Global Warming: Your (Big) Government at Work
by Christopher C. HornerEven for those not paying very close attention to the news in recent months, this headline from today’s “Climate Wire” may strike you as a tad incongruent:

Possibly the Pentagon’s advice on this matter will find favor in the White House.
The hook for the $5.5 million boondoggle is “how rising seas and strengthening storms could affect coastal bases, perhaps causing facilities to be abandoned or moved over the next century.” Of course, the idea of shrieking press releases (and headlines soon thereafter) of a “Pentagon study predicts inundation” never entered anyone’s mind and are nothing we should look forward to, if history is any guide.
Yet, outside of certain hysterical quarters, sea level rise is not that great a mystery: it rises between coolings, particularly glaciations (ice ages) which we fortunately find ourselves in between. It does so at a fairly constant rate of about 8 inches per century. That remained true following the end of the Little Ice Age in the mid 19th century until today, with no statistical change in the pace since then (unless you count the most recent years; read on). Then it falls. When things cool, as has been the case in recent years, sea level rise plateaus and even reverses depending on how great the cooling. Indeed, the satellites we already pay so much for – and which, like those measuring the (cooling) atmospheric temperatures, are being ignored – tell us that sea level rise peaked in 2005 (wow, this guy works fast!).
The point is, just as in the ongoing battle over redirecting the CIA to study “global warming”, it isn’t just that all sorts of government agencies are getting into areas that seem a tad silly, but that our government seems to have almost entirely lost focus in the process of rapidly expanding its size and scope.
Also along those lines, you read last week about the Obama administration siccing a taxpayer-funded agency to assail the work (and the person) of foreign academics who studied the performance of a foreign government’s policies, for the apparent reason that in doing so these academics embarrassed the Obama administration which touted the policies as a success and therefore their model for America. Falsely, it turned out.
Well, yesterday I sent Freedom of Information Act requests to the Department of Energy headquarters seeking documents from the relevant headquarters office, which by chance is headed by Catherine Zoi, who was until recently a senior staffer for one of Al Gore’s “global warming” outfits. I also FOIA’d the agency that DoE HQ apparently sicced on the Spaniards (at whose orders we are going to find out), which is the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, both in DC and its field office in Golden, Colorado. One reason for FOIA-ing them all is that NREL and DoE are both on record swearing it was all the other guy’s idea. Hmm.
You will be kept apprised of the results, but I note one hitch uncovered in preparing these documents. It does seem that this most transparent government in history is cleverly trying to shield certain sensitive and priority developments from our transparency laws, such as FOIA. On DoE’s website we see such an attempt.
Types of Information
Q What types of information does the FOIA apply to?
The FOIA only applies to “agency records,” information in the possession and control of the government. Information contained in the files of Golden’s contractors, including the contractor that manages and operates DOE’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), is releasable under the FOIA only if the contract states that specific documents relating to work under the contract will be the property of the government. In such cases, the documents are contractually treated as government documents and are subject to a FOIA. The NREL contract does specify that some records are the property of the contractor and some are the property of the government. (emphases added)
In this case, NREL was outsourced at an estimated cost of $1.1 billion to something called the Alliance for Sustainable Energy, a group that is surely objective to the core about the costs and benefits of “renewable energy”. This transfer took place beginning in July of this year which, if my math is right, could be about the time the decision was made to go after the offending foreign academics. More later.

The possibility that ocean levels would rise and inundate DC, upgrading the area to a swamp, instead of the idealogical landfill it has now become, gives me hope for true change.
Just as people don't study history in school anymore, they absolutely don't study geology, AT ALL. And, if the MSM can't get even the most rudimentary of actually "big" stories onto their front pages (fully / accurately presented, I should add), it's not hard to imagine that whatever has landed in such a place is worth questioning as to it's relevance, factual nature, degree of magnitude of an issue, etc. As they say, 485 wrongs don' t make a right
.
There's no denying that being generally good "stewards" of our earth is the respectable thing to do but being extremist based on misinformation can do more harm than good. There is at least one feature I've read (I believe it was from a paper in Oregon – Corvallis maybe?) that demonstrated how organic farming is actually having a damaging effect on the environment.
Can we not do anything in moderation anymore?

I have zero trust of Congress and the Presidency. There is far more secret, behind the doors planning in this government than ever before. They know we do not trust them but they just say, "F— you!" The only change I believe in any more is the CHANGE OF CONGRESS AND ADMINISTRATION…VOTE!!!

Personally, I do not claim to be an expert or an authority, but there are several things that I do know and understand. I understand the energy industry, and the ranching industry. Yet first and foremost I am an environmentalist. I believe we all are stewards of the land, and the way we treat it is a reflection on us.
The EPA should be required to submit Economic Impact Studies before it takes it's usually draconian actions. You are absolutely right about the GREATEST FRAUD EVER PERPETRATED. Environmentalists gone wild are going to be the death of California and their sick anti-human goals are being spread across the rest of this nation faster the the Swine Flu, with much more devastating resluts.

Ok, But over the last 600 M years the ocean level has gone down 546ft, and is going to go down another 323ft in the next 100 M years. That's how we got all this dry land. Where is the water going? In the deep ocean trenches the weight of the water is so great that it's pushing the sea floor into the center of the earth. Ok so let's see Al Gore stop this!!

So, if the government outsources projects and writes into the government contract that the intellectual property garnered through the research is not owned by the government we can't see it unless they want us to. I wonder if this is a new strategy or if this has been common practice for some time to get around releasing non-classified information. Either way, it's disgusting and a complete contradiction of the administrations promise to the voters during the election. But, then again pretty much everything they have done is.
Tune into CBC television, Canadian Broadcast Corporation, you know that radical right wing government owned television in Canada. It ran a special "Global Warming – Doomsday Called Off" that you can download in five parts over You Tube. Not that warming is a hoax, just it isn't happening at a pace that is a threat. Show also pointed out the famous hockey stick is a fraud, and timing of when we began to measure weather accurately arrived at a time global temperatures were at the lowest point in 8,000 years, 1875. Mentions Greenland Ice cores, the same ones that 'prove' global warming is a doomsday scenario in fact point out the opposite.
Show mentions Al Gore in a rather fitting fashion.

If you really want to join the Brown Shorts Club, for a long time despite numerous large experiments there was a noted deficit in the measured amounts of neutrinos from the Sun, well short of theory (see the Solar Neutrino Problem). This indicated that apparently the fusion processes in the core of the Sun had gone out. This would take thousands of years to have a noticeable effect due to the immense retained heat, but when the fusion ends in a star a normal result is a nova, caused when the interior collapses without the generated heat and pressure of the fusion reactions.
This has been "solved" by assuming that neutrinos possibly do have some mass, can change what type they are, and a few other "tweaks" to the model. Since this yields the result desired (the Sun is still on) and the modeling now agrees with the observations, these things must be true. Now note how the Sun has gone silent and is giving off less energy….
All of the above is of course racist, since if the Sun really has gone dead, during the resulting Great Exodus into space in the search for habitable worlds and the continuation of the human species, Africa is looking really low on the evacuation list.

Humans do influence their environment. They should not pollute because they can make the ground, water, and air poisonous to life. It is however, completely arrogant of mankind to think he can control the earth, sun, and universe. Global warming, Global cooling, Ocean rise and fall, Weather conditions are all natural occuring phenomenom and are beyond man's ability to manipulate.
