HHS Chief Actuary on ObamaCare: Total Health Care Spending Will Go Up, Not Down
by Capitol ConfidentialRichard Foster, Chief Actuary for the Department of Health and Human Services’ Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, released this week to several Congressional offices a financial analysis of HR 3200, the House version of ObamaCare. He reached some inconvenient conclusions for President Obama and Congressional Leadership:
-“Total national health expenditures under this bill would increase by an estimated 2.7 percent in 2019…”
-“The additional demand for health services could be difficult to meet initially with existing health provider resources and could lead to price increases, cost-shifting, and/or changes in providers’ willingness to treat patients with low-reimbursement health coverage.”
-More than half of the expansion in coverage (18 million out of 34 million) would be from increased Medicaid coverage.
-12 million people would lose employer-sponsored coverage.
-The productivity adjustments to Medicare are “unrealistic” and providers “might end their participation” because the cuts would make serving Medicare beneficiaries unprofitable.
-Medicare Advantage enrollment would decrease by 64 percent (from a projected level of 13.2 million to 4.7 million under the proposal).
As of today, HHS still hadn’t published the analysis on their website, even though it was written by its own staff. We have a feeling it may never find a home there. So, we’ve brought it to you directly. Full financial analysis below.

Judging by the President's overblown rhetoric on the issue. an actuary is the LAST person he wants talking about the Democratic proposals. Apparently even one who they've paid for. Let's hope this guy doesn't get "Walpin"ned.
What is HHS?? This post is meaningless without acronym control.
Now let's see if MSM brings up O's "not one dime" promise.
Department of Health and Human Services.
As if this matters… This administration is clearly not interested in anything relating to fiscal soundness.
The fact that it will further impoverish us is probably a plus to them.
And this surprises, who?
This "reform" was never meant to fix anything. It was never expected to lower costs or premiums and from what we've seen has been just another excuse to increase tax "revenue" for the fed. More importantly this "reform" has been primarily an effort to increase governmental power.
Obama has already been recorded saying he prefers a single payer system. His cover was "I would prefer it but I won't force it". Meanwhile Pelosi and their ilk have been seeking to make health insurance mandatory. Then they will increase taxes on everything to do with health care including imposing a windfall tax on the insurance companies. But somehow after all these new taxes they expect premiums to remain as they are? Oh but wait they also want a "public option" whereby those who don't want to pay the higher premiums caused by excessive taxation can buy government subsidized insurance from some ACORN type entity they will create to funnel our taxes back to us. But it doesn't stop there. Without a doubt there will not be anything in the bill about allowing portability so the only portable insurance option will be the government "public" option. In addition to this Democrats have threatened to revoke anti trust exemptions for the insurance industry thereby offering the government an even greater advantage. With the health insurance industry itself being unable to coordinate their efforts against the government surely they will each wither and die trying to compete against the government who regulates them into non-existence.
I suspect that Richard Foster's career prospects in the Obamanation are now severely curtailed.
I think Our President has already made it quite clear that the time for debate is over. Team Mafiosobama will put its years of experience properly reorganizing communities to hash out any and all discrepancies. For example, most cost over-runs can be easily curtailed by eliminating health care coverage for enemies of the state.
Yes, we'll see how quick you are to voice your pathetic dissent when you risk paying with your life. Debate over – go to your rooms. And don't worry – Obama is smarter than you, and more merciful than you realize.
Stop fretting, my pets – Silly Season is almost over. And then you will come to fully appreciate the benevolence of your Great Government once again. Let the grand experiment begin!
They just spent a lot of money researching something that we could have told them all along. Common sense trumps IQ.
Please help me wake the youth up.

Government sponsored Health Care?
Here is a case AGAINST Government sponsored ANYTHING:
I jst spent some time today with an aquaintance of mine. He just turned sixty years old and is retired from GM (Government Motors) with thirty-five years of service. He gave his life working for GM, in exchange for what he thought would be a good retirement in his Golden Years. He was beside himself today; he just got a letter in the mail notifying that effective 1 January 2101, his insurance will no longer be in effect. Zero insurance. THAT is Barrack Obama is doing to this country. THAT is how Barrack Obama is running General Motors; he effectively, slowly and methodically wiping out the middle calss. By the time Obama is done, the dream of owning a home, the American dream, the dollar and your life will be worthless. You will BEG for euthanasia…………
We have an Oath Keeper contributing to our news articles, could everyone please give him a warm welcome and read his first article and post a comment

Costgoes up, the federal bureaucracy increases their power over us & politicians become tyrants. It's taxes that caused the American & French Revolution. If you want a good, underground book to read this winter, then get this one (A Time To Stand by Oliver). It's about a small town in America that fights federal tyranny & ends up starting the 2nd American Revolution. It's insightful & thriller. Just read it & see what's nxt for all of us over the following 3 years. Power to the People!!

This administration's goal seems to be collapsing the economy of this country. None of their programs are sustainable; the stimulus didn't provide the promised bang for the buck and health care won't be any different and they know it. Did Madoff write their business plan? This stinks of Ponzi Politics to me!

Stumbled across your post while searching through google. I read the first paragraph and its fantastic! I don’t have time to finish it now, but I have bookmarked this site and will read the rest later. : )
I hear you saying that you don't care whether people have decent health care? That you got yours through competitive advantages and gratitude. And the people who are not able to compete and afford the advantages that you have had don't deserve affordable or not any health care such as you might have? "Because America will go broke?"
America has been broke since Benjamin Franklin financed our War of Independence against the British If I'm not mistaken many of the Notes for payment have never been repaid. The American people wrote off the debt as a unified ideal an American Ideal from control and manipulation. Your voice of dissent is valid because it is what you feel. However, is the feeling based on fear or fact? Is your comments based on fact or hype?
This is exactly what I expected to find out after reading the title . Thanks for illuminating article.
Interesting blog you got here but I can’t seem to find the RSS button.
