Phil Hare Files FEC Complaint Against Veterans Group
by Bob McCartyUh, oh! Phil Hare, the incumbent Democrat running for re-election in Illinois’ 17th Congressional District, is at it again, apparently sore at veterans like Medal of Honor recipient John F. Baker Jr. who are supporting his opponent, Republican Bobby Schilling.
With the help of James L. Moody, chairman of the Sangamon County (Ill.) Democratic Party, Hare — the same guy who said, “I don’t worry about the Constitution,” when asked about the Constitutionality of ObamaCare — filed a complaint Aug. 27 with the Federal Election Commission.
Hare’s target: Veterans for the Constitution, a group of military veterans whose stated mission is to seat Conservative leaders who truly represent the people and do not see the Constitution as an obstacle but as a document the founding fathers intended be upheld at all costs. The group, according to spokesperson Ken Moffett, is comprised of only a handful of active members who have managed to raise a whopping $6,000.
One has to wonder how a few thousand dollars raised by a small group of veterans could have such an impact on the re-election efforts of a sitting congressman who, as of July 15, reported having $855,863.18 cash on hand to spend on the general election Nov. 2.
Unlike Hare, the veterans he is attacking know how to work effectively and efficiently with other people’s money.

Is there a legal document that congressmen sign that includes the oath, or is it strictly verbal?
(i.e. Can the people of the 17th district file a class-action suit against Hare, for his clear violation of his oath?)

I don't know, Illinois is pretty disfunctional. Look at the politicians they keep electing. I think it's like rooting for the White Sox. The home team all the way no matter what. Unfortunatley the home team in Illinois is the Corruptocrats.
Nothing against the veterans group, but I think it will be more effective donating directly to Schilling's campaign – they will likely have more professionals working on campaign materials and such, and know better how to target the money.

Unfortunately, as an Illinois resident, I am forced to live in that political cesspool where ALL politicians are dishonest, corrupt and totally without ethics or honor. This indictment covers both main political parties. Whether Donkey or Elephant, the fledgling pols attend the same schools which teach lie, cheat, steal, so we citizens have to look for Independents, Libertarians, and anyone else who can get on the ballot. The Dems have controlled Illinois since WWII, and they have set up rules that make it impossible for virtually anyone who hasn't knelt and kissed the feet of the "right" people, a candidate of either major party can't get on a ballot. The people who control Illinois remind me of The Wizzard of Oz, ALL political decisions are made behind the curtain. A few time a determined group of us attempted to pull back the curtain, but "legal" opposition to sunlight is too ingrained, so at my advanced age (74), I doubt I'll live long enough to see a change in the way Illinois is structured politically.

The group has posted at least 2 huge billboards that I have seen. One is on the interstate (80) leading into the Quad Cities, the other is outside Southpark mall in Moline, again, facing an interstate. He truly is an embarrassment to our district, while his opponent (Bobby Schilling) is a churchgoer every Sunday, successful small business owner, and family man with 10 children.
I think we should be able to fire someone from office for not doing their job or doing bad at their job. It is that way for the citizens. It should be that way for them too.
