White House Caught Altering Stimulus Baseline Projection by 7 Million Jobs

So to justify the Administration’s current claim of 2.8 million jobs “created or saved” by stimulus, they need to also claim that without that stimulus there would be only 126.9 million jobs. That’s exactly what they do, displayed as the “baseline projection” level in the graphic below from an April 14, 2010 report:
An inconvenient truth, at least for the Obama Administration, is that once upon a time, in their January 2009 Romer/Bernstein Report they told America that without their stimulus there would be 133.9 million jobs. That’s right, in order to make it look like their stimulus has “created or saved” 2.8 million jobs, the Obama Administration first had to whack 7 million jobs from their previous estimates.
Here’s the math:
Step 1: How many jobs does the Administration currently claim there would be, without stimulus?
129.7 million Current number of U.S. jobs
- 2.8 million Jobs currently claimed to be “created or saved”
126.9 million Jobs the Administration currently claims there would be without stimulus
Step 2: How does that compare with the number of jobs the Administration used to say there would be without stimulus?

= 7 million Jobs removed from the Administration “baseline” to justify their latest stimulus job creation claims
Here’s the story problem:
This year 11-year old Jane’s class is studying money and budgets. In September every student wrote down their savings, and what they wanted in savings by the end of school in June. Jane started with $134, but wants to do better and have $137 ($3 more) saved by year’s end. She figures that will be easy, since she will get birthday money in a few months. But now it’s late May, and Jane has only $130, because she spent her birthday money, and then some. What should Jane do in her final report on the savings project?
- Be honest and admit she didn’t reach her goals of $3 more in savings, totaling $137, due to her spending habits; or
- Say at the start of the year she only “really” thought she would have $127 saved by year’s end, and claim “success” for ending up with $3 more than that and see if her teacher notices.

As President Reagan warned in his speech in 1961, on the dangers of socialized medicine; the American people would not accept socialism outright, but under the banner of liberalism we would accept every facet of socialism. For the past sixty years the entitlement programs that started as humanitarian safety nets, under Democratic majorities, have since grown into retirement programs to the exclusion of private investment, and the most fraud ridden delivery of health care any nation has ever witnessed. Remember where we are presently situated fiscally, how long will it be until those promises are worthless? I have a copy of the California Voters Registration form that came with my CDL renewal form (that's California Drivers' License for those who are not California residents). No where on the form do you have to swear that you are a US Citizen.

How do we know illegals don't vote. Even though there are laws on the books that tell you who can't vote (convicted felons, under 18 year olds, etc…) there is no requirement to show an ID when you cast that ballot. My son showed up at his polling place in November 08 and was told he had already voted. His name was ticked on the list. Anyone can show up and say they are [whatever name they see on the list laying in front of them].

I am a CPA. When I was taking Governmental Accounting as an undergraduate 30 years ago we had a rather humerous professor that gave long test question with a full pages of facts and assumptions. One problem he gave was to write a procedure to project revenue for three years based on all of the assumptions then apply the plan and project revenue. Among the procedures jokenly suggested was "Make the projection then change the assumptions to fit your projection." That professor passed away a few years back. I wish he had lived to see his jokes become the correct answer.
I was sent this article and horrified at how much of a blowhard people can be.
That estimate given in January 2009 was a future estimate based on economic growth numbers in a recession that turned out to be worse than what economists thought it would be. That's when they said "there will be 133 million jobs at this future date." Then that future date arrived and they reran the data using retrospective data instead of prospective estimates (i.e. data that actually existed as opposed to data how they thought it would look), and said "OK, given how the economy actually went, we would have 126.9 million jobs had we not spent the extra stimulus money."
This isn't fuzzy math or anything. What this clown is doing is taking 2 totally different calculations based on totally different numbers and pretending that the Obama administration manipulated the numbers to suit it. And then he used a cutesy story about children doing something that's about 1000 times less complex than macroeconomic policy to "prove" his point. Also, if his analogy was correct, he would have said "Jane started with $140 and figured she'd spend $6 on a new toy. Turns out, that new toy cost $10. However, her plan of saving $3 by putting any loose change she could find into a piggy bank still went on as planned, and she STILL saved $3 even though the end total is less than expected."
Either that, or you have to believe that spending money on infrastructure, local/state budgets, and tax credits actually lost jobs and then Obama changed the numbers to hide that fact, which nobody in the world would ever believe since it's economically impossible for spent money to lose jobs.

Tighten up their identification procedures? You do realize that some states require no ID to vote, right? That also makes it next to impossible to track some forms of fraud, so you have it wrong on both points.
