It’s The Center, Sucka
by Bob ParksWith the upset victory (understatement of the day) in Massachusetts of Republican Scott Brown over shoo-in Democrat Attorney General Martha Coakley, the pundit establishment will be giving their political pals a tip: move to the center, and I really hope my Bay State brethren don’t let their guard down.
As someone who ran for State Representative (12th Franklin District) in 2008 and for Massachusetts Republican Party chair in 2006, I know how Democrats think.
While enjoying an 87% super majority on Beacon Hill, Massachusetts Democrats weren’t satisfied. They had their feet on our necks and their mission was to squeeze the life out of us. Thanks to Brown’s victory last night, Democrats nationally know that their lifeclocks are ticking and are now trying to figure out what to do about it.
Their immediate goal will be to put on a front of being moderate and you’ll hear the phrase “move to the center” more than you can stomach over the coming months. Democrats will attempt to make the America people believe they get it and will slow their arrogant leftward lurch.
They will ask for forgiveness, attempt to have us give them another chance. Then again, they may just try and ram through everything they can, while they can.
The bottom line is this: Republicans now have their feet on the necks of Democrats and it’s not a good time to let them breathe.
If the American people fall for the Democrat move center, just what do you think they’ll do if they save their majority status? I predict, knowing Democrats as I do, they’ll go right back to the arrogance we all know and love to hate.
Trust them at our nation’s peril. Squash them while we can and ignore their assurances of “getting it”, because they don’t. They just got caught with us seeing them for who they really are. A move to the “center” will not be sincere, but just their way of showing continued contempt for the American people with their assumption we’re all to stupid to know that their new-found moderation is just for public consumption and totally insincere.

Well spoken and spot on.
If left to their own whims, democrats will veer left and mandates and federal and other government intrusion into citizens lives. This has been on display all year. Conservatives must keep the foot on their neck and demonstrate the difference between conservatives and democrats.
The party in charge should not be "pretending" things to get elected.
These guys are professional political assassins. The will resort to any trickery they believe will take the heat off even for a while. Watch your political backsides. They bruised but they are a long way from exterminated and thats a shame.

Perceptive post. While I know it's certainly possible, it's hard to believe the left "misread" the backlash of the American people to their overreaching statism. Call me a paranoid conservative but I am very suspicious of the left's plan to somehow circumvent the American people by some sort of voter fraud in the next elections. Obviously, it's another kind of fraud when the radical left pose as centrists. I'm very thankful to Breitbart for the grass roots movement and the vigilance to "a clean election."
I for one will look at what there votes were before they got scared, moving to the center will not help them much, the American people are to smart now, an are paying closer attention.

I wholeheartedly agree Bob. While we can all take a sigh of relief now that the Dems will finally bury this Health Care debacle with Kennedy, we musn't let our guard down. They are going to have to reposition their ideas, but don't for a second believe that they are giving up on their social progressive ideals; they just know they can't be quite so open about them now that Bush Derangement Syndrome is subsiding and people are actually paying attention to ideas. What exactly is the "Center"? It seems to me there are two ideologies. One is left which promotes social programs, redistribution of weath, big goverment, etc. The other is right which promotes personal responsibility, small government and individual freedoms. It is a victory for the American People. We shouted a collective no to the Progressive movement & we have shown them that we are the power, we control how you vote & if you don't buy a sonic ear & listen we send you moving boxes to get out of Washington. The best part of the whole night was watching the idiots on MSNBC trying to comprehend the loss. Even Chris Mattews understands the meaning of the loss & already is moving to the Center from his far left stance. Their shock & disbelief is something I will cherish for now & let's get ready to finish what we all have started. They all go home in November. That is the goal & yes we can make it happen. If they doubted the Tea Party movement as a political force then they understand now. The thing that the libs, dems or whatever we call them don't understand is that it is the American people tired of being lied to.
I am afraid this is the case. After cruising the comments at HuffPo I saw that many of the people there (and the writers) think the solution is to turn more left, more "progressive". That previously this administration has tried to much compromise and that is why voters are turning away.

1) Go learn about your local candidates. Ask them about their positions on the issues.
2) When you figure out who you want to support, volunteer to help with the campaign. Some candidates offer seminars on electioneering strategies. Learn all you can and prepare to help your candidate get elected.
3) Consider joining a group which can help you stay informed and active. A local 9/12 project chapter is one suggestion, or something like http://www.csa-1776.org.
4) Consider becoming a local precinct captain, or an election judge. We'll need help on election day to keep certain groups honest.

Your article Mr Parker hit the nail right on the ole head. But I don't think that the Republican party has figured out what has just happened yet. If they think that this is a mandate to continue the "policies of spending" that they have fostered over the last 20 yrs or more, they had better think again. The American public is plain tired of polititicians as a whole taking the hard earned income of good working people away to spend on their perverted, thoughtless, self serving, special interest and I know better than the average citizen ways. One can only hope that the shoot across the bowl of the Republican ship has been heard. We the people will wait and see.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I can see it going one of two ways: 1. They ''double down" and continue on the full bore path of "Cloward and Piven." or 2. They slow the train down to keep the structures they have already placed intact.
As many of the American people have their eyes wide open to Progressivism, now is the time to stay engaged as never before. If they continue to double down the public stays engaged in the battle, but if they slow it down and go to the center the public soon goes back to sleep. Like Tides, SEIU, Acorn and the 1000's of other little entities out there that are death to the Constitution. IMHO we must be ever watchful and not slumber to either way they go. We must continue to elect people who are humble servants to the American people. We have never done this before in our history and I believe it will be the only way we can stop this inevitable socialism crippling our country. If we don't deconstruct, it will eventually rear its ugly head and again and again, till it eventually becomes realized.

I think there will a lot of infighting over this questions, I think Obama is too arrogant to do anything else, the question is will the arm twisting of the fanatics work? I think they might try the moderate route, but they will lose patience with it if immediate results are not forthcoming.

As soon as we have power to do it effectively. It also should be a part of the platform for future members of Congress and Presidential Candidates. It needs to be a vital part of their reason to go to Washington. They need to address the various nefarious networks* that the Progressives have already set in place….it would be a great place to save money by cutting their Federal funds…which slays me how they ever got any funds in the first place.
Second would be to address the educational system in this country. This one becomes more difficult because of the Lobbying power they have gained. It is essential that we re-implement Civics, true American History (not the Progressive psycho babble** that is being taught now), Rhetoric*** and Critical Thinking****. Ideology needs to be squelched in the Public System and politics should be mandated neutral in all levels of education.
As far as cost goes I am not the person to ask. I would trust Thomas Sowell to make that decision. He is a brilliant economist and I hope to see him in the coming conservative administration, along with Art Laffer. These two men alone may be able to save us from the economic disaster that seems inevitable.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. There is probably plenty I am not seeing that others can add to the list and many more Government Agencies that need to be defunded forever or nixed completely.

I'm all for throwing out the Democrats but I'm not sure we should just blindly hand the reins over to the Repubs. Generally, I trust the Repubs in power more than I trust the Dems in power but that is mostly because the media is so hostile to the Repubs that they have trouble getting away with what the Dems do (e.g. note the gentle way the media briefly scolded the Dems when they went behind closed doors to ram through Health Care Reform). They are all politicians and I'm all for working with them but don't ask me to trust them. We need serious political reform. We need to end Gerrymandering and the easiest way to do that is to drastically increase the number of representatives in Congress (see http://www.Thirty-Thousand.org for details).

In my mind, this is the problem with our democracy: we and they (the politicians) think of the political class as filling a "job" in the strict sense. As such, they must fullfil the responsibilities of that job (dolling out other people's money) or they will loose that job. But there was a time, early in our country's history, when one was called to serve his country by doing what he thought was right, whether that got him elected again or not. If the Dems OR the Repubs believe the crap they have in their platform, they should not be afraid to go back to the private sector and rejoin the masses as just another citizen. A statesman is someone who, among other qualities, has the strength of character to stand for the principles he espouses, and face the consequences.
After 911 GWB said to the people his mission was to make America safe again He expanded FEMA, created the Homeland Security Department who purpose was to centrally collect data from the other depatments like CIA, FBI, NSA, INS and the State Department.

Per Barney Frank, they want to institute Universal Voter Registration. What this means is the states lose all control of the elections, and all lists of people (motor vehicle, tax rolls, etc, etc) will automatically be registered. The significance is with full registration, voter fraud becomes much more difficult to trace. The total number of registered voters today acts as a measure of reason – can't have more votes cast than voters. So the dems would have more opportunity to fudge elections, and the Republic would be on its way to out. States would become more and more like counties.

It's already started…Obama pretending that he's moving to the middle. There's an article out there about how he blames himself for getting out of touch with the American people because he was working so hard on all the new policies to "help" the American people…yeah, right. And, health care should wait until Brown is seated because he needs to be a part of the process. Oh really, like other republicans have been a part of the process so far. Oh, and, we Americans are too caught up in all the "fear mongering" around the health care bill. We need to see it and understand it so we know how good it is. Kind of hard to see when it's all behind closed doors. The only thing we got to see were all of the bribes!

Our local slimeballs Costa and Cardoza have already telegraphed their plan to two-step to the center ASAP. Both voted for the phony health care "reform" bill despite impassioned phone calls and emails. Neither one dared show its face in Fresno, Mendota, or any surrounding town (except one appearance on Hannity where Costa was roundly booed by the live audience). They refused to have any townhalls in August. They are both liars and cowards. Your time is coming, Costa and Cardoza. Maybe Nancy will have a cushy job set aside for you somewhere in the GSA.

Both parties want to gain as much power and money as they can. The Republicans have never governed as conservatives. The goverment at all levels exits only to perpetuate itself. The Dems just want to do things faster than the Repubs.
President Barack "The Enlightend One" Obama will appear next month Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) in Las Vegas. Reid is lagging in the polls, but I'm not sure that he's real keen to have TEO appear with him since TEO is now 0 and 4 when appearing on the behalf of someone. Remember New Jersey, Virginia, The International Olympic Committee, and Massachusetts.
