Health Care Deform Would Be More Than a Pest for Caterpillar
by Bret JacobsonThe president’s health care bill isn’t going to come cheap for us as taxpayers or employers. In fact, the latest estimate from Caterpillar is enough to make you want to climb into a cocoon.
Dow Jones reports: “Caterpillar Inc. said the health-care overhaul legislation being considered by the U.S. House of Representatives would increase the company’s health-care costs by more than $100 million in the first year alone.”
As LaborUnionReport says over at RedState: “The sucking sound that will be heard will be more UAW jobs”

Huh, hasn't everybody against this disaster been saying this for about a year?
Little hard for these unions to get worker benefits from employers when there is no employers.
Here comes 15% permanent unemployment. I am so sick of this sh*t. I have gone form being inactive to active to now rabid. I will spend every penny I can to turn this around before these parasitic whores get their hands on it to use for more bribes!
Please tell me you didn't vote for Obama. If you did, have no fear half the people who come here voted for O and are now disgusted.
When people have to depend on the Government they will be afraid to speak or act out, their freedoms will be diminished, and their options for dissent will be reduced.
There is no puzzle here, the Mad Hatter and his cronies like all of this, its been their plan from day one.
These ideologues, these so-call Dim-mock-rats, simply don't care about the human costs of their adventures.
Time to reconsider my long-term CAT investment strategy…that sucks, it was doing pretty good.
Everyday under this administration makes me think of that sign they have hanging at BUDS…"The only easy day was yesterday".
NO! I did not like McCain, but I saw this A-hole for what he is a mile away. Although I must say Obamao exceeded my expectations (sarc).
Health care Deform! Isn't that clever!? You took the R and turned it into a D! Kind of like the American people did with our government the last to major election cycles! Clever!
One of the few perks my wife and I allow ourselves is eating out several times a month at downscale restaurants, so that is one way to get a feel for the economy. During the last month two nearby places have closed doors, one of which after being in business 25+ years. Another owner we chated with a few minutes said he was holding on for now but said he greatly worried about the healthcare bill passing. Just yesterday at yet another, as my wife was there for 15 minutes picking up a gift certificate to give to a friend as a thank-you present, three people stopped in seeking jobs.
This bill will be another nail in the coffin of our economy.
Caterpillar is a credible, old line company. One of the few real solid company's still in the DOW component.
I'd trust Caterpillar, before I'd trust Barrack Hussein Obama.
This is important:

It should be a game changer.
The CBO just came out late today, and said the REVISED numbers shove the Health Care Hoax into the RED.
It was typical of the MSM to tout the CBO's numbers when in fact it was no more than a 'guess', yet piggy pelosi and BO ran with it – I agree with butterball Dick Morris, it was their attempt to deflate our sense of believing we have had any influence. Typical slimy lefty tactic – sorry for them, I think it backfired, more people got even more energized
Tell me I wasn't the only one who fed-exed my congressman with a note of encouragement?! Cost a bunch of money but hoping it was worth it!

Is this really the best you can come up with? Go away pathetic troll.
CBO…. Talk about useful idiots! They use a specially designed calculator. Government issue you know, top of the line really… It's… well, MAGIC! We are just to dumb to understand how it can make everything better by just wishing and hoping.
These people are making my hair follicles hurt!
Oncommonground Batt here, sorry it took a while but I got Bob McConnell's site link.

check it out.
Here comes INFLATION!!! When all of the companies factor in the increased taxes it will pass along to consumers. They pass it along or go tits up. CAT is a good sized company, so is VZ, ATT, DELL, MSFT etc…
Those are all bad enough. Now realize that Safeway and all the transportation companies in the domestic food chain supply will also be raising prices to cover this. These are the HIDDEN COSTS that Barack Hussein Obama forgot to tell Americans about.
TAKE OUT THE TRASH DAY is coming in this NOVEMBER to REMEMBER!!!
Thanks for that, I appreciate it!
how "convenient" that this was released FRIDAY AT FRIGGIN 6:33PM!!!!! (just like the FDIC does when they announce bank failures)…….the count for bank failures last year? It was a record 137…so far this year, 37 have failed, inlcuding the 4 that failed today..
The Chicago way.

Someone better find a solution.
"CBO estimates that enacting H.R. 3961 together with those two bills would add $59 billion to budget deficits over the 2010–2019 period. That amount is about $10 billion less than the figure that would result from summing the effects of enacting the bills separately."
How is this not news???
What is going on, they are just going to steam roll over everything and anything for the namesake of Obama?
cbo.gov/ftpdocs/113xx/doc11376/RyanLtrhr4872.pdf
Heck! Mexicans have proven themselves to be hard-working dudes. I'm sure they would LOVE to have the entire Caterpillar manufacturing operation relocate south of the border.
The transportation costs of delivering the Cats would be essentially the same; the labor costs, especially minus the massive health care price tag would be even lower than they are now; and, bug buyers could be rewarded with side-trips to close-by magnificent seaside resorts, especially in the winter.
All over the world, low-wage countries are smacking their chops over the probable exodus of the last of America's great manufacturing operations into their midst.
What's the REAL agenda of this crowd of nattering noodleheads? When they say "CHANGE," do they mean reducing us to the lowest common denominator of economic and social existence so we can all be one with the world?
What's NEXT on their agenda? Reduction of the budgets for everything they hate like our national security apparatus to pay for this monstrosity?
Watch out! It's coming! At the rate they are going with this Gordian Knot of legislation, they're going to ignore everything that gave us a decent standard of living all for the sake of ensuring equality of outcome for 30 million of the uninsured, who make up a sizable portion of their usual voters who don't pay any taxes.
Dow Jones news service? Seriously? $100 million the first year?
God you people are stupid.
Aw, it's good ole Bret Jacobson, the Union Buster, speaking up for the American worker. Jacobson, the American worker does not need your advice.
What's your point tool?
God you're a moron.
I guess the union members should have thought of that before they helped elect "The One."
There are going to be a whole lot more than just union jobs lost.
Good for you, Red47! That's walking your talk!
I have yet to understand why you choose "DumbQuestion" as your name…..there has not been one dumb question I have seen come from you!
I agree, with every spare penny my husband and I have, it is being spent to kill the parasitic whores in this country…and we too are sick of this sh!t…….but have always been somewhat close to rabid. Welcome to my world!
Randy12, I know you from the Bigs, but I am astounded how many people seem to just now be figuring out what has been going on the past couple of years.
I hope they really do intend to stay "tuned in" and help us with The Little Flush this fall and The Big Flush in 2010. (The wording is by Darkwolf, by the way.)
It would be quite difficult to find a reputable U.S. company that I DIDN'T trust more than Barrack Hussein Obama. Mmmmmm mmmmmmm mmmmmmm.
Isn't it amazing that most of our media outlets don't think that is important enough to print.
I say, if this country's currency fails, we find the MSM and take turns stuffing some of those $1s, $5s, and $10s down their sorry socialist throats.
Why not? The money will be worthless, and it could be a lot of fun.
Yeah, and not all those "necessary" price increases on our food due to the higher cost of gasf have gone down yet. Can't wait til they increase it more.
People around here are stocking up on rice, dried beans, and other such items.
My point is Dow Jones news service has no credibility. None. It's just a bunch of right wing scum who thought it'd be effective to use the "Dow Jones" moniker to mislead a bunch of ignorant rednecks into voting against their own best interests.
I'll openly admit it works. Witness making money off of biggovernment.com.
YOU are the solution!
I am the solution!
We are ALL the solution!
We have been napping while the kindling was being laid down…
I think you meant to spell 2 "two."
I am sure you didn't mean to spell it "to."
That would be NOT CLEVER!!!
Recently, a friend told me that a home building company placed an ad in the Austin paper for someone to simply sit at the homes and let people view them. (NOT a real estate agent.)
The pay was very low.
There were over 200 applicants.
I have been thinking about this too…but then..we must ask ourselves, isn't this exactly what O said he was going to do….he is fundamentally changing our nation. I grieve!

You bet, I told Bob I would try to spread it around, he said go for it !!!!
Just curious, and you don't have to answer, but do live in the Colorado third?
anon has NO point, just another useful idiot – ignore the pointless one who tries oh so hard to irritate when in fact, he/she just makes a fool of themselves –
Remember Obama's speech at Caterpillar during the campaign? Now you know what his 'word' is worth.
i still say anon is a basement full of trolls all using the same nic
Sounds about right hippie, or some lost soul with multiple personalities?!
So dang mad that I couldn't get to DC tomm -
Nope, I do not live there. But I don't live in MA either and did all I could do from here for Scott Brown –
people are too engaged at this point and see every race as one that could/would effect all of us!
Btw, great looking web site -
Drudge says 100,000 calls per hour to Congress. Keep calling!
I know a few people that are stocking up on canned foods and dried foods…Seems like a smart thing
to do!!…..
My pantry is well stocked and the guns have a lot of extra ammo. This will be a nasty summer here in Phoenix. My 2 adult kids and I are packing "go" bags and keeping the tanks over 1/2 full at all times. Two vehicles with 3 drivers and 2 dogs that can both cover 500 miles on 1 tank of gas. Hope it does not come down to that but we will also be grabbing some new gas cans very soon. Even though we have lots of history here, there are more important things than a house with stuff. One laptop and a connection and funds go where you want. Some extra cash on hand and a little gold buys a bit of time in the boonies if the shit hits the fan in this city.
My sincerest compliments, Connie. Wise.
You are not alone in your preparations.
There are those extremely high in our military who have had stocked underground bunkers for some time now.
All this doom and gloom! We can all just sign on as government workers. They got plenty of money, and good insurance. What's the problem?
Of all of the insane claims Obama has made about this bill, I think one of the most bizzare is when he talks about employers dropping coverage under this bill and giving employees the difference in raises. WTF The president must get some good stuff to smoke in the White house.
great picture! I've been there at the FDR memorial. "The Bread line'… kinda looks like that's where we are heading with MaoBama at the helm.
I think the real point is that it won't cost them $100mil. They won't accept that sort of loss and so they will make it up or offset it in some way. Typically that would be through layoffs, plant closings, reduced wages or benefits. In other words this bill will mean more unemployed people with no insurance. Sounds like a great plan Mr. President.
Hey dummy, Dow Jones news is reporting on a letter Caterpillar wrote directly to Pelosi. They're not inventing news, just reporting.
I want to be there but gotta work
You close by?
You have stated my feelings exactly. I am adding my time to my money. I intend to become a precinct captain and do what I can to influence candidates.
See you at the finish line, if there is one.
Exactly the purpose of the student loan takeover by the feds that they attached to this bill. Unless you have wealthy parents to pay for college or can manage scholarships, you must rely on the government. Want you loans forgiven? Just work for the government a few years after graduating. The icing on the cake is unionizing all those young grads.
And the way things are going, that is where the only new jobs will be found. Government control K-12 – college – and beyond.

He's doing exactely what he said he was going to do……..He is 'fundamentally transforming America"……….into the United States of Detroit. Welcome to Rhodesia………………….Welcome to Zimbabwe. We're a fukn Banana Republic. I can't believe it. I can't believe that America elected a Kenyan born communist muslim as our leader. We deserve everything that this idiot does to us. The price to be paid for electing this fear mongering doom prophet liar-in-chief.
I still blame McCain for Obama's election. McCain was playing too nice–meanwhile O's team was using Alinsky times 1000 tactics. It shows what a poor politician McCain actually is if he couldn't see what was happening right before his eyes.
McCain should have taken his gloves off. Palin nimination put him within 5 points of Obama…he had the momentum.
If this passes we can all say goodbye to freedom in this country. The Stalinist in office will have introduced stage one. It will get worse after that mark my words (this goes out to these non-thinking progressive types who elected and support this vermin occupying the WH). Good Lord people. Read history.

I haven’t seen or heard about something like this in ages. Awesome!
What about the human cost of the ignorant positions from the "God sanctioned" GOP? To deny health care and allow insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies to run our lives for grotesque profits is not better. We are slipping into third world nation status and people are dying here while supposed "conservatives" and "patriots" play politics. Talk about RATS…….
"…when there "are" no employers." If there are none, it will also be because of the corruption and ignorance of the GOP and its sheep supporters who believe in this garbage. The GOP enjoyed complete control of Washington, being defacto "insiders", and deregulated everything so their corporate and banking buddies could reap in huge profits and screw over the working people. It is curious that any real conservatives would support spending a couple of trillion dollars on wars with BORROWED MONEY and then become outraged over a long overdue overhaul of a broken and non sustainable health care system.
At least we do not have the Saudi Connection/ Oil Cartel, Big Business Little King George crooks anymore. The same old tired anti-union arguments by our fanatical author here aside, the desperation of those in the GOP who do not support cleaning up this corrupt mess of a health care system, which is going to go broke if not reformed, is really showing now. All our ultra "more patriotic than me" tea baggers are whipped up into a frenzy by Rush and Glen. What a joke. Texas has now allowed Thomas Jefferson and his key contribution of separating church and state to be omitted from text books on behalf of religious fanatics and lunatics on the BOE. (A vital part of our Constitution which guarantees that nut cases can handle snakes and NOT be regulated by the government) It looks like you good people of Texas need to clean up your own house before criticizing other parts of the nation………
Our bloated "national security" apparatus should definitely be reviewed in its waste and fraud. This "monstrosity" will only get worse with inaction and we can enjoy status equal with Mexico and other second and third world nations with the "solutions" you supposed conservatives offer in your comical opposition to every and any legislation offered by the Obama administration. I love how the poor and working poor Americans are always demonized by you right wingers…….shame on you. They help to create the wealth for all you supposedly overtaxed Americans. We are a part of the world, especially the third world with non support for living wages for our workers with no access to health care…….a dream of conservatism for decades, to create a banana republic here.
It seems our current economic demise is a direct result of the unregulated greed preached by the GOP and its captive adherents who were led to believe they are more special than other Americans because they could play the stocks while our nation was being sold out by Biff the Banker on Wall Street. BTW, Biff is a Republican.
Nope, in IL – are you closer?
