Prelude To Card Check? President Racks Up Dems on Key Labor Board

This weekend the president named a key SEIU lawyer to the quiet but crucial National Labor Relations Board through a controversial recess appointment.
By doing so, the president has gone well outside the norm of history by failing to appoint a Republican and Democrat at the same time. Some worry he is trying to stack the deck to make sure government can — as they have said in their own words — “change the rules governing forming a union through administrative action” even without passing a card check bill.
TheTruthAboutEFCA.com tracked down an expert who is a previous NLRB member, and he said:
“The NLRB is now 3 to 1. On August 27, it will be 3 to 0. Not since the New Deal and first six years of the NLRB, 1935-1941, has the Board been all Democrats or all from one party. Labor law reform followed in 1947 to balance the scales. Is the past to be prologue”

This card-check thing — It will force honest workers to act against their own interests. The only reason the union thugs want card check is a historic fact: Non-union workers, not wanting to provoke the thug organizers, SAY they will vote for the union. Then, when they cast their secret ballot, they vote against the union.
This infuriates the thugs. They want the worker to look the thug in the face and say no. At that point, the thugs will criminally attack the worker or the worker's family. Everyone at every level knows this is the reasoning behind doing away with the secret ballot.

Unions drive up the cost of labor and goods. That cost must be passed on to a consumer. When that consumer has to buy the goods he can buy elsewhere at a better price simply because they're made in the USA, he loses money. Businesses that produce consumer products do so to stay in business and aren't in the business of losing money because they'd go out of business. If the cost of business becomes too great, they either close down, leave the country for cheaper labor and/or outsource. Who can blame them. The drive to engage in the global economy will has have deleterious effects on our fiscal security and unions have played a major role. What price our posterity?

The Obama bill left the for profit health care delivery system in place which was a big mistake… but one that will be fixed in the future. This bill was only the beginning of reform and there will be many improvements as we slog through the process of reform. Social Security and Medicare did not happen over night and this won't either.
The one thing I'm sure of is that angry spitters on the right will not repeal reform. You will split and marginalize yourselves and the Republican party until you morph into something that works for people and not corporations.
The health care reform bill got 60 votes in the Senate in December before being passed intact by the House and will need 60 senate votes to roll back… and 67 to over ride a presidential veto.
I saw Sarah Palin address the teapeople in Nevada… you're done.
Then Scott Brown ran as the 41st vote, and won Kennedy’s seat in MA. So in typical liberal form the democrats not accepting reality, sidestepped parliamentary rules, the conference committee, and used budget reconciliation, too pass that monstrosity despite what the public wanted. We’ll see how that works out for you in November?

I think the right has misread the results of the MA election. They think it was about health care when it was really about the economy. The next time Scott faces the voters of MA it will be on a ballot headed by Barack Obama and he will be facing the full weight of the Democratic machine in that state. If he can't capture the middle he will lose big. And you don't capture the middle in MA by voting with Republican Dixiecrats.
