Republican Jo Ann Emerson Sponsoring Union Bailout Bill!
by Bob McCartyJo Ann Emerson is back in the news today as one of nine members of the U.S. House of Representatives sponsoring H.R. 3936, a $165 billion union pension bailout bill. But why?

It could be that the seven-term Republican elected in the 8th Congressional District of Southeast Missouri simply loves bailouts. After all, she did vote for the Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP) and “Cash for Clunkers”. But I don’t think her love for bailouts is the main reason why she is behind the bill.
Instead, I think her sponsorship of the union bailout bill stems from the fact that she is married to Ron Gladney.
In a May 3 post, I pointed out that her second husband is both a Democrat and an labor union attorney for St. Louis-based Bartley Goffstein LLC and that, according to Federal Election Commission records, she has received campaign contributions from a variety of union entities, including the AFL-CIO and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). And that’s not all!
In a post one week later, I highlighted the fact that her husband represents 12 powerful labor unions, including the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers for whom he serves as general counsel.
Furthermore, I mentioned she backed funding for costly projects in her district — including the $170 million Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge and the $62 million Rush H. Limbaugh Federal Building — from which her husband’s union friends likely received great benefit.
So, the answer to the question is simple. Congressman Emerson believes in bringing home the bacon — err, uh, pork — and putting it straight into her own husband’s skillet.

RINO ALERT!!!
This one has got to go!
$62 million for a federal building named after Rush? Is this an attempt to bring home the bacon while flying under the conservative radar?
Is there no Republican running against this fraud?
IT IS RINO SEASON, there is no bag limit…
I hope that Missouri voters throw the corrupt b*tch out in November.
Shes got to go. Might as well just put that "D" after her name, she has been outed as a Democrat in Republican clothing.
What obligation does the American taxpayer have to bailout the pension plans of private Unions? NONE!
If the union members are upset that their pension plans are underfunded they need to go after those responsible for that; THE UNION LEADERSHIP. Andy Stern, for example, left "his" union in a financial shambles. You can start your research here:http://www.workerfreedom.org/index.php?content=SE... and alsohttp://www.openmarket.org/2010/04/13/stern-jumps-...
SEIU under Andy Stern was nothing but a huge slush fund for the Democrat party and I suspect this will continue under the "new leadership".
A BIG RESOUNDING NO! NO! NO! TO THIS PIECE OF CRAP LEGISLATION.
Don't forget that the DINO's hold the purse strings right now and we need to go after them most of all!
Agreed. This porker rino(socialist progressive in disguise) has to go. However, more importantly,to stop this insanity, phone, fax, and write the members in congress to remind them that taxpayers are not responsible for bailing out unions due to union mismanagement of "their", not our, pension funds. True insanity is running rampant throughout our government, and this is just another great example of the graft and corruption within the circle of elected officials. I truly believe our politicos would sell their very souls for the almighty greenback(new socialist god) and damn the people stuck with paying the bills.
BTW, seiu mismanaged it own union dues to the tune of 91 million dollars. Is that next on BO's agenda? Is he trying to reward the unions for supporting his election in 2008 and for the fact that these very unions are going to donate something to the tune of 100 – 200 million dollars to the progressive elections this fall? This is pure BS.
This unfunded pension problem she is trying to solve with YOUR money is the giant elephant in the room. Government employees through the successes of their negotiations through their unions have set themselves up with a retirement program that can pay them as much or more than they made while working for the government. This is unsustainable. This will be the monster that crushes us all. So their answer is now to use your tax dollars to keep this shell game going. This is insanity.
This is ridiculous, though I knew it was coming. I don't have a pension myself, only the measly pittance I will get from SS after paying into that for over 40 years. But now they want my taxes to go for bailing out the Unions. I swear, I will not be paying any more taxes until this whole mess gets under control. No more bailouts, not for any company, including unions. I think all unions should be disbanded now anyway. They served their purpose in the 1800's. Now they are just more government corruption and thuggery.
And yes, Tea Partiers, let's get on this and find someone to replace her.
When you make poor decisions you must be willing to accept the consequences.
Electing union leaders who drive your employer into bankruptcy and spend your pension on supporting political hacks should have very severe consequences.
Bu Bye Jo Ann… Thanks for stopping by (not).
Is there not some conflict of interest laws being broken here? Married to the man who has a vested interest in the unions she is voting to bailout. She needs to go!
Close Encounters of The Turd Kind?
So essentially we are bailing out Unions so they can continue to use Federal money for the (Democratic Party)?
It is also fully understood that Unions are Obama's Brown Shirts, or in this case Purple Shirts. They can mobilize and show up on your doorstep, with just one phone call from Obama. Once they get their bailout, they will be even more uncivil in their tactics.
well, it wasn't rush, but his grandfather. but it still put money in union hands, so pure ham or bacon.
This is the Mother of all RINOs, get her out! AN MCcain is the father.
this is why rino's need to go. there are no famous moderates, only spineless moderates!
The unions can kiss my taxpaying a$$.
The private sector is being ravaged with no relief from the fraud in the White House and we have republicans advocating for a further fleecing of the taxpayer to benefit the democrat union parasites? We, and the EU, demand Greece make austerity cuts and rollback their leftwing policies and here we are doing exactly what the world forbid Greece from doing. We cannot continue down this road of redistributing wealth otherwise we will soon resemble the streets of Greece. Throw these swine out with the dems/liberals in November.
Progressive/Socialist RINO. We have to recognize that not all Republicans are real. A progressive/Socialist is a Progressive/Socialist by any other name would stink so foul.
Thanks to this kind of crap, we are all in debt for over $100K each. The American taxpayer has NO responsibility to prop up the socialist unions!
Throw the Bumette out!!!!
NOT A DIME! How much money did they spend taking 14 buses to peoples houses. You know they got paid to protest, they have no shame.
How about a (C) after her name for Corrupt!! From what I can see, she is an unchallenged Republican in the August MO. primary. Wow!
Epic Republifail, Jo Ann Emerson. We can see you're no conservative.
True Missy, and I want to know where the heck is the BUDGET?? What, they suddenly don't have to do one??? This is pathetic.
And this chick, 7 terms??? Enough already!!
It will be ONE of the monsters that crush us – what the EPA has been doing is down right insanity, usurping congress and sneaking in the back door!!
Not this crap again
are you sure the 'c' isn't for commie?!

Crap!
Holler and threaten about the purge in November all you want folks. Have you noticed that congress has just gone to WARP SPEED? They know. They also know we can't do a damn thing about ANYTHING TILL THEN. So they're just packing 4 years of crap bills into 6 months instead of 4 years.
Win even if they all lose. It will take YEARS TO UNDO THEIR LUNATIC MEDDLING. Just trying to FIND it will take forever, and then they and Obama will FIGHT TOOTH AND NAIL on ever frikkin one of them.
Course since NOBODY IN CONGRESS IS LISTENING I guess it's the best we can do. It's not like any of them give a shit what VOTERS WANT OR THINK, huh. My cousin is a congresswoman. R. She says they're makin paper airplanes out of our faxes and emails or using the back side for scratch pads.
I don't think this onslaught is gonna slow down, in fact I imagine it will speed up as we head into summer. When the bulk of candidates are out running for re-election, the folks like Pelosi and Reid will be back in the closets writing 3000 page bills with total impunity and ZERO accountability.
sigh
Welcome to the ProgLib Commie perpetual motion machine! Input money – output tyranny.
Boo and hiss!
Another gross example of public servants flipping the bird to the public and serving themselves.
Clean house, Republicans! Because if you don't, your shot at congressional power will be short-lived.
Ok, mob banks, mob unions, mob president, mob congresswoman….so when do we as taxpayers say enough?
Obama is the head puppet crook. Is Soros the Godfather?
What ever happened to declaring a conflict of interest? Without that declaration wouldn't this be considered bribery or vote buying? Time for these folks to be held accountable. Not just to the voter but to the LAW.
I have to say that I am incensed at this bill, and dumb-founded that any Republican would even consider voting for it, much less co-sponsoring the bill. This is legal corruption – worker's dues to political contribution to cash payment, with corrupt politicians and union leaders skimming at every step, keeping themselves fat and happy while our pay, our benefits go down to cover them. Any time for a primary challenge to this corruptican?
Government union.
Besides, how many of us still actually have a pension left. Most of those from corporate America disappeared years ago.

To be fair to McCain, I think he's just a totally self-absorbed pol who's in it for himself only. Ideologically, I think he leans to the right, but his own selfish interests keep getting in the way. Either way, he needs to go. There is no longer any room for people in Congress who can't think farther into the future than the next election or put their own concerns ahead of the good of the nation.
I understand McCotter is in a massively union controlled state and he has to give unions support or they take away his seat but his support for this bill is total BS! It is difficult to have credibility with voters on fiscal responsibility if you are supporting this crap while claiming everything else is excessive spending in a budget crisis!
He needs to wise up or he is a goner too!
[...] Republican Jo Ann Emerson Sponsoring Union Bailout Bill! [...]
I wonder if there are any functional guillotines available any more.
That bill is blatant corrupt cronyism. They need a pension bailout but they are planning to spend Millions in democratic campain contributions for the MID TERM elections.
http://usconstitutionalfreepress.wordpress.com/20...
If they need a bail out why are they blowing the pension fund on elections….? Oh right, cuz they can.
It's up to us to educate the voters of those districts as to what their representatives are doing. You can bet that there is no disclosure coming from these RINO's. WE have to expose them to their constituents if we want to be rid of them. I'd like to see Tea Party Express re-task itself to that objective.
Take a page from SEIU and roll the buses on these districts, only instead of congregating on one spot, disperse and go door to door informing everyone with pamphlets. That would probably be the fastest way to rid ourselves of these two-faced RINOs.
Thank you for keeping us informed on this, Bob McCarty. Excellent job! This is exactly the kind of story we need to be hearing. We can't act if we don't know.

This woman is voting pork for her own pocket! She's a corrupt politician if there ever was one!
Time to give the local dog catcher a promotion! Someone get him on the ballot! Sounds like we've discovered another pocket of "don't give a s#@t" in backwater USA. There's no excuse for anyone running unopposed. That's just pure apathy
Perhaps its time for that "unchallenged" to change. This could be the ammo a challenger would need!
NO, No, No to Jo Ann Emerson. Enough is enough, there's the door.

NO MORE BAILOUTS – VOTE THE STINKING SOCIALIST RINO OUT
The bill does nothing like what Bob McCarty says it does. The bill is designed to allow pension dollars from bankrupt companies to be separated from non-bankrupt companies, so that companies don't have the pay in to a plan for employees they never had (since the bankrupt company isn't paying any more). The PBGC is a pension insurance organization funded by premiums paid by the companies who participate, not the taxpayers. This is what one of the Republicans sponsoring the bill said about Fox News' reporting of the story. (Next Post)
From Steve LaTourette (R-OH): They’ve run this diagram and it really is a, I think, blaspheming my good friend Pat Tiberi from Ohio and indicating that there are nine Republicans supporting a bill that will bail out unions. Well, that’s nonsense and I don’t know who the pin head and weenie is at Fox News that decided to put that story together. But the true facts of this piece of legislation are as follows. This bill will save the taxpayers by saying to those corporations that have union pension plans, if you find yourselves in a bind, rather than thrusting that upon the taxpayer, it spreads out over five years the ability to bring those pension plans up to speed. That’s good government, it’s a good bill. It’s a good Tiberi bill and I don’t know what they’re doing at Fox News, but they should stop smoking it and get back to reporting the facts. ____Must be a RINO, though.______
Why are there no laws regarding conflict of interest when it comes to the government ? Because they make the laws. This is bullcrap. This biotch should be thrown out on her ass.
This RINO needs to be investigated, called out and kicked out! This is BLATANT misuse of government office for personal gain!
F'N #%*&^#@$*(^(&*#$&%^( AHHHHHH!
Like I posted yesterday, there were 12 Repubs on fox news that were voting for the bailout bill. She was one of them. We have to revive the pink slip again. Instead of a lot of rants and words in a letter, just a pink slip sent to their office saying good bye and good riddance.
I have the plans to build one!
Damn it! Why the hell are We The People responsible for paying the way of others who already have way more perks and benefits than everyone else?

Vote her out next election. Target her for replacement. We don't need Republicans like this. They are part of the problem, not the solution. Has she gotten lots of campaign funds from the unions?

Not as heavily unionized as you think and has only voted republican 1965 and 1933. I would like to here McCotters position on this before i pass judgement. He posts here quite often so perhaps we will get a chance to ask him directly. Hey Tahdeus you listening cause we need to talk.
I hate to say it, but that woman doesn't look too bright!!! A real dimwit!!
I'll give him a chance to explain EXACTLY why but if it doesn't make sense then he needs to know it!
Not as heavily unionized as you think and has only voted republican 1965 and 1933. Lots of small feeder industries mostly non-unionized and a lot of comercial. I would like to here McCotters position on this before i pass judgement. He posts here quite often so perhaps we will get a chance to ask him directly. Hey Thadeus you listenin, cause we need to talk.
yeppers thats the way it should work and Thaddeus sorry about the typo above no offense intended ( its not nice to get a mans name wrong)
In my opinion we don't need to spend $165 Billion (actually around 230 after interest accrued) to bail out yet another group of "private entities", especially ones that also have the benefit of the Little Davis Bacon Act and the upcoming "card check" bill!
Nope marriage is not a conflict. The left just tried to push that on Clarence Thomas wife.
It is amazing how Jo Ann Emerson/Gladney has stayed under the radar. It is also amazing how the media has kept my challenge to Mrs. Emerson/Gladney off the radar. I am Bob Parker, I am challenging Emerson in the Aug. 3 primary. I am a strong Constitutional/Conservative, PRO LIFE, PRO GUN, PRO America! You can check out my views and issues on my website,http://www.electbobparker.com and I am also on facebook and twitter. You can see my speeches on youtube and Viddler.
It is time for RINO Emerson/ Gladney to be run out of office. I am a tea party style of candidate. I think both parties our not representing us as with the prime example of Emerson here in my district. We must cut spending, cut taxes, cut the size of government. I have been in private business for 33 years in this district. I am a rancher and a realtor. I had a dairy farm for years here. This big government is killing our freedom and our country. We must Take America Back!

Agreed
If they scrap Little Davis Bacon and "card check" then "maybe"…
If they get more money, they will have more power. We have to stop giving thugs our money. We stop the money flowy they will have no power, or a job.
Why exactly does the union need to be bailed out? They get union dues every week from it members that are working at a set wage that is above what the industry can actually afford. Could it be that they people in charge of the movie forcibly donated to the unions have mismanaged the money? Could it be that they have spent more money then they forcibly collect from union members? Could it be that they have more people in the upper management taking more than their fair share of the funds collected?
Unions are a perfect example of collectivism/socialism. All union members contribute to the whole and all take equally from the whole regardless of what they have contributed.
Maybe she is voting for this crap because she doesn't understand what she is doing. She appears to be a HEAVY drinker, you can see it in her face. I call for drug and alcohol testing of EVERY government employee. We need sober, practical people in DC. On the other hand, she is in bed with the enemy.
More than likely, NONE of this crap will be undone.
Seeing a Republican contribute to collectivism isn't surprising, but it's still a little disheartening. It's all the more reason to weed these RINOs out as soon as possible.
All Hail the RINOS
She needs a good dose of tea party political career fear.
Media Matters is up to their old tricks. They claim that the amount of the bailout (which they claim isn't a bailout), is only 8-10 billion. They are wrong.
Moody's has already assessed the number of underwater pensions to be around $165 billion, which is why that number has been floating around. This was not cooked up by some right wing conspiracy, but rather by an independent organization that is responsible for providing accurate data for a lot of decisions that investors make worldwide.
More info here: http://netrightdaily.com/2010/05/union-pension-ba...
You have lost all credibility here, continue to post your drivel if you like, but it's a waste of time.
With goofy eyes like hers, it's a small wonder she can't see wht the F is going on around her.
Her husband is no friend of America. Since she is screwing a known enemy, I think she should be sent home for another job. I don't want her "representation" any longer.
Wake up Missouri!
Media Mutters, Daily Kos, etc. are just Propoganda shills similar to Nazi germany's machine, truth is something they are trying to create, regardless of facts, they are subjective in everything except their desire to control the world via the leftist agenda.
Tell big lies and hope everyone will argue over details without investigating or looking at the larger principles.
Who cares how much money it is, is it right to redistribute tax payers money to a specific industry for political purposes?
No, that's where they don't want the argument to go
Two too many face lifts for her!
http://www.semissourian.com/story/1631067.html Candidate Bob Parker questions Emerson's ties to Unions.
Hey Ralph,
You know the fastest way to kill them all and still not have to fight a dozen lawsuits over every one of them is to leave them in place and just DEFUND THEM. Then take our time to toss or tweak them as we go forward. That way the freaks and their pit bull lawyers won't keep everything tied up in SCOTUS BS.
This is something to be avoided if Obama stacks the court. First PRO ACTIVE bill I'd pass is TERM LIMITS FOR EVERYONE IN GOV'T INCLUDING THE SCOTUS….hell, ESPECIALLY them. Nobody should have a guaranteed job for life in gov't.
I found my congressman on the list too. We are not a heavily unionized area considering Georgia is a right to work state. Here is a link to his press release:http://linder.house.gov/index.cfm?FuseAction=News...

love your take on this Tex,………….
as long as all this crap is gone when the dust settles.
I'm waiting for a RINO horn to start growing out of her forehead.
How to Spot a RINO…
- Freedom of speech is fine as long as I am not offended by it.
- I am 26, sponging off my mom and I want free Health Care.
- I want government to tax your earnings and give me things I want.
- Murdering helpless babies is ok as long as we keep all death row inmates alive.
- I want government to give Mexican imigrants free health care and education at your expense.
- Pouring water on a terrorist's face is horrible, but killing a baby in the womb is good.
- Global Warming is a fact, even if those scientists can't tell the weather for next week.
- Profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but taxing the same gallon of gas at 25% is good.
- I want government to take all businesses profits and use them to support illegal imigrants.
- If I knock-up my girlfriend I want government to pay her to kill the baby.

Hell, congressmen have bailed out companies in which they hold a financial stake and who employ them after the leave office (See: Goldman Saks). They disclose it in a memo somewhere after the "Sen. So and so authorizes national hot dog day" and no one reads it.
Her cheeks say she is 20 something,……
