However, you don’t need an ID to apply for Medicaid and potentially receive thousands of dollars in government benefits. And it doesn’t look like you’ll have to show an ID anytime in the near future, either:

Purpose:
An amendment to require presentation of identification in applying for Medicaid benefits
Description of Amendment:
The amendment amends Title 19 of the Social Security Act to require an applicant (or the parent or guardian in the case of a child under the age of 18) to present at the time of application for Medicaid or CHIP benefits government-issued photo identification and that identification must be authenticated with the issuing agency.

Fraud in Medicaid and Medicare is estimated at around $100 billion a year. Actually proving that someone is who they say they are when applying for benefits would surely trim at least some of that.

Well of course not that would make too much sense. After all the illegals dont have legit ID that are receiving govt benefits now. And to dictate that ID will be necessary will only show more of their hand that they will in fact push for amnesty for illegals! According to ACORN the requirement of having an ID discriminates against minorities and poor because many of them do not have ID! Ya suppose if they are too lazy to get an ID they are too lazy to work? Thus…poverty?

What was this bill#? I couldn't find it. Why are there so few votes from the politicians? Why wasn't there any discussion among the entire senate, as that would have helped to reduce fraud in Medicaid, Welfare, Food Stamps, Social Security (there are a lot of people that aren't citizens who get disability…disgusting), other government programs and last, but certain not least, (actually one of the most important) voter fraud. I would like to know what there reasons were for voting against requiring ID. Did someone say, hey, lets vote on this…look nobody is here, let's vote?!?!
No one should be able to get benefits without proving that they are a US citizen. This is unbelievable that people can come here illegally and we end up paying for their healthcare and family care. I have to show my identification to even pick up my own children from their elementary school. Wow! I had to show birth certificates in order to get them enrolled in their new school yet our President is not required to show his real birth certificate and he is the "leader" of our country. Why?

What gives Democratic Senators?
I have neighbors who openly brag about how they are commiting fraud and getting Medicaid. They tell other neighbors that they should turn down their healthcare coverage at work and do the same thing. We report it, and nothing happens. They claim to be illegal immigrants with no social security number (lying on both counts) to receive their benefits. They also claim to be unemployed, when they make more money than my family. (Especially when you factor in that they don't pay for healthcare while we do, and they don't pay for their children's school lunches or anything else they can get for free by lying.) A simple check of ID would disprove all of their claims.

You also can’t ask for an ID to vote, according to Democrats, because that might discourage some of their biggest constituencies from voting — like dead people and voters registered multiple times.
So let me get this straight – the Statists want to put all of our personal medical histories on the Internets so that any hacker can find them (and note The One's $5B earmark for DNA research – wonder if they'll also post our DNA details as well). So once stripped of even our most intimate genetic privacy, doctors and hospitals (as well as poll workers) are to outdo Emily Post in maintaining an appropriate etiquette boundary.
I don't think we can have a real debate on health care until we address fraud and tort reform. Reforming those two categories alone will save billions. And yet, the current health care debate doesn't even address them (or doesn't in any serious way). It's laughable that our representatives act like this is the best they could come up with when they are ignoring some very large elephants in the room.

Of course the Democrats don't want you to have to show a valid ID when applying for government services. Having to show a valid ID means that they can't give away the store to illegals and corruption will be harder to do. It goes against the Democrat playbook which requires wasteful spending and as much corruption as possible.

I can't control what you believe, but I can state the facts. These people have been reported to Medicaid and other organizations that are being defrauded, more than once. After the first report, people started asking why nothing had been done. The only response was that there aren't enough people to follow up on all of the reports. News stations have been called, and they won't do anything about the story without documented proof, and the only proof we have is what these people have told us, combined with our knowledge of their employment, the amount of money they spend on luxury items, and our eyewitness accounts of details pertaining to their lives. Not to mention the fact that people who are aware of the situation are afraid of these people finding out who reported them and retaliating, so some do so very cautiously.
It's an endlessly frustrating situation, and certainly not "nonsense."
By the way, if you don't believe me, what exactly do you think is happening to account for all the billions of dollars of fraud? That money isn't just walking out the door on its own.

Seems to me if you have to register and be "licensed" to carry it is an infringement. How can it possibly make you feel better knowing the government now has you on their list. If it ever comes down to a witch hunt for guns you can fully expect they will be paying you a visit.

You are starting to make a believer out of me. Might I suggest going to your local District Attorney? If you are in a large metropolitan area, that might be hard to get them interested, as their case loads are high. But if it is in a rural area, you might be better received.

As we already know, his original plan was to "move" us to a single payer system. His reason for postponing it's implementation till 2013 was so any negative effects would not damage his chances to be re-elected in 2012. If, God forbid, Obama should win a second term, do not be surprised if he and his liberal supporters try to change the law that currently limits a President to two consecutive terms. I know from getting medicade that you do have to have an id and birthcirtificate. I am NOT for any id card by the government. What I don't understand is, how do illigals get these benefits, when at a time we really needed it, we had to come up with all kinds of documents to get any benefits? I guess its kinda like acorn, its not what you know, its WHO you know…….
If we required an ID to vote, there would likely be a more balanced Congress because ACORN and their fellow travelers would not be able to stuff the ballot boxes with illegal and imaginary voters.

Try checking out a library book without an ID.
I just love the excuse that the Democrats give for not requiring IDs. The "poor" might not have one. Okay, so pass a law that if someone is too poor to pay for a copy of their birth certificate ($7 in my state) then they can get one for free. Then give them a state issued ID card for free.
Mississippi requires an ID and proof that you live in the county you say you live in in order to vote. And you have to go to a specific voting center, so there is no way you are going to vote more than once.
Imagine that, Mississippi setting the standard for sophistication.
