Earmark Lobbyist to Be GOP Staff Director on Appropriations Committee?
by Capitol ConfidentialThere is an old saying around Congress – there are Republicans, Democrats and Appropriators. With Republicans promising to reign in the federal government, the first order of business is to change the culture of the Appropriations Committee which has been the fueled the spending beast for decades.
The Republican leadership will decide on the next chairman of the Committee in a few days. The leading contenders are Jerry Lewis (R-CA), Hal Rogers (R-KY) and Jack Kingston (R-GA). Word on the street is that Rogers will select Bill Inglee as the Committee Staff Director should he get the job.
Who is Bill Inglee?
Inglee is the classic RINO who ran the Wednesday Group – the meeting of the liberal Republicans on the Hill. He went on the serve as a lobbyist for Lockeed Martin where he pushed for defense earmarks for the company.
To secure earmarks Inglee gave political contributions to leading Democrats include Jack Murtha (D-PA) and Dan Inouye (D-HI). In short, Inglee is not only a RINO, he is an appropriator through and through.
The time has come to reform and limit the appropriations process. The last thing conservatives need is an earmarking RINO running to committee.
Say No to Hal Rogers and Bill Inglee.

They are all beginning to look like RINOS and no different than the corrupt Damnocrats.
Did they not get the message we sent on Nov. 2 ? One word sums up what we think of business as usual,
S T O P
Boehner….you better straighten this up or you'll be history. We expect a new way of serving the people, and it doesn't include back room deals and lobbyists. Listening?
Yet again a local politician has been arrested by the FBI. They expended tens of thousands of dollars investigating, wire tapping, detecting, all the rest. He pleads guilty.
Yet, right out in the open, The US Congress practices bribery with borrowed tax dollars and the FBI cannot arrest anyone.
Anyone see how nuts this all is?
Republicans are a joke. Wait til they help pass this latest bundle of bills, extending unemployment insurance etc.

Don't say no, say H E DOUBLE L NO!
Republicans will help extend the debt ceiling yet again, so they can pay for an undeclared war and unemployment insurance, …
The welfare warfare state as the Republicans love it.
does it feel like you're gittin' a prostate exam an' you ain't at the doctors office???
thank you congress may I have another…
Why not extend unemployment, they are still extending SS, Medicare, defense bill, EARMARKS, the TIA, federal pay, federal hiring, federal raises, pay to congress, food stamps, foreclosures, QE3 for the banks, EU pension and unemployment bailouts, you name it and they are extending it, everything under the sun–now we want them to make a stand with unemployment and foreclosures??
Out here in Destitute California the Republican Party "leadership" is loaded with RHINOS.
And what has that provided in the end … a bankrupt Welfare Wonderland.
If that the "new" model for the RNC, load up weak with kneed RHINO sycophants, we are in for a dire future.
It is time to flush the RNC toilet and renew the Party leadership with strong willed, Constitution wielding patriots that actually have spines.
"But that's the way it is done in Washington" is no longer an acceptable excuse.
It's time the Repubs look for new staffing, the same old staff ain't working out well.
Where we have to direct our attention is the Republican Steering Committee. They are the ones currently choosing the future of the Republican Party. FreedomWorks has a list of names and phone numbers for the Steering Committee. If you feel like you have a dog in this race, it's time to make some phone calls.

The establishment old boys club did not get the message that is why in 2012 we must continue to clean out the residual vermin in congress. When dealing with cockroaches, one has to fumigate several times to get rid of the pests. Come on 2012. Much more disinfecting is needed.
Maybe we will get some help from the new group of conservatives recently elected. Watch carefully. If they go over to the darkside, throw them out.
Sadly they think the republican party won, but the truth is the Dems lost and we had no other choice as there are only 2 viable parties.
Maybe it's time to start with a 3 rd party setting the structure in place and getting good candidates ready.
This is small potatoes. Apparently the WH is making grab for transfer authority on appropriations, who needs Congress? http://hotair.com/archives/2010/12/03/wh-wants-tr... THIS must be stopped.
Way off topic, but what in hell is obowmao doing traveling off to Afghanistan? Doesn't he know his party is trying desperately to wreck the country in this lame duck session?
Oh boy, moveon is just NOT going to be happy with their messiah now. I can't wait to see their next ad calling him a "war-monger." Hahaha
What part of NO don't they understand? Oh, that's right: They have a Mandate!
"Gee Doc, do you have go all the way to the Elbow? Moon River…."
I wish we had more time….
The sad truth is that we have less than two years……
Republicans can be replaced just as easy as the Democrats were.
The rules have changed, the Citizens are taking the Nation back from now on.
If they go over to the darkside, It's all over…
It won't matter, they are outta everyone elses money, and almost maxed the chinese credit card out.
Let the forces continue to work, and Washington will assume the position of something like England or France.
No money, no power to force and coerce.
I want them to make a stand on anything, anything. Repeal rather than pass, cut rather than tax or borrow.
Anything.
I listened in on a TP conference call with many of these Rs up for committee leadership and then I visited some of their websites,. The websites never matched the talking points on the CCs, not even close. Try it out, I think you may find it revealing.
Yeah, right. Like that's EVER worked. Good luck and count me out.
Off topic, but an update on Obama care.
District Court Judge Norman Moon's ruling on our lawsuit against the ObamaCare healthcare "reform" law has propelled our case forward to the court of appeals level faster than any of the other lawsuits against this unconstitutional legislation.
And what initially appeared to be an adverse ruling at this first level of the federal judicial process actually gave us several advantages as the case goes forward!
On the plus side of his ruling, Judge Moon found that our corporate plaintiff, Liberty University, and two private individual plaintiffs, had standing to bring this lawsuit against ObamaCare. He also ruled that there was no bar to bringing the suit, as the government had argued.
''A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus." Martin Luther King, Jr.
You got that right. This is the last chance for America. We either succeed of fall. It all depends on the choices we just made. If we chose poorly, we won't get another chance. If, we chose wisely, there may still be hope.
I hope you are right OldmanRick … but how do we throw out Republican Party leadership?
The California Republican Party gave up on us long ago. In elections over the last decade or so there were some really strong Conservative candidates that were totally ignored by the Party in lieu of of "electable" RHINOS like Whitman and Fiorina.
And what did that get us?
Malleable Leftist Governor Girlie Man was a complete disaster …. and now we have … uggh, I'm going to be sick!
They basically say, "A RHINO is better than a Democrat" …. UNACCEPTABLE !
Excellent news…!!
Thanks for the update…
"Word on the street is that Rogers will select Bill Inglee as the Committee Staff Director should he get the job."
This is insane!
I told everyone 2010 was just pre-positioning before the REAL war broke out…
2012 will be the REAL BATTLE…and now you all are aware of the players…and watch for the new ones over the next few…
Make you lists and check them thrice…2012 is coming, to a voting booth near you…
Political DEATH to the tyrants…!!!
I want MY MONEY back…!!!!
we knew this was coming so no news here. Its going to require true diligence on the part of the majority electorate to change the culture within the GOP. If we stick to our guns and not fall back into the apathetic trace we have escaped we will have made this subjective BS a thing of the past. We owe it to our founders as well as our descendants.
Homework done for ya'all …. Visit all of their websites, it doesn't take much effort to cull out the RINO–Lewis.
Kingston is King Conservative IMO.
http://jerrylewis.house.gov/showpage.asp?ID=269 Big Government CA RINO , No to Jerry Lewis is a no-brainer
http://halrogers.house.gov/Issues/Issue/?IssueID=... Looks like he maybe a "conservative"–a big government solution conservative, at least he likes coal. Not really that much info on the site, as far as what he has been spending our money on.
Jack Kingston (R-GA) http://kingston.house.gov/Issues/Issue/?IssueID=1... This is the one I would vote for, at least he addresses Fiscal Responsibility–seems like a true conservative except for some big government "investment" ideas on clean energy. The most informative website IMO.
Typical of the left wing socialists and their quest for entitlements…….paid for by someone else!

I wouldn't know where to look for the conference calls, but if you're referring to the burgeoning numbers in the "tea party caucus," I'm not surprised there'd be a lot of BS flying around. I see this in two ways. One is that the old guard RINOs are trying to claim they're really Tea Party types. But on the other hand, it would seem these same RINOs know their ass is toast if they don't align themselves with the Tea Party agenda.
There is no neat and clean way to assess what's going on in the Repub Party. But you can bet that it's at least better than the last ten years or so.
I'm not asking for a third party…
We'll be lucky if we can get the Republican part back, with what little time we've got left…
What I've seen so far, is not very encouraging…
Here comes the horse-trading, Patriots. Wanna bet they slip in all kinds of pork to get the tax cuts extended. If i don't hear some opposition to this soon it looks like we'll have even more work to do come 2012. These weasels are setting up shop again as if there wasn't a mandate by the People as a result of the mid-terms.
When it comes to politics, almost all the news is a mixed bag. I'm guessing you're kind of "glass is half empty" person. Nothing wrong with that…it keeps the rest of us grounded.
Actually, my response was directed to Gary…but that's good to know. I don't know who thumbed you, but I'm putting it back.
Tea Party Patriots has teleconferences with them, you can listen or ask questions but I think their websites are a better indicator. Anybody can join the TPP.
Explain to me how that's going to work. You've got right and wrong. What's the 3rd choice? Moral ambiguity? Who's going to vote for that? You'll just end up with 3 corrupt parties instead of two. I fail to see how that improves our position. Israel and Britain have that system. It doesn't appear to be working too well for either of them. What makes you think we'd fare any better? Are we special in some magical way that I'm unaware of?
"Prepare for the worst, while you hope for the best"
This not the time to be all full of ourselves…
I don't know if the Republicans are going to move back to the right. They sound like they don't care, don't get it or both.
I don't think people realise how much peril they're in…
Right now, I wouldn't bet what little money I have left on it…
I think Soros's Republican Shadow party is bigger than we thought…
Soros is behind the move to start a third party…
It will split the Conservative vote forever…
Anything lol, I just about agree, just that unemployment seems like a stupid place to start. Earmarks get thru and make a stand on unemployment and taxes above 1M just isn't were I would be concentrating. We need BIG stuff cut, as in whole departments. Why force people out in the streets while allowing the banks and EU to be bailed out is crazy.
I have a question. It is my understanding that banning earmarks will have no impact on the amount the Government spends. All they do is define the use of money that has already been appropriated by the Appropriations Committee after which individual elected politicians point some of the funds be spent on individual projects. If earmarks are eliminated then either some unknown bureaucrat will have free rain to decide where the money is spent.
So here is the question. Is this the way it works? If so, is it better or worse than earmarks?
Many derided my position for the Tea Parties to go their own way.
You laughed at me when I said staying in the GOP was tantamount to being the floor mat and scapegoat of the Republican progressive movement.
They were all real big on those principles when they wanted our votes, our organization and our money.
But we gave them our votes, our money and our organization and they have now taken that as a tacit endorsement of THEIR leadership rather than being custodians of OUR principles.
There will be no reconciliation.
There will be no peace.
There will be the Tea Parties, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party.
When they have to deal with us in the halls of Congress to pass their corruptions it will be a lot different than from telling our representatives that the Tea Parties have to tow the GOP line.
"…how do we throw out Republican Party leadership?"
We have to start at the local level: school boards, local organizations and proceed to the hamlet, town, city, county, and state level to clean out the vermin. It will be long and difficult battle. But there we have to start.
"A RHINO is better than a Democrat" …. UNACCEPTABLE!"
Absolutely correct. A rino is worse than a dim. Rinos function under false pretenses. At least, or so it seems, most dims are open about their political leanings.
The point is that the govt is to involved every where. The govt should not be bailing any one or any business out. Unemployment is form of a bail out just like the ones that have been given to banks, car companies, insurance companies, the states, etc…… When the govt picks winners and losers the tax payers becomes the real losers.
You can bet your bottom dollar that the GOP "leadership" is already taking aside the tea party winners and telling them, "Do it OUR way, or else!" Here's hoping that those we elected are bold enough and brave enough to tell the "leadership" to go pound sand and refuse to compromise their principles.
Had to scratch my head at part of his speech over there…Can anyone tell me what 'holiday' is 8 days after Thanksgiving and 3 weeks before Christmas? 'Cause BO told the troops over there that he wanted to show them that 'this holiday' they had his support and the support of the American people- or some such.
It's also obvious BO has no clue about a soldier's life. He's over there speecifying at 10:45pm…and he was just getting warmed up at that time. Does he really not realize those men and women have to get up at O dark:thirty?
What's that sound I hear? Why, it's the sound of the Republican establishment hammering another nail into its own coffin!
I prefer the rod over the staff……………..you know, the wooden stick they talk about in Proverbs, used to hit a child and generate pain.
There's no money left…………….it's all "change" now.
I'd tell them i want my change back, but I'm sure they'd think you said "chains" back.
The government shouldn't have bailed out anyone or any business–but they did and still are.
No political or economical reason to start with unemployed Americans, so many better places to start that the list is overwhelming. This isn't about morality this is about cutting where it will get the largest chunks FIRST. I can think of hundreds of things that I would cut before unemployment, many of which would create more unemployment. I think i would start with the EPA.
That my friend is a scary thought, but you're probably right.
What benefit does unemployment serve? Each and every business and employee pays into this fund, but the dirty little secret is that not enough is collected to cover those that are drawing unemployment so where is the additional money coming from? With the current way that unemployment is set up most people are able to continue living as they were when they were employed, where is the incentive to go looking for a job? There are a lot of people out there that will draw unemployment for as long as they can and only search for a job when it runs out.
I agree that there are many areas that need to be cut, but can not only focus on the areas that we can cut large amounts of spending. We are in a time where we need to cut every where.
Here's an article on the subject by James M Inhofe:
http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/253159/elimi...
"Americans — especially conservatives — are being taken with a fiscal sleight of hand. Rightly concerned about the future of our country and the out-of-control spending taking place in Washington, these concerned citizens are being duped by the earmark debate. Getting rid of earmarks does not save taxpayers any money, reduces transparency, and gives more power to the Obama administration."
According to James M Inhofe eliminating earmarks won't solve anything:
http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/253159/elimi...
"Americans — especially conservatives — are being taken with a fiscal sleight of hand. I trust American citizens for the most part they want to work–they had a job or they would not be getting unemployment to start with. I do not trust much of anything the government says or pays for.
The additional money comes from working Americans and it isn't our their fault that the government has mismanaged the money just like they have mismanaged everything else they touch.
The website YouCut has had dozens of cuts and I don't think even one of them has been cut–it would be crazy to cut unemployment, why not cut welfare and food stamps for people that have been on them for 90 weeks first or at least cut them at the same time–that should forgo the death panels for the rest of us for a time
anyway.
Guess I was a bit too sly. I actually understand this very well and every single conservative I talk to also knows this. Even Boehner has talked about this publicly. I don't think it is conservatives who are being duped. At least I don't accept anyone as a conservative if they are not well versed on the workings and rules of Congress. I don't have a label for the uninformed right.
The only thing these idiots of both parties will understand is when they start turning up floating in the river. They ALL think we are morons. They really do. They know there is nothing we can do to stop them short of a revolution. And NO the Republicans did not get it. The rode on the backs of our work and now in power they will piss in our Punch bowl. What choice do we have but reelect the Marxists. Time to rise up people.

Just to be cute..first paragraph, is it "rein in" or "reign in"? Could go either way…
From what I understand, earmarks are the only way that Congress can direct spending; while pork projects are earmarks not all earmarks are pork. There are legimate areas in which tax payer money should be spent, but without Congress earmarking, how the money is spent is left up to the political appointees and bureaucrats in the departments.
If the GOP will NOT follow the will of the People, Common Sense & the Constitution, I will vote Libertarian. It would be easier to fight for Liberty after the Republic collapses than fight the traitorous RULING CLASS.
