bears is so ridiculously short term and unavoidably incomplete, that any global climate policy intended to 'save' them is a charlatan's prayer masquerading as a plan.
