Missouri Senate Candidate Guilty of ‘Stealing Tea’
by Bob McCartyWhen men who didn’t serve in the armed forces pretend to be decorated war heroes, they’re labeled as “fake veterans” and can even be prosecuted for for what many call “stolen valor.” Recently, one Missouri politician began mailing campaign literature that leads me to believe he’s guilty of stealing the valor of members of the Tea Party Movement (i.e., freedom-loving patriots who sacrifice time, talent and treasure in an effort to save their country from socialism). In short, he’s guilty of “stealing tea.”

The politician at the heart of this matter is Scott Rupp, a RINO Republican running for re-election in Missouri’s 2nd Senatorial District.
This week, I learned from friends in the Tea Party Movement that Rupp had mailed a four-color piece that features a photo of him standing, arms crossed, in front of a bright yellow Gadsden (a.k.a., “Don’t Tread On Me!”) flag. In addition to featuring the flag that’s become a symbol of the Tea Party Movement, the photo features people holding up signs in the background.
The problem I have with Rupp’s brochure is that it gives voters a false impression about a candidate who, according to everyone with whom I’ve spoke, has never been to a single Tea Party event in the district — and I’ve attended dozens of ‘em!
Chuck MacNab, one of the leaders of an anti-socialism group in O’Fallon, Mo., shared feelings about Rupp’s tactics with recipients of his RITEON.org e-newsletter. An excerpt of that e-mail appears below:
As we see it, his flyer attempts to create an illusion. For instance, we have never seen him show up to meet people or to help out at a Saturday rally of K & N Patriots, the largest and primary “tea party” group that has met every Saturday for over a year in his District. Cynthia Davis, his opponent, has shown up to help out, hold a sign and converse with participants at the corner of K & N almost every Saturday, sometimes for the entire duration of the rally.
MacNab had better things to say about Rupp’s opponent, Cynthia Davis, the owner of a Christian book store owner and member of the Missouri House of Representatives since 2003:
Cynthia Davis is definitely the underdog in the 2nd Senatorial District race. Her success may depend, given her limited funds, on how many constituents can be reached with the message that she is the conservative in the race and has the record and the endorsements to substantiate it. One of those endorsements is the Missouri Right to Life (MRL), our state’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. Davis has worked hard to represent the people who actually live in her District. She has thus far demonstrated through her eight years in the Missouri House that she will not be a carpetbagger for outside, big money interests and indications are that she will not compromise “tea party” values because she is beholden to interests outside of her District.
Because I don’t know Rupp personally and he has never responded to questions I submitted to him via his Facebook page, I must base my political assessments of him on impersonal factors such as the flyer and the manner in which the liberal news media treat him and his opponent.
On Wednesday, the ultra-liberal St. Louis Post-Dispatch seemed to give Rupp a pass while lambasting Davis for her die-hard conservative, small-government, pro-Constitution beliefs.

That's the great thing and the problem with the TEA Party… There is no one person, or group in charge, which makes vilification (the left's #1 rule in their playbook) difficult and with not one person in charge, it makes things more difficult to oust knuckleheads like Rupp.
Here is a road map for the future of America.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Watch out for the canidates or politician pretending that they're one of us. They're in a very high desparation mode right now. Doing anything to keep their jobs/or get elected.
I don't like jumping to conclusions anymore after this Sherrod thing- I think the guys voting record needs to be looked at. As I am not in that district, I am in VA (working hard to get Periellos out of congress and people to look at his voting record), I will not look into it, but all in his district should look at his record and his values. Well, I guess some behaviour has been looked at, as he has never attended anything to do with a tea party.
I believe truth and values will eventually win out over villification myself. I am nervous about it, but November is just around the corner and it can be a start for us people wanting to take back the country peacefully. Now what happens in November may change my thinking because the stuff in those bills that are to start in 2012 is unConstitutional and tyranny.
I went through it. More of the same stuff that won't work. We will not be saved by the people who just have a different brand of corruption to offer from the liberal brand. Granted, the Republican brand will be more palatable, but both sides leave you with the choice of a smoker: whichever brand you decide on, the outcome will be the same – eventually, either brand will result in your death at a premature age.
I think it is just getting started. The Republicans are FRANTIC to get the Tea Party folded into the modern conservative corruption movement. They fear having to return to the roots of Lincoln more than they fear having to take on Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama combined. At least with those people they can get a share of the pork; under real Republicanism, they would all have to resign as being too corrupt.
Look for more and more Republicans to claim they are with the Tea Party – like that lame caucus stunt this week. If you were really with us, you would walk away from the Republican Party and join the Tea Party – plain and simple.
Sorry Missouri,………
wish I could help,………..
I have enough problems to deal with here in Illinois,………
But do have to get the word out to the roots in Missouri,…otherwise,……..
they will be stuck having to vote for a Mark Kirk,…..like I am.
Its easy people…check the back ground past votes etc..If they are a R.I.N.O. Let them know the Dems are looking for good people and send them packing
There is no lower form of life than a person who pretends he is a veteran and hero….
That's one of my concerns. That if by some chance the Republicans can gain a slim majority in the Senate, one of our rino turncoats will switch parties so the democrats stay in control.
If the pathetic Post-Dispatch gives Rupp a pass, and drubs Davis, this is an absolute indication Rupp is a plant, a Manchurian Candidate…………just like Barry Sotero. Have lived in STL last 12 years, seen the movie before. I will help Davis for sure.
Scott Rupp never pretended to be either so please keep allegories and the story line separated….
We have two RINO's here in Maine, Snowe and Collins, I guess when your that ugly you will do anything to get noticed.
If a candidate who fakes military service can be sued for "Stolen Valor",
why not sue these lying McCain-like RINO's for "Stolen Values"?
Seems appropriate, since RINOs hold very few of ours…
Just so I understand, you are not allowed to use the Gadsden Flag unless you have attended a Tea Party event? Since when did the Tea Party claim this flag as their own?
The Tea Party is quickly losing it's way and is joining the ranks of a political party… I personally like both Cynhtia and Scott so it is a tough choice, just the opposite of our Carnahan V. Blunt race which I have to pick my poison. Come on Tea Party, do some research before saying someone is stealing "YOUR" tea. I thought the tea party was for the citizens, not a party affiliation.
Funny, those were the two I was thinking of when I wrote "rino turncoats."
FREEDOM of speech doesn't mean you can lie, lie and lie some more then lie about lieing,
These people think that their not doing any thing wrong unless the get caught and prosecuted, then their still are unsure. There primary goal is to say and do what ever it takes to get elected!!!
Well then it's a dang good thing the Tea Party doesn't have a RULE BOOK, bwahahahahaha.
This RINO, if he is one, can drape himself in any flag he likes. It won't help. Tea Party folks TALK and VET their candidates, so good luck sellin that one.
That's why it is CRITICAL we do OUR HOMEWORK. Just cause a cat has kittens in the oven, don't make'em biscuits!
)))))))))
Sounds like the newspaper "endorsement" will help clarify things for the tea party voters.
Chuck Purgason will make a fine Mo senator,we don't have to vote for Blunt or Carnahan.
Or Grahamnesty …
Except the judge in CO decided that they can't be prosecuted for stolen valor. It violates their freedom of speech apparently. I guess it's time to revisit that old thing about not yelling "fire" in a crowded theater.
I suggest you stop drinking the kool-aid, it has a tendency to affect your reasoning capability. The reality is history clearly shows and proves you wrong. So, I suggest you start drinking tea instead. It will help show you the light of truth.
No one should expect that EVERY thing changes over night. It took the progs 90 years. November will be a good start, but our work has just begun.
Davis needs to have campaign posters with a big arrow pointing at Rupp, and the word "INFILTRATOR".
Paul Ryan and his plan for US.
http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/8418762
Chicago Ralph, now that a judge has ruled in Cedra Crenshaw's favor (Will County), have you heard anything about how good her chances look for November? (I'm in DuPage so I can't vote for her, but I sure do hope she wins — Illinois needs her).
Maybe they it consider "political speech" and up to the citizen to figure what's true and what's not…
Obama would be breakin' rocks in the hot sun, if a politician could be held for prevaricatin'…
I think Paul Ryan is a man of his word,he sees the future and knows what constitutional government is all about.I like this young man.
RINO's think we can't recognize them…they are progressives and no different from Democrats
Just hate and no debate…
thank you for proving my point..
Since our has country has become so cultured and refined as to accept becoming property with such dignity it is only fitting to discuss what should be served at the wake of our freedom. I will be bringing ding dongs since they are so easy to find at the local elected government office. I am of no social relevance and have no experience in surrender, I think it should be up to the republicans to make the proper arrangements, they are so good at compromising themselves, and we surly wouldn’t want any “OHHH Dear” or any “OH MY” at this solemn occasion.
I realize the republicans just had classes on bondage, but please even this trailer trash knows that boot licking would be so inappropriate, just prostrating yourself at feet of the “one” will satisfy our new etiquette.
The government just stole your freedom and made you property and then laughed about it. The most sickening part is we have republicans saying we no right to get upset “we got your back“, the perfect position for another backstab.
If you fail to see how Rupp using a symbol of something he is not a part of, you are beyond help.
Knowing the content of character of all candidates is of the utmost importance. Telling all the persons in your own personal hemisphere of those that have good or bad character is even more important.
"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves".

"one of our rino turncoats "
Their called Progressives
yep.. if the PD backs a candidate/referendum.. I stay as far away from them/it as possible in the upcoming elections.
"Cynhtia and Scott "
We don't need anymore PROGRESSIVES
I think you're misinterpreting it exATCer.. nobody's saying they can't use the flag, but there are certain symbols that get caught on (by the viewing public) as a symbol of a certain movement/action, so it's going to come under fire when you try to pass yourself as a 'taxed enough already" believer…
The TEA party has in effect, stated they're using the Gadsden flag as their symbol, so if you use it, you need to make sure you're at least comparable in your platform/beliefs, or let it be known you're not a believer in the "Tea Party platform", otherwise, your'e going to be seen as trying to ride their coattails.
Will the real conservative please stand up
Focus people research and make up your own mind
Republicans…especially the Tea Baggers are the most EVIL people on the face of this earth! Look at the Taliban and you'd see yourselves! You hide behind the bible of which you DO NOT READ and DO NOT LIVE BY! Christ is and always will be about LOVE! Not you tea bagging republicans…It's all about the WHITE MAN and how the WHITE MAN has or is being treated! Look at how the WHITE MAN has treated others throughout the years…Look at what the WHITE MAN did to take over land that wasn't his!
IF YOU HAVE NOT LOVE THEN YOU HAVE NOT CHRIST!
Christ: How can you say you love me whom you have NOT SEEN and HATE your brother who you SEE everyday?
Republican/Teabagger: It's my constitutional right!
And just thinjk_according to the Rinos, all theTea party folks are bigots, racists and loons. I think we need to go big game hunting and hunt some RINO along the way.
Urgent message from a salad tosser!
If you’re in the political business, don’t make long term plans! …most especially RINOs…no limit!
Yip! The salad is what it is….TRUE!
I think that as long as this guy is called to task on his false representation, it will show him to be disengenuos, which is exactly one of the things the tea party groups are against. I don't think that these old school politicians have a clue as to who the tea partiers are. We aren't stupid. We aren't sheep willing to be led to slaughter. And we do not suffer fools gladly.
The issue with the Rupp/Davis race parallels most of the other GOP primaries across the country. Good Ol Boy Club politics fights against tried and true conservative values to maintain power/control. Rupp is part of the ";network" that has run St. Charles and surrounding counties since before dirt was invented. They use every dirty, underhanded, deceptive trick in the book to maintain power. It's not about public service. It's about who's in control of the power structure. Republicans, of the Grand Old Party, have lost their focus/purpose and succumbed to corruption and greed. When, one of their own, comes along trying to right the ship, they are eaten. Party philosophy has been completely forgotten, or should I say sacrificed for greed.
The republicans and their allies the democrats fear competition and thus capitalism. They use gerrymandering and election laws to protect their forced collectivism. They have divided our country up into little thiefdoms to silence the voice of military veterans who refuse to join either progressive government party. Both progressive parties steal taxpayer dollars to run their so called private group..
I agree. it will take a long time and a few elections to get rid of the slimeballs.
You're an idiot. Nuff said.
So believers in "Christ" now use homosexual slurs?

I am glad you cleared that up for me. I was confused, now I see the errors of my ways. Debating ideology thru historical content equals hate?

This is only the beginning of RINO and establishment Republicans trying to infiltrate the tea party. Never take a politician at his word. Make them prove themselves with their deeds.
A Government Officials Most Important "Quality" ,, Is for ,, the People ,, you're Representing ,, To Know "EXACTLY" ,, Where You 'STAND" . You RINOs ,, See What Happens to SCOTT BROWN !!

Our troops do not fight for riches or fame, but for us. They are our family members and not mercenaries to be discarded after the battle. There is nothing more sacred to a republic than equal representation and nothing more evil than to silence the voice of someone who left pieces of themselves on the field of battle. The polarizing forced collectivism of the two party system using the evil act of gerrymandering effectively silences the voice of our heroes, it divides our country, it has bankrupted our country. Gerrymandering is the key tool the progressives use to gain power and to maintain it. Gerrymandering is one party rule on the local level.
Folks, the Internet is a wonderful instrument to communicate that a candidate or individual is not the person he/she seems to be. E-mail your friends and ask them to do the same with their friends, The word goes out very quickly. Call it wildfire mail.
Product of public education, undoubtedly. Lay off the caps lock, man.
And since when was getting teabagged a constitutional right? By all means, though, whatever floats your boat.
"Dear Britain: Lift the Ban on Michael Savage!"
This is the problem we all knew was coming. RINOs, progressive Republicans, trying to co-opt the Tea Party movement for their own political ends.
Sad, pathetically sad.
"Dear Britain: Lift the Ban on Michael Savage!"
Obviously you have not love.
Voting is a right and a responsibility.
Using one without the other is why we are here today.
The Tea Party is bringing them back together.
The best thing for America in a LONG time.
like I said before,…..
you can get more information about Cedra from this site than you can from local media,……….
I have not the slightest idea what chances are.
or MCCAIN…………..
Thanks. You're right – other than WLS-am, I don't think the local media wants a "fair" election.
Judge not lest ye be judged.
I reccomend you brush up on your history and see what non-white peoples did to indigenous cultures.
Meanwhile, do not mistake our ideas of compassion for hate. Just because we don't believe in monetary handouts directly to the needy does not mean we do not want to help them. Our idea of help is to make the needy *less* needy, not find a way to harness their need for our political gain.
In all fairness to Scott Rupp, he did attend the Lincoln County TEA Party on June 19th. I have a video of him being dunked at the dunking booth. I emailed his website to see if they wanted me to send them the video but I never heard from them.
Well-stated. I am of the opinion that anyone who runs for office now should have some executive experience, met a payroll, owned a business (and had to deal with all the admin BS mandated by our government). No more political class to run our lives (into the ground).
Yip! I'm an idiot!
Ever heard of Fox News??

You're right. Which is why I emply you to examine yourself! Ask why do you accept the lies from your tbagging leaders and Foxy Newsy.
Fox News fought and won a court order for the right to lie and skew the news. Why? Yet, you all listen to them and then claim Jesus. Oh, no I've never heard them say Jesus…they say god. Christ says there are many gods! What god are you all serving. I know it's not Christ becuase he HATES lies!
Evident by what?
The bible says: Judge ye not lest ye be judge by the same mete which ye judge!
READ IT!
I'm ready to be judged. Are you?
What are good ol' republican values?
When have they ever been implimented?
Regan? Didn'd he raise taxes three times on the middle class? Oh, but that's okay cause he's saint Ronnie!
Didn't he expand gov. and increase the big D?
What republican administration EVER cut taxes, decreased unemployment or cut the big D?
I'll be waiting in the next century for answer.
Republican values, by MY standards:
Small Government, and I am a Constitutional constructionist. Reagan wasn't perfect, but he was good in some areas. Perhaps he, too, was swayed by modern political structures. Perhaps the message of the TeaParty movement is to say, "Go back to the basics and follow the outline the founders gave you!" It's perfect. With your freedom of speech and assembly you have the rights to spread the word on issues and character relating to candidates/leadership that represents you or not. Then you have the right to vote them out. The problem lies in the fact that we ( the nation at large) have become lazy and disengaged. The power does really lie with the people. They just stopped using it or gave it away to the 'Political Class'.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
That's why politics is local. To vote for someone because of the imagery they have or to believe what any politician says without fact-checking leads is dereliction of democratic duty.
Whatever happened to fact checking? If the tea party movement wants to be effective if cannot eat alive its own. You must check facts people! You are discrediting our movement by negatively labeling some of our best, most effective leaders. I live in Senator Scott Rupp's district. I received the mailer in which McCarty is discussing in his blog. First of all, I have seen Senator Rupp at plenty of organized tea party events. He is a true Republican. He also is true to his constituiency. He does what is right by us which is what I expect I from the person who represents us. I have also viewed Senator Rupp's record. He wrote the strongest anti-illegal immigration bill in the ENTIRE country. Take a look people. His was passed well before Arizona's. So, please don't rip apart our finest. And shame on you for not doing research and following blindly. Isn't that what the democrats did when Obama was elected president? They blindly followed him because he offered hope and none of them bothered to look at the facts. Shame on you.
Senator Rupp is a small-business owner. Do some fact checking.
He also delivered a wonderful speech. Perhaps you were too far up on your high horse to see him.
I'm ready to be judged by a higher authority, but a seminar troll like you should be careful what you ask for.
Indeed, and in response to the comment above about the lack of national or state leadership being a problem of the movement, I think that's really a strength. It's up to each of us, in our local districts, to figure out who to believe, spread the word, and work to ensure that voters pay attention and show up in November. This is a local fight. We aren't here to do the bidding of a national leader. That's the liberal progressive model which treats us as mindless drones who should shut up and be grateful to do as we are told, because then we will get something for nothing in return. We need to be the civic leaders in our local areas, even if just among our own network of friends and contacts. Set a good example for others to follow.
