Shame On You, Big Labor
by Bret JacobsonThere are serious protests going on in Albuquerque by a local Carpenters union. But one company is fighting back and the story is starting to get interesting. It turns out things aren’t exactly as they seem:
So temp employees without benefits are being hired by a union to protest a company that offers good wages and benefits? As Tony The Tiger would say, GRRREEEEEAAAAT.
Best part: the union watchman suddenly forgets English. Obviously, this is nothing new but it’s so easy to confuse people in the community who aren’t used to hearing about these kinds of campaigns.

The day of the productive union has passed these people should learn how to negotiate a "private contract" with their employer, they would be much better off not being dependent on political hacks…
As we know progressive love never ending "dependence" on others, that is the power base of "progressive" political strategy and the radical left knows it.
Unions need to be relegated to the pages of history books. They specifically should have no place in our government both federal and municipal. They negotiated themselves into impossible contracts for the states to maintain.
The silver lining of the recession is that it has exasperated the problem to the point that it is showing on our radars.
We need to keep articles like this in the media to get the anti-union sentiment cranked up to where it legitimately belongs. When the bright light of day shines on these scum, they will be done. Perversely we have Obama to thank for this re-emergence of conservativism.
"For my protection I have no comment".
hahahahahahaha
What a load of BS, the union can't have it both ways…
uh uh
Typical union tactics…lies, intimidation, threats…sounds JUST LIKE OBAMA!
An NBC affiliate looking under a labor rock? Look out for low-flying pork!
Decent folk ought to be getting tired of this UNION shakedown nonsense.
I expect it to get worse as the unions approach their death throws… they will flail about uncontrolably, followed by a sudden silence.
Too funny the Union members are too lazy to protest so they go hire some day laborers to do it for them! If I where the company they are protesting against I'd go offer the day labor protesters the jobs of the Union employees who are too lazy to protest.
"The end justifies the means" is their motto! It's not how it is, it's how it appears!
No purple shirts? No orange shirts. No bullhorns? Where is Andy and Bertha? I can't believe they didn't show.
Being from a union stronghold area where people have been brainwashed for decades about how great unions are, this looks very familiar to me. Unions are totally worthless in my book. They there strictly for the union bosses who live large off the backs of the rank and file.
Astroturf
They there strictly for the union bosses who live large off the backs of the rank and file.
Just as the likes of Al Sharpton and Jessie 'Hymietown' Jackson benefit from keeping their "constituencies" on the plantation.
and high flying crap
There are millions of people out of work. Keep those who are willing to toss out the union and fire the rest.
If they spent as much time working as they did protesting, i think people would be a bit more sympathetic
Wonder if he is afraid of the union?
http://carpenterslocalunion1319.org/ Under construction? Must be too busy picketing.
Let me encourage you to direct all questions and comments to <celindah@swcarpenters.org> regarding the unions activities.
Personally I'm curious why carpenters would need welding classes.
Lazy, Corupt, Thugs have always been my description of your average Union Worker. This article credits the Lazy, Kenneth Gladney case credits the Thugs, and Andy Stern credits the Corupt.
Good…….Stand up to these thugs and goons…………
America has had enough
'Shame On You, Big Labor'
Impossible, they have no shame.
Classic Acorn and Alinsky, Mobilize a bunch of Idiots who are only there to sway public opinion with the hope that this contractor will cave from the negative publicity and become unionized. I ask though, what kind of union doesn't man its picket line with its members? a spineless one who must not believe their "cause" is worth fighting for themselves.
So the union members are so lazy that they can't even show up for their own protest so they have to pay others to picket for them while they do nothing…….which unions are very good at.
Maybe this will help rid the trash out of the unions and let them go back to their real purpose
Five Wisconsin residents, including two who worked for community organizing group ACORN, were charged Monday with election fraud relating to the 2008 presidential election.
State Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced felony charges against Maria Miles, Kevin Clancy, Michael Henderson, Herbert Gunka and Suzanne Gunka.
Miles and Clancy worked for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now and are accused of submitting multiple voter registration applications for the same individuals, including each other, to meet voter registration quotes imposed by the community organizing group.
Henderson is charged with one count of voting by a disqualified person and providing false information to election officials. The allegation claims he was on a felony probation and prohibited from voting at the time.
Herbert and Suzanne Gunka are each charged with double voting — a felony — by allegedly absentee voting and then going to the polls to vote.
"The integrity of elections is dependent upon citizens and officials insisting they be conducted lawfully. Wisconsin's citizens should not have to wonder whether their vote has been negated or diminished by illegally cast ballots," Van Hollen said.
My FoxMilwaukee reported that neither could immediately be reached for comment, and it was unclear whether they had lawyers.
Each individual charge carries a potential penalty of imprisonment up to three and a half years and a $10,000 fine. They are scheduled to appear in court on April 20.
Probably, says a lot about card check doesn't it?
Sounds Reagan like……:)
McCarron (Carpenter's Union) is closely associated with Andy Stern (SEIU) and uses the same tactics and strategies. In this case, lying about a non-union sub-contractor that actually pays good wages and benefits.
Linking to the local companies site where they are fighting back, good info: http://lonesun.wordpress.com/about/
Carpenter's Union Local 1319 using non-union day laborers without benefits when there are union day laborers available.
Why are they protesting against a company that pays good wages and benefits because the workers have no interest in joining a union. Meanwhile, Local 1319, which btw isn't very local to NM (LA controlled), is bleeding membership across the country, raiding pensions, outrageous "organizer" salaries, etc.
Carpenter's Union is closely connected to SEIU and Andy.
Might not lead to war, but it will get pretty ugly. People like those who head the unions are an ugly bunch and indistiguishable from the mob, are very likely to go down fighting. They have had a very successful forray into accomplishing their nefarious goals through buying politicians, Obama being the biggest and brightest example, that the battle will be at the ballot box,,,,,,this time!
Once they begin to die things will get uglier, but without popular support, thier violence will be limmited to individuals in places to maintain their political influence.
That's part of the problem, the carpenters aren't protesting. They hired non-union day laborers to picket sites where non-union contractors are working.
The union is Carpenters and Joiners hence the welding. Although in the trade today, carpenters are also cross-trained in some metal working because of the materials used on job sites.
If I understand correctly, you believe that Unions should be charges under RICO acts. OUTSTANDING IDEA !!!
I think we may be missing something! Defeat the unions and by default we defeat Obama's suicide mission. If there were one thing that everybody, with the exception of union members, can get behind is drumming up what scum bags the unions are. Focus, Alinsky-like on the unions, pillory them, riducule them shine bright lights on their activities, for if we can kill their influence we won't have people (tools) like Obama to deal with. Obama is the weed that the unions water. Cut off the water!

so who do they send over to protest non-union protestors?
Our a loud BANG!
Liberal protesters who don't want publicity are the best kind.

But they'll try. When I lived in Flint, MI, the local union threatened to shut down the local mall if Dayton Hudson (i.e. Target) didn't unionize. That's a good way to keep commerce flowing in a dying city.
The people who head the unions are rich and live in mansions and play at their own country clubs.
Here's the thing about Union rank and file employees. Most of them are hard-working, decent human beings who, at the end of the day, just want a paycheck. It is the union leaders who screw everything up by inflating their demands and barely trickling down the wealth to the members. Blame management, not the employees (most of them anyway).
These temporary workers better hope the true employer with benefits don't recognize them when the shop for a real job!!
I recall a concentrated effort several years ago in our region against Wal-Mart because they are non-union and won't permit the United Food and Commercial Workers Union to organize their clerks. This was a bit more high-profile than the usual union grousing, so I paid a bit more attention and did a little research. Of course … all of the attack and smear ads originated from the UFCW. Sorry to say, UFCW's little protests had minimal or no effect; they were pretty much ignored out of existence. That might be the best way to deal with them, assuming, of course, they limit their protests to TV and print ads and don't get creative with baseball bats.
(By the way, I'm not a Wal-Mart employee.)
Welcome to Albuquerque and New Mexico…Land of the Flea, Home of the Plague…
(A little lulz for you folks…New Mexico still suffers under invasions of Bubonic Plague…most of the deer mice are unionized…)
Welcome to MY FORMER city…notice how cranky union shop foremen get when someone shines a light on their day-laborer temp hires…they re-learn colloquial English and get belligerent quite fast…
I can't get upset at the Labor Systems temps; they're just trying to make a living…and I do recommend people who need labor employees try to hire them right off the "job site"…I'd flip a temp job for a permanent hire in a heartbeat…
Carpenters #1319…Union good enough for me, but you blow…get a temp job holding a sign…and hope we call back, otherwise you stay home and watch it on your teevee…
Help a Union Brother out….hire Lone Sun…
I watched a group of those "Shame On…" picketers in Denver. They stood out in the cold and wet for months before they finally got tired of it, or their Union check ran out. Unions are good for nothing except enriching their leaders and the politicians who support them.
Now that the Unions are controlling the White House and pulling Obumbles strings, seems to me
they're getting bolder and bolder!!
I can see the signs now…
"CARPENTERS UNFAIR-
PICKETERS UNION ON STRIKE!!
Local #1"
But if a picketers union struck, who'd carry the signs?__
I worked for many years at a job that required me to be a union member. I was laid off from said company 3 times with the last layoff being the complete outsourcing of our positions. The only thing the union has done for me is to steal money from my paycheck every month. I found better wages and benefits when I negotiated my skills on my own.
The time is truly passed for the unions. They are just as corrupt as the government and have become another entity to pick the workers pocket. There is so much visibility now that a company who attempted to go back to the "sweatshop" era would be drummed out of business.
as a guy who worked for 17 years as a union carpenter, i'll be the first one to tell you these guys are crooked as hell. they don't give two sh!ts about their members. i've seen more underhanded slimy BS to last me a lifetime. people need to realize a union is a PRIVATE enterprise just like any other FOR PROFIT business. it's not for the people by the people. oh, and lets not forget about the PAC fund money that gets taken out of your paycheck every week and goes directly into the DNC's pocket. thank god I left, my blood pressure can't take it.
There is a really great website dedicated to taking these guys down. http://carpenterwatch.com/. This is going on all over the south west. If you look on the close-up page, you can see how the union dues were spent.( $1.8 million on new automobiles)
"For my protection I have no comment", translated to mean, "I'll get my butt kicked by the union bosses if I tell you the truth".
But the bastids aren't bulletproof.
This makes me sick. I live in Albuquerque and see this crap all over town. I've even seen it in Santa Fe, some 50+ miles away. I will do anything in my power to stop this. I am so tired of these groups who think they deserve more than they have just because they think they're better than everyone else. Shame on all unions.
Looks to me that Organized Crime today has become UNIONS, and the Mob Boss is the heads of the Union! Question: Who does the Union represent today? Answer: A Marxist Government and not "We the people!" Obama even said so!
I have this awful feeling, of an impending civil war!!!
The Unions' main mob boss, is in the White House!!!
These "paid protesters" are nothing new. I have some outside of my workplace right now (well, during daylight hours, anyway) who wield the same "shame on XXX" banner and sit around sipping soft drinks under umbrellas while I work. I see these all the time around Phoenix. I'd never seen them before I moved here from Florida, so I thought it was a "Phoenix thing." Its really too bad I was wrong.
Pitchfork -> lets not forget about the PAC fund money that gets taken out of your paycheck every week and goes directly into the DNC's pocket"
I didn't know about the PAC money…it would effect my blood pressure as well.
This man is great. It brings attention ot union extortion and also that Dem whose running for the senate. Don't vote her in…
I work at a hotel in San Diego that has has these same guys picketing in front of it for a year. They only come out when there is a event and they can get publicity. I have spoken to the guys on the line and they are all day labor that was hired at less than minimum wage. The stupid thing is, the hotel never had any contract with them. They supposedly had an issue with the builder that built the hotel and are trying to shake down the hotel for cash to go away. We have ignored them. This Carpenters union is about as corrupt as it can get.

Unions! The same THUGGISH mentality that destroyed the auto industry. In today's legal environment, ALL workers have the right to appeal abuse or non-justified firing. Unions create an environment that pads the pockets of FAT CATS (right obummer and your good fiend (not a mispelling) andy scumbag stern). They drive up costs, create hostile workplaces, promote mediocrity and have LONG SINCE OUTLIVED THEIR USEFULLNESS! When you see the acorn, seiu, uaw, afl/cio and other union officials you see the real picture. Exploit the ignorant masses, keep us in our high paying union position by paying your dues, and we'll will make believe that we are actually protecting your job! Wake up AMERICA! We don't need these clowns anymore!
We all can agree that the unions have been corrupted by the AndySterns of the world.Better than attacking them I think it would be better if we produced evidence to the union members how their dues are being spent. I believe that the majority of union members are hard working Americans who have been terribly misled by the people they trusted to represent them.I think that if they knew the damage that the out of control union management was doing to our country and realized the end result of that direction would do the right thing and put a stop to them.Destroy the unions from within.I may be wrong but I may be right.
Will the last union member turn off the lights after they put the last factory out of business?…..probably not, it won't be in their contract! You can't cure stupid.
IT'S NOT JUST THE POLITICS THAT SUCK!
I was a union carpenter for 3 yrs. The quality of the work was embarrasing. Hanging doors and cabinets without levels, butt joining colonial base in closets, "caulk and walk". It doesn't matter how good you are, it's better if you are a good drinking buddy or you're friends with the boss.
NO UNION CARPENTER IS WORTH 88 GRAND! I would rather make less and be able to sleep at night or sign my name on the back of a cabinet I just installed. Never again. Unions suck!
p,s. I'm still working, references only.
I have worked for three different Unions in my lifetime in this order UFCW, IBEW and CWA not one of them protected me when I was done wrong by my supervisor.
I quit all three of them because they refused to use the money I paid them to do their job, they just took the money and said bye bye.
In the first case I was very young working at a grocery store and was injured on the job, under IBEW they actually went out of their way to deny my apprentice level pay increase and in the last case it was Cingular wireless so nothing needs to be said about that.
They are all money machines for the DNC and nothing more.
Hate the UNIONS!!!!!
If you want to shut up and go along to get along then maybe a union job is for you. Many guys feel indebted to the Unions for the first class training they recieve in the trades.
Unions really only care about the dues they collece, and like the democrats they have this contrived altruism, when in reality, all they want is your money. ANYONE THAT HAS TO PAY FOR A JOB, has really got to question wether or not they are free.
It is a shame that the carpenters union gives the other construction unions a bad name. Lets be real clear, the carpenters stand alone. Their membership has been abandoned by their leaders. The rank and file carpenter has lost his vote and has no voice. This kind of carpenter activity goes on all across the country and is not endorsed by the other trade unions. The carpenters are raiding the other unions work and attempting to obtain market monopolization. Mcarron and his small army of mindless drones care only about filling their pockets. All workers and employers, union and non union, are negatively affected by the carpenters union. If the rank and file carpenter membership wants to improve their working conditions then they need to start with their leadership. Please MR. and MRS. Carpenter, start thinking for yourselves, you can do it.
I see a great improvement in your writing, I’d love to get in touch. Keep up the great work! Your writing is very inspirational for someone who is new to this type of stuff.
all you union haters keep on buying your made in japan crap and keep wonderin why you dont
have jobs!
