Is There A Union For Sore Losers?
by Capitol ConfidentialToday, the national flight attendants’ union released its latest attack on Delta airlines, filing a lawsuit on behalf of a group of disgruntled former Northwest Airlines flight attendants now working for Delta after the two airlines merged. The Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) claims that the air giant did not include the former Northwest employees fully in its profit-sharing plan because they were unionized before the merger.
Of the charges, AFA President Veda Shook says, “Delta is punishing Northwest Flight Attendants for their long history of collective bargaining. Delta management’s actions are shameful and undemocratic.”
This frivolous lawsuit is only the latest AFA attack on Delta. After the merger with Northwest all Delta flight attendants – including those formerly unionized under Northwest – held an election to decide whether to join the union, and voted to remain non-unionized. The AFA immediately launched multiple election interference charges, which have not been found valid.
Apparently, the AFA only cares about preserving democracy when the election goes their way.
The AFA’s actions are perfectly in line with the push by national labor unions and the Obama Administration to circumvent votes they can’t win, all in the name of fairness and equality. A National Review op-ed details the administration’s desperation to prevent the erosion of labor unions in the face of increasing state-level pressure, by hook or by crook. The Employee “Free” Choice Act (EFCA) fails in Congress? No problem, they’ll just push private-sector unionization through the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) instead. Congress won’t force employers to post unionizing notices in the workplace? No sweat, NLRB head Craig Becker announces the National Labor Relations Act requiring all employers to post the notices. The House or Senate would never consider forcibly unionizing railroad or airline workers, not a worry. The National Mediation Board (NMB) overturns nearly a century of labor policy and throws out the window rules requiring a majority of the workforce to vote in favor of a collective bargaining unit.
The AFA and NMB can claim that they’re doing it all for the little guy, but the little guys elected the representatives that voted these measures down or would never seriously consider them. Instead it seems like they’re in this to fill Democratic campaign coffers, and are willing to do it by any means necessary.

Do we need any more evidence that unions are greedy, moochers, out for themselves only and the enemies of America?
SEIU, NEA, AFL-CIO…Public, Private – it really doesn’t matter. They are fundamentally all Marxists.
As their money dries up, they get more radical.
Look at any struggling business model.
Look at every failed business.
American Railroads.
American Steel.
American Education.
Usually, there is a UNION in the mix.
Recipes for disaster and failure.
“Delta is punishing Northwest Flight Attendants for their long history of collective bargaining. Delta management’s actions are shameful and undemocratic.”
What does "democratic" have to do with union goons wrenching the "arm" of a private business through intimidation and thug tactics?
Unions have destroyed any industry they are involved in.
The airline industry, with it's lethal mix of both union and government interference has almost always struggled.
The unions are killing the post office.
Unions killed the US auto industry.
I'm sure there are others, but my point is this: unions can only destroy.
"Union children", who have no skin in the game, cannot be allowed to dictate policy to the owners.
If you don't like your pay or benefits, get another job.
Good luck with that.
This is the behind the scenes handiwork of Cass Sunstein, pulling strings and levers in the background
showing the greedy how to go about having their cake and eat it too.
Someone needs to get busy investigating him, he's trouble for our REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC.
Find some dirt, and shine some light on this creep, before he completely usurps CONgress and the courts
role in our system.
WAKE UP!!!
.
The merger of unions an Government is what Hitler did to control the masses………
That;s OK not to worry.
The more the Union Thugs do to molest the rights of the union workers who DONT WANT A UNION the harder they will fall later.
The push against the communist bustards is on and they will lose…one baby step at a time until the giant falls with an earthquake like thud…a little stone buried deep in his forehead.
He means they are UN-Democrat…
At this point, all in business are just trying to STAY in business. In times of crisis, those who are not team players, should be fired.
There are MANY unemployed, with good attitudes, who would relish an airline jobs or ANY other job, for that matter.
If Delta doesn't want to unionize, so be it. The flight attendants just want to take home that part of their paycheck which would be forcibly taken by union management for its own personal use.
One should never hire a Union Member…. past, present, or future Union Member.
It's amazing how many Americans think business' are in business to hire others and provide them with benefits.
Employees MUST, as a matter of course, see to it that the "golden goose" ( the business ), remains viable and healthy.
And conversely, smart employers know how to motivate and keep, good employees.
Union Meeting min…
We need more Money and Power. How are going to do that ? Unionizing every body that works for Delta !
Unions, like the rest of the Left, distort and twist language to generate appeal of their Marxist ideology.
"Democratic" is twisted from "majority rule" to "Union rule"
"Freedom" is twisted from "Freedom from government coercion" to FDR's "freedom from want'
"Rights" are twisted from those few "inalienable" rights recognized in the DOC to Obamacare, Collective Bargaining, Lifetime pensions paid by others, and the right to retire at age 50.
All unions do is skew the free market to the eventual detriment of all. They prevent an employer from freely dealing with individual employees and should never have been allowed in our Republic in the first place.
I worked as an R&D Scientist for 20 years in a company that eventually shut down it's US operation because when the market changed they couldn't get ANY concessions from the union to make the adjustments needed to stay competitive. The union people thought it was all a bluff and that the company was lying about their declining profitability. "They have money," was what the workers kept saying. Even when the plant shut down they were sure it was just a continuation of the bluff, that it would be reopening again soon and they'd all get their jobs back. That was 12 years ago.
"This frivolous lawsuit is only the latest AFA attack on Delta."
Frivolous lawsuits are frequently successful. We have many frivolous judges and juries are composed of people with nothing better to do that day.
I posted this last night under the guy from Oh ranting about how Stalin hated unions etc. But I'll post it here as well Because a lot of union workers still are not awake as to what is REALLY going on with their unions. Once you're at the book do an in book search on stalin.

"if the communist parties wish to become a real mass force capable of advancing the revolution, they must link up with the trade unions and rely upon them for support"
Joseph Stalin May 9th 1925
That's almost the declared purpose of a union. A union exists, first and foremost, to reduce the size of the labor pool from which employers can hire, thus forcing up the wage their members can demand through simple supply-and-demand pressures. That's why unions are routinely hostile toward new applicants for membership.
When extortion is the tactic, exclusion is perforce the strategy — and ill-gotten gains are the ultimate objective.
Yeah there is a union for sore losers, it is called the Democrat party.
There is nothing more disgusting than a public union sympathizer. No more collective bargaining, No more benefits, No more healthcare, No more raises, and you will thank us (taxpayers) for your job.
You will sit in the corner, shut your mouth and think about your behavior. In 30 minutes I will return to see if your attitude has changed.
Delta is great company, and can withstand Craig Becker and his Marxist horde. They’ve voted several times and have lost each vote decidedly.
All unions are losers an thugs, an there members are duped into paying those union bosses large amounts of money ,
The former NW employees should just be thankful Delta kept them on the payroll.
The Northwest Flight Attendants and their AFA Union lost a completely fair and unbiased election, but they just won’t let it go. They are still grabbing at straws in a feeble attempt to convince the NMB to allow another election. Although they lost fair and square, the AFA members (formerly NWA’s FA’s) want their cake and eat it too. They want to work under their Union contract, yet they want to cherry pick the non contract items like profit sharing too. Because the AFA members insist on working under their Union contract, they are costing Delta millions of dollars by not allowing the merger of the two FA groups.
Furthermore, the Northwest FA’s with their AFA union were the lowest compensated FA group among the major airlines, followed by Delta FA’s. Why would the DAL FA group elect a costly representative union who has clearly demonstrated a lack of resolve in negotiating an industry leading or even an industry standard contract? I have one correction for this author who said: “The National Mediation Board (NMB) overturns nearly a century of labor policy and throws out the window rules requiring a majority of the workforce to vote in favor of a collective bargaining unit.” This statement is incorrect and possibly just a mistake from the author. The rule has now been changed to make it much easier to elect union representation so that now all it takes is a simple majority.
Unions can only survive by forcing people to join. That should tell you all you need to know.
When the airlines go broke and everyone loses their jobs, they can thank the Unions. It shows the Unions care nothing about their members.
Understandably, many people who are not in a union are union bashers and haters. I'm not in favor of this AFA union, but your statement is very misguided and incorrect. The Northwest FA’s with their AFA union were the lowest compensated FA group among the major airlines, followed by Delta's non-unionized FA’s. One can hardly contribute the airline's financial woes to the lowest compensated FA's in the industry. That is just more union bashing rhetoric without any merit.
Nope. That's plenty of evidence right there! I agree………Dry up their money source!
To me, the solution is quite simple. First of all, we’re not broke. This country is not broke. The state of Wisconsin is not broke. There’s a ton of cash in this country, trillions of dollars of it.
And all the left wants to do is steal it.
That's what they are about.
Right. and when you combine the deleterious effect that Unions have on US with the outright sabotage of this Administration, we have to remove both of them. The "Fundamental Transformation of America" has gone too far. WE the People will decide.
True. The members are not all in favor of their union dues going to the socialist Democrats either.
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
The Unions have morphed into an arm of the Socialist Democrat Party. We all know that's got to be
disbanded. Not all members of the Unions are Democrats, however they may reap the benefits of Union jobs.
We have to un-link the two. We can't have Union Bosses staging violent protests, using children and
strangers, and then funneling their member's dues money to Obama and his Democrat supporters. Obama
hasn't acted like a pro American president to me. He is always on the wrong side of American freedom. When
a President talks more frequently to Union Bosses than he does to any Republican in Congress , for over
TWO years, there is a huge problem with our President !
Old enough to remember afternoon newspapers? How about several dailies in each of a hundred American cities? I was a kid when the last of these breeds were getting killed off by union greed. At paper after paper, the piglets refused to believe the money just wasn't there anymore for increasingly lavish pay and benefit concessions from management. So they went on strike, typically for months on end. Owners who couldn't get their papers printed or distributed – the printers and delivery drivers almost always walked out in "solidarity" with striking employees, regardless of whether they themselves were actually on strike – had to suspend publication. In the days before the Internet, a newspaper that couldn't publish was a lot like a supermarket that doesn't stock food: Just as Mom won't pay for produce she can't take home, advertisers don't pay when their ads aren't in the paper. It usually took a publisher only a few months to throw in the towel and fold the paper. One after another, these newspapers died. Many had been published continuously for decades – or centuries.
Perversely for the unions, this meant a steadily dwindling number of newspaper jobs. As a consequence, a lot of these striking employees never again worked as printers, or compositors, or reporters, or advertising salespeople.
Yes BHO is the worst president in US history.
Bingo we have a winner!
Gentle Readers,
Dear CL,
Yet, SOUTHWEST AIRLINES is very successful, and a Union Shop! Unions can represent their members well, if that is the priority.
Sincerely,
John Lepant
Gentle Readers,
Dear Kit,
Stalin abolished all independent unions, and only allowed unions controlled directly by the COMMUNIST PARTY.
Sincerely,
John Lepant
Yes, there's a union for sore losers. It is called the Democratic Party.
Maybe we should allow some Korean or Chinese airlines to fly US dommestic routes. They all seem to be doing well. Maybe our domestic airlines could learn something. Competition rules.
Let's see. Company senior executives have contracts so they don't need a union – it's all worked out before they start their new position – it's like having a union. Pilots belong to a union; Police and Fire Fighters belong to unions; the teachers/professor's that teach your kids belong to unions.. Oh, I like Baseball and Football … yeah, they belong to unions too. Buy the flight attendants don't need a union and are the cause of the airlines problems …. right? I agree, these union people should go find jobs somewhere else. We don't need them! Oh…but try to live without them. No one ever said the union is a "Savior." Most people don't understand nor care that the DL flight attendants took a 43% pay cut. But wait, the companies that we purchase goods from and the services we use do care. 43% is a lot of cash to take away. All some of us want is a little protection and someone to speak on our behalf. Nothing in life is free. If the union leadership is looking to get rich, I'd suggest that there is a better way to do so. So to those that voted for a union… Good on you! For those that didn't, you win (for now). Just be careful of what you ask for no matter what it is.
SirPig, 'Zat you?
