The Haunting Slave Children Photo And The Meaning Of Our Revolution
by Brad SchaefferThis past April, an undated photo of two slave children was found at a moving sale in Charlotte, North Carolina, accompanied by a document detailing the sale of “John” for $1,150 in 1854. (John is presumably one of the children). The photo was purchased by collector Keya Morgan for $30,000. As a father of a little boy, this photograph reaches out to me in a distinctly personal level for I cannot imagine ever being separated from my child and the unbearable anguish I would suffer having him literally sold out from under me and taken away never to be seen again…left always to wonder about the son I lost to the horrors that was American slavery. The two forlorn children in this photo stare back at us through the chasm of time. They are the ghosts of an ugly national past. The victims of a monstrous injustice that would take the violent deaths of 620,000 Americans to rectify.

Still, I am struck by the breathtakingly steep arc of moral ascendency we have seen in this great country since the horrible bloodlettings that occurred on the battlefields of Shiloh, Antietam, Gettysburg, Spotsylvania and over six thousand others to determine once and for all what kind of country we would become.
That we have gone from a nation in which three million fellow Americans were held as slaves literally in chains and shackles, with no more legal rights than a goat, to a country that elects a Black man to the highest and most powerful office in the land says much about who we are as a people.
There will be those on the left who will predictably use the upcoming Independence Day holiday to highlight the hypocrisy of the Declaration we celebrate. They will mock the document of a slave state that had the brazenness to announce to the world our vision of a better nation founded in the conviction that such basic human rights as life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness come not from governments or royals, but from a higher power than ourselves: Divine Providence.
But these cynics will miss the point.
The American experiment had to start somewhere. And without that incredibly courageous initial push of the flywheel, the great events that followed which would lead to the emancipation of hundreds of millions from slavery and tyranny, not just on this continent but throughout the world where our American presence has been felt, would never have happened. In the late eighteenth century, where tsars and kings and kaisers ruled Europe, shoguns and emperors the Far East, and slavery was universally practiced across the globe, our upending of the imperial order in favor of popular sovereignty was stunning in its audacity—and a great danger to the despots and lords who ruled the world.
Unique in the annals of history, the American Revolution which broke our allegiance to the British Crown was one led by learned, wealthy men who would have the most to lose should their treason be squashed. Indeed, many of these gentlemen revolutionaries would ultimately suffer privation and ruin even though a victory was won. Ours was not a revolution of the lows against the highs as was seen in bloody France in the 1790s, but rather it was led and prosecuted by the elites of colonial society. And it was a movement to advance an idea that a citizenry does not owe its servitude to a crown but rather each other.
And so our revolution was as ethereal as it was commercial—and that distinctive quality has been the source of strength behind our nation’s durability throughout its many trials and tests over the past 234 years. And it has been the key to our development as a people who can identify a terrible wrong or injustice as inconsistent with our ideals and terminate it—violently if need be.
As the haunting photograph of the two slave children reminds us, our revolution of 1776 was incomplete and fatally flawed in that “all men are created equal” only applied to Caucasians. For the three million Blacks living in slavery in the United States before Appomattox, it was “all midnight forever.” As an ex-slave once reflected, her elderly voice pressed on a crackly vinyl recording: “You know what I’d do if I ever had to be a slave again? I’d take a gun and end it. ‘Cause you ain’t nothin’ but a dog.”
But that was then. This nation has rolled over and been remade many times since the dark days of the triangle trade. As any visitor to Gettysburg will attest, many Americans paid the ultimate price to wash away our original sin. Today we Americans, all 300 million of us, can look back with pride at our history which relays the story of a new birth of freedom for mankind. And we can be comfortable with our exceptionalism as this nation has been an overall force for good in the world. Hundreds of millions live in liberty as beneficiaries of the ideals that our Founding Fathers so confidently announced to the world as truths, even as a massive British flotilla sat anchored in the waters off New York preparing to crush their rebellion.
We who dwell in this city on a hill are the beneficent custodians of the principles handed down to us by Jefferson, Adams, Franklin and Washington. And we are also tasked with carrying a reminder as seen through the eyes of those two slave children who have long since passed into history, of what can happen to our nation should we abandon those values that made us the great country we are today.

Yes our nation had flaws. And it still does. But the liberals who judge the past so harshly do not realize that they, too, will be judge by the future. My guess is that they will be found wanting.

Great article, Mr. Schaeffer. Unfortunately, our Founding Fathers original intent has been lost on too many generations that were taught tainted history- at the hand of progressives. Our Constitution has been spat upon for the last 100 or so years. Until we right the wrongs of those intent on taking our liberties and controlling our lives, our great country will have no resemblance of our beginning.

While now illegal everywhere, slavery or practices akin to it continue today in many countries throughout the world.
The look from older child appears different from the younger one,……..
the older one appears more cognizant of his station in life,………
while the younger seems a little more bewildered in that he still can not fully grasp that he is or what is a slave.
I remember seeing the looks of a six year old black boy,…full of joy and innocence,…..and
the look of a 12 year old black boy,…..the joy and innocence replaced by bitterness and rage.
Those looks I remember seeing when I worked for the Chicago Housing Authority.
The sale price for these young slaves has not changed that much,……….
only today we call it a welfare check.
Wanting and sadly lacking in the qualities that make us the greatest nation on earth and in history. Some day, we'll be able to look back on Progressivism and understand how wicket it really was.
Many of the Founding Fathers struggled with the evils of slavery and considered abolishing it at the time of the Nation's founding. It was not as clear cut as it is made out to be today.
Yes, that was then. Back when Democrats were slavemasters, and fought to keep the blacks as slaves.
Personally, I don't see that picture as 'haunting.'
Slavery is a part of the history of this great nation. Yes, that is sad/terrible.
But there were, and still are people who will stand up for right, and put their lives on the line in defense of liberty.
I look at the picture as a unique artifact from our nation's history. I think it's an awesome find and cool that they found this photo and accompanying slavery papers.
History is a great thing. Haunting is not a word I'd use. Even in reference to the attempted extermination of the Jews by the muslims and Nazis.
Let us remember, and learn to stand against those progressive types who want to do likewise with those that they can.
Black Americans don't get the credit that they earned in the founding of this country, actually they don't get any credit at all. When, truly, they are not just victims and slaves, as we are taught, they are also American hero's and founders. Did you know that the rider with Paul Revere was a black American? So much more here that is missing from our history.
A really cool story about him is we know that Paul Revere made his midnight ride. We also know he wasn't the only guy riding that night. The other guy riding, Wentworth Cheswill, black and white riding.
BECK: Now, how is it possible? Did you know we had an African- American ride to say "The British are coming, the British are coming"?

The look in those babies' eyes is hopelessness, despair. Never ever daring to maintain any hope of a better life. God Almighty. No American today can even fathom such horror. We all have it so good we sometimes forget that liberty always needs to be fought for – even when it seems as though we are free. I've seen that look before; I've seen it on the faces of people in government housing. I've seen them crushed under the weight of leftist ideology. They believe that success, achievement, and even marriage is not available to them. Because that's what the left has taught them since birth. Conservatism was the underground railroad then – and the underground railroad now. All Aboard.
Obama is not black. He is mulatto.
You forgot the kast boat load of slaves taken out of Africa in 1959. they disappeared into the Mid-East.
Two slave children – One DEMOCRAT PARTY – the engine of slavery – yet the Democrats have managed to skirt and obfuscate their shabby, sickening past.
Why?
By adhereing to a new "narrative" pushed by the increasingly more leftist and biased press. Conservatives push for freedom for all and liberals push for modern "enslavement" by government fiat – and government largess.
The modern "Democrat Party Plantation" survives to this very day.
As ugly an institution that ever was, slavery was not an American institution but one we acquired, ironically, by freeing ourselves from tyranny. That it was abolished speaks to the glory of this nation and it's people but, if we acquiesce and give into the clamoring of the progressive factions that seek to enslave all people to an idealism that would make serfs of us all, then we've learned nothing from history and we will repeat it.
"Free at last, Free at last, thank God Almighty, Free at last"……….so spake Dr, Martin Luther King, were he to return today and witness that he movement he founded had been compromised and his followers now aligned themselves with the very political party that for over a century willingly enslaved them, he would weap! The new segregation, borne of divesity education, seperating Americans into ethnic groups then pitting them against each other. It is no mistake that there are only Minority hyphenated Americans. It is no mistake that within the Democrat party there exists the Democrat Congressional Black Caucus or the Democrat Hispanic Caucus, they argue amoung themselves about who is entitiled to the biggest piece of the pie. It is dispicable what the leaders of the Democrat party continue to do by seperating Americans into competing camps rather than asking them to come together and enjoy the blessing of being an American.
FRAUD !!!!! The historians got it wrong! This photo was originally a stereo view card(with a wider, full view of the scene) photographed and published by J.N. Wilson of Savannah Ga. It was one of a series he published on plantation life around Savannah in the 1870's. Whoever declared it a rare "Brady" photograph of a North Carloina slave of the early 1860"s didn't do their homework. I just sold the stereo view card on eBay in a lot of 12 views of Savannah(two days before this story broke). It was with three other plantation views(two of cotton fields with workers and one of a family in front of the home). This photo is not as rare as declared and was published and distributed by J.N. Wilson of Savannah before it ever became a "Brady" CDV. Brady had a bad habit of commandeering intertesting photos done by others and publishing them as his own. I would have thought someone with knowledge and experience would have known this. The story accompanying the "rare" NC photo is one massive error of oversight and wanting something to be more than what it is. The gentleman that bought that photo was sold a bill of goods! He might want to do some research and try for a bit of a refund from his overspent $30,000!
He's not even that. He's 50% white, 43.75% ARAB and only 6.35% black and evil.

It was a great show and there was a lot to be learned- one of Beck's best. Sometimes, I get bored with Beck's dramatic antics, but I believe he tells the truth more than anyone in media today.
NOW WE ARE ALL SLAVES !!
I gotta say Obamarx is 100% evil and his race and ethnic background are insignificant. He is bad to the bone.
The new "narrative" was progressive. The original goal of Planned Parenthood had a real plan for blacks- just kill them before they were born. Margaret Sanger had that plan.
One quibble- the constitution does not use the word "Caucasian" anywhere in its text. The closest thing it says is "three fifths of all other persons" and "Number of Free persons". Free blacks were counted as whole people and served in federal and state governments. Slaves- be they red, yellow, black etc.. were counted as three fifths.
SET UP TO BRING BACK WHITE GUILT. LIKE TO SEE SOME PICTURES OF YOUNG BLACK CHILDREN LIVING IN AFRICA IN THE 1800S PROBABLY DIDNT EVEN HAVE CLOTHES . I HAVE OLD PICTURES OF MY RELATIVES FROM EARLY 1900S LIVING IN A SHACK IN NOVASCOTIA , AND THEY WERE WHITE , ITS ALL DONE ON PURPOSE , AT LEAST THOSE BOYS HAD A CHANCE IN AMERICA ,
Learn your history people. Then share it with others, especially your children.
My grandmother called me and my brother "high yellow".
I've always prefered that to mulatto, although on the census, under race, I put "human".
Excellent thought provoking article.
"There will be those on the left who will predictably use the upcoming Independence Day holiday to highlight the hypocrisy of the Declaration we celebrate. "
I wonder; does the author know, and do the readers know, that currently copies of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are being printed, and sold, with a disclaimer?
Pure insanity.
yes, now that slavery was abolished, we are getting back to it. what do you think taxation is? we are no longer free men, we are slaves to politicians. your city takes a cut, your county takes a cut. then the state takes a cut, finally the feds take thier cut. they tax telephones, electricity, water, natural gas, gasoline, houses, cars, roads, and anything i left out. if we were to have stayed british subjects, we were only taxed, i believe fifteen percent. once the tax bite gets over 50 percent of all of your earnings, you are half slave of the state. just add up all the taxes you pay, divide it into your earnings, and that is the part slave you are. everytime a tax is lowered, you get closer to free. everytime it is raised, you get closer to slave. who is a better master, you or your slavemaster? manditory fees are a tax!!
Ralphie
This one earned you a beer on Sat…Thumbs UP…
"And we can be comfortable with our exceptionalism as this nation has been an overall force for good in the world"
Most don't see it and others won't admit it….
So the shackles remainfirmly in place..
.
After reading the list of historical slavery info above, and reading this comment, I have to agree that taxation is the new slavery and slaves were formerly freed so that their labor would be taxed….
It indeed was a shameful part of our history, and should never be forgotten, or trivialized….
Having said that, I believe it's time to move forward…we have a black president, and many
blacks have succeeded into working their way into the middle class…..Let's see that we
keep making advances, and let's not keep going backwards..March Forward!!
Those two sad looking little boys might just be ancestors to men and women who are
pillars in our communities now!! (It's not a bad thought at all, in fact, it's a happy thought..)
At one time indentured servants were in lifetime debt…now whole nations are!(along with their citizens that must pay off the debt for generations)
Cowboy, I saw that article about the disclaimer….I sent the article to friends…
Did you ever think you would see these types of goings on?….I just can't grasp
it….It all is happening too fast for me!!..I guess I was sleeping, and all this crap
is slapping me in the face now!
CL
What sort of a disclaimer?
"Reading this document, without the imput of a college professor, could turn the reader, into a Conservative.
We cannot be held responsible, should this event actually occur…"
2009 – 2010 slavery rears it's ugly head and takes root in America .
2020 my Grandchidren enslaved to America's debt.
2045 my Great grandchildren still enslaved to America's debt
not really. when we started getting away from the constitution, that is when the taxes took off. the first instance believe it or not was the civil war. the states were supposed to be able to get out of the union, that is how the founding was started. the civil war blocked that from happening, after it ended, slavery was ended in the south. after 1900 they started getting more agressive. the spanish american war tax on telephones was a beginning, then the income tax, then social security, and the rest. if congress has unlimited spending and taxing powers, we are done as a country. and right now, they think we are atm's for the cashing out of. look at the debt of the country, the more they taxed, the more they spent, and the deeper in debt they put us. they never use the extra tax money for paying debt, just more spending.
How sad and ironic that blacks have embraced both the party of slavery in America, the Democrats, and rejected the party that fought for their freedoms, the Republicans.
Blacks have embraced the ideology of progressivism in exchange for the cheap trinkets of government handouts. I used to believe that blacks wanted to be free in a free country. But not anymore. Now I believe that the majority of blacks in this country are interested in REVENGE; and they will willingly burn down and loot their collective future if that's what it takes to get it. Just like they burn down their own neighborhoods on television. Blacks don't consider America their nation. They consider their skin color to be their nation.
And the irony will be that if Americans do not get informed and involved in the politics of this nation then we, our children and grandchildren shall become slaves to a dying nation, brought there by the first partially black President.
"And without that incredibly courageous initial push of the flywheel, the great events that followed which would lead to the emancipation of hundreds of millions from slavery and tyranny, not just on this continent but throughout the world where our American presence has been felt, would never have happened"
I pray that the flywheel will continue to move and thwart those who would subjugate all free Americans to their progressive theology which is resulting in progressively more and more tyranny.
We must fight for Truth and Right!
Tell it like it is Ralph!
When the United States goes down, it will mean the final assault on freedom around the world. All you America haters consider what the fate of Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, the Phillipines, Israel, among others, will be, when the American shield is gone. Even Canada and NATO. Oh I forgot, you progressives love tyrants and dictators. People are just grist for the socialist mill, made to be ground into fodder for the utopia that never comes.
Gone will be the Geneva Conventions, gone will be the environmental treaties, gone will be all the treaties for nuclear arms control, non-proliferation, the non-militarization of space, etc. We are the glue that holds the world together. Gone will be the contributions to a more civilized world that we take for granted; everything from building codes to food and water standards to limits on warfare.
i think this was before the copyright laws, and this is why we started the law. today it is reversing, with digital photos, it is hard to tell exactly where a photo came from, and if it is even real with photoshop and all. i am a former large format photographer, and large slides and negatives were easy enough to track, but digital has no original film, only a file, that can be copied, changed, then repackaged. i did do a google of brady, and cdv's, and saw lots of these stero cards, but not the exact one. but from what i saw, it does look like you are right about this "rare" photo.
They’ve replaced one set of chains for another. The Democrat party is gonna keep folks (voters) on the plantation of every color, sucking down that government cheese!
I think that would put him closer to an octoroon or terceron (1/8th Afro-American)
I think it is important to note the wording here: "All *MEN* are created equal"
Women were not afforded the right to vote until 1920 — 50 years after Freedmen got the right. Blacks were not the only slaves in this country.
Of course, under communism nobody gets to vote and never will. Women in America before 1920 had more rights and priviledges than women living in the middle east TODAY.
But don't be confused. Progressivism is about collective rights. Not individual rights. There isn't a progressive on the planet who has the moral ascendancy to criticize the United States for anything in it's history.
Good for you because all patriots are human no matter what color, religion or politics. Obama is genetically flawed and not in any category. We really don't know who his father was and where he was born but we do know that his mentor Frank Marshall Davis was a pervert who like little girls and was 100% communist.
This country has never been so divided racially since he took office. Most of us do not see skin color. We only see the soul. We love Llyod Marcus and he is 100% pure black with a heritage, guts and a true patriot.
http://www.newswithviews.com/Marcus/lloyd136.htm
I just hope as many people learn as much as I do from Becks show…plus you know the libs just hate his guts, I love to post his or Palins name on Huffpo and watch them swarm. The reaction never gets old.
If you would have read any of my posts, you would see Obumble is not my president….
He happens to be the president of the USA, and I was just saying, how far blacks have
advanced, from slavery to president….The gist of my statement was to stop looking back
and go forward…..Frankly, I'm one person that's tired of all the bellyaching about something
I or my ancestors had nothing to do with, and I wish people would quit looking back, and
bringing things up that can't be undone!! There's no more slavery like what went on in the
past, and my thought was go forward from today, and quit living in the past….
I am waiting for November 2010, so maybe we could stop some of
the destruction Obumble and comrades did….No where in my post did you read me
praising Obumble……
It's why I've always been a conservative. It's the liberals/progressives that have always made issue with my herritage. All the years I've spent in the military have taught me only to see character.
I want to remind all black people that the Muslims sold you into slavery and now they want to take this country and put us all into slavery. Obama is a muslim and he will side with them no matter what. Hence the $400 million MORE dollars for Hamas. Who in this adminsitration has the balls to STAND up to him and say "NO MORE" !!!!!!!
This country is not for sale and we will not be slaves to anyone.
"And it was a movement to advance an idea that a citizenry does not owe its servitude to a crown but rather each other."
Putting in the word voluntary at some point here might clarify what you mean. Democracy is servitude to one another utilizing the coercion of the state. Civil society is made up of individuals who do not "serve" one another, but who voluntarily trade goods and services in kind, or for capital. Servitude is the aesthetically more pleasing term for slavery.
Guess we weren't the only country with a history of slavery.
Then try to spread the word. I think a lot of people voted for Obama because of his skin color and thinking he was the "way" to emancipation. He will throw every black person under the bus because he is an elitist and in his own words " I will stand with the Muslims". This was not a religious stance but a political stance and all the good black, mullato people of this country have not realized this yet.
The liberals have been the worst rascists this country has ever seen. Thats why Martin Luther King was a republican.
I have photos of my husband's family, children, who had the same look of hopelessness and despair. Dressed in rags. They were white living in Missouri during the Depression! Some Americans can fathom horror and know how good we have it now! Just because you can't fathom desperation doesn't mean ALL Americans can't!
You know why southerners know how to shot? Because that's how a lot of them ate!
Slavery is still practiced today every where. Our problem is that our free society makes us a target for extortionist of all persuations to represent America as the owner of the original sin.
Not so, as is so eloquently showned by KULAK. No Progressive, Liberal, or Black (NAACP) organization is remotely interested in interfering with black slavery in tha Sudan, Saudi Arabia nor any number of Islamic States tha still hold slaves as accepted by the Koran. Two reasons deter them : First, we won't kill them, and Second, there is no money in going after Islamic slaveholders.
Pick any country on the map, and I'll guarantee you it had slaves at one point.
This country is beholden in debt beyond our control and as a result, we are now all slaves to the international bankers.
To eliminate out slavery, four things must be done: 1. Pay off the Federal debt (it was down once in our country's history by Andrew Jackson) 2. End fractional banking 3. Reverse/eliminate the Federal Reserve Act. 4 Withdraw from the International Monetary Fund.
I would also add withdrawing out of the United Nations then kicking them off of American soil and let them relocate to beautiful downtown Lagos, Nigeria or there about.
Banking was conceived in iniquity and born in sin.
Josiah Stamp
But if you want to continue to be slaves of the banks and pay the cost of your own slavery, then let bankers continue to create money and control credit.
Josiah Stamp
It is easy to dodge our responsibilities, but we cannot dodge the consequences of dodging our responsibilities.

"All we need is the right major crisis," said David Rockefeller — one of the most powerful change agents behind the scenes, "and the nations will accept the New World Order."

Can you say propaganda?
Amen.
Yep.
yes ! OBAMA
I bought David Barton's DVD Setting the Record Straight: American History in Black & White, it is an absolutely jaw dropping 2 1/2 hours of history we never knew about . I also bought the book. The first pilgrims in America in 1616 arrested the crew on the first slave ships that arrived and the Puritain churches raised money to send the slaves back to their families. They were horrified by the thought of slaves.
.I was speechless and could not stop gabbing about this to everyone I know. Get it and be shocked!
Why didn't we learn about this in school?
Get this and drive those smarty pants liberal teachers and their Marxist agenda crazy!
There is truth in what you say, but it isn't the entire truth.
White guilt is of no value, and I don't think this article intended to promote it.
If one travels back through recorded history, every nation and society has, at one time or another, had slavery. This fact is probably not included in the PC history texts currently within our school systems. It still exists today under the name of socialism, fascism, communism, and islam.
Realistically, Mark, we all became enslaved to the national debt in and around 1971. That was about the time the US became a net debter nation.
There was a professor from Timbuktu University, at the time of the video recording about eighty years old, who had dedicated his life, not to the history of slavery, but to the origins of slavery. He found that whites were involved before 1520 ONLY AS SLAVES. He found evidence of slaves being used as currency in AFRICA 3000 years ago. The earliest evidence they have of man and writing has the symbols for slaves on it, as currency. Do you realize just how endemic something has to already be to be considered as your currency?
Something else notable. The word SLAVE comes from the word SLAV. Prior to the 1500's, most of the slaves in the world were from the Slavic regions.
Like Caucusus. Where Caucasians lived.
That's right, campers. The very word SLAVE is named for white people, a people so routinely enslaved, they became the name.
And the progressives are to blame. Just as they are to blame for what they are trying to gain from the "Latins". They want their vote nothing more. In return for this gift the dims will continue to keep them in bondage through handouts.
Keep up the excellent work.
Shiori, we have examples of that same despair among all the various cultures, colors, and religious persuasions within this great and imperfect country. Consider it a sign of the times with unemployment at a more honest level between 17 to 20%.
Very interesting!
Today the euphemism "human trafficking" is used. Let's call it for what it is–slavery.
Right on. I put American without any hyphen, and I am of the true Heinz 57 variety.
The struggle came out in the "Great Compromise," which from today's perspective seems pretty lame. But in reality it was that or no USA. The Founders built in the ability to amend the Constitution and fully expected that they could use the process to end slavery. It happened, eventually, and after a bloody, bloody civil war. But it happened.
probably one of the reasons is that progressive teachers consider real American history harmful to their brainwashing agenda of the young, easily influenced student.
You mean a "mutt"? (Like Bill Murray called everyone in "Stripes")
Ya, the fruits of Sanger's evil are felt today, that's true. MLK's sister has been BLASTING PPH for their genocide of black children. "Progressives" like Sanger and Wilson are being imitated by people like Bill Gates who is a eugenics freak and advocates sterilization and "thining" populations in 3rd world countries to "save the planet" . I couldn't believe it when I read that, he was at Bilderburg last week.
Good call! I was hoping someone would post it.
The Progressives and the "do-gooders" who think they are being compassionate. Sigh.
Texas has yanked the steering wheel back to the right, or is trying to…we'll see how the teachers union's fight back. Teachers have bled alot of goodwill they had banked (and earned) over the decades by turning so radical and embracing the unions so closely.
Nurses who are joining SEIU are next – ya they've earned good salaries and goodwill, but that can change…I worked with nurses closely when I worked for a big hospital in Austin, and they were – to a person – good dedicated people who had answered a calling – not for the $$$, that just comes with the job, but for helping people. You could see the caring and sense the dedication, but when Union crap takes precedence, like I saw nurses walking a picket line in LA the other day, well my sympathies will change.
Nurses and teachers are dedicated professionals, I respect what they do, I just hope they don't blow it.
The pilgrims/Puritans had their heads screwed on straight about slavery, that's for sure. Back in Europe they were mostly country folk who just wanted to be left alone to practice their faith. After they settled in the New World, they not only had to contend with the Native Americans, but the "city-slicker" Europeans who came to make a profit from the land; indentured servants (and later slaves) were the way they rolled.
Also, women had a larger role and more clout in colonial life than previously known. Though it wasn't similar in all colonies, women were often partners in their husbands' estates and had rights of ownership and inheritance. They could also vote, but again, this was not universal and usually restricted to property owners.
It took the work of all colonists to raise our baby nation to adulthood and independence.
wow. thanks guys, the POWER of the new media strikes again. peetee363=EPIC!
Outstanding sir. you have an expertise and it strikes here. Thank you for you contribution and shing light on the subject and supplying the "rest of the story". Community service par excellance`!
(I have a 281 stang {06 GT}, I want a new '11 5.0 bad!)
Are you sure the one YOU had wasn't fake? Just askin'!
You know you left out "the view". In at least one area in Oregon, my friends were taxed extra for the view from their home. You are leaving out air, too.
And paying for the cheese that the leeches eat.
Have you seen the youtube video on subversion?

yuri bezmenov very interesting
I don't want to rain on your parade, but there were no pilgrims in America in 1616. The first time English colonists became involved in the slave trade was when a slave ship made port in Virginia (which was never a Puritan colony) in 1619. Slaves had been bought and sold in the Spanish colonies for more than 50 years before that date.
I do find it interesting that the first blacks in Virginia were treated as indentured servants, which meant that after a period of servitude, they were freed and given a small parcel of land. It wasn't until decades later that treating blacks as chattel slaves began.
Genocide is exactly what their game is and always has been. These Regressive control freaks sterilized my sister (without consent) at one of their 'facilities' in the '70s (because she was poor, white/indian with a Mexican child) when all she went for (supposedly) was 'post-natal care'.
It wouldn't surprise me that these Bilderburg Fascists come up with a plan of adding a "sterilant to drinking water or staple foods". Oh…wait.. they already have the plan, designed by none other than Oblama's Science Czar, Holdren… http://zombietime.com/john_holdren/

Great catch and thanks for the correction/ clarification!
Please take the time to check out the following article :

Racist much?
If you actually bothered to get to know some black folks instead of just 'learning' from television (MSM, remember?) you'd likely realize what an ignorant asshat you really are. Your lame generalizations are similar to what one might expect from, say, Louis Fartakan or Jeremiah Wright.
Ya, another poster had detailed info about this and he was the E- Bay seller (if I read his post correctly).
First thin the Prog herd…
But come to think of it, that's what's happening, they get 99% of all abortions…
Shame…
oops sorry, read your comment on the other page.
What happened to your sister is beyond outrageous. What kind of twisted NAZI would even think of such an evil illegal act?
I've never been a Bilderburger "black helicopter" guy, but when I read who goes to these confabs (sorry Chicago confabers!!) I really hafta wonder, well what if? I read the same stories linked to Drudge as you all and I read who was there (and the GOP sends people when they're in "power") and you MUST give it some consideration. New World Order seems to want Cap & Trade and they damn sure seem to be getting it, ya know?
yup. and insist on trying to "normalize" it for everybody including Christians and the Libs scream like stuck pigs when the proletariate fights back. Look how Crist folded into the ProDeath crowd in FLA. with that sonogram veto.
We won't kill what we don't see, so make sure we don't see him or her…right lib/progs?
Oh I have plenty of similar stories, I just don't share them all… at least, at once. I would break one of my self-imposed rules.
I saw a BBC show (The Great Global Warming Swindle) and, if I remember correctly, part of it documents poor living conditions and energy rationing in several African nations, conditions imposed and enforced by the UN. I believe they have further heinous, genocidal plans in the works and that Cap 'n Tax will be the ultimate 'distribution' of death, famine, despair…..
