Because if that's the case you just know they'll fudge the numbers and not divulge the number of people who are still actually complaining. And while one can't argue the point that the resolution of a Complaint Free Wednesday would be a meaningful and powerful reminder to prepare for a day of gratitude, are we to believe that it would indeed be revenue neutral? Ha! People will stop complaining without federal funding? Not happening. Other than that, I've got no complaints.

My condolences. I live in Illinois. My Congressman has got his head screwed on right, but in the Senate we have Dim Dick Durbin and Roland "Tombstone" Burris, so I know what you're going through.

This would mean that all the members of this Administration would have to be locked in a room with duct tape over their mouths for the whole day! Plus all the democrats and the state run media would have to be likewise incarcerated and taped into silence. And on top of that, the internet, radio, television and all levels of government would have to do the same. Oooops! I am hoping for too much.

What really needs to happen is this politician needs to be fired. I agree with the sentiment that focusing on the negative does affect one's health and happiness. This country (and world) has been through FAR worse times and struggles in years past. Focusing on the future, keeping an optimistic mindset is how successful people (in business and in life) are made.

I called the White House Comment Line, both of my Senators and my Representative this moring and gave them all and earfull of what I felt they were doing wrong. None of them (their staffs anyway) seemed too concerned, but I also informed them that I have given my last dime to any of their campaigns and I have spoken my last word of support for any of them. In the future I plan to vote for only the person that fits my views as closely as possible and to actively keep them informed when they screw up. Congressman Cleaver feels that the right thing to do is to "shut up", but I have never been too much of a person for doing what the government tells me, especially when their direction is a violation of the 1st Amendment. So I for one will not be "shutting up".

And now, heeeeer's a new comedy (bill) called "Leave It To Cleaver!" … the hilarious effort (and waste of taxpayer money) to create a worldwide "Complaint Free" Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Did Clinton Really Give Bush A “Comprehensive Anti-Terror Strategy?”….

…..Finally, Richard Clarke himself debunked the story in a background briefing with reporters. He said he presented two things to the incoming Bush administration: “One, what the existing strategy had been. And two, a series of issues — like aiding the Northern Alliance, changing Pakistan policy, changing Uzbek policy — that they had been unable to come to any new conclusions from ‘98 on.”

A reporter asked: “Were all of those issues part of an alleged plan that was late December and the Clinton team decided not to pursue because it was too close to — ”

“There was never a plan, Andrea,” Clarke answered. “What there was was these two things: One, a description of the existing strategy, which included a description of the threat. And two, those things which had been looked at over the course of two years, and which were still on the table.”

“So there was nothing that developed, no documents or no new plan of any sort?

“There was no new plan.”

“No new strategy? I mean, I mean, I don’t want to get into a semantics — “

“Had those issues evolved at all from October of ‘98 until December of 2000?”

“Had they evolved? Not appreciably.”

In the same spirit of this bill I would like to propose Congress pass a resolution declaring the Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving "Complaint Filled Tuesday". I feel this would be a theraputic way to release all the negative energy that has built up inside of people, so that they can have a more meaningful and powerful experience on Complaint Free Wednesday. Also, it would make sure that Wednesday does remain entirely complaint free in the true spirit of the day. Additionally, as Rep. Cleaver states, this would lend to a true feeling of gratitude on Thanksgiving.

But then again, wasn't this already proposed on Seinfeld? The holday known as Festivus. Get out your grieving poles!

Personally, I love the idea of a complaint free day, and I've been wearing A Complaint Free World bracelet for more than year now. Complaining focuses attention on the problem instead of the solution. Don't like what's happening in government? Complaining on a blog or to your co-worker won't help. Put that energy to work to help find solutions in a postive, collaborative way. Believe me, it'll make you happier in the long run, and bring about solutions faster than grousing and pointing fingers all the time. Want to test it? How's your heart rate and stomach feel after reading and writing on these blogs? If you're angry, your complaining isn't working. Get off the computer and find a local organization to pitch and help come up with real answers.

Action and complaining are two very different things. Positive action taken with goals in mind doesn't need negativity and complaining to go along with it.
