Eyewitness: On the Ground With the Tim Burns Campaign in Pennsylvania
by Capitol ConfidentialThe conservative, grassroots movement has successfully shown that gerrymandered congressional districts and state boundaries no longer limit citizen involvement in any campaign regardless of where you live. In 2010, all politics are still local, but every campaign in the country is now local, as well. This has never been more evident than in the Pennsylvania 12th Congressional District this weekend.

My business partner and I received a call on Friday May 14, 2010 providing us an opportunity to spend the weekend in Pennsylvania as part of the ground team of the Tim Burns campaign. We both have extensive military backgrounds, so the trip could only have been made better if we had been allowed to parachute into PA12, unfortunately Southwest Airlines wouldn’t play along.
We arrived in Washington, PA around 2:00 AM Saturday morning and after a few hours of much needed sleep we made our way to the Burns Campaign headquarters. Within moments of arriving we had our instructions and began loading the GPS with polling places in Fayette County, PA, some of which were fact and some fiction. We spent the majority of the day searching out these obscure, out of the way polling places and reporting the results back to the Burn’s headquarters. It would seem someone didn’t want us to know where to go to vote.
It is important to note that we were joined by people from New Jersey, Illinois, Montana, Indiana, and Massachusetts. Does this happen often? We don’t think so.
With our first mission behind us we decided to visit the local Mark Critz Campaign Headquarters and found very little in the way of political activity, so we turned our attention to Tim Burns Republican opponent in the Pennsylvania primary. We gained a tremendous amount of information about this historical race for the seat of the late Rep. John Murtha. This coming Tuesday will bring a Special Election to fill the seat of John Murtha until the November election and the primary to determine the permanent replacement. For those who like to vote for the same candidate twice this would be a once in a lifetime opportunity to do this legally!
Mark Critz is the unopposed Democrat nominee for the November Election, while Tim Burn’s has been selected by the Republican Party to run in the Special Election and is simultaneously running against Bill Russell for the Republican position in the General Election in November. Russell is not involved in the special election.
What makes all of this extremely interesting is that Bill Russell has been quoted at PA2010.com as follows: ““I still think I am the best candidate to take over in the 12th,” Russell said. “So I’m going to vote for myself as a write-in.”
It has been conveyed to us by constituents in his district that Mr. Russell is pushing the write-in concept with his supporters. This approach is contrary to the views of all conservatives, and displays a divide-and-conquer mentality. Our best advice to Mr. Russell is “Don’t Tread on Us”, as the grassroots conservatives that support his campaign are not going to respond well to his campaign when he trips up his a fellow Republican in a time when the larger goal is to put our government back on course. The best advice we could offer Mr. Russell would be to drop his personal agenda where the special election is concerned and run a conservative campaign in the Primary. The write-in approach looks very similar to an Alinsky tactic aimed at a fellow Republican.
So here is an idea. Let’s concentrate all of our efforts on winning PA-12, which has been in Democrat hands for as long as I have been alive. Tim Burns won’t work with Nancy Pelosi and his opponent, Mark Critz will work with Nancy Pelosi. Surely, we can agree that Tim Burns should win this election. If we can’t our country is in great peril and may God have mercy on our Republic!

Mr. Russell's strategy puts his own interest above what is best for the country. At the end of the day he comes off as nothing more then a self serving politician
It's a hotbed, for sure. You can add Ohio to the list of states assissting Tim Burns. I was at a certain OH (R) congressman's headquarters last week making calls to PA-12. Let's just say the callers I did speak to were being INUNDATED with calls on behalf of Tim Burns. We're going to take our country back, one congressperson at a time, state by state! Barry's socialist agenda…be damned!!
Bill Russell seems to have taken a page from Obama, it's the type of thing that got him to the Senate.
We have an election tomorrow. Some notes:
1. 80% of voting machines in the nation are owned by one company, owned by the "Urosevich" brothers.
Bob and Todd founded ES&Ss originator, Data Mark. http://www.onlinejournal.com/evoting/042804Landes...
Todd Urosevich famously said he'd do "everything possible" to get his favored politician elected. (But don't think he couldn't turn on those favored parties.)
These machines leave no paper trail, they could steal elections easily. How could you know, when you have a computer hiding all that information internally (I'm a computer scientist, and I know what computers are capable of doing.)
2. No one checks the voting lists nationally for legal immigrants or illegal aliens. The laws prevent everyone from knowing this basic information about voters, and there is NO known checks in places like the Pennsylvania SURE system for voter integrity. It doesn't check the SSA or the USCIS data, although it may possibly do other checks.
Where are people like the Secretary of States in Republican states on fixing this?
Pennsylvania has a democratic secretary of state, more concerned with allowing everyone to vote who could possibly want to, then with fixing the voting process.
3. No one is checking for felons in PA. No effort is really done to purge the dead from the rolls.
There's over 500 people in Allegheney County over 100 years old on the voting rolls. now.
There's 1000 people with first name as initials.
There's 1000 people with a null birthdate as January 1st, 1900.
There's several PO Boxes as addresses, which is illegal.
I suspect Russell is really a RINO just like Crist in FL, his real intention is to help the dem get elected. A real republican would not do this. When are people going to step back and look at the whole picture. Yes Crist and Russell are selfish, they do not care a fig about the nation and helping the republicans get elected and in doing so, they will help the democrat get in. And they know it, they do not care. When are we the people going to wake up and vet these candidates out.
Cone on Tim Burns!
It’s great to see this country waking up, much to the chagrin of the Washington statist.
The democrats love paying Republicans to run against each other. Not that Republicans are innocent of this as well.
How sweet it will be to take back the seat from John Murtha, one of the most seditious and corrupt politicians our country has known (may he rot in Hell). Let’s all get behind Tim Burns!
Eschatologist comments make me wild. I live and vote in Pa and I want my vote to count for something, not be obliterated by fradulant voters. This has to stop. Why are our voting machines made for error……'Todd Urosevich famously said he'd do "everything possible" to get his favored politician elected". People we have to take back Amercia, let's have a hand count….let's do something different….let's go rogue!
The best news here is that Murtha can't run.
I have to agree…now let's hope the peope of that district do not vote in Murtha Jr.
The dems have been stealing elections since the beginning – sometimes they actually get caught, other times, not so much – ie. Al Franken!!
Newt G is on Beck's radio show right now urging folks to get out the vote for Tim Burns. Evidently Newt
f i n a l l y 'gets it', but why, why, why is Beck giving him a platform?
Isn't Hannity, O'Reily, and Greta enough air time for his sanctimonious, self promoting, egotistical spew-
ing?
DD Scozaflava much, Newt?
Research the Secretary of State Project – a soros funded operation aimed at getting progressive secretaries of state elected in as many states as possible. The goal is to get them in place, so they can influence the outcome of elections, since they areresponsible for overseeing the integrity of the voting process.
Our own acorn backed secretary of state sat on nearly 600,000 acorn submitted, unverified same day registration/early voting ballots until the deadline had passed to verify them, and then dumped the attached ballots into the pool with the rest of the submitted ballots. Obama won this state by less then 200,000 in 2008……….
Newt got suckered. Just like 54 million voters. He is now awake to the threat, go easy man, he will prove to be an asset.
Too close to call……. Burns would be great for the people in his district and the country. Since the Steel Collapse this is a population that is dependent on fed aid, and john P was the ma that brought the bacon home. Between the bribes, ABSCAM, defense contractors that the DoD can't shut down, etc., will the people of PA12 be fiscally responsible for the rest of the nation?
One can hope.
That's a very scary read, for sure!!

A Vote for Tim Burns is a good vote for our country. I have had enough of commie, Comrade Obama and the big spending Democrats! I pray that the people of PA vote ALL these crooked Democtrats our of office and save our country.
Reminds me of charlie crist in Florida.
Only if Russell sent in his team of lawyers to have Burns disqualified to run.
Maybe most of you don't know it, but Mr. Russell took on the Murtha Machine last time around and it was only the last minute intervention of the Democratic Party pumping money into Murtha's campaign that prevented Mr. Russell from winning. I live here, I know. Mr. Russell was fighting for the troops Murtha accused of mass murder.
Mr. Burns is the hand picked Republican Party millionaire.
Who's pulling votes from whom? Russell is more Tea Party than Burns who's Grand Old Party.
It's more of the same.
B.S.
Secretaries of State can also block efforts for recall elections which are becoming more popular with People unhappy with the "progressive" regime. It's happened in New Jersey with menendez.
i agree – if Gingrich is going to be a help, let him help. It's overdue….
Not to mention the democrats that falsely run as "conservatives" only to turn rabidly liberal once elected.
JD got a point there cornpone,…………..
Newt screwed up before but now I think he realizes what has to be done,………….
the man is articulate
Elimination of the opposition before the election.
I guess anybody is an improvement over Murtha. He laid claim to his service constantly and then shit on those who serve at every turn! Typical "I'm too important to fail" career politician.
Newt, when properly motivated, has done some great things for Conservatives. We know his failures, and we don't have to elect him to anything, but let's not dispense with the good for sake of the perfect.
Ralph,
But Newt is a RINO, and possibly a Proglodyte as well.
Newt is NO GOOD in my book.
Mornin John,
Have you heard of any Tea Party or national organization that is doing anything to counter this SOS takeover? I am purely sick to death of Soros buying America. This has to stop. Soros only has dollars. Voters have votes. And we have voices. (and if all else fails we got guns, lol)
What is being done, and what CAN be done? The SOS here in AZ is wonderful. But that's here. What about the rest of the country?
I think we need to pay attention to this. Really once we cannot depend on at least a majority of clean elections….we're cooked….forcing us to other far more drastic means. Not that i believe Americans won't go to the mattresses if forced but can't we get ahead of the curve so we don't ever have to make that call.
Again, where are the lawyers? Do Tea Parties and Breitbart and other national grassroots orgs not have ONE TEAM of lawyers who can help advise us, guide us, help us fight this kind of third world political BS?
You beat me to the Crist comment John
We all need to pay attention to our state elections. Look at who's backing the candidates – not just the names of the groups, but what they do, what they're involved in, who they're connected to. Actively campaign against the candidate who has even the remotest ties to the web of soros funded activist groups, inform everyone you can about who exactly is backing the candidate, and what the goals of those backers are.
Our current secretary of state won against a very capable and qualified conservative incumbent, through the active participation of acorn and project vote, in conjunction with the secretary of state project.
If the voters knew then what we know about these groups now, she may well have been defeated.
And now she's trying to run for a U.S. Senate seat – fortunately, she's trailing substantially for the nomination of her party.
Good Morning. (Afternoon here in Florida)
Yes! There are lawyers and organizations fighting the good fight. In New Jersey, the Secretary of State was beaten in NJ's Supreme Court and the recall petition is moving forward. Governor Christie is also doing yeoman's work both in policy and taking action to replace high officials that are part of the problem, who serve at his pleasure.
For this reason too, it's important that we work to elect Conservative Governors in as many States as possible. They can do a great deal of work installing qualified Conservatives into positions of responsibility. (Hats off to Governor Brewer)
Our response to the Soros types needs to come from many levels, all the way down to the local election level. Soros may have a lot of money, but it's chump change compared to the money that can come from a motivated electorate. So we need to vote and contribute, both time and money.
Excellent John,
Good news and advice. I've already passed on this whole discussion to several sites. We have more time here in AZ than many states so we can actually act on many of the suggestions and seeing how electing a conservative Gov especially, can impact many other problem areas is good to know. Puts much more focus on getting that one right. To that end Brewer's stand on illegals was, while much needed, still a carrot. The stick is her proposed new 1 cent sales tax coming up for a vote Saturday.
I'm not a lawyer. She SAYS 2/3 of the revenue will only be available for our schools. However in an article today the writer pointed out there's nothing in the law preventing the legislature from diverting that money by continuing to close schools, thus making the total amount spent less and giving the legislature more to spend in their 1/3 portion….which they of course have promised to use for fire and police…..heard that one before.
How would you advise we look at such a tax. We are in the red…no question. But our legislature is by no means fiscally conservative. So Brewer gives us the illegal law AND dumps extraneous ETHNIC STUDIES from the public school cirriculum…..and I KNOW she expects us to return that favor with a yes vote on the tax she needs to balance the budget.
But with a legislature already licking their chops….how do respond? What's really the best way to view this situation…fiscally. I ask because I really don't GET big picture economics. My intuition is to vote no. But that will hurt Brewer or give her no incentive to step out on a political iimb for us when we need a strong leader.
Any thoughts?
Sounds like Specter.
These people are incompetent of doing anything positive for the country. Even comparing these people to Jimmy Carter would be a compliment. What a crying shame.
Q. When the past becomes politically incorrect, what kind of country are we living in?
A. A “progressive” one.
How do you like it now?

Restore the Republic,
God Bless America
This is not the time to panic, nor the time to be sending accusations, my friends.
Do you think I'm unaware of the SOS project? Or the 12 million illegal aliens and 10 million legal immigrants who may or may not be voting? Who checks the voting rolls, before the fact or after, for immigrants voting?
This is the time to do research, to look locally, and to keep a sharp eye out. If you see something, figure out for yourself if there are alternative explanations.
Do this: Look at your local voter registry for people you know who are aliens or immigrants. Look for people you personally know who are criminals in jail. Check the election results and see if they voted. You can get the voting list including voting history for your counties and states.
Socialism is bad, but it can only be created in an environment where the will of the people can be safely ignored. That happens when the vote is stolen.
Any politician that believes they are the best person for the seat regardless of what the voters say I have to question their motivation for attaining the seat they are running for. We have to many career politicians in DC now, it is time that we find new people that have principles and values that mirror the voters.
Trust me Davey I do not much care for this Pelosi partnering
Rep.,..but,…………
as long as he is saying the right things now,.can only help.
But very true. Arizona finally adopted birth verification before one is allowed to vote.
I am planning on voting no. Brewer did good with the SB1070, but this tax thing is not right.
Back the governor; and, if the legislature acts otherwise, vote 'em out. We retake our country one precinct at a time.
or Reid.
In all honesty it sounds like most of the chuckle heads in DC, there are few that have gone there and remember why the people elected them to their seats.
Davey? I'm not a Davie sir… I won't call you Ralphie in response either…
There are those who will point out Oba-Mao said all the right things BEFORE the election too…
I no longer trust Newt.
Me and you DM, in the foxhole together, these fellow travelers think they are going to USE Newt?
HA, big joke IMO. Envision Newt in the band major suit, ya know with the tall furry hat with the
feather on top and the white jacket with buttons on either side of the chest with the gold ropes
swagging from one side to the other. He sits around in that cute lil' outfit, waiting for a band
come marching by and he sprints his chubby lil' arse to the front and says, "this band
needs a leader, I volunteer"! When this band marches to exhaustion Newt returns to the side-
lines waiting for another, prepared to do it all over again.
Newt's time is past, but he will jump into the leadership position sucking up all the oxygen from
any new leader who might emerge.
Yes Ma'am. That is exactly what will happen.
Newt is done in my book. I will never trust him again.
We need fresh leadership.
Critz is not running unopposed as the article says. A Navy vet and businessman from Monongahela named Ryan Bucchianeri (www.ryan2010.com) is also running.
Watch, he is probably going to vote.

I'd have to say that at least some of this has to do with your State legislature, and what their track record on spending is. I'm not qualified to judge that. But I would say that at this point, ANY proposal to increase taxes to cover budget shortfalls, or to prop up failing systems, is simply the wrong approach. In most of the United States, spending on education is among the highest in the industrialized world, but somehow the outcomes are far below par. Certainly if "money" was the main issue, America should have the most educated population in the world. We don't. But if the problem is systemic, all the money in the world is not going to fix it. If the problem has anything to do with high numbers of children of illegal aliens, that would be part of a systemic problem, for instance.
Right from the start, I am highly dubious of tax increases. But when the "sell" for that increase includes "it's only 1%" and "it's for the children," (or vital services, security, etc.) you can count me out. Unless there is a real, demonstrable effort to revamp the management and administration of these institutions first, I could not support spending an extra dime on it. If there is still a real need to increase revenues, I would want to see policy that provides incentive for increasing business and home ownership before I'd support the cheap fix of a sales tax increase (or lotteries, gambling, etc.) If a State were run like a business, there would need to be a proven increase in efficiency and productivity before there would be any increase in budget. I see no reason not to demand as much from our government entities.
Lt. Col. Bill Russell is NOT promoting himself as a write-in for the Special Election. This is incorrect information. In fact, Russell has been sending emails requesting that his supporters vote for Burns in the Special Election and for him in the Primary Election. I am happy to provide a screenshot of this information to anyone who wants evidence of this.
I am so disappointed in Russell. When he ran against Murtha 2 years ago, he did a fairly credible job in his first campaign. Now he is trying to screw up the works for the GOP/Tea Partiers. I guess the democrat machine got to him and has promised him something. Maybe the position that Sestak turned down when offered by Barry's team not to run against Arlen Sphincter.
This information about Russell promoting himself is NOT true. This article is just another attempt to distort what's really going on here. Russell told me with his own mouth that HE DOES NOT WANT A WRITE IN CAMPAIGN!! He has been very classy about this, and has grasciuosly accepted that he is not a candidate for the special election. I have emails from his campaign stating his position on this. Please don't drink the Kool-aid–and vote for Bill Russell who was willing to take on Murtha without the party establishment money. The voters who are paying attn understand what is happening here. The party elites are ramming Burns down our throats when we had a perfectly good candidate to start with. It's too bad the state party chairman was friends with Murtha and benefitted heavily financially from all his PORK. The voters here are very motivated for Russell. Don't let an outsider spin this.
[...] Big Government has more from the ground in Pennsylvania. Comments (14) [...]
This information about Russell promoting himself and doing a write-in campaign is simply NOT true, I spoke with him.
This article is false. Russell told me himself that he is not a candidate in the special electiona nd does not want a write-in. But dont' believe the candidate, listen to an article written by an outsider invited by Burns to do an article….hmmmm…
Bill Russell told me he does not want a write-in and has never asked for one. (I have the email to prove it too)Burns has been spreading this lie from stump speeches himself.. The only one talking about a write-in is Burns. But I guess it's easier to believe an out-of-state guy invited by the Burns campaign to write an article about his race instead of asking Bill himself. the people here are voting against the establishment ramming a candidate hand-picked by them to railroad Russell. Can't wait to vote!
It's shame that people will believe an article written by an outsider, invited by the Burns campaign itself to write an article about what's going on here. If they really wanted the truth, they should have asked Col. Bill Russell himself. He would have been glad to speak with them. But I don't think the truth was what they were after, just hype to promote Burns for the Primary. Republicans are already voting for Burns in the Special election.
[...] in the Pennsylvania election? Say it ain’t so: What makes all of this extremely interesting is that Bill Russell has been quoted at PA2010.com as [...]
'Hype' isn't a bad thing the day before an election. In fact, if you don't do it you probably won't get elected. What is strange is excessively hyping someone who is not on the ballot tomorrow who may of course be a great and deserving person. I have read countless times that the GOP hand picked one candidate over another in this race. Fine. I don't give to the GOP, I give to candidates. If people stop giving to the GOP, the GOP will stop being able to pick candidates. In the meantime, why not wait about 36 more hours then go non-stop about the GOP's problems and choices. Just an idea.
Term Limits will stop this foolishness. One and done from the our Commander in Thief on down. No more career politicos and, prevent them from ever being lobbyists as well. Serve the people and the nation, then go back to private life.
Will we end up with some bad fruit? Yes, but look what we have now.
You make some interesting points but on one you are incontrovertibly WRONG. It is NOT illegal to have a PO Box as an address. In fact EVERYONE in my home town in Pennsylvania has a PO Box as their sole legal address. This rural area has no mail delivery. If we didn't have a post office box we would have no address at all. Better check your facts on that one.

We have three awesome videos posed on Common Cents made by the Tim Burns for Congress campaign…
http://www.commoncts.blogspot.com
They did not go to the Burns Headquarters, they went to the Washington County Republican Headquarters which has been highjacked by the PAGOP for Burns. Tim Burns Headquarters is around the corner and usually empty. Bill Russell has not asked anyone to write him in for the special election, this is a fabrication of the Burns campaign to make voters lose faith in Russell. The Burns campaign and the media have been asked on several occasions to offer proof of this statement and they have not. The State Chairman has not liked Russell since the last time he ran, so he made sure he stacked the deck so he would not win a place on the ballot for the special election and he is doing everything he can to make sure he doesn't win the primary as well.
Listen to those that live here in the District, not those who are on the outside looking in.
I am for the REPUBLIC and I believe that Tim Burns is the man who we need to see WIN this race and be on the Ballot for November! Wish I lived there and could be voting for Mr. Tim Burns!!! Unable to do that but will pray/make some calls and send in an extra last minute contribution! Thanks for this good report of your experiance on the ground in Pa..
Personally I think that it is great to see that one who is not so 'close to the subject' does come in and give an honest view of what is going on!!!!
I for one know these people and there are others there on the ground now giving support and working on this campaign. Some times you can be so close you can not see the facts as they really are!
I appreciate what these people are volunteering their time to do for this Great Country of the USA!
It has become 'duty' as we are fed up to our hair-follicles with what has been going on!
If you are not, you are in denial or one of the opposition!
I live in Washington, Pa and I am part of the 12th district. I am very familiar with the situation between the State party, Tim Burns, and Bill Russell. Mr. Russell stated 1 time that he was going to write himself in as a "personal protest" because of the way the state party influenced the conferee process that chose Burns for the special election. I have asked Mr. Russell about this the write-in personally after Mr. Burns told me that that was Russell's plan. There is no such Write-in campaign happening here. Mr. Russell sent out an e-mail last night asking everyone to vote for Burns in the special election. The only people that this has been coming from is the Burns camp. This article is a perfect example. They talk to the Burns camp and get this side of the story, then the attitude is "Don't tread on us". If you actually knew what the real story was, you would realize that this is intentionally being used to demonize Russell for something that he is not doing. Guess that is what happens when you only talk to one party and go write a story half cocked. Sad to say, that has become typical for the media these days.
Amen. Newt had his chance, and he blew it.
It's amazing just how repentant these RINOs can look and act when they aren't quite as famous any more as they'd like to be.
I think you are picturing Newt as an opportunistic "drum major."
Not a bad analogy, by the way…
I'm a conspiracy theorist. Let's blame the Dems for stirring it up between Burns and Russell.
More mis-information to slader Lt.Col Russell. I am the point person for the Russell Brigade in Washington County Pennsylvania and our phone bank have been making calls that not only promotes Bill but recommends Burns in the "special election." I have personally addressed the FOAC (Firearms Owners Against Crime) on Bill's behalf and have recommended voting for Burns in the special election (along with official Russell Brigade literature stating such). Lt. Col. Russell has sent out emails officially stating that we need to elect Burns in the special election. But still the scuddlebutt continues.
The truth is this… the Tim Burns campaign is using this issue to put Lt. Col. Russell's integrity into question and the PAGOP is setting Bill up for a scapegoat if Burns loses. What does this say about the PAGOP and the Burns campaign?
But it isn't an honest view. I live in the district as well and can tell you that this article is a blatant lie. Mr. Russell even sent out a phone message stating that he would like to clear up some confusion about the upcoming election. His message said that he would like everyone to vote for Burns in the special election and then vote for him in the regular primary. I know because i received this call Sunday evening.
I you really supported Tea Party candidates (as your name implies) and not just a republican party shill that you obviously are, you would be hoping for a Burns victory in the special election and a Russell victory in the regular primary.
No, let's put the blame squarely where it belongs. On the shoulders of PA's POS republican party chairman (Gleason) and local party leaders. Gleason is from Murtha's district and for my entire voting life – I'm in my 40s – the local republican party has only put up idiot candidates to run against Murtha. To make matters worse, some of the local republican leaders consistently endorsed Murtha. Heck, even in this race we have a local POS republican leader (Pasquerilla) that has endorsed the democrat Crtiz.
Johnstown PA is a microcosm of all that is wrong with the Republican Party.
Finally last election, Bill Russell runs against Murtha and without a lot of party help comes very close to beating Murtha (Russell got around 44% of the vote). Why on earth would Gleason and other party leaders select Burns when they already had a candidate with a ton of support? Why confuse the issue like they've done?
I can not speak for receiving the call but I certainly will strongly stand against calling the article writer a 'blatant liar'.
You don't call these men , who authored this article, that as I'd put my life on the line with them as they are not 'liars' of any kind. They wrote what they observed from the constituents 'while they were in Pa.
Perhaps Mr. Russell is 'changing his tactic's ' as your call came in Sunday evening and this article was written Sunday night!
None the less, 'whenever' to use this tactic: This approach is contrary to the views of all conservatives, and displays a divide-and-conquer mentality. To do it even 'later is a Saul Salinky tactic & not be wise choice to win back the peoples seat and succeed against the progressives take over of this country and destruction of the Republic. Don't drink the Kool Aid of anyone who takes the Republic in that direction!! Flavor and charisma can be tasty but demise of the Republic!
I can't vote for Bill Russell but I wish I could. He is not trying to split the vote in the district! He did not start any kind of a write in campaign for himself! Many of his supporters wanted to start a write in campaign but he said no. He puts his country's best interest first as he has done as a military officer for 28 years. Bill is the real deal. If you want a man with integrity, honesty, courage and morals, he is your man!
Thin skinned much? Let me get you a tissue. Nice try but I'm not buying. I'm glad you'd put your "life on the line" with these guys but sorry, I don't believe a word either of these authors have wrote. I certainly don't drink the Kool Aid from EITHER party. That's what got us into this ugly national mess in the first place. I suggest you take your own advice.
You talk of tactics that are contrary to the views of conservatives. This whole fake issue is contrary to true conservative principles. This article was posted THE DAY before the election. Let me suggest that the authors attempted to use the same tired and old technique of releasing something "potentially" damaging so late that the candidate can not fight the charge – no matter how bogus. The same technique loved by democrats and the MSM. Like I said, I'm not buying.
I live in the 12th and know exactly what's going on. I've lost count of the calls I've received at home from both candidates. I can tell you that none of the calls I received from Mr. Russell mentioned ANYTHING about writing in his name for the Special. That would be stupid and self defeating and Mr. Russell is smart enough to know this. To remain a strong, viable candidate – even if he loses this election – he had to support (although not too strongly) Burns in the Special.
I have nothing against Tim Burns. The more I read about him, the more I liked him. In fact, I've already voted for the man in the Special. However, he's gone down in my estimation based on these ridiculous claims. This issue reeks of dirty politics and I for one am sick of candidates that use them.
It wasn't Mr. Russell that displayed the "divide and conquer" mentality. I'd look to the corrupt PAGOP for that.
Since the authors mention Rules for Radicals, "The write-in approach looks very similar to an Alinsky tactic aimed at a fellow Republican", let's have a look at Rule 12.
RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it." Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.
Exactly what this article tried to do to Bill Russell with the ridiculous write-in charge. Disgusting.
