ACORN’s GOP Supporters
by Capitol ConfidentialAssemblywoman Dede Scozzafava is not your typical Republican candidate. Running in a special election in upstate New York for the seat of departing Congressman John McHugh, she has, naturally, picked up the support of state and national Republican party officials. She has secured the full support of the National Republican Congressional Committee and that of its chairman, Texas Rep. Pete Sessions.
But, she has also picked up the support of the DailyKos, not a traditionally deep well of support for Republicans. Oh, and ACORN’s Working Families Party. Below is a memo Big Government obtained circulating among leaders of the conservative movement. It is from New York State Conservative Party Chair, Mike Long:

Donors to the Republican National Congressional Committee have a right to expect their support will help candidates who are broadly in accord with the Republican Party’s fundamental principles.
There is little doubt, in these lean times, Americans who make contributions to the NRCC would be shocked to learn their dollars are actually supporting the campaign of an unrepentant liberal who opposes the central achievements of today’s Republican Congressional delegation.
Yet that is exactly to sad a state of affairs we now confront. The NRCC is using the contributions of loyal Republicans across the country to fund the Congressional bid of Liberal New York State Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava.
Assemblywoman Scozzafava supports the Obama tax-and-spend Stimulus Package – - the same package the Republicans now in Congress unanimously rejected. She defends the kind of earmarked pork-barrel spending that cost Republicans so much credibility in the last election. She supports Big Labor’s card check attack on the secret ballot. And she twice voted to legalize gay marriage.
Assemblywoman Scozzafava wasn’t picked by the voters. Party bosses selected her, reportedly with the guidance and direction of the NRCC.
So, what is at stake here is more than the risk of electing yet another Arlen Specter-style liberal Republican. This is a battle about the soul and future of the Republican Party.
Some think the way to win elections is to mimic the Democrats, to offer the voters “liberal-lite” in hopes of finding accommodation with the Democrats and success at the polls.
The NRCC’s support for liberal Assemblywoman Scozzafava is a disturbing indication that the NRCC is test marketing a campaign message blurring the differences between the parties instead of principled opposition to the liberal Democrats’ agenda.
The “me-to” approach is both sure to fail politically and deeply dishonest to the NRCC’s core financial supporters. The donors who sacrifice to write checks to the NRCC don’t expect their efforts to be diverted to liberals like Assemblywoman Scozzafava.
Accordingly, while we are all friends of the NRCC, we reluctantly call for a moratorium on any financial contributions to the NRCC until that organization ceases support for Assemblywoman Scozzafava and clarifies its plans for candidate recruitment and support going forward.
There are great opportunities ahead for the Republicans in Congress. Those opportunities cannot be squandered by political miscalculations and a lack of faith in the central values of the Republican Party.
Sincerely,
Mike Long
Chairman, New York State Conservative Party
It isn’t mentioned in the memo, but Scozzafava has run for the state Assembly repeatedly with the endorsement of ACORN’s Working Families Party. The WFP was formed for the express purpose of pushing the Democratic party to the left. The principle-bending gymnastics involved for a Republican to seek out their endorsement are positively mind-boggling.
Count us as big believers in the “big tent’ theory of political parties. No matter how large you want to build your tent, though, it still has to be built on a solid foundation. You’d think Republicans could agree that ACORN’s Working Families party–based on what we know right now–wouldn’t have a place there.
Those of you who think a GOP return to the majority in 2010 will right what ails us should keep this in mind.

This is EXACTLY why the calls for a 3rd party are growing.
Assemblywoman Scozzafava is a progressive liberal plant in the Republican Party. Expect more of these kind of people plus, I would like to know how much she got paid by Acorn, SEIU and others? Pink slip headed her way.
Sessions should also be investigated and the National Republican Congressional Committee should be overhauled.
Thanks, CC.
Of course Mr. Long is right and I applaud him for seizing the opportunity to make his/their/our top(?) concern heard.
Flush out the RINOs.
RINOs = Progressive Republicans. Yes, they're in both parties.
Teddy Roosevelt who was no fan of individual wealth.
Arlen Specter, unprincipled home-seeker (Magic Bullet Theory author)
John McCain, anti free speech author of McCain-Feingold just to name one
Grahmnesty, McCain's butt boy
If they are for ACORN, then they are not true Republicans……or true Conservatives. Hell, if ANYONE is still for ACORN after all they’ve done, they need their head checked
It reminds me of those liberals who talk about how Republicans are “for” something Obama is doing, that they favor it. Those arent true Republicans either.
With all due respect I wholeheartedly disagree.
Reform from within is the way to go.
If only for the practical reason that the GOP has the phones, faxes, office space, infrastructure to operate.
Besides, there's no time for party building. Let's concentrate on taking out the trash.
Swap progressives for conservatives.
This is the Republican Party once again snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

I'm leaning third party too, but I've yet to find a credible third party except for the one Alan Keyes ran with. The remainder are either druggies (hi Libertarians) or cut-and-run isolationists.
If Republicans support big government, what the hell does it mean to be a Republican, anyway?
Wow – if DeDe is considered a Republican – who was she running against? Che Mao Il-Jongdinejad?
Wow – if DeDe is considered a Republican – who was she running against? Che Mao Il-Jongdinejad?
This is an out rage, no more RINO'S.
You cant really expect, though, for true conservatives to come from the east coast….or west coast for that matter. They call them “liberal Republicans”……….more liberal, than Republican
Please don't get pulled towards third-party thinking! It's exactly what the libs are hoping for to help split votes and get their messiah re-elected in 2012. We need to start hammering our current Republican officials to be more principalled and less political. They will always get the votes if they show passion and integrity; something that seems to be lacking with many of our current office holder (i.e. McCain, Graham) Joe Wilson, Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachman are the models for true conservatism. The moderates must be held accountable for the mess we're in now.
I don't care what animal they say they are… it is very apropos to suggest that we must be ever vigilant as to the values and experiences of each specific candidate for public office. 200 years from now, I believe historians will (if they don't work for the state) write that we lived in a time of two-brand single party rule. Seriously consider each word in that phrase… pretty scary huh?

Folks, stop a minute, a third party with the conservative votes split two ways, remember Ross Perot, will keep the Democrats in power for decades. This is a numerical winner take all system and the two party system has worked well doing that. The stupidest thing conservatives could do is split their votes giving the Democrats the majority numbers at every election.
The Republican party needs re-organized and instead of carping about the RINOS and the lack of new faces get out there and join the GOP on a local level, prod them, and insist on well vetted candidates. Remember there were times, Reagan comes to mind, when it looked like the Democrats were dead space for a long time. American political parties have a history of rejuvenating and coming back rather quickly.
I'm all for Republicans trying to win EVERY race in the country, even if they have to nominate Moderates or Liberals to do so. However, there have to be some core principles that someone adheres to in order to be called a Republican. Also, it's a really bad move to take money contributed by people who support Conservative candidates and give it to Liberal ones. You're just asking to split the party and reduce the support.
Everything has it's limits, and it does nothing but damage the party to have someone getting support from the Kos and ACORN calling themselves a Republican.
"Please don't get pulled towards third-party thinking! It's exactly what the libs are hoping for to help split votes and get their messiah re-elected in 2012." – Brian is right, the odds of a third party overtaking the Dems is still slim-to-none. People voting for a third party candidate or not voting at all just to show their displeasure with McCain and the Republican party, is greatly responsible for who's in office now. We need to let the GOP know that we're mad as hell and we're not going to accept Democrats dressed in Republican clothing any longer.
Aren't there like 29 other parties in this country already? We need to clean the cockroaches out of the Republican party and give them a new agenda with some balls.
She's as much of a Republican as obama is a right wing conservative. She lied and the people on the Republican National Committee should get with the program or get the hell out and let some else do the job. Time for more letters.
I grew up in Manhattan and you may not meet someone more conservative than me.
Instead of a third party, we should be working to remove RINO's and recuriting Conservative Democrats. I am finding it much easier to bring them to the conclusion that their party has left them.
Liberal Republicans and RINOS = Democrats getting what they want. We have to be very sure that we don't just vote for people just because they have an R next to their name. And anyone with stars in their eyes about a third party, look up Ross Perot & the Reform Party. That didn't end very well for us, DID IT?
@davidinarkansas: I must respectfully disagree with your statement that "You cant really expect, though, for true conservatives to come from the east coast….or west coast for that matter." Ronald Reagan was from the "west coast". Your blanket condemnation of east coast and west coast Republicans is as counter-productive to honest dialog, as the Liberal claim that anyone who disagrees with President Obama's policies is a racist right-wing fanatic.
I agree, It's counterproductive to write off whole swaths of US geography in one generalized brush stroke.
Hey, we do have pockets of notorious lalaland lefty moonbats, think Hollywood, as they like the comfort of their groupthink lifestyles, but, there are plenty of Blue State folks that don't live that script.
To sharonmcp—–The east coast and west coast are notorious for their liberalism….San Francisco and Los Angeles; New York and Boston..etc. I seriously doubt you’re going to find any TRUE conservatives there. Ronald Reagan was an exception rather than the rule.
While its true that there are some conservatives there, the liberals are still the majority.
Also…..Ronald Reagan came out of California when it was mostly conservative (except for the hippies of course) but now California is largely……..though not ALL……liberal
The bigger question is what kind of an idiot is Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, in endorsing this obscure RINO nobody in rural upstate NY?
He's the fool that ought to be sliced and diced in this story.
We all have the tools to vett these critters. On the local level and up start using them.
This article reinforces my belief that the Republican Party thinks that the ongoing resurgence of conservatives is just a repudiation of the Democrats and not the repudiation of both partys that it actually is. When the Republicans take back control of the Congress next year they will attempt to return to business as usual. I believe that it will take at least three election cycles for the Washington crowd to really get the message that the American people are fed up. We need to VOTE OUT THE INCUMBENTS in 2010, which will be followed by the Republican business as usual. When we again VOTE OUT THE INCUMBENTS in 2012 they will start to get the message that we are serious, but they will continue to test our mettle. I believe that when we again VOTE OUT THE INCUMBENTS in 2014 the message will have finally been received. We must be tenacious in cleaning up the mess because they will be just as tenacious in attempting to preserve the cesspool that we have allowed them to create
They have a name for third party candidates – LOSERS. Going third party would ensure the dems control of the nation for another generation. Reform is the way to go. I want a big tent – but I want the leadership to be rock-ribbed conservatives.

i feel this way about almost every "republican" who runs here in calif…i just don't understand how people who vote look the other way when it is usually an easy thing to find out whether a candidate is only using the name 'republican' to get votes.
i think, unfortunately, that in order for there to be "true" republicans our party needs to get serious about what it's going to stand for. far too long we have allowed these people the run of the reins and it must be stopped. mark levin says he appreciates the neo-cons/progressives for their vote but they should get out of the way when it comes to policy making. this is impossible, however. you can't have them in the party without expecting their influence.
The Conservative Party nominee is Doug Hoffman. He has been endorsed by the Club for Growth and numerous conservative organizations. The Club for Growth's poll shows him trailing Scozzafava by 3 points. His website at Doug Hoffman for Congress. Go there and sign up.
Go learn some American history and quickly !
No third/fringe party split from the GOP candidate has EVER won an election, but they have consistently made it possible for the DEM candidate to wiin! And please don't try to plam off that canard about the GOP and the Whigs as an example of it working! By the time the GOP was a full fledged party, the Whig Party membership had been completely decimated. That will NOT happen again in our lifetime.
Forget about Keyes ( yet another damned race card, wjiny, ARROGANT fool ! ) and his weird party! He is corrupt, a fraud, and so are the people who work for him.
Be VERY AWARE of Rino's in conservative attire… It is critical to research their political office and voting histories. The Rino's are just as deceptive and corrupt as their Democrat "counterparts"….
A simple test you can perform to see if they are conservative… Slap them hard. If they cry and run they are liberals. If they are conservative they will slap you back ! (Then you can shake their hand and thank them).

I really have to wonder if the people in charge of the GOP want the Republican party to survive. They continue to take swipes at the Conservative party base through various actions such as appointing and supporting RINO's. The GOP leadership is sadly lacking in Conservative values anymore and seems to be veering to the left.
It is looking as though if the Conservatives want a real voice in our government, we'll have to go to a third party and build it up so it can be a viable party to challenge the current parties.
The liberal plan is as follows:
Indentify the Target
Attack
Perfect the Attack
Delegate the Attack
Move on to a new target.
Somewhat Alinskyesque but Saul forgot the delegation part. They target with a vertical pit bull bite and keep that target under one roof and that roof cave’s in from the sheer volume of uneducated logistics as ACORN so eloquently has shown the American voter.
The Liberal plan is to usurp political territory communicating conservative talking points to gain or game local elections. Once elected the faux candidate will lurch far left as KOS has described being the largest proponent in this elementary strategy. This is right out of Obama's playbook because he blazed this trail as we all looked on. I think after these last 10 months the American people and especially the California voter will be looking very close at this slight of hand or intellect and defer them outright. Unbelievably the Lib’s already have Jerry Brown voted in as Governor with Gavin Newsome in second place? Cont…..
Cont…
Nope, the folks outside of the liberal wasp nest in California who normally would deal with whatever Sacramento shuffles out now feel they have no option but to get into that voting booth in 2010 and 2012 to bring this State back from its current precipice.
Yeah, uh huh we want more of this. Not ONE chance in hell.
Tina
Another "IQ test" where you get to show how smart it is to throw out the baby with the washwater.
Duh!
Agreed! Who has the power to create a 3rd party to fight the disastrous government order? .Right now the Republican party is the only likely option to make any effect by 2010. Every day Obama is in office is another day he is taking our Republic away from us.
Which Alinsky rules for radicals is this one?
We are so in trouble. I wonder if Sarah Palin would go Independent. We need so many more leaders like her – but what a huge sacrifice to be in politics at such a time.
I think the majority of Republicans have been too, too quiet since the 2008 election – I just don’t trust them anymore….(never trusted demos).

In some cases there is not much difference between the democrats and the republicans. If you follow their voting pattern, their pork bills and their sentiments for the last 40 years, it is easy to see they they march in lock-step on a lot of things. Otherwise we wouldn't be in the mess we're in. Take the Patriot Act, the financial mess and the war in Iraq, none of this would have been possible if the republicans didn't vote the way the democrats do. It is time to get rid of both parties as they are all liars, cheats and thieves, and bring forth the Independent party with new rules. The 1 rule that we should make each candidate sign is that if they don't vote the way they promised when they are campaigning, we should be able to throw them out without any legal debate. You lie, goodby!
Well, let's have a compromise here. All of us conservatives need to take control of the Republican Party and then kick all of the non-conservatives out, renaming it the Conservative Party. This accomplishes both issues: (1) using the party for what it's actually worth (a tool for conservatives to have a common link to each other and a national agenda) and (2) force the appeasers to form the third party (which will never get elected).
Now Lindsey Grahm has come out in favor of Cap & Tax.This fool should be taken out!
Just another reason why I stopped giving money to the Republican party. The RINOs ruined the party….and Obama is the result of it…..which really doesn't bother the RINOs at all. The party is still split….although in 2010 the Republicans will take control of the House and gain a few in the Senate as the dimwitcrats look so much uglier.
Hey everyone should take a look at this website THE COUNTY SHERIFF AMERICA’S LAST HOPE this is a great website it is well worth looking at let your elected official’s know that they swore an Oath to Defend The CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED OF AMERICA and that you are going to hold them to that OATH and if they break that OATH then they will be replaced.
How about that devil Al Gore, he learned a lot in
How about that Al Gore, he's so funny, he learned in DC that you can make millions selling Hot Air. Talk about a Charlatan, how could you sleep at nite, taxing the nation for zip. Since he hasn't cashed in yet, he is over in Finland promoting a green car that Only Costs $ 89,000. And of course Govt is going to fund the company with millions.
