Our National Debt is Growing to Immoral and Unsafe Proportions
by Chuck DeVoreIf you are under 30, you really need to read this column and pass it on to your friends. Your elected officials are dooming you to a new sort of bondage, a form of 21st Century slavery, if you will.

First, some background.
On October 16, 1854, Abraham Lincoln, then a former one-term Congressman, gave a three hour speech in Peoria, Illinois in which he decried the extension of slavery into the territories. The Republican Party was barely three months old. Lincoln warned that slavery was a “monstrous injustice” based on the raw principle of “self-interest” at odds with the “fundamental principles of civil liberty.”
Lincoln was moved to action by the repeal of the Missouri Compromise, widely seen as a check on the growth of slavery in the territories.
At Peoria, Lincoln presented the economic, legal and moral case against slavery.
Today, we are faced with a similar and urgent crisis: a burgeoning debt at all levels of government that threatens our prosperity, our posterity, and our probity.
This week, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 218-214 to raise the debt limit to $12.4 trillion. Including all unfunded liabilities, such as Medicare and Social Security, federal obligations have reached $106 trillion.
Just the cost of paying back the borrowing from President Obama’s Stimulus plan, which I opposed, will cost you $280 per month for the rest of your life. Imagine buying and trashing an iPod every month for the rest of time – that’s the practical impact of just one of the many planned expansions of government from Obama, Reid, Pelosi and Boxer.
Meanwhile, garden variety federal spending – spending that grew too fast under our last president as well – is vaulting even higher, with Senator Boxer recently voting for a “routine” $1.1 trillion appropriations bill that spends 12 percent more than last year.
Paying for all of this federal spending will eventually force middle-class tax rates to double. For those in college that means you will likely have to postpone starting a family and buying a house, take longer to pay off your student loans, and have less savings for education, health care, and retirement.
This is intergenerational theft and it is immoral.
In fact, it has a certain parallel to slavery. In effect, your leaders are stealing from your future while you, those younger than you, and those yet born, don’t have a say in the process. It is, as Lincoln said, based on pure “self-interest.” Of the mounting debt and its impact on the 65 million Americans between the ages of 16 and 30 we can invoke Lincoln by saying that your, “sacred right of self government is grossly violated by it!”
In this, California is a harbinger, once again, for the nation. Our state debt and obligations are approaching half a trillion dollars. This has led to a plummeting credit rating that pumps up the cost of borrowing. This, in turn, diminishes the money available to fund schools, repair roads, and provide social services. That’s why, as a lawmaker, I have yet to vote for a general obligation bond that would be repaid by the taxpayers – our credit card has been maxed out since I arrived in Sacramento in 2004 and, no matter what the claimed urgency, I have resisted the temptation to add to debt that my 18 and 12-year-old daughters would have to repay for the next 30 years.
Our national debt also has profound and unsettling national security ramifications. Since Mr. Obama became president, the Peoples Republic of China has quietly sold their long-term U.S. government securities and shifted their entire $985 billion government debt portfolio to securities with six-month maturities. What might happen next spring when the Chinese simply let these securities mature and demand dollars for their debt?
Once upon a time, Americans were concerned for their children, for future generations. They saved and invested and built. Today, those in charge are taking the full inheritance from those whose turn at the helm is yet to come. In a sense, allowing their raw self-interest in massively borrowing for the present to bury the future. We are living better today at the expense of those who largely cannot vote. Why? Because we can.
The institution of slavery was also driven by self-interest. One man was able to live off the sweat of another man’s brow. Why? Because he could.
Perhaps America has become hardened to her children. Perhaps the generation in power today, a generation raised on self-interest, self-gratification, and self-actualization, cannot help but to steal from the future to bolster their present.
I can only hope that California’s youth will awake to the danger and reclaim their future before it is too late.
One last word. When Lincoln spoke at Peoria, the Republican Party was in its infancy. Today, the Republican Party is 155-years-old. In recent years we lost our way on the principle of fiscal discipline. Many current and former Party leaders either encouraged Big Government or idly stood by without thought of the economic, moral and future implications. This is why the Republican Party ranks lower in many eyes than an as yet unformed “Tea Party.” But, the debt crisis is too dire, and the stakes too high, to try to form a new party in the midst of this storm. Instead, those of us who care about America and its future must act now to fully reclaim the Republican Party and fashion it into a real alternative to the Big Government, Big Spending, Big Borrowing and Big Taxing ways of the Democratic Party. It is only by first being true to our principles that can we hope to successfully challenge Barbara Boxer, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and their allies.

This is all playing into the Cloward-Piven strategy of economic recovery. . .forewarned is forearmed! Wake up Americans who are still supporting the Left. . .unless they subscribe to bringing down the country and remake it as a socialist/communist state!
http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/02/the_clowar...
"The Cloward/Piven Strategy is named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. Their goal is to overthrow capitalism by overwhelming the government bureaucracy with entitlement demands. The created crisis provides the impetus to bring about radical political change."
Interesting article. Its even more interesting that the obligatory "don't form a third party" bit was thrown in at the end. Not sure i necessarily agree with that.
Republicans can say whatever they want, but its actions that i care about. And i'll never vote for another career politician. I've had it with the establishment and the political parties. They're all full of crap. I'm voting for the candidate who most closely reflects my values.. i don't care if the person is from the democratic, republican, or tea party.
Just go ahead and say it: Enslavement is chic when they do it.
I have a grandson due to be born on the last day of this year. The poor little guy is fu&%@d already! Remember, EVERY VOTE COUNTS! Let's turn this mess around.
"those of us who care about America and its future must act now to fully reclaim the Republican Party and fashion it into a real alternative to the Big Government, Big Spending, Big Borrowing and Big Taxing ways of the Democratic Party"
Mr. DeVofe the Repuplican brought this fire stome of wrath on themselves with their corruption and ineptness for the last decade. Further, if they keep throwing good money after bad on RINO's Chrlie Christ, and Trey Greyson, they do so at their own peril. Steele, Gingrich are you listening?
first order of business is to get conservative candidates in office at every level. if a 3rd party is in the future, let it happen. right now we must stop the spending, reduce the size of government and do all we can to reverse these massive expansions of the federal government.
I failed to note in your article the current amount of US assets including land, industry, personal and corporate assets.
It exceeds $152 trillion dollars.
You bloggers need to stop harping on a national debt that represents less than 10% of our national assets. It's not the problem. The problem is that we've spent too much time watching "Dancing With The Stars" and "Survivor" while a minority class of neo-Marxist liberal progressives has moved into our government and is trying to turn us into Europe.
Todays "30 somethings" as you call them need to get into the real, unrevised history of America, how and why it was founded, what it represents to the rest of the world and then vote out the gaggle of left wing Chicago politicians currently in Washington and vote in some real leaders.
That's the only way they will prevent themselves from becoming future slaves.
We should as a society bury liberalism and shame anybody who dares admit they are liberal. What is so irksome is that this unsustainable debt is the one way that the liberal (whether it be dem or rino) dream of tearing down capitalism so to empower a political class without firing one weapon.
Mr. Devore,
Excellent column; unfortunately those under thirty that you cite that should read this and take note, are too uninformed, too uneducated, and too complacent to give a $hit. They get their news from Jon Stewart, and their utmost concerns are what is in Vogue, what new cell tone rings are on the market, and who is winning American Idol, and who got booted off of Survivor Island. The Republic is doomed…………
Just think of that large amount of money spent on that Iraq war – and to authorize massive tax cuts while fighting TWO wars. I knew back then we were heading to disaster. At least America will keep that right wing ideology out of power for the indefinite future.
I agree that "don't form a third party" may be a little self serving, but I also agree with Mr. Devore in the sense that an actual Tea Party will do little more than split the conservative vote (I'm assuming that a large number of conservatives vote Republican).
If I understand the Tea Partiers correctly, they are not particularly enamoured of either Democrats or Republicans – they're probably closer to Libertarians. I believe they would vote for any party that represented liberty and fiscal sanity.
It would be far better for the Republican party to return to their roots as Mr. Devore suggests. If they did, the whole Tea Party movement would probably gladly dissolve into the Republican base.
Yeah, because there's been a huge downturn in government spending, and the deficits won't increase by, at a minimum, $1 Trillion per year, for the next 10 years.
Dems are spending us into oblivion even faster than the Repubs… which should be shocking.
I wish this message was out there more for the youth of this Nation. We have royally screwed their futures and they are completely unaware. We have set them up for a great fall also in the fact that they are spoiled with the lifestyle they are living now and adjusting to what is coming is going to be very difficult for them.
With the excessive spending we are currently running, which is being financed with dollars that are being printed with nothing to back it up, when this money starts to flow…and it will start to flow soon…we will experience hyper-inflation like we have never seen. It will make Jimmy Carter look like a piker and I remember those days very well as a young adult.
If you are a parent, you need to prepare your kids of all ages for what is coming down the pike. It will not be pretty. They need to start learning about the simple things again. I am afraid that the infrastructure that has been laid down by recent bills that have passed through Congress will have put in place a new system of governing by the time 2012 has come around. Our only hope is a new Reagan and a new attitude with the people of this country, learning to live without their special program, entitlements, or having the attitude it is owed to me because I paid into it! It will be interesting to say the least, in how all of this plays out.
So how shall proud America be brought down? Will all of these entitlements and political giveaways drag down our economy and grind it to nothing? Or will the world suddenly no longer want to buy US debt? China looks like it may bail on buying new debt and may start unloading the old, and there are many other "rich" countries in pretty bad shape. A sudden cascade of defaults and debt downgradings could happen, plunging the world into an economic depression, especially without a strong American economy anchoring the world markets.
Can we wait to the 2010 elections? We've seen how this liberal Congress with this President, this three headed beast, is willing to screw up anything possible overnight and wreak as much havoc as possible to further their agenda. Could we even trust this Congress to do no more harm between losing the November 2010 election and bringing in the next one?
To be sure, they will keep the right wing out of power, "you'se people will do everything, including lie, cheat, steal, bribe, buy votes, and sell America right down the drain, just to keep the retards voting Dimmocrat.
Article (emphasis added): "Including all unfunded liabilities, such as Medicare and Social Security, federal obligations have reached $106 trillion."
Jim (emphasis added): "I failed to note in your article the current amount of US assets including land, industry, personal and corporate assets.
It exceeds $152 trillion dollars.
You bloggers need to stop harping on a national debt that represents less than 10% of our national assets."
Must be some of that "new math" in the public schools these days.
Now, when you say "US assets" and include personal and corporate, are you saying everything in the entire country owned by anyone adds up to $152 trillion? Thus more than 2/3 of everything is what the debt is up to? And that is not a problem?
I'm guessing that democratic underground is off line and someone got lost.
It's only been a year. When Nov. 2010 gets here, that’s when we need to look at this situation and determine the outlook. There's too much Birth-er, Socialist, Devil Worshiper propaganda clouding the dialogue. It's counter-productive especially to the Right who get dismissed only for being on the same side with all of the Clem Kaddlehopper's who join in the political debate to the best of their ability, albeit, limited by their lack of sophistication.
Let's get a few billionaires to chip in a little more for starters. Combine that with some spending cuts down the road when the economists determine the time is right.
New Tea Party is the only moral choice. How do you think we got here? It is because everyone has been cowered into voting for only A or B. Everyone has been told, if you vote for C, you will split the vote of that which you want and concede the election to the opposition. That "may" be, but we need a new party – and if it takes some lost election cycles to get there – that is the pain that must be incurred. It's time to act principled and dedicated, not as the scared serfs of A or B. All legislation can be overturned by a future body of legislators. Let us vote Tea Party next year and 3 years – the American people have no choice but to cast off the existing system which is orchestrated by the bankers and get the rebels voted in. That is our only hope short of something far worse.
Yea and the MSM says nothing …. zero …nadda…
Don't forget "THE CENSUS WAS MOVED TO THE WHITEHOUSE FOR A REASON"
So tell us how to reverse and stop this.
I take pleasure in seeing "dear leader's" ratings at -17 today. On january 21st of this year his ratings were +28.
He's skiing down an icy precipice to oblivion and trying to take us with him but that won't happen because "we the people" have resolve and strength never to become a communist nation. Just wait and see.
I'm 24. I read BigGov/BigHolly every day. i am by no means complacent, and i give lots of $hit. However, I agree with the last sentence as I don't know how or who or what can save the Republic.
Brings to mind the 2009 White House Christmas card: http://optoons.blogspot.com/2009/12/2009-white-ho...
Hey there bucharoo, you are only about half right. Lots of youngens do have their heads up their a$$es, but it turns out, thats just as good of a place as any because those a$$ heads are empty anyhow.

if you'll notice, there doesn't seem to be much difference in foreign policy between Obama and his predecessor. The international banksters have a hammerlock on BOTH parties; it isn't a left/right thing anymore.
If it ever really was…
GOPs survival will depend on thier understanding that this time it will be far better to let the tail wag the dog. Tthey better back off on Charlie Christ in Florida Mark Rubio will win with or without republican support. The same goes for Rand Paul in Kentucky, if the GOP thashes him to push the Lindsey Grahm Trey Greyson they will get a fight from the Tea Party. Many people think a third party is a waste of votes. Is a vote for Dede Scuzawata not a waste? I hope the GOP is seeing the polls. They better be prepared to ether be fundimentally transormed or have their big tent trampled…
The people are pissed man. We want our country back.
Everyone needs to call their Congressmen and ask them to get something in the bill for their state… DEMAND IT !!!! This would put REID in a tissy …. Cal call call … Tell them what does "my" state get ??? If bribing is ok then your state deserves $$$$ too!!!
Reid would be screaming "Stop asking for changes !!!!!!" it would drive him nuts !!!!!
Although, I personally am so far to the left that even the democrats appear to me to be "right-wing," I consider myself to be a strict constitutionalist. It is my opinion that since its inception there has been an organized and systematic assault by the conservatives in the United States (and in the other industrialized nations) on the civil liberties written into the US Constitution. The “War on Drugs”; “War on Terror”; “War on Communism” and a host of other wars waged by the right wing are really nothing more than a War on People–an excuse to erode civil rights to the point of non-existence. I invite you to my website devoted to raising awareness on this puritan attack on freedom: http://pltcldscsn.blogspot.com/
we need massive improvements across the board…
Obama is an empty suit- you will soon come to believe this. He is a shill for the same interests 'W' was for, the Fed/anglophile banksters and the AUG's and Goldman Sachs of the world. Do not hold out any hope for him, he is just an emissary, and his Cook County crew disposable.
The international interests have decided to replace the neocon model with the socialist model- to further divide us and make them even richer. It is truly disgusting, and until we replace all of them with true citizen legislators we're pretty much screwed…
That is exactly what it is!
Is anyone really suprised that the party that fought so hard against emancipation and civil rights is the same one that is trying to chain the American tax payer?
I'm still not getting why a third party doesn't make sense.
I would propose that the third party be focused on winning as many house/senate seats in the states and in the Federal Government as possible. Leave the presidential election to the two party system and endorse the "proper" candidate (ie the CONSERVATIVE candidate). The best approach is to concentrate on states that do not have a majority election requirement so that a third party could potentially win with less than 50.1 percent of the vote.
This would provide two benefits:
1. The third party would gain representation
2. The Republicans would be forced to act like conservatives to get an agenda through the representative bodies
After consolidating control over the house/senate then the Third Party (Call it TEA or whatever) could then nominate a candidate for President with the strength of the party being more than a figurehead without support in the representative bodies.
It can't be. We're fucked.
Well, thats great!
You are a start. It is up to you, and people like you, to convince your friends, your peer group to get active. Tell them how important this all is.
You mean there is zero percent chance that Obama is more than a puppet? (That's depressing. But I still plan to keep hoping for a little while longer.)
Merry Christmas dcase.
well, it is the season of Hope…
sorry for the downer. We saw this guy come up the ranks. Cahrming and smooth but little else, afraid to say. Listen, we would love to be wrong about all this- that sane voices have taken over and power to the people is more than a John Lennon song.
Regrettably, we are going to get more of the same crapola we've been getting served since, well, Woodrow Wilson. Yep, that's depressing, all right…
But a hearty Merry Christmas to you and yours and may God's bounty shine abundantly!
Obama cuts the deficit by trippling it, makes us safer by showing weakness, and fixes the environment by taxing us.
Yeah sounds like some real hopey changey stuff going on there.
You are completely disconnected if you think that the American people are going to suddenly start loving this guy, his ratings are stalled at near historic lows based on what he has TRIED to do.
With this ram it down your throat I hate america strategy watch them go nuch lower, this man will be the worst president in our history, and probably one of the most hated, that assumes we are left with one before we can boot him out of office
Scott,
I agree with the premise you present specifically in the "War on (insert name here)"… I'm not sure how these are Conservative issues since we can show from history that the larger proponents of these "wars" is Liberalism.
It has always been my understanding that true Conservatism is centered around the preservation of the strict interpretation and enforcement of the Constitution and that the current "war on" mentalities fall well within the Statist agendas.
Statists are defined as those who want to use and grow the power of the government for their own purposes (either "left" or "right"). Freedom lovers around the world recognize that either extreme allowed to grow in power inevitably leads to the suppression of the rights and liberties of people.
I have a better idea, let's end entitlements, reward success and make people accountable for themselves.
LORBEN says:

A 3rd party historically has split the vote, or at least made the traditional party lose seats without any gains for the so called 3rd party. There are exceptions but they rare.
Since a 3rd party would in general not be trusted by a lot of people they would vote traditional, in this case GOP, which would mean that you would hand even more seats over to the left since their base would not be split.
A better strategy IMO is to force the GOP to run canidates that we want with THREAT of running our candidates as independents if they don't comply, that means that we have to get involved in cacuses etc. and not just sit back and let the country club democrat lite types pick the candidates for us.
The tea party needs to be the vetting wing of the conservative/liberatarian movement, that would be effective at regaining control of our country. Similar to what you are proposing but without the historical baggage of a 3rd party structure.
Speaking of empty heads, how are you doing today, NibLr?
He has already diminished the power of both houses and continues to do so with his Czars, excutive decisions, EPA rulings, public company buy ups etc. which is all foreplay
I am convinced Obama wants to trash the economy to the point where he can declare an emergency and step in and just sieze power.
I think this is the reason that everythign must be done "Now", he is on a timeline, and he knows that the 2010 elections could be the end of the ride, watch for even more next year at an even more fevered pitch.

Conservatives in the US claim they believe in and wish protect personal freedoms, but unfortunately the majority of their actions are contrary to such beliefs. Conservatives here speak the language of intolerance, hate, and control.
Conservative politicians are notorious for their irresponsible spending and their war mentality.
Unfortunately, the so called "Liberals" in the US aren't much better, because they are now complicit with the conservatives in their immoral WAR ON HUMANITY.
Your "Republican" Governer just gave Barrack Obama an 'A' for his first year in office.
Everyone in Cali….Sit down and STFU.
It may just happen with redistricting after the census….
There is not enough difference between the Democrats and Republicans. Because, I live in very blue voting district, for the first time in my life I had the luxury of "voting my conscience," instead of voting for "the lesser of two evils." I voted for the Green Party candidate, not because I thought she would make a great president, but because I really agree with the Green Party agenda, and I wanted to send a message to the Democrats. I agree that Obama was a better choice than McCain, but only by a small margin. Both Democrats and Republicans have been ripping off the taxpayers, since way before I was born. The thing that worried me about Obama right from the beginning was his warlike and hawkish attitudes. We need to stop giving money to the military, and Obama never talked about that. I invite you to my website devoted to raising awareness on this puritan attack on freedom: http://pltcldscsn.blogspot.com/
479,520 minutes. 7992 hours. 333 days.
That's how long it's been since Barack Obama was sworn in as President. At the end of this first year, some progressives are feeling holiday blahs because we haven't won everything we wanted.
Don't.
Remember our hard battle at the start of the year over whether to direct our tax money toward creating jobs and stimulating the economy? Won that one. Here in my hometown construction workers are doubling the size of our overburdened community health clinic thanks to that stimulus money, and similar worthy projects across the country kept thousands of Americans working. ( support our work to rebuild and renew America's economy. )
How about the F-22 fighter jet? TrueMajority members have worked for years to end that wasteful project, and this July we won THAT one, freeing up $65 billion in Pentagon pork spending for more urgent needs. ( support our work for sensible budget priorities. )
Then there's healthcare. Progressives are still arguing over whether the current deal is good enough, and if there is a better strategy for winning more. But even the weakest deal under consideration, which already passed the Senate this weekend, will insure 30 million more people and outlaw insurance companies refusing coverage for pre-existing conditions. By any measure that's a victory for our side. ( support our work for quality, affordable health care for all. )
And yes, there is still a daunting amount to do.
A few days ago Rep. Alan Grayson of Florida read your petition opposing the escalation in Afghanistan on the floor of the U.S. House. Meanwhile we delivered the almost 100,000 signatures — including thousands of TrueMajority members — alongside veterans and other anti-war activists. (If you haven't already, check out the video of Rep. Grayson and some of the veterans we worked with saying 'THANKS' to TrueMajority/USAction members for their support.)
But our signatures alone aren't going to be enough. Progressive champions in the House are ready to oppose the $1 trillion cost of the escalation, but there simply aren't enough of them yet. We need your support to convince more members of Congress to demand an end to the war and a plan to bring everyone home. Donate now to make that possible.
In 333 days we've done some remarkable work, but we've also learned this year that the fight for change is a marathon, not a sprint.
Thanks again for a great year
-Ben, Chris, Darcy, Drew, Matt,
and the whole team at TrueMajority / USAction
You are an idiot. If we split the vote in 2010 between a Tea Party and Repubs, we ensure Democratic victory. If we don't retake the house or senate, we are doomed to slavery. Obama and gang will have plenty of years to collapse our society, and we won't even HAVE a chance to vote for a 3rd party. We have to reform the Republican party by voting politicians with integrity that believe in fiscal responsibility and limited gov't in the primary level, not splitting the vote with a 3rd party.

Ditto to that. RE: the billionaires; I believe they have already invested and the useful idiots in the white house and congress are busily dancing to the music.
R671 I do not wish to have to place a anceint gypsy curse on the next 5 generations of your family, but I will if you do not say you are sorry for implying the Mysterious NibbLr has an empty head. MERRY CHRISTMAS
Very well then. I sincerely apologize. Merry Christmas to you too, weirdo.
Behold, Isaiah 32, speaking about things changing when Christ returns, seems to speak of similar terms and symbols that are synonymous with modern time. The end also tells of a blessing of those who sow with both the ox and the ass (Republican/Democrats).
I do not think Jesus Christ would end entitlements. So I instead would focus on efficient distribution of entitlements – and a serious effort to empower the underprivileged to enter the sphere of productivity.
Besides the $12 trillion national debt (itself a nation-killer), the federal gov't now has over $105 TRILLION in unfunded mandates – Social Security, Medicare. There's simply no way to pay this bill….it's 7 times the size of the entire U.S. economy.
& Since the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 was passed (also on a partyline vote during the Christmas break) the Dollar has lost 92% of its value. It will now lose what's left through hyper-inflation designed to "shear" you sheeple to the bone.
The U.S. is finished. If you are so stupid as to remain in the U.S., you are headed into abject poverty and a police state dictatorship. The "smart money" like me left years ago.
- ex-patriot living the good life in Costa Rica, imune to Obama's fascist regime.
The U.S. is finished. If you are so stupid as to remain in the U.S., you are headed into abject poverty and a police state dictatorship
You know I pretty much agree with every thing you said, besides the quote above…. It's a shame intellegence doesn't necessarily come with empathy.
The economy of the southern states was driven by trading and selling cotton. The economy of the north was driven by the manufacturing, trading and selling textiles. The Europeans, also strong in the textile markets, offered the south more money for cotton than the northern states. The north was unwilling to match the Europeans prices and sought to put the south in it's place. As I understand it the north first placed embargoes on the southern states followed by blockades on the shipping lanes and ports.
It was then that the southern states elected to secede from the union. It wasn't until then that the north devised the scheme to ultimately cripple the southern economy as a means to reign them in. By taking away their slaves they would bring the south to it's knees. It wasn't about freeing slaves for the slaves sake. It was about forcing the south to capitulate.
I was first taken aback when I learned this as well. It is as we have heard. History has been written by the conquerors. Just look at what the Muslims "know" about the holocaust. History is subjective, unless of course you were actually there.
The judicial branch has to shoot it down based on it's constitutionality. The majority of the justices are activist judges but there may still be enough to at least get a hearing on the matter. I have no doubt there have already been a plethora of cases issued against the fed for numerous counts, the least of which would be fraud for failing to uphold the constitution.
What I don't understand is why there has been so little action on the local front to have these senators and representatives recalled on similar charges. These people who have voted contrary to the will of the people, or at least their constituents, should be charged with treason and imprisoned.

Both me and my boyfriend are under 30 and we are dedicated to a new Conservative Movement in America, a Second Revolution, if you will. I do know plenty of kids under 30 who are too uninformed, too uneducated and too complacent to give a $hit, however I also know just as many over 30 who are the same way. It's unfortunate all the way around. And what's more unfortunate is the grotesque liberal indoctrination happening at colleges and universities. So many of the professors are blatantly liberal and don't hide it during class and often teach a very skewed version of Government and History. It's disgusting. Kids entering college are being indoctrinated at such a young and impressionable age to think like a lib. They're being exposed to all the wrong information, being brainwashed, all the while being told they are "thinking for themselves." I agree wholeheartedly that too many are more interested in American Idol and the like but there are also many of us who are quietly building in numbers, waiting to make our move. I am afraid the greatest country in history is facing its toughest test. I hope we can pull through.
R593, You are sooo lucky I'm not in the mood for curs'in today. By the way, whats with your screen name? Are you just lacking creativity, or does R471 have some Meaning I am missing. Please let me know, I am so curious.
Do any of us know, personally, anyone that likes anything about the Republican Party?
Because if they do, I guarandamnteeyou that they are political hacks themselves, or know a political hack, or have money on the line with a political hack, or are sleeping with a political hack. Wrinkly old elephants or braying jackasses: trunks or lunks, I refuse to be stuck with the choices.
No third party. Time for a SECOND party.
Despite your insults many of us will not be coaxed or shamed into voting for the republican candidate simply because they are republican. Do you not understand that if we do not vote for the best candidate from the beginning we cannot possibly hope to watch the best candidate win. I refuse to be forced to vote for the lesser of the two evils based on electability and which candidate appeals to the largest number of voters. I, for one, will vote my conscience and will support the candidate whose ideals and character best match those I want in a president or representative. We cannot afford to continue to elect bored power hungry millionaires to run this nation. I will take Joe the plumber any day of the week and twice on Sunday over a social elite bureaucrat bent on seeing their own will done.
The very reason the republican party has leaned so far left is because of people like you who demand party loyalty as a means to maintain some imaginary balance. Meanwhile our whole nation and society continues to lean as far left as our loyalty will allow. The republican party, rife with moderates, will be the ones nominating and backing the candidates THEY want. Do you actually expect us to back whomever they say simply because that's the only way to keep the democrats from winning? By voting for the republican out of party loyalty or for some vain hope of beating the democrat candidate you are playing into their hands. You are allowing them to manipulate you and your vote.
Making the Billionaires pay more is one option to be sure. Guys like George Soros need to be bled dry or the will take over the nation. One question though. How much is "some" cuts? Enough to cover the expense of the new health care entitlement reform program? Enough to lower our taxes enough to cover our new mandatory health insurance coverage?
We could make some serious cuts in entitlement spending just by testing benefits recipients for drugs. Similarly we could save hundreds of millions by dropping non-citizens from those entitlement programs.
I saw someone buy coke and potato chips on food stamps. That practice should be prohibited.
Well, mysteriousNibLr, I am so happy to hear that you aren't in a mood for "curs'in". As for my screen name, if I were going to tell someone what it meant, if anything at all, it sure as hell wouldn't be you so you just keep on wondering. How about that?
'As for my screen name, if I were going to tell someone what it meant, if anything at all, it sure as hell wouldn't be you so you just keep on wondering. How about that?' R482, couldn't come up with anything could you? Oh well. Maybe you should ask for screen name ideas. There are lots of intelligent people, such as myself, who read these comments, I am sure one of us can come up with a snappy, classy, zip-pity do da name for you. In fact, how about it people? WOULD YOU ALL LIKE TO HELP COME UP WITH A DECENT ORIGANAL SCREENNAME FOR R613? It would be like a Christmas gift, might cheer the kid up a bit. Heck, you just never know maybe having a decent name would give R863 the confidence to start getting ideas and stuff, maybe even ask that special someone out for ice cream. HANG IN THERE R253! WE WON'T GIVE UP!

Why don't you leave R723 alone Ms. Mysterious N!pple$. You are just jealous that R723 is a well respected member of this discussion forum and you are not. And by the way, you are wrong about how many of the youth have their heads up their @$$es. All of the youth have their heads up their @$$es.
And calling yourself intelligent is like saying that George Bush is black. We all know that he isn't black, and we all know that you are NOT intelligent.
Buddy I think it just might be past your nap time. Go get your blankey, cuddle up with it and have a little rest. After you wake up and take your meds we can talk again, okay?
Thank you for your service to our country and I wish you the best this election season, Mr. DeVore. You have my vote and I'll try to promote your good name. My whole life in CA has been under the rule of B. Boxer. Give her hell!
What do you want to do with the illegals? As a Christian, I hope you have some empathy for their welfare.
Agree completely. Add to that we are running out of time. Turn the GOP into the Tea Party.
All right Joan, it could be done that way too, although killing an elephant may prove to be very difficult.
Dibs on one of the feet – I need a base for a coffee table
It may be too late – do nto put it past you this Congress and Obama will not change the laws to where he can be persident for life… Laugh now !!!! If enough people vote for it ……
I'm hoping the 2010 2011 & 2012 version of the President is an improvement on the rookie we had this year.
"The central truth about the Civil War is that it was not simply a conflict between North and South; it was a conflict between the Southern states and the federal government. The federal government won, and the Feds have been winning ever since." That is John Avery Emison's bold and controversial premise in Lincoln Uber Alles: Dictatorship Comes to America, which "takes almost everything you learned in school about the Civil War and turns it right-side up." Debunking the myth that the Civil War was a war for racial justice, Emison reveals that it was actually a battle over the economic disparities between the North and the South. By examining Supreme Court findings, he demonstrates not only that the Southern states were well within their rights to withdraw from the Union in 1860, but also that secession is still legal today. And, by illustrating how Abraham Lincoln's tyrannical presidency paved the way for today's bloated "Leviathan" government, Emison brings his subject into the twenty-first century and puts forth his fear for the future.

How about amnesty for illegals and voter registration by telephone coming to the Central Committee, formally the US Congress in 2010. I must stop reading Big government and drinking coffee, my head hurts.
Does anyone remember the Reform Party? We tried the third party route and it didn't work. I'm not getting suckered in to that again.
Jesus would never be for entitlements. That is what the church should be doing not the government, but we gave it up when your dearly beloved LBJ brought in the Great Society and we all know what a success that wasn't….Government never will have the compassion the church has…and we still give in a mighty way.
What part of "Thou shalt not steal" don't you understand?
We support you Chuck! Boxer's out in 2010.
I would like to point out that you wonderful conservatives inherited a surplus from Clinton. Very good job with that.
Regan blew up the deficit. I'm old enough to remember that. Clinton gave you guys a surplus. Again, very good job with that.
What is Chuck going to do differently?
We are already socialists now. Are you happy yet?
Who are you planing to vote for and in which state?
If you are in Florida please support wwwmarshallderosa.com for US Senate
