Census Worker Charged With Rape, Burglary
by Bob McCartyBarely three months after I advised Americans to Think Twice Before Opening Door to Census Worker, two Indiana women were allegedly attacked by 39-year-old Daniel Miller, a U.S. Census worker who had been on the job for two weeks and now faces rape and burglary charges, according to a news report out of Indianapolis.
A report issued by the Government Accountability Office Oct. 7 revealed that approximately 785 employees with disqualifying criminal records could end up working for the Census Bureau this year. Excerpts (below) show the exact wording of the agency’s frightening information about the people who go door to door conducting interviews and collecting information for the 2010 Census:
The Bureau’s efforts to fingerprint employees, which was required as part of a criminal background check, did not proceed smoothly, in part because of training issues. As a result, over 35,000 temporary census workers — over a fifth of the address canvassing workforce — were hired despite the fact that their fingerprints could not be processed and they were not fully screened for employment eligibility.
…of the prints that could be processed, fingerprint results identified 1,800 temporary workers (1.1 percent of total hires) with criminal records that name check alone failed to identify. Of the 1,800 workers with criminal records, approximately 750 (42 percent) were terminated or were further reviewed because the Bureau determined their criminal records — which included crimes such as rape, manslaughter, and child abuse — disqualified them from census employment.
…we estimate that approximately 785 employees with unclassifiable prints could have disqualifying criminal records but still end up working for the Bureau.
Whether or not Miller cleared a background check is not known at this time.

Okay, I know you hate anyone working for the government bureaucrats because they are always out recruiting people for communism, but this article is ridiculous. Also, where do any of you get your information on who works for the census? I actually go door to door for NRFU census and I am a white male aged 20. So its not just an affirmative action hire dipshits. As a matter of fact most of the workers in my district are white females between the age of 45 and 60.

Most of us here (I think) don't assume that ALL census workers are "reformed" felons. But obviously, there are some. And the actions of criminals get reported much more than the actions of the good workers (rule of journalism: dog bites man = no story; man bites dog = story). Even more reason to conclude that the Federal Government can not manage even simple things like The 2010 Census. It's hard to believe that with all the resources at thier, The Federal Government, finger tips, they can't even conduct a complete background check on those they hire! The Federal Government offers top pay and great benefits and they still can't manage to hire people to get the job done. If these worthless employed with our Government held positions in Private companies, they would be on the un-employment line.

The Constitution trumps Title 13. Artticle I requires the counting of citizens only. This is why no fines have been levied since 1960. And then, only two people were fined.
BTW I have no problem and if fact have participated in the count, but all questions not mandated by the Constitution are irrelevent and if fact un-Constitutional.

I did return the form, put in the mail 4/2/10 as it said as of 4/1/10 for number of people living in your home. Anyway they showed up at my house last night. I just told him I returned the form and if they did not like my answers to bad. It is a count they do not need any more info than I gave. Said they'd be back. Waste of my hard earned money.

If they did, then the employees quit and got jobs with their previous employers' competitors–you know, the ones who paid better.
Case in point: FedEx Office (Called FedEx Kinko's when I worked there) didn't pay the copy jockeys squat (post training ~ $9/hr). The qualified staff were quitting in droves to go to Staples, OfficeMax, etc because they paid over $10/hr. Very shortly thereafter, I found myself with a raise. In one fell swoop, suddenly I was making $12/hr instead of $9. I stayed with FedEx.
If a company has a monopoly, it's exempt from this kind of free market self-regulation. Monopolies will screw everyone, but by and large, the free market works. The private company I work for now, definitely not screwing me on the paycheck.
Census worker came to my house last night, nice young girl. I made sure my two dogs came with me to the door, barking away, when I opened the door, I had to hold them back (unbeknownst to her, from licking her to death). In the middle of the ruckus, I said there's two people living here, and closed the door. End of story.

" – the article did not say most of the census workers are criminals, it said that there are a large number (in the thousands) of census workers that were hired without or despite background checks, as the perpetrator of this crime was. Considering that this is the federal government, and these people are being sent door to door throughout the country, someone reasonable would expect that NONE would be put on the street without a background check first. If you'd read the article more slowly, perhaps, you might have realized they said thousands, not "most". But then you couldn't have had your visceral knee jerk response.

Sustainable? Government bureaucracies are more ineffective than private industry, but they arent worthless. A private census industry would indeed work well and get the job done, but would cost 5 times the current system. And this wouldnt be because the money is trickling down to the workers either.
Will the Federal Government take responsibility for sending a rapist to the homes of innocent American Citizens? As the employer, do the victims get to sue the Government as the responsible party. I know that all other businesses are responsible for their employees actions while they are on the time clock. Or is this another deal where they say that private business are responsible to ensure that their employees do not sexually harass or abuse other employees or clients but the government can walk away scott free. I say Obama has some answering to do. I mean isnt he the ultimate employer here. Had this been Bush, they would be asking for his resignation by now.
