Code TEA: Tea Parties, Go Home! All Politics Is Local
by Capitol ConfidentialTEA Parties nation-wide have found that calling, writing, and showing up in person in D.C. has the same impact as a hiccup in a hurricane. After turning out thousands of citizens at rallies, overwhelming the Senate phone lines and crashing Congress’ e-mail system, our elected representatives are poised to enact the greatest expansion of government in history. The TEA Parties followed the direction of national organizations and associations. They answered the call, but were sent over the trench-line without an actual plan or support. (See, for example, Somme, Battle of) It is time for the TEA Party movement to turn inward. In the words of the age-old adage, “ All politics is local “.

Stories like the ACORN tapes have massive national legs, yet they do not destroy the local farm team of tax-and-spend big government. Fighting for Liberty and the ability to live the American dream requires getting your hands dirty far closer to home.
For the TEA party and 9-12 groups to become effective, they must evolve again, and this time the Gadsden Flag will be a marker laid down to far more personal targets. People find the mundane of daily life and local news forgettable, yet this is how the TEA party can enact meaningful change.
To end the progression of large intrusive government and the progressive agenda, the TEA party must neuter the left’s farm team. City Council, County Board, Park Districts, and School Boards may not have the flash of State Representatives, State Senators or their federal partners, but, they are, indeed, perhaps more the important .
The progressives and Big Government-types have entrenched themselves into local power bases. They have expanded the role of government from the garbage man to the kindergarten teacher. They are taking us over from within, yet we can push back.
Until the last year, our side has been busy with our personal and professional lives. We have looked past machine politics and the local aspects of our lives. We have ignored the corruption in our hometowns. We have chosen to overlook the police state that has grown. We have chosen to allow the nanny state to encroach on smoking in taverns or trans-fat in our doughnuts, to name just two recent examples. We have allowed an extra $.05 sales tax for “insert public good here” after another, without protest or outrage.
In our slumber, we have allowed our liberties to be encroached. We have allowed the will of the State to be imposed on us. In places like Missouri, we have allowed no more than 30 hardened progressives to dictate the tempo of the debate. (Fortunately, we do know who you are and will be outing you here.) We have allowed this to happen because we have not paid attention to the minor league ball game.
We choose instead to protest in Washington, D.C. We chose to show outrage to the political class that is not listening. They won’t listen; they do not have to . They have showered their districts in pork and bribed us with our own money. They can freely come back home from the Beltway bubble to their local farm team and act like they conquered Gaul.
A local mayor and a rogue’s gallery of other officials will hold a press conference with the Representative or Senator and the lamestream media will re-broadcast their talking points. These local co-conspirators will treat the federal officials as Caesar, yet the arch they march through is a fake. These people have only accomplished one thing; they have retained power. They hold power by controlling the means of political production. They control us by controlling our cities, counties, parks, and schools. They have turned us into a class of serfs begging for scraps from the table that we fill. (That’s actually unfair to serfs. In Medieval times, serfs only had to hand over 1/3 of their income to the feudal lords. Add up federal, state and local tax levies, we may much more than serfs ever paid. So, what does that make us?)
Now is the time for the TEA party to show it’s real colors and longevity. Now it is time for us to stop the rallies and start the process of running for election and holding our current officials directly accountable. Now is the time for the plumber, the electrician, and the Joe Six-pack American to end this madness.
No more will we go quietly into that long night. Now, we must fight. We must take back the system and make our elected officials fear “we the people”. This is the battle our forefathers saw many years ago.
This is the time for the Tea Party to seize the day and make a difference. Which party you decide to run on doesn’t matter. Republican or Democrat matters little, as the national leaders of both have lost touch. What matters is we destroy the go-along-to-get-along farm team. It also matters that we pick a party…the Republicans and Democrats have together gamed the system against third parties. Creating a TEA Party isn’t a serious solution. Leverage your power locally to change your party.
Make a pledge to not vote to tax and spend the people’s money. Make a pledge to quit after “x” amounts of terms in office. The people are waiting for a leader; they are waiting for a Captain. Be that Captain. March to the sound of the guns, and seize the day.
With TEA party people in every position of government, the political class in Washington will listen. They will no longer have the political cover of pork-hungry Mayors doing tricks for the political elite. There will no longer be days of staffers blowing people off to vote for their party line.
A carpet-layer has more experience to lead than any political hack. An insurance man has more ability to look at regulations than a risk-adverse lawyer. A veteran has more understanding of what it takes to support our men and women in harms way.
It is time to break the mold of what looks good to get elected. Now is the time to become involved. Now is the time to hear the sounds of battle and join. The Government teat must be turned off. The system needs to be rebooted.
Help start the process and run for office. The great sleeper that is America has woken up. 2010 is not the end game, neither is 2012. The end game is when we level the playing field and make America once again the land of opportunity.
Fly that Gadsden flag high and fly it proud. But, that isn’t enough. It is time to leave your fields and join the battle. March to the sound of the guns.

Look for the words of repeal and term limits in any new politician's platform.
There are many laws that will need to be repealed!
No cushy "retirement" packages for the vanquished either. Crime must not pay.

I don't think "we" have become complacent about these things. It's just that the electorate has been expanded by past immigration debacles and the current invasion from the south to include rent-seekers who, if they cannot vote will still pressure politicians to comply with their wishes, and those who can vote will do so for any Democrat who promises to keep handing out goodies from the larder, which is stocked by responsible, working citizens.
Republics and democracies fail once a significant portion of the electorate learns that it can vote itself benefits from tax revenues. We're on that slippery slope right now and we had better strap on our clampons and start climbing back off of it or we're toast.
Amen! You are absolutely right. Local politics is where their power is first granted, and it's where the fewest have historically taken interest (other than the progressives seeking to entrench themselves in the system). That has to end. Lucky for us, many of the tea party and 9-12 groups have already learned this and have been steadily preparing locally for mid-term elections, and are also running candidates for offices of all sorts, from school boards to city councils. While the big government types in Congress may think no one is coming for them at the polls in 2010, they'd better think again. (And No, Mr. Axelrod, the elections are NOT that far off, and the people will NOT forget. You underestimate the intelligence and the will of the people). No ACORN or SEIU can save you now; pump as much money as you want into all your silly little Democracy Alliance groups, but there are more of us. There are MORE of US. Armies of voters will be there ready and waiting on every election day, armed with their greatest weapon – their vote.
We just ousted our County Commissioners, corrupt as hell. We will now have an Executive Board with no party affiliation. Our state auditor, for the moment, is deciding which bills will be paid. Funny, he's finding a lot of overpayments (padding) have been made to companies working for the county. All the local Dem leaders wanted to keep the commissioners, the voters went against the party line. WE WON!!!
I love it buddy, and indeed is what is needed. We must clean the political parasites out of the system, and make them understand who the boss is. I’ve been to three “Tea Party’s” and the power and energy is palpable, and as this article expresses it’s time to drop the hammer on the political class. Save some of your anger for academia, they are an enemy of the USA as well. March to the sounds of the guns. God Bless America!

It's now very clear that politicians have no regard for the people they represent. They must all be turned out of office, every one. And each new official needs to know that they are being watched very closely, and will be turned out of they do not implement the will of the people.
The days of trusting a politician are over.
Now that we are going to relocate the Gitmo crew to Illinois I propose that we increase the prison population by an additional 535 "residents".

Capital Confidential is correct. The reason ACORN has been so successful (well, until lately) is that they do work on a local basis. This is where one can TRULY make a difference. There are already groups doing this, however. One which has been very effective is not one you hear about in the National Media (because it is keeping things local) is United in Liberty. http://www.unitedinliberty.org is all about organizing SMALL pods of concerned citizens for the purpose of education on the true principles of government (called the 12 Principles of Liberty) and activism at the most local of levels. They are going to city council meetings, planning and zoning meetings, school board meetings, etc. It is at the local levels that we have lost our liberties. It must be from the bottom up that we renew them.
Well that sounds all well and good, but I think this is beyond local politics. This is a movement that is going to morph into a 3rd party and overwhelm the national political scene. Those parties don't represent us and therefore we cannot work with them nationally or locally. Sorry but this is much bigger than that and it's just getting started.
and no puny fines and rewards for illegal alien criminals either!!!! toss them and the scumbags in the congress across the border with orders shoot to kill anyone not entering through 2 or 3 legal entry points with valid documents otherwise bye bye….
you can be relatively safe assuming that the gitmo guys won't be there long…they'll be let off by some panty waste judge (thanks Charlie for that line)….
I have written about this very subject in my new article "The Tea Party Revolution – A Manifesto" published at the New Patriot Journal:
http://www.newpatriotjournal.com/Post/1316/The%20...
controlling the local and state is far easier than trying to control the scum in D.C. Vote in the right people and then declare nullification and State sovereignty….simply tell the feds we will not comply!!!
If they pass it we will not obey and if they tax it we will not pay. It's that simple.
A comment left elsewhere, the focus being that the Fourth Estate has been the prime mover behind all of this:
Bested by hippies. Damn, but that hurts. It was no accident, their sit-ins at college, their takeover of campus newspapers, their worship of Woodward and Bernstein, their activism in education, their power-mongering class warfare– all of it of a single focus. It is impressive, that sort of far-reaching, connective tissue of a tangible vision for destruction.
Bested by hippies. And today, the shortest day of the year. The longest night is to come.
Do we in the Tea Parties make any difference? As of right now I think not. This Congress sided with The One against millions of Americans. So far all of our cries of foul have fallen on deaf ears. Can we in next year's elections really make a change or will the same old Americans continue to blindly vote their party line?
FTA: We choose instead to protest in Washington, D.C. We chose to show outrage to the political class that is not listening. They won’t listen; they do not have to .
Why don't they have to listen? Because, as we've learned, hundreds of thousands of protestors make no sound if there is no media covering them. The big mistake is protesting the government when the real problem is THE MEDIA. Put 100,000 people in each of the parking lots at ABCCBENBCPBSCNNNYTIMES all on the same day and maybe they'll notice we're there.
Where Lynn? Do tell, shine the harsh light of day on the miscreants!
Email, telephone, snailmail, fax, protest your local news outlet that you think Ben Nelson betrayed the country. He can hit the delete button on those emails so fast nobody will ever know he got them. Sure they'll stay on a permanent server somewhere, but if the media doesn't look for them it's as though they don't exist.
My In-laws are NY elite (why my husband escaped to our little farm in VA) and I was shocked when I had a chance to talk to a cousin who recently finished Harvard with a degree in History. I had my proud little UVA degree and a conservative core, but she every sentence she spouted was pure hatred of America and her pat answers offered no curiosity, nothing beyond one liners from any progressive textbook. She'd never heard of deTocqueville and Washington was nothing more than another slaveowner interested in keeping his status quo. I always thought she was a very bright girl, but now she is intellectually dead. Although it is just one example, it supports my belief that deferring to an Ivy League degree or in some instances any degree is simply as un-American as the culture deference to the Old World that Emerson once decried. WE who exercise freedom of thought are SMARTER than any who are simply taught not to think in an IVY league school.
Take back the schools!
The real reason ACORN has been so successful is that they think it is okay to cheat to attain their goals. They even think that cheating is necessary and good. It is a war to them and all's fair…
That's the best I dea I have heard yet!! They can't deny us then!!
I think that we are already past the point of no return, at least in our lifetime. The corruption is far worse than I thought it was even six months ago.
Austin American-Statesman article this morning!:
DEMOCRATS AIMING TO DIG IN
"—-Organizing for America has a staff in Texas as large as any of its other state operations, including California and Ohio.—Organizing for America is looking to help Democrats regain their footing in Texas for the 2010 election. We are going to make sure that we have volunteers ready to go at a moment's notice and
the organization works at an "ORGANIC LEVEL, NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBOR."
We are in the crosshairs Texas. Be vigilant!
I've seen the newspaper in my town go out of its way to cover 15 people who are protesting something progressive and completely ignore tens of thousands of people at a tea party. Take it to them. They will deny us. We'll have to do it again and again. Make it matter to them.
I AGREE WITH ALL ABOVE….However, the TEA PARTY needs a leader. We neec someone to rally us…to organize us and to recruit us. Who will it be?
The old expression, lead, follow or get out of the way applies here. . .The TEA Party can lead but must do so smartly and coalesce with like-minded, Non-Marxist groups — the way the first American Revolution came together through many militias joining. . .that did not necessarily like each other, agree on strategies, even though they were all fighting for freedom from the same tyranny. . .
Let's lead but coalesce with other groups to achieve long-term objectives — remove the MARXISTS/COMMUNISTS from governmental positions and from infusions into societal roles such as education.
Typing my letter of protest to Senator Nelson immediately!

Amen.
Turn their tactics on them, but be aware of what the real problem is. The REAL problem is the corrupt press.
I am gonna do just that. I am running for town selectman here in Maine. Its times not just to talk grassroots, but actually get stuck in and do grassroots politics.
Shirl: I disagree the trouble with "leaders" is that they can be divisive. It will be hard someone that all the tea party types will rally to it seems.
the very nature of a grass roots movement is to command change at the local level. the tea party movement needs to go to battle at all levels of government – and is. sadly, the state level of gov. is becoming less relevant as the feds continue to mandate that states do this and that.
I have written my state reps several times, unfortunately I live in Illinois! Our state is broke and the corrupt politicians just continue to do the same old crap, a whole lot of lying. It's time we all stand up for what is right and just in America. Time to clean house and get some "common sense" people from our local levels all the way to the top. This crap pisses me off!!!
Albuquerque threw out Mayor Marty and elected a Republican instead, put two new more conservative City Council members on, tipping the power base away from the progressive agenda. Mayor Marty's gift on leaving was to collect a deferred $37,000 USD for "Workers Compensation", and do under the table deals with the firefighters to keep them on after a driving while intoxicated charge…then run off to Copenhagen to bask in his own dubious "Green" glow…
People are even figuring it out here in the "Land of Patron"…
Protest the press. Rent billboards. Hire skywriters. Hand out broadsides. Most of the nation knows nothing about what is really going on.
Until everybody in the country sees what you see, nothing will ever change. The truth is being hidden. Thank God and Al Gore for the internet.
How do we get people to hear?
He will put your letter in the shredder upon receipt. Carbon copy it to every news outlet you can think of. Put it on a billboard.
Well, there's the rub: how to fight the impunity of the press? How do you impress a sense of ought to the fearless and feckless?
I know how, but. . .
Local health care Legislation: Ben Nelson and Mary Landrieu were the two yeas that served their constituencies. All the other yeas voted against the best interests of their states by agreeing to not only take over the funding of medicare via the transfer to the states medicaid programs, but they also agreed to pay for medicaid in Nebraska and Louisiana. Can Your senator be recalled for working against the populations of Your states?
The federal government has given itself the right to tax specific wages and items. Can states and localities in Your state itemize taxes on say…government-paid workers making over the average private sector job wage? How about taxing fees paid for grant writing? If it is so clearly legal at the federal level, it must be so at the local levels.
Last I knew HCR contained the ability of the federal government to access the information and remove money from Your banking accounts. Is this still true? Is not the purview of HCR inclusive of doing the public good? Cannot the public good of eminent domain eventually be wed to the proposition of health care public good? Does the government database of our financial states eventuate eminent domain claims against bank accounts?
"The town council hereby seizes Your account for the greater good of the community. We need to pay for the new community center."
Local govts can be considered the 'Farm Leagues' of politics. Where do we usually get our national politicians from? Obama sprung up from the bowels of Chicago class/race politics. It shouldn't surprise anyone that his current agenda continues to represent first those who tend to suck at teets rather than produce, and those whose lively hoods and careers rely on ever-expanding govt rule. They really do exist in another world than the one most Americans dwell in, being a culture within a culture. Minimal governance is up against an industry of expanding govt. dominance, based on nothing more than it's claim to knowing better than we do. The country was founded on the people knowing better than govt. Obama may be the figurehead in Anti-Americanism but the roots are older than he is.
Even though I think the most effective path back to some rationality in govt. is through a revitalized recommitted Republican Party, I think Tea Partiers should continue doing what they do. They are currently the best representation of average working voters who are fed up with govt that dictates. Hope aside, it remains to be seen whether Republicans find their inner opposition or become the next '40 year minority'.
I worked my arse off putting on a local event while the masses JUST HAD to go to DC on 9-12. I worked my arse off on the Tax Day Tea Party just to have someone take what we had done and start a for profit business.
Our calls, our trips or letters are not doing a damn thing.
At this point, I don't care anymore about helping to plan Events and attending Townhalls and Tea parties.
My focus for 2010 will be on those candidates that need help, keeping my food and powder stocked

The Federal Government is clearly out of control.
They have and continue to show ther intent to ignore the Constitution and to enslave the people of this republic.
They serve themselves, not us. They act as masters not representatives.
It is beyond time that we consider what benefit we in the states and localities are receiving from this union. There is only debt and waste and wanton disregard for the rights and liberties of the people.
This is intolerable citizens, what is to be done?
AADD? Do you mean ADHD? You do know that's a neurological disorder don't you? You making fun of that?

Don't have time to read all the comments this morning, but scanned a few.
What I didn't see in this post was a huge collective effort to withhold tax money in April. With all the tax cheats working for our federal government, this seems particularly appropriate – and, given the number of people who actually might participate, extremely effective.
good call to arms – influence and kill big government by getting our voices heard.
It's YOU, Shirl. If not you, someone like you…
If you believe for one minute these bastards did not get our memo you are wrong. They have been offered golden parachutes and they took the opt out. Soon these Dogged Democratic traitors will be replaced. The Rinos are nearly dead and will breath their last breaths in 2010 and 2012. Yes we need to work at the local level but we need to scream into the night aw well we need to amass where we can and when we can. If for no other reason then our children are watching, they are the ones that will be battling this evil long after we are dead. My adult children have seen a fire in my belly they have never seen before, it is alarming them, and it is waking them. They are not yet warriors but they are now awake. NEVER STOP BELIEVING. Make your faith an action word. Faithing in God, Faithing in America, Faithing in the common decency of man. It is only with these faiths that one can imagine a government conceived in liberty. When we give up on these truths liberty dies and tyranny returns.
They are hammering the last nail into their coffins with Health Care Nightmare Votes. The majority of Americans are Conservative and the Majority of Americans are against this so called ‘Reform,’ and yet they pass it anyway. The Democrats are on the train to no where and hopefully it will get rid of the pork and waste when it doesn’t come back in 2010.

Cuyahoga County, OH
ALL County commissioners have been fired. Clerk of Courts showed up to work 76 days in 2009.
Our Commisioneers were/are being investigated by the FBI
People just keep voting the same crooks back into office. The City Council wanted a slight change in operations, but the voters wanted complete and lasting reform. Petitions got the initiative on the ballot. We won big time!
Those weapons will soon be used by the people to rid the stink. Enough guns sold this year to arm three armies. Tea party members will need to bring them next time they head to Washington.
MiPain, you are right on target. We must remember what these scoundrels have done to us, in the middle of the night, behind our backs, and last but not least, against our will. Being in-firmed, I cannot start, or even go to rallys, but, I can be a keyboard warrior and remind people of the betrayal that congress is attempting. Next november, we the people must send a clear message to congress, vote out every incumbent who is not conservative. It doesn't matter if they're democrat or republican or independent. If they're conservative, and believe the constitution is more than just a piece of paper, allow them to stay, if not, vote them out. We the people are the only ones who can take back America, and we the people are the only ones who can end the corruption that is congress.
The whole purpose of the Elitist-Corporatist-Socialist model is to create a model where all the power, money and influence is controlled out of Washington, with Big Unions, Big Government, Big Corporations all sitting down together to divvy up the spoils.
To suggest that the solution to attacking this Behemoth lies at trying to take over School Boards / County Offices etc. where the bulk of the dollars (power) are dished out from Washington down in return for rewards/paybacks at the local level is way off base.
Our founding fathers had the wisdom to allow us to modify the Constitutuion, they also correctly recognized that the bar must be set high to change the core law of our land. The time is at hand
1. Term Limits/Benefit Limits 2. Restrict "General Welfare" from the Document. 3. Restrict Congress leash to pass laws that belong at the state level.

479,520 minutes. 7992 hours. 333 days.
That's how long it's been since Barack Obama was sworn in as President. At the end of this first year, some progressives are feeling holiday blahs because we haven't won everything we wanted.
Don't.
Remember our hard battle at the start of the year over whether to direct our tax money toward creating jobs and stimulating the economy? Won that one. Here in my hometown construction workers are doubling the size of our overburdened community health clinic thanks to that stimulus money, and similar worthy projects across the country kept thousands of Americans working. ( support our work to rebuild and renew America's economy. )
How about the F-22 fighter jet? TrueMajority members have worked for years to end that wasteful project, and this July we won THAT one, freeing up $65 billion in Pentagon pork spending for more urgent needs. ( support our work for sensible budget priorities. )
Then there's healthcare. Progressives are still arguing over whether the current deal is good enough, and if there is a better strategy for winning more. But even the weakest deal under consideration, which already passed the Senate this weekend, will insure 30 million more people and outlaw insurance companies refusing coverage for pre-existing conditions. By any measure that's a victory for our side. ( support our work for quality, affordable health care for all. )
And yes, there is still a daunting amount to do.
A few days ago Rep. Alan Grayson of Florida read your petition opposing the escalation in Afghanistan on the floor of the U.S. House. Meanwhile we delivered the almost 100,000 signatures — including thousands of TrueMajority members — alongside veterans and other anti-war activists. (If you haven't already, check out the video of Rep. Grayson and some of the veterans we worked with saying 'THANKS' to TrueMajority/USAction members for their support.)
But our signatures alone aren't going to be enough. Progressive champions in the House are ready to oppose the $1 trillion cost of the escalation, but there simply aren't enough of them yet. We need your support to convince more members of Congress to demand an end to the war and a plan to bring everyone home. Donate now to make that possible.
In 333 days we've done some remarkable work, but we've also learned this year that the fight for change is a marathon, not a sprint.
Thanks again for a great year
-Ben, Chris, Darcy, Drew, Matt,
and the whole team at TrueMajority / USAction
The problem I think requires attacks on multiple fronts, we need a cohesive strategy to cripple the left at every opportunity and to take advantage of every weakness.
Running candidates that are truly versed in and stand up straight with no apologies for constitutional principles regardless of the level of government should be the first step. I think the tea party needs to quickly determine what the means or risk the results of an unfocused .
What a candidate can do regardless of power (or lack thereof) to promote similar candidates?
Corruption…….Investigate, uncover, once sure publicize regardless of the fallout or the party.
Administrate……Under constitutional guidelines (federal then state) and make no apologies for it.
Power…………..Use every bit you have to undo what the left has done if possible, if you can't stop them, slow them down, if you can't do that expose them
Draw up contingency plans, if we win the house what can we realistically do, etc. There really needs to be a clearing house of ideas that represent top to bottom strategy and tactics.
I agree, however, even when the media covers out protests, they do so in the most negative way they can manufacture. How do we combat that? It's ming boggling that there is SO MUCH blatant corruption, yet the media does nothing.
Same here. Not only Illinois but the most corrupt county in Illinois. Cook County (or more approprietly Crook County) is lost. I have never felt more helpless. It seems that nothing we do makes any difference.
DNC and ROP support socialism idea. The progressive ideas are obsolete. Progressivism will not build the new future. Democrats & Republicans are obsolete. These parties are ruining this country. They are spineless, self-serving, arrogant and cold-heart bureaucracy. The people control the government not government control people.
What a great idea. If the cameras won't come then go where the cameras are.
A third party is a wasted effort that will have the opposite of the desired effect but local tea parties endorsing candidates in primaries and elections, assuring that primaries offer choices even against incumbents and working to hold those elected accountable from election to election will work to restore American values. If this effort fails I'm afraid that we may see a national confrontation that could destroy the country.
I have been "tea partying" with a handful of people for 8 years now, watching our local school board and administration use our tax dollars to enrich themselves, and "buy loyalty".
http://www.lovejoyschools.com
The school board and adminstration have convinced the locals that those who ask for accountability are out to destroy Lovejoy ISD for fighting for the right to vote, for requesting that the administration notify ALL voters of the election and for raising a stink when school board members gave each other no-bid contracts.
That is the tip of the iceberg. It gets much worse, but would take a novel to write it all.
Luckily we have worked hard to elect a majority of honest decent council people in the city of Lucas.
Please make sure you don't throw the baby out with the bath water!
There ARE good elected officials.
Risk-averse, not adverse.
I think it is important to get involved locally and start to change things from the ground up, BUT I think Washington is moving us so rapidly towards a completely different form of government that we don't have ten years to get a new kind of people into local offices and build on it. That can and should be happening in the background, but we need serious national action here and now. Time is not on our side.
What we are lacking is a very strong and dedicated national leader, maybe the likes of which this country has not seen before. I'm thinking Andrew Breitbart…. Cohesiveness and leadership are desperately needed, and we sure won't get it from the GOP. Draft Breitbart:)
You need to write "financial contribution" on the outside of the envelope…. And enclose a copy of the check you wrote to his CONSERVATIVE opposition.
I'm a Missourian, and I have dedicated my life until 2012 to defeating that lying cretin Claire McCaskill. Fiscally conservative, my big ass.
Just like ACON, many members of the House and Senate are commiting acts of Tax Evasion, Voter Fraud, and Prostitution!
Glenn Beck is doing a great job! He said that he was going to be a speaker at the next one in Washington!!
Now, there's an idea I like!!
Recall Sen Nelson? He certainly stopped working for the interest of his constituents.
The only way we are going to get anywhere is to strike.
Shut down your spending. Use what you save to pay off debts. Try to get by with as little as possible for a while. Don't generate taxable income if you can avoid it. If you own a business, start laying off people (begin with Obama voters) and don't expand.
Take time off. Don't work overtime. Don't buy from GM or Chrysler especially, and don't patronize Citibank and these other money-suckers. And for God's sake don't EVER vote for any of these damned parasites again.
Take every tax deduction to which you are entitled. Start a small business and write off everything. Sell any assets in which you have a loss and deduct it. Don't sell winning positions.
Keep this strategy up for a year and we can force them to back down.
I am honored.. Marry me !
I went out to many tea parties and voiced how I feel. Sent letters and emails to my representatives in both houses. This treatment of the average, hard working American is just disgusting. These elected officials don't care about us or the people they represent, all they care about is how this will be written in the history books in the future. The left calls us Tea Baggers, Rednecks, Astor-Turf, Terriorists, just to name a few. We are only stating how we feel and what is right for this country. What happens when we do this, beat downs, insults etc for what, just letting our politicians know we are now paying attention and wanting something done about the corruption and non transparency in the White House. I have worked since I was 17 years old I'm now 56 and am proud for what my husband and I have accomplished over the last 35 years and for what just to be called Astor Turf. This is just typical of the left wing and their agenda. They want to tear down what our founding fathers have done, rewrite the constitution to what they want. All I can say is we need someone what will stand up for us in 2012 for president and 2010 we need to vote out all of these socialists that want to "Spread the Wealth" and get back to business on the kind of country our fore-fathers envisioned.
Its all about State's rights, the federal government is long gone never to return. We must empower the states
YADTEAS ("Yet Another Delusional TEA Screed")
The vast majority of Americans support a mixed economy; most Republicans support things like SocSec. The TEA message only resonates with a small number of people, mostly former Ron Paul supporters, libertarians, and other fringe groups.
Further, the "partiers" have shown time and time again that they just aren't smart enough. It was the Party leaders who told you to go wave loopy signs or "storm" Congress. Their plans failed; why listen to their new plans when they've shown how incompetent they are?
In the same vane, lets also not forget the following: "It's not the people who vote that count. It's the people who count the votes." (Josef Stalin).
That is the philosophy of one of the lefts biggest benefactors, George Soros. Take a look at his "Project Secretary of State" or ProjectSOS (Google it. Read the site. Its scary) . The left knows, as we have seen from the Minnesota rulings (Sec State of MN is one of Soros' successes) , that it is more important to control how the vote is counted. We can't let any more of the local Secretarys of State offices go to the left!
I totally agree with your thinking. We won't forget how hard working Americans have been treated. This is a major turning point in our country's history. Obama wanted to change this country, well I don't like the change he is trying to do to it. He wants it all to be on one level, no rich people, no poor people, no middle class, maybe he is trying to create another class of people. Well to my knowledge only the businesses and wealthy people create jobs not the poor. Big Government is not good at all. or Government run healthcare, my friend in Canada is still waiting for an operation and it's been 6 months, I don't want any government agency telling my doctor how to run his practice. It should start at the local level, this is where the average folks live and work..
PROTEST THE PRESS. Get in their faces. Disrupt their lives. Turn your camera on them. Don't ever stop and say "now they'll see the truth" because they're not going to.
The Dallas Tea Party is on it! We have several candidates running in various capacities throughout our membership, many of us are now deputy voter registrars. It starts here, NOW. November is too late people. We need to be in the PRIMARIES in March. No time to waste!
Ben Nelson Says:You're "Laughable" if You Oppose His Support for the Reid-Pelosi Health Care Bill
"This is all orchestrated," Nelson said Sunday. "It's so thinly disguised … it's almost laughable.”
Senator Nelson has sold out Nebraskans to the likes of Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, and Barbara Boxer – even hugging Boxer after negotiations. The medicaid issue was settled by noon on Friday, but the American people didn’t know about it till Saturday morning!
HELP RETIRE BEN NELSON:

Sorry I don't agree with that..I don't consider myself a fringe group, what I consider myself is a hard working American citizen that's tired of the government trying to decide what is best for me. I also feel what you call the partiers aren't smart enough well that is just down right insulting. Who I find incompetent is our elected leaders on both sides, we need strong leadership not someone that apologizes for this country. When you state it was the party leaders that told us to go and wave signs, well I disagree with that as well, No one tells me what to do when it comes to voicing my opinion, I want a strong country run by strong leadership and strong representation in both houses and both sides. Not the namby pamby reps we have now.
Let's see: how 'bout we just block their parking spaces at the studios? Block entrances to the Country Clubs where they hang out. Find out where Soros likes to party and block the entrance. Take away ALL of their candy. Sulzbacher can't stay home forever. Where's his favorite hangout? Let's just quietly have sit-ins everywhere THEY are.
They won't come to us, so we go to them. Let's have sit-ins at the local colleges that promote this bilge. Sit-ins at the government-run health clinics. Sit-ins at abortion clinics, ACORN offices, and the Census Bureau. Sit-ins at Congressional hang-outs. "Quiet riots." Lots of easy-to-read signs, smiling faces, and unflappable courage.
Let's bring daisies to place in the muzzles of the Cheka, er, Civilian Security Force rowdies who'll show up to rough us up.
Amen to that!!! That is my feeling exactly!!!
I must say I agree with this article and it will be up to us back home to make the difference from the local city council to the School Board up to the State legislature. Especially the latter. The States created this monster and they are the entity that will have to put a leash on it. It will take some Governors and Legislators with some real fortitude to begin saying enough. We just aren't enforcing that in our State and begin nullifying this Federal out of control monster.
Get yourselves involved locally.
MacWell…Amen to your comment as well. I am in total agreement with you and MiPain They are paying attention and running scared, why do you think they are doing this healthcare bill right before Christmas? They are doing it because everyone is caught up with getting ready for the holiday and they are hoping no one is paying attention to the things going on in Washington. Well we are paying attention and it seems to me when you have to be there until 1 am and possibly vote on Christmas Eve this tells me they want to get this done because come Nov 2010 they will be out of a job. I think we need term limits on these bozos we call our representatives, because they sure aren't representing me. We need to keep on them, no matter what, because if we back down now we may be speaking Cuban or Russian before Obama leaves office.
GOOD TIPS! Also, don't forget to cancel your paper media. If you can do it, cancel cable at least until 2010 election is over. CHECK OUT NEW HIGH GAIN ANTENNAE ON AMAZON. You can have a lot of TV programs for FREE. Also check out Hulu.
You can only win a war if you are willing to sacrifice more than your enemy is willing to sacrifice.
Civil War?
Maybe this article does indeed have some legs?…Obamao might very well be sending out his minions to start trouble in all quarters….We all know what "Organizing for Amerika" is capable of…hold power no matter what it takes…
Here is a great article for all of you patriots:
Tea Parties need BITE!
If you are planning on running for local office, BE SURE to understand how your Central Committee works. Both parties have them. They are the reason we keep getting senior citizens for Republican office (I am over SS retirement age, so I am not against senior citizens, just against SENIORITY). You can run for Central Committe with JUST 5 VOTES. Get Central Committee member names at local Republican office, but DON'T let them know why you want the info – just tell them you want to volunteer.
Remember all small business people, take out the trash, fire your liberal parasites first!
I am sorry to hear about your experience. I have been to local Tea Parties and to 9/12. Don't get discouraged. I will you could feel the kindred spirit on the Mall on 9/12. It would re-vitalize you.
Check out local Central Committees. You can be elected with just 5 votes. They are the groups that begin the nomination process for BOTH parties. God Bless you.
More copy-pasta, it's okay CT, a lot of folks are just like you, they can't write, spell, or think for themselves, you are not alone copy-pasta warrior!
We need to take over the Government again and TAKE AWAY the Perks and Privileges they have voted for themselves. Oh, and NO UNEMPLOYMENT benefits for unemployed politicians.
Stick to it Trisha, don't take the bait. The tea movement did NOT fail. Democrats failed to pull even the most fraudulent of republicans like Snowe into their health care plot, that's not a failure. Democrats fully own what they just passed, down to the 60th vote. That's not a failure, that's a win.
It's possible of course for people who are not employees to withhold their taxes. But what about those of us–MOST of us, I might add–who have our taxes withheld from our pay by law, and never even see it? We then fill out a tax return each April and effectively petition the government to refund to us whatever excess has been withheld. It's because of this that I don't see tax refusal as a very good way to stop this.
Or am I wrong? And if so, how?
How do you make a national party? You make 50 state parties and take the best talent in them. How do you make a state party? You make county/borough/parish parties and promote the best talent to the state. How do you make a county/borough/parish party? You make a municipal party and promote the best to the county. Any national movement that is going to be more than a flash in the pan is going to have municipal, county, and state parties to create the army needed to get the job done. Without the local people, the national people are overwhelmed, every time.
Sure they make a difference. They let people know that they're not alone. But without positive action to follow through, it's all going to wither.
Go to your local party of choice and see how they do things. Ordinary people can organize either inside the two party system as a local caucus or 3rd party if that's to your taste. The caucus route is easier in my opinion but the process is virtually identical outside of incorporation and administrative overhead in the 3rd party scenario.
Homeschool!
I like the idea of no deference. The old guard has sold its inheritance for a mess of socialist pottage. They deserve no respect they have not earned. They cannot be the best and the brightest when they hound out those who will not toe their politically correct line.
I think that ideas like the sunshinereview.org 10 point transparency checklist would be revolutionary if it would be taken up on the local/state level and would be something that would be attractive to tea partiers of all stripes. Imagine how hard corruption gets when all contracts and the checkbook are online so corrupt politicians always have to worry about the non-political retired CPA who decides that he's going to run an audit from his home.
The corrupt really do not want to have oversight, especially oversight that can be automated and run mostly computer to computer on a continuing basis.
It warms my heart to see so many like minded Citizens out there. 2 years ago I noticed that our local system has no regard for what the people thought much less wanted. After much prayer and deliberation I decided to make myself available. I began to run a campaign against the political elitist here in Alabama. It is a lonely road sometimes because everyone has been so focused on the National stage.
I have always believed the only way to control the Federal Gov't was to control our communities and our States. We must get our houses in order before we take on the Fed.
I have made myself available.

Seeing atrophied senators like Byrd and Kennedy make careers out of so called “public service” turns my stomach. These entrenched politicians are the root of all evil and corruption in our government.
What a timely article. My local Tea Party has recently been attending county commissioner meetings en masses, and in 2010 we have a goal of having a representative at every County, School and Municipal Board and Committee meeting. We are getting local front page coverage for our actions, and have the full attention of our local officials.
"In places like Missouri, we have allowed no more than 30 hardened progressives to dictate the tempo of the debate."
In places like Washington DC, we have allowe just 60 people to determine the fate of a trillion $$ or so and of the entire American public.
"City Council, County Board, Park Districts, and School Boards may not have the flash of State Representatives, State Senators or their federal partners, but, they are, indeed, perhaps more the important ."
They are, in fact, where the people we send to Washington come from. They're the places where people get to be State congressmen, state senators, governors, Presidents.
Remeber Nacy Pelosi? She became Mayor of San Francisco when Mayor George Moscone and that other guy were murdered.
The Left is willing to take a long-term view (regardless of what Harry does these days). They've been at this since the 40s. We conservatives need to do the same thing. Make 10-year plans. Make 20-year plans. It doesn't matter if Mr A gets to be Senator, just so long as Mr A lays the groundwork – by getting to be councilman, mayor, whatever, so that other people can follow in his footsteps, and perhaps stand on his shoulders.
The goal – long- and short-term is to make the Left once again irrelevant, and keep them from ever getting power again. If they want power, let them go to Columbia, Venezuela, places like that.

Chris Christie, Bob McDonnell, six of seven judgeships in PA, Marco Rubio, Doug Hoffmann and many local races. The Tea Party candidates are out there and they are winning most races. The tea party movement transcends local politics.
Recently in Austin, Tx. property tax $$$$ went to a $450,000 grant to three Abortion clinics. The local govt needs to be replaced & this needs to be appealed….Just appaling
These tea-party weirdos still around? They make a lot of noise and they're entertaining but we still got 60 votes and all that money, effort, astro-turfing and misspelled signs accomplished squat. We still got the 60 votes.
Just look at the local level govt in Austin, Tx. $450,000 grant to three Abortion clinics that was funded with property tax $$$
We must not be dependent on heroes and leaders. They will be targeted for smearing or end up having feet of clay that drags down the movement when the MSM finds out (which they will make it their business to).

Good for you; keep up the good work!
We don't need 1 leader. That gives them someone to attack. We're doing OK. We may not win this battle over Healthcare, but we pushed their "deadline" by 4 months! That is astounding. Besides, everyone is drawn to different ideas and styles. Those who love Beck may hate Levin. Those who love Coulter may hate Malkin. I personally like to listen and get ideas from all the different voices. And there are also local leaders that we can pay attention to.
We had many leaders at our founding – Washington, Jefferson, Franklin and more that we'd have to look in history books to learn about (until the Progressives re-write history books). Over the years I have been collecting old grammar school history books – it's fun to see how ideas have changed. But now I think I may need them to teach my daughter a more accurate history than her school will teach her.

They were hippies, but they were also, for the most part RED DIAPER BABIES, whose parents were card carrying Commies and in some cases, their grandparents were REDS too.
Obama's maternal grandfather was a faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar lefty, so was his mother. His purported father's father was a Mau Mau supporters, his father was a SOCIALIST. His first black mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, was a card carrying COMMIE. And Barry says that when he went to college, he sought out Marxist?Commie profs and lefty/radical friends.
WHAT THE HELL DID ANYONE EXPECT HIM TO BE?
That was Travis Country Health District. The "fix" was in from the start.
But Austin is just as bad. If there is a looney, pro-abortion or environment issue to be pushed on the people, the city council will be there. i.e. A study due by next August on the need for more dirt roofs.
The Libs get this crap because they vote. More Conservatives need to step up and get to the polls!
Your vote is their term limit. It won't matter if we do insist, once in power, they will find ways to circumvent the loss of power, i.e., there will just be that many more lobbyist in DC. Hell, lobbyists are the real seat of government power. They do not represent us, but they send forth their paid-for congressional hacks to tax us.
Taxation without representation culminated in an interesting history lesson.
.
I agree! I heard him say it with his own voice!! People were so infatuated with his gift of gab, they paid no attention! The only way to get this criminal is with HIS OWN WORDS!! Use them against him!!
Good for you, Lagwolf! And you're absolutely right about the "leader" stuff.
You're extremely uninformed; not to mention an idiot. Go away troll.

If the polls in 2010 and 2012 are covered by conservatives who are fed up with the corruption and can amass enough numbers to off set the evils of the Democrats, Sorros bunch, ACORN etc. we have a chance to get in and change some of the laws that have been passed thus far. It will take mass numbers to get these evil Bastards out of our WHITE HOUSE and set the country back on track. Please, Please people of good moral fiber please run for office if you think you can make a difference on every state level including the school board, county seat and state representatives. Enough with the unions, corruption, back door politics, lies and scandals.
I feel if parents realized what they were spending thousands of dollars on …..so that their impressionable teen ager would turn out to be a like minded Marxist they would place their child in Military school. I see young people come in to my office all the time and make some lame comment about hating the "Republicans" or how the early settlers of this country mistreated the Indians or had slaves and how bad we are, I'm sick of this crap, Parents start paying attention to what your child is told in elementary, high school and college. Confront the teachers and threaten to take your child out of that school if the Anti-American rhetoric doesn't stop!!!!!!!!!
Use their own words against them and when needs be, their own tactics !
The MSM did their very best to keep everything about Obama hidden and that was criminal; though not punishable, sadly !
I too heard Barry say a whole lot of things about himself. Unfortunately, the vast majority of those who voted for him, didn't know a damned thing about him, didn't hear a word he said, and wouldn't have cared, if they had.
I agree Lynn. I'm familiar with what's going on in Cuyahoga Cty. and it's about time all the corruption is stopped. We now need to take this to all the big cities where Democrats are so entrenched into the system! Look at Cleveland — since the Democraps have been in control the city has become a ghost town, filled with drug addicts and crime. It's very sad!
Sen Coburn makes me proud to be a Republican. Not One member of Congress or the Senate voted for this Healthcare bill. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS.
We have to stop throwing stones at our Republican leaders and give them guidance. They are fighting hard and Chuck U Shummer is different then Jim DeMint. If we can't make that distinction we're all screwed.

Term limits are meaningless. It's just not that simple.
We have term limits in California and our government is still run by a series of political hacks. I'd rather have the chance to keep one decent representative in office.
It's policy and accountability that matter.

You are onto something, flapper! This is something we need to do! No manufactured signs, no silly chants – just plain-spoken, logical, clear thinking Americans IN THEIR FACE. I love it!

Basically, what we have right now is a clear cut case of "Taxation Without Representation." The majority of We The People have spoken, only to be ignored by Washington. Just as our forefathers broke King George's laws protesting this very issue, we would need to break the law in order to send a message strong enough to get the government's attention. We need strong leadership and organization to make our points and to protect our numbers. We must not venture out individually on this path.
Our greedy employees in the legislature seem to sit up and take notice whenever money is mentioned. I think the most effective way to send our message would be to organize and stage a "Vast Taxpayer Conspiracy" whereby, as a large group, we refuse to pay our taxes. Perhaps those employees who have taxes withheld automatically could arrange to claim the maximum number of deductions.
I find it hilarious, actually, that the consistent advice is to "don't go creating a third party". Instead of challenging corrupt laws that keep out third parties, instead of making the election system fair to all comers, the advice you give is "don't rock the boat"? That's a principled solution, alright. Yes, we're angry about corruption, but hey, let's not fight a huge mess of it because it's too hard? Uhm, you lost me right there, and I suspect quite a few other folks who don't think that the Republican party is worth anything anymore.
One Republican Congressman voted "yes". He was from Louisiana.
NO. NO. NO! While the tea party movement is popular as a platform of principles, I wholeheartedly and outright reject ANY notion of ANY kind of talk of forming a 3rd party. I refuse to be lulled into that trap. And I urge others to also be wary of the temptation. Speaking for myself, I stand for conservative values within the Republican party, rooting out the Dem-lites, the moderates and the rino's. Any deviation will only spell certain doom for all of us. THE SELF-GRATIFICATION YOU WILL GET FROM A 3RD PARTY WILL ONLY LAST UNTIL THE FIRST RESOUNDING DEFEAT AT THE POLLS AT YOUR FIRST ELECTION. THERE ARE 300 MILLION PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO GET A MAJORITY BY MAKING A 3RD PARTY. YOU WILL HAVE DEMOCRATS STANDING OVER US FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES!
In Bel Air, MD we saw this coming and my friend Steve formed the Patriots Corner Club to Stand Up For Freedom at a corner near us to take back our nation one corner at a time. Join us on a corner and read and view a video on how we do it at patriotscornerclub.ning.com
As seductive as that sounds, 3rd party candidates have always lost by huge margins. I think it boils down to Conservative vs. Progressive. As many pundits have articulated, the Republican party is still the way to vote; they are still primarily Conservative. We just need to get rid of the "Rinos" (Republican in name only).
"After night comes the dawn"
Come on they're just hippies, we were busy working in spite of them.
Now we are paying attention, you know like when a mosquito bites you what do you do?
People blame the "white flight" on a lot of things but it all comes down to taxes and fees. Cleveland is not business friendly at all. So much bickering and corruption no one wants to stay in the city anymore. The state isn't much better, we are the third largest tax burdened state in the country. NY and CA are the only two with higher taxes. Strickland is running scared and our State Senate has defied the Supreme Court three times to fund the schools in a more equitable and fair way. I sent a letter to the State Attorney General and asked why the Senate hadn't been arrested. I sent copies of the letter to state reps too. I never quite understood why they got so nervous. LOL
First take back the school boards.
Then take back the schools from the unions.
This article does make an interesting point and it came immediately to mind that Conservatives need their own style of ACORN. Don't get me wrong here. I am not talking about a paid organization of corrupt welfare recipients doing the dirty work of their superiors. I am simply assuming the usefulness of Conservatives organizing at a ground roots level to thwart what has apparently become a socialist takeover of our country. Just a thought…..
One option to consider is the growing GOOOH movement ….GOOOH stands for "Get OUT Of OUR HOUSE" ..A plan to replace all the memebers of the house of representatives with ordinary citizens…Check out the website !! GOOOH is starting to get national attention…
PROBLEM BEING …………we TRUE AMERICAS are at work busting are ass to pay for the welfare rats, hence we do not have the time to get out and acorn…you see those welfare rates are protesting on our DIME.
The people need to take their government back and rehaul how things work. Background checks before a candidate can go on the ballot (including finances….how are these guys getting so wealthy when the job doesn't pay that much??), Term Limits, no big perqs, and no cushy packages for their retirement. They get SSI just like everyone else. And the same healthcare.
And we have to do something about the voters too….there has to be some minimum IQ or understanding of basic civics and current affairs that has to be a standard. We can't just let every braindead moron vote and have this much power over the country. In the days of our Founding Fathers only landowners could vote because they knew what allowing the uneducated would do to the country. And we are seeing their wisdom vis a vis today's elections. We are turning into a Banana Republic.
Can you arrange for the buses?
I've been doing video coverage of the St Louis Tea Party Coalition for most of 2009. You can sit on your couch and consume the news or you can go outdoors (and online) and produce it. Here are some tools and techniques used by myself and other St Louis Tea Party videographers.
We're building a nation of cameramen and YOU are the minuteman media.

Touche' Galt's Gulch.
I think it would be a big mistake to try to win as a third party. That was tried by Ross Perro (sp?) and the result was that Clinton took the office from Bush #1 (it's the old divide and conquer principle). What needs to happen is the Republican party needs to return to its Conservative roots and principles. And all members of the Republican party (this means all you registered voters) need to be very vocal about those Conservative principles, and we as a conservative party need to get out into the local neighborhoods and get people registered in the Republican party to vote the conservative values we stand on.
We also need to get more vocal at city council meetings, school board meetings, and state and national election campaigns. This isn't just a serge that we need to push for in the 2010 and 2012 elections. This has to be a life-long commitment for anyone and everyone who loves this country and wants to bring it back to it's true Constitutional splendor and prosperity.
My husband and I have been talking about the same thing, but the movement needs strong leadership and promotion.

You and I have been "singing the same song."
That very thing never ceases to amaze me. Yet they can tell you everything from the tabloids. That is not an accident, in my humble opinion. The progressiveliberals have been at this "takeover" for years, and part of it included "dumbing down" our educational system.
The time has come for all the Tea party members, 9/12 memebers, what few honest republicans and democrates to become one. Join forces now…..tomorrow is to late just look…..we can't wait any longer. we have to stand togather and bring the honesty and values back that this country has lost. The same values and honesty in the people we voted in has lost. Where has the honor and pride gone when you have to buy votes and vote for them in the cover of darkness. Do they not have any shame! They know in their own minds its wrong. its time now to act…….and to say to them……2010 election are coming, and MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOUR SOULS!!!!!!!!!!!! But look on the bright side, with the president extended unemployment you might be able to get some too!

I am frequently in an environment with 20-30-something Ivy Leaguers. They prattle about "diversity" but their intellectual conformity is amazing. They all want to save the world working for non-profits or becoming academics and they just dont get where the money comes from. They are easily manipulated by pushing their "white oppressor" guilt buttons. Since people have been telling them how bright they are their whole short lives, they have no idea how much they dont even know that they dont know. Of course they think Sarah Palin is stupid and dangerous.
Want to be heard? Don't file your income taxes next year. Organize THAT and you will find them listening.
betsybounds: Please read my comment on page 4, where I attempt to address your question.
Look to how Sarah Palin did it. She started at PTA level, cleaned that and then moved higher and higher. You can do no worse than to emulate the successful…
The most important strategy is to take over the two major parties at the local level, in the spring. Then, push and push very hard to end the national level control between the spring and the fall. It will require a door to door effort. Talk to your releatives, co-workers, friends and yes, even your enemies. These are methods that ACORN has used for years and anyone can use them. The two kids that exposed ACORN used them. They are called Salinsky's "rules for radicals" and they are easy to use.
Jim demint was on the senate floor last night calling the dems out for changing the rules of the senate to pass healthcare – did you know a provision was written in that denies future reps/senators the right to repeal or change the law? this needs to be found in the c-span records and made public. this is worse than the health bill itself – contact demint now – this needs to be public knowledge.
It took decades for the progressives to infiltrate all the positions of power. It won't take that long for conservatives to take those positions back. Why? Because there are more conservatives by far. Don't forget the other positions of power; other than elected office. Professors of Universities, Principals of Schools, the Media, Schools of Theology, Non-profits. All of these must be retaken. These is a job for everyone, of every talent, of every age level. So get going, NOW! You will be surpeised how fast it will happen.

A similar procedure was adopted in the United States of America in response to the actions of isolationist senators who attempted to talk out, or filibuster, a bill to arm U.S. merchant ships. President Woodrow Wilson urged the Senate to change its rules to thwart what he called a "little group of willful men", to which the Senate responded by introducing cloture in the form of Rule 22 on March 8, 1917.[1] Cloture was invoked for the first time on November 15, 1919,[2] during the 66th Congress, to end filibuster on the Treaty of Versailles.[3]
The cloture rule originally required a supermajority of two-thirds of all senators "present and voting" to be considered filibuster-proof.[4][5] For example, if all 100 Senators voted on a cloture motion, 67 of those votes would have to be for cloture for it to pass; however if some Senators were absent and only 80 Senators voted on a cloture motion, only 54 would have to vote in favor.[6] However, it proved very difficult to achieve this; the Senate tried eleven times between 1927 and 1962 to invoke cloture but failed each time. Filibuster was particularly heavily used by Democrat Senators from Southern states to block civil rights legislation.[7]
In 1975, the Democratic Senate majority, having achieved a net gain of four seats in the 1974 Senate elections to a strength of 61 (with an additional Independent caucusing with them for a total of 62), reduced the necessary supermajority to three-fifths (60 out of 100). However, as a compromise to those who were against the revision, the new rule also changed the requirement for determining the number of votes needed for a cloture motion's passage from those Senators "present and voting" to those Senators "duly chosen and sworn". Thus, 60 votes for cloture would be necessary regardless of whether every Senator voted. The only time a lesser number would become acceptable is when a Senate seat is vacant. (For example, if there were two vacancies in the Senate, thereby making 98 Senators "duly chosen and sworn", it would only take 59 votes for a cloture motion to pass.) [6]
The new version of the cloture rule, which has remained in place since 1975, makes it considerably easier for the Senate majority to invoke cloture. This has considerably strengthened the power of the majority, and allowed it to pass many bills that would otherwise have been filibustered. (The Democratic Party had held a two-thirds majority in the 89th Congress of 1965, but regional divisions among Democrats meant that many filibusters were invoked by Southern Democrats against civil rights bills supported by the Northern wing of the party.) Some senators wanted to reduce it to a simple majority (51 out of 100) but this was rejected, as it would greatly diminish the ability of the minority to check the majority.
The three-fifths version of the cloture rule does not apply to motions to end filibusters relating to Senate Rule changes. In order to invoke cloture to end debate over changing the Senate Rules, the original version of the rule (two-thirds of those Senators "present and voting") still applies.[8]
The procedure for "invoking cloture," or ending a filibuster, is as follows:
A minimum of sixteen senators must sign a petition for cloture.
The petition may be presented by interrupting another Senator's speech.
The clerk reads the petition.
The cloture petition is ignored for one full day during which the Senate is sitting (If the petition is filed on a Friday, it is ignored until Monday, assuming that the Senate did not sit on Saturday or Sunday.)
On the second calendar day during which the Senate sits after the presentation of the petition, after the Senate has been sitting for one hour, a "quorum call" is undertaken to ensure that a majority of the Senators are present.
The President of the Senate or President pro tempore presents the petition.
The Senate votes on the petition; three-fifths of the whole number of Senators (sixty with no vacancies) is the required majority; however, when cloture is invoked on a question of changing the rules of the Senate, two-thirds of the Senators voting (not necessarily two-thirds of all Senators) is the requisite majority.
After cloture has been invoked, the following restrictions apply:
No more than thirty hours of debate may occur.[9]
No Senator may speak for more than one hour.
No amendments may be moved unless they were filed on the day in between the presentation of the petition and the actual cloture vote.
All amendments must be relevant to the debate.
Certain procedural motions are not permissible.
The presiding officer gains additional power in controlling debate.
No other matters may be considered until the question upon which cloture was invoked is disposed of.
The ability to invoke cloture was last attained by a US political party in the 111th Congress, by the Democrats, with the help of two independents.[10]

Yes, we will have to get our hands dirty to throw the criminal class out of office and regain control of this country and the Constitution.. We may even have to get our hands bloody.

Why can't we demonstrate AND do what we can at home?

Leonard Read, the Founder of FEE, used to say “Improve you before trying to improve others.” It is embarrassing to argue with someone who appears to know more and grinds you into the dust. Yet, in politics, it is easy to find the roots of all arguments and see how issues follow those roots. That’s what I’ve tried to provide on claysamerica.com. If you know the roots, where the yellow brick road begins, you know better how to reach the conclusions you seek. You can take a reasoned position without passion and injury. Try it and see. Lynn B, I actually had a similar experience, only it was Republican vs. Republican to replace a statewide legislative seat. There was a "lobbyist" candidate that is career politician working for a big firm VS. a "local business-owner" candidate that is pro-liberty, small government, pro-people candidate. The second guy won hands down, elected by the the precinct officials, against the party chairman's wishes. I, along with another, was made an example of and fired from my precinct post with the county party, losing my voting powers. Unfortunately, I lost my vote, but I only hope the people that did not lose their vote send a message and vote this chairman out so i can participate again. Until then, I can't directly participate in Republican voting.
A good reason to use your influence to make a noise in your community. Write an open letter to the editor of the local paper. Stand for what's right and make a noise about the party hacks. Help them send that message.
The whole situation was actually pretty humorous. The party leadership made themselves look like real turkeys in the way they handled things. I was pretty much able to stay above the fray of looking petty while the local bloggers had my back, all in favor of what I stood for. I'm actually more of a "behind-the-scenes" activist and don't get much into blogging or writing.
This sounds to me just like what the Democrats want us to do……don't make a BIG SCENE!! Just go home. They KNOW JUST HOW EFFECTIVE those MASSIVE rallies were and would just as soon we would no show up on the capitol. Well….don't listen this nonsense. Yes we must have a LOCAL, grassroots movement…..but showing up EN MASSE at the White House and Capitol needs to be done repeatedly. The Media and politicians can ignore it for only so long. Don't let the ninnies and naysayers shut you up.
This sounds just like what the Democrats and media want you and me to do…..just shut up and go home. They KNOW how effective the MASSIVE RALLIES were having…despite the media refusing to cover them and even ridicule them. Don't let these ninnies tell you that these HUGE rallies on the Capitol aren't effective. They refused to listen to us at the town halls and refused to listen to us on the steps of the Capitol, but they are scared to death and want you to shut up and not do any more of these MASS rallies. Yes we must be LOCAL and grassroots, but don't let ANYONE sell you short on how much the MASSIVE TEAPARTY rallies on the White House and Capitol steps are having. We need to keep them up often and bigger still. Can't wait till spring and summer. BIGGER THAN EVER.

No way we're giving up the battle on any front. I reject your hypothesis that we should just go home. We're gearing up to attack from all sides. Bottom up is already moving forward. Why not try to cut off the head of the snake at the same time? Media no longer has boundaries, so why not come at them from everywhere. Protests in Washington got the attention of the public all year long. We are absorbing the tactics of our sworn enemy to gain power. If they want to play nasty, find out what the people that are armed to the teeth, pissed off and living between the coasts can do when pushed. The masses of people have been sitting for a long time, while slowly getting nibbled to death. At some point the giant slimy snake from Washington is going to get it's last bite, and the masses are going to have "Whacking Day." Its coming from all sides.

the problem with any revolution is organization, or the lack thereof. Organizing protests is great, making groups on facebook, writing blogs, all these things are excellent, but what we need is organization. We need a leader who is willing to stand up and face the wrath and whose motivations are not politically inclined so that we're all just not just pawns to suit their own agenda. We need all the protests to hit them where it hurts by reminding them that the Silent Majority is speaking up and not going to back down. We have to stand as a united front and be willing to lose it all to defend our country's constitution. Whether that means revolutionizing the Republican party to weed out all the RINO's and to make sure they sincerely have conservative interests at heart, maybe that means recruiting tea partiers and other conservatives to be in a Constitutionalist Party. One thing is for sure, if we don't unite and stand together as one vocal opposing body, we're going to lose the way of life our forefathers fought so hard for us to have. A revolution needs to happen and it needs to happen now. People like Glenn Beck are powerful resources. Breitbart is another. But it's up to us to get this information out. Write blogs, organize protests within your community, form a network where we can all be connected and form rallies and protests they cannot ignore.
Once again these are the times that try mens' souls. We need to organize to defeat the tyrannical bill that is being forced down our throats. And we could use the TEA parties to organize at the grassroots level to help in this matter. If we could organize nationwide toward a Constitutional amendment to limit terms in both houses, this would remove the Dems power play. Once we regain both houses, we can undo the mess we find ourselves in now. Just a thought. You are right , I have been preaching anti obamaism since before he got elected. Everyone then said I was a kook. Those same people now realize they were taken for a ride. I notice a huge difference in the air. I'm talking about a fairly large group of union construction workers that want the current administration gone. The army is growing much faster than they know.
Retard
Yeah…I have to agree with you. In retrospect, my comment was kind of retarded.
Fantastic post! Just linked this on FB to my friends at Flint Hills Tea Party/Manhattan KS… we've already begun some of these *exact* steps here. Despite being blessed to live in a very "Red" state, we are determined to stop any further slide leftwards… we had members present in DC on 9.12, and we will return for 9.12.2010! Nationwide, there is so much to accomplish, but it all starts at home!

We have to start by getting back control of our school's, college's and university's curriculums. The Liberal Arts are almost and official arm of the Democrat party. The conservative-bashing history and leftist propaganda taught there is creating the next generation of leftist Democrat voters emasse. It may already be too late. I have worked for colleges and schools for over 30 years, 8 years as a teacher. I know what I'm talking about. Students never hear anything but the leftist message. When I go to local Republican meetings, I'm in disbelief how off the rails members are to the dangers coming from our educational system. Wake up and smell the vile indoctrination poison in our educational system and do something about it. Start with the textbooks, the curriculum and demand that more conservative teachers be hired, starting in the Liberal Arts. The percentage of Leftists there is a form of overt discrimination against conservatives. Educational systems have become little more than hate movements against conservatives and their values.
It may take more than votes to change the course of things happening now. Only 3% of the population had the guts to stand against the King and fight for freedom. Can we afford to wait for 2010 or 2012 and watch our country being destroyed and turned into a socialistic experiment in stupidity?

I type this as a localist. A libertarian-leaning decentrailist. And all I can say is: bull shit. Whoever wrote this doesn't know a god damn thing about local politics.
Progressives are not taking over local governments, except where progressives have always had power. In a multitude of communities across the country, conservatives hold power. Except that, like anybody who adheres to the Republicocrats, they're blinded by party loyalty and totally disloyal to their communities.
Could we show our strenght in this fashion; chose one day, boycott all businesses that hire hourly wage earners, fast-food chains, Wal-mart, etc.,.. This could teach many of the electorate how capitolism really works. Bosses could let them see exatly who is buttering thier bread.

We need to stop talking about whether the Tea Party movement or the 2010 election will change things, and start doing the hard work to make sure that it does.
That means getting engaged in volunteer work and fundraising to support better candidates early in the primary process, and to make sure between now and August that they have such a commanding lead through widespread and enthusiastic popular support that we flip the balance of power in both the House and Senate in November. That means organizing voters between now and July 4 like an unstoppable train that is going to blow the Democrats off the rails in a truly horrific, unprecedented, crushing election defeat.
We need to make sure that all future comparisons are not to 1980 or 1994, but rather that future generations will remember 2010 as the turning point.
Stop talking about it, and go for it in your own district! Make it your job to ensure their defeat.
Don't miss the National Tea Party Convention in Nashville, Feb 4-6.
As we go into the 2010 primary election cycle, let's learn from each primary how to do better in the next one, and then put it all together for a massive victory in November. We need to build a solid base of support behind better candidates before the August recess – so that the inevitable attacks of October will seem like acts of desperation by worthless losers who will do or say anything to try to stay in power. The time to defeat them is NOW – not in the fall. They need to start seeing effective campaigns right now which will ensure their defeat in November. That is the only way that we can limit the damage which Congress is still perpetrating through legislative atrocities.
GO
Sep 4, 2009
There is a solution to this mess. It is called GOOOH (go), a non-partisan plan to repalce all 435 members of the U.S. House of Representatives. It will
1) sever the ties with special interest money
2) break the stranglehold the two parties have on our elected leaders
3) fire the career politicians
4) put accountability into the process
The only "plank" in the non-partisan platform is term limits.
Check out http://www.GOOOH.com
We don't need the DNC or RNC to use OUR money to BUY votes.
