ObamaCare: HCAN Proudly Suppressing Dissent

I went with Joel Pollak to Rep. Jan Schakowsky’s town hall meeting on August 31, 2009. I didn’t expect to see anything outrageous, just wanted to see how she would handle real people with real concerns. Joel wasn’t a candidate at that point, just a constituent. What we saw there, however, pushed him to challenge Jan Schakowsky for the privilege to represent the people of the 9th district of Illinois.
We got there two hours early, and a long line had already formed, so we dutifully took our places at the back. ”Health Care for America Now” organizers (HCAN) were walking up and down, passing out lapel stickers to everyone there. The line was already packed with Schakowsky’s supporters, who had been told to come early to fill up the place before people got off work and came over.
We conveniently made ourselves unavailable whenever they passed by. I didn’t want to take a sticker, but I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it either. Since I was surrounded by stickered people, I knew that my refusal would start something. I hadn’t come to cause problems, just to watch.
Eventually, a lead organizer came by with not just stickers, but advice for how to drown out any dissenting views that might be expressed at the town hall. We had a Flip camera with us, just in case, but weren’t filming the line. As soon as the organizer came over, he started to talk about the “tea baggers.” Given how loaded that word is, we figured we might as well start the video.
The organizer goes on to explain that the “tea baggers” might ask questions, and if that happens, the HCAN supporters are to stand up, block them with their illicitly brought in signs, and chant “Health Care Now! Health Care Now!” He concludes by telling the HCAN supporters “It’s your meeting. Hold on to your meeting.” Of course, we were under the impression that it was a meeting about the concerns of the 9th district voters, not an operational exercise in Stalinist conformity.
What is so shocking as you watch the video is how casually he explains all this. It’s so completely normal to him, that he says it very nonchalant and matter-of-fact. We’re standing there, with a flip camera pointed at him, not wearing HCAN stickers. The camera is practically in his face, he knows we’re taping. Apparently he sees nothing wrong with astroturfing and encouraging his people to drown out opposing view points. Is that democracy in action?

Careful where you point that camera. While you're out there doing the media's job, if any of those folks get recorded without their knowledge you might find yourself on the receiving end of a DA's investigation.
I guess a reasoned response with alittle logic and wisdom is beyond the mentality of "bussed in cheerleaders"! I've tried having a discussion with the Code Pink clowns that tried to subvert the Nov.5 rally at the steps of the Capitol. These clowns don't have anything longer than what can be remembered from a bumber sticker at their intellectual disposal. Uber morons!

I can't believe that the left is being so blatant in their deceptive activity. Something doesn't sit well with me on any of this. They have to know they are putting political elections in 2010 in serious jeopardy, but it doesn't seem to phase them. With ACORN not being properly investigated, and the left scrambling to put all the blame on Andrew, James, and Hannah, I feel…….no, I'm convinced…that ACORN and it's cronies are working behind the scenes to fraud future elections.
Just the simple fact that ACORN is not being brought up on charges, the way a normal criminal organization would be in these circumstances, makes me think this.

Seriously, look up the use of apostrophes. They are used for contractions and possessives, not as plurals. I've thought this same thing for some time now. They just seem to TRULY not be concerned about 2010 at all. At this point, arguing the points with them and trying to convince them that these policies won't help the U.S. Citizenry is moot. They don't intend for any of these crazy actions to help anyone except themselves. The GOAL is collapse of our economy, people…it's NOT an unintended consequence of some naive utopian policy.

And who can forget this video where she proclaims her belief in a single-payer health care system and proudly states her goal of putting private insurers out of business, that this is not a principled fight and their strategy will get us to single-payer.

Jan Schakowsky's husband Bob Creamer was convicted of fraud for kiting checks and cheating millions of dollars out of banks and several contractors, all in order to prop up a shady non-profit organization he ran and for which Jan Schakowsky was a director while the fraud was being perpetrated. The fact that she was able to escape out of the whole mess with her political career intact is just appalling.
Jimmy Carter was certain he'd win in 1980, no matter how badly he'd mishandled the economy and Iran Contra. Why? Because he was convinced that Ronald Reagen was so far to the right that there was no way the American people would elect him.

Lets see here, (71%) of the our planets surface is covered by water, 29.2 % is land.
Of that 29% humans occupy less than 1% of that area.
Of the remaining 28% about 40% is pure wilderness.
14% is true desert and 15% has desert like characteristics.
9% is Antarctica. Most of the remaining 22% are agricultural areas.
There may be other areas with a human footprint of some kind but it is insignificant in any relation to global warming.
Forests and agricultural area are usually covered by trees, plants, and grasses all of which absorb CO2 and emit O2. Man made global warming just doesn;t add up.

I was at this Town Hall meeting also. I noticed that signs were going to be hustled in, so I questioned the door man to find out if this was allowed. He came back and said it was not. The huge box of "Obama" signswere then put to the side. When inside, I had t I tried my best to ask my question, but no amount of hand waving would get the attention of the people who were choosing. My guess is that they were instructed to pick the people with the stickers, I wish I should have taken one for that reason only.
I sat right in front of the bobble head (Lee Goodman) who ran against Mark Kirk for congress in 2004. He left halfway through. It must have been because of my enthusiastic responses when thanks would go out to the military.
At this point, I've given up on Holder doing the right thing….especially when you throw in the whole NYC trial for the Terrorists. I think it's about time we demand an investigation into Holder himself because he's clearly going outside the Constitution.
Actually, the Democrats are doing a good job of assuring their losses.

Lets write a bill that spends $1 billion on eliminating fraud. It would pay for itself within a year! Then go on saving us the money necessary to pay for the noninsured/underinsured.

HCAN is an interest group. HCAN is in no way affiliated with any political candidate, though they can endorse candidates. It's ridiculous to try to tie this to Obama, or any political candidate at all. It's not necessarily their policy.
Additionally, if I held different views from my representative and had genuine concerns, I'd want to get them out. It seems like we all agree on this point. It'd be pretty hard to ask my representative genuine questions if any group keeps chanting something over and over throughout the meeting, regardless of who is chanting and protesting. Notice how he says "teabaggers" and not "teabagger". That said, fighting chanting with chanting doesn't really help either. Then again, this is an HCAN representative and is in no way tied to any candidate, and I've come to expect no less from any interest group.
Pathetic? Yes. A Democrat scheme? Not necessarily.
