The Wall Street Journal is reporting:
The AFL-CIO plans to roll out its biggest political campaign ever, surpassing the $53 million spent in 2008 to help elect President Barack Obama, to try to avert a repeat of the 1994 midterm election when Democrats lost a majority in Congress.
If that sounds a bit aggressive, that’s nothing compared to the powerful head of the AFSCME public employee union, who is saying “The time has come to draw a line in the sand…Regardless of your party affiliation, if you’re not with us, you are against us.”
(We’re pretty sure we’ve seen other people get hammered for using the same language, but we digress…)
It’s certainly interesting that unions are doubling down on their failed bet. But anything can happen when you wish upon a star…

When I read stories like this and see some of the treasonous things that unions and some politicians do… I become afraid that the only way to fix the government is to, as Jefferson said "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
I truly hope not, but it sometimes makes me think I need to get back on the range for some practice.
Well Obama doesn't consider unions as special interest. He considers them to be the primary interest, even above the interest's of the American people…!
All of their commercials have to say who sponsored them! Should be fun in Nov. Each state needs to enact term limits on their State & Federal representatives, 2 terms and out form dog catcher to Govenor.
End the term "career politician" it should be "The peoples representative". You go and represent and then you go home. NO Government retirement for elected officials.

Wow, so when the Supremes allowed corporations to have a say in elections, the left hit the roof because all our elections would be bought and sold by big business, but stuff like this is hunky dory with them. How is this not a huge disinterested entity exploiting its collective buying power of the single voice of the American voter? In other words, they're the same thing. The only difference is that Unions have been exploiting their collective power at election time for far longer than big business.
If Unions can do it, corporations should be allowed to also.
We need to get the message out to "big business" corporations that if they spend their money in defense of our individual liberty, that we will spend our money in support of their products.
The days of the "special interests" are coming to an end.
They are smart to do so. The next Republican controlled government should outlaw national unions, forbid them from crossing State lines.

The union agenda runs counter to the values I hold and what I believe are the best interests of my country. The tactics they employ in support of their agenda are coercive and illegitimate. Therefore, I avoid purchasing union-made products and vote against the interests of public-employee unions at every opportunity lest I help fund union activities. I agree with what your saying, but how do you do that without encroaching on union members rights? I don't see an amendment in the constitution regarding peoples right to organize a union but how would you go about disolving unions without being/looking like a tyrant? I'm not defending unions,personally I think they have outlived their usefullness and need, I am just truely interested in how it could be done.

I'm sure these unions surveyed their members and got their approval to spend this money, so I don't see what the big deal is. Everybody knows unions only have the best interests on their members in their heart at all times. I experienced their love the 2 times I had to join a union on summer jobs in college. Both times their dues, fees, "membership log in fee", and such ate up about 50% of what I was paid. When I complained, they went to my boss and threatened a work slow down. I was encouraged to "expand my work experience elsewhere."
That may be the one thing that saves our butts in 2012…

Keep people's right to participate in a union if they wish… But allow people to NOT participate. Allow people to represent themselves if they wish. Gradually people will leave the unions. A lot of people have had the union forced upon them. Here in Va people don't have to pay dues and be in the union, but are FORCED to be represented by the union once it's in place.
The sad part is, some states are forcing unionization on individuals… such as home health care workers…
The unions are already on the downward slide. Most of their pension plans are drained (because they mis-utilize the funds). That's why they're banking on NObama to save them. NObama, being a community organizer, is using his organizing skills to help his union community.

I work in as an RN in an Open Heart Recovery unit. During my last performance eval. my manager asked me to take a position as a " Cinical Coordinator" (charge nurse) When I told him that I wasn't even sure I was going to stay in the profession if this new health care bill was passed his eyes got the size of pie plates!
" Why!" he asked.
I told him that if the bill passed that all hospitals would be totally Unionized within 3 years.
" What makes you say that!?"
I then went on to explain that SEIU was one of the major players in writing the Bill and how I am sure they are licking their chops to add hundreds of thousands of health care professionals to their rolls.
His response?
"Huh."
We have no choice but to bust those unions. There are enough of us to do it. Remember, there are more of us than there are of them. We have to aggressively go after these parasites now!

There are 90 million gun owners in the U.S. The vast majority are not leftists. Aside from consideration of the military, we hugely outnumber them. If it comes to a confrontation, most military and ex-military will oppose the leftists. I don't want to see it go that far of course… to say that would be dangerous is a huge understatement, but unless the people are even more corrupted than I think, there will be a point that they will resist if the leftists go too far in this attempt to transform the nation. That's why the left is so anxious to get rid of private gun ownership.

Union membership is dwindling, (but for every real American that drops from the rolls the danger is that they try to get 2 illegals to take their place). And don't think for a minute they're using their own money to rig the elections. Barak bin Hussein Obama and his minions are making sure that the union coffers stay full with OUR money. Also don't forget when Andy Stern isn't busy humping his sister or on his knees servicing Van Jones, he's recruiting on an international basis.

Was a member of AFSCME for more than 20 years (no other option allowed as WA State DSHS employee), and I can attest to the fact that Gerald McIntee is a purple-jowled bully-boy who runs AFSME like his personal fiefdom. I suppoesedly had the option to get back a portion of my dues spent for policies whic h I disageed with, as long as I followed this SIMPLE procedure:
1.Specify which particular policy I opposed. (I couldn't say I opposed them all, which I did). Had to write a separate letter for each policy.
2. Send a CERTIFIED letter to AFSCME national between April 1st to April 16th.
3. Wait 6 weeks before recieving a check for odd amounts such as $7.73, without any explanation about how that amount was calculated. Since it cost $3 to send the certified letter; this discouraged more members fom taking the time and effort to flie the protest.
1. Right to work — no closed shops.
2. No industry-wide unions, no national unions — no collective bargaining unit can be larger than a single employer in a single metropolitan area, for example. Any collusion between collective bargaining units is a cartel, to be broken up with the colluders facing criminal charges.
(This has the added advantage that you could see unions competing to see who could offer employers the best deal.)
3. Vigorous prosecution of union-related violence, placing union members back in the same legal plane as the rest of us.
It doesn't take tyrannical measures, just treating unions like any other business.

I am and always have been against unions. Unions are NOTHING more than leverage used to shake down protection money from legit businesses. They have ALWAYS been run by organized crime and always will be. They have usefull idiots run work place safety programs/lobby's as a cover for strong arming ever increasing and undeserved hourly pay rates which in turn increases their annual member dues… which is then funneled to political campaigns. Collective bargaining should be illegal.

The ignorance of some people never ceases to amaze me. You all must want to revert back to pre-industrial revolution times. People would not have their vacation time, or weekends or any other workers rights without the efforts and deaths of union members. The most prosperous times of our country were when everything was predominantly unionized. But, then again there are always those who believe that they should have an unfair advantage,believing that they should not have to pay employees a livable wage. It is these people with the help of crooked politicians who have religionized all their anti-union rhetoric. If unions are so bad then why is the typical CEO of a corporation making 1000 times what their average workers make, when during our country'a most prosperous times they only averaged 40 times what their workers made. An why has the illegal alien population in our country increased ten fold? If they can get someone to do the work for virtually nothing they can increase profit and give themselves bigger bonuses. So think about this, why is big business so anti-union? Well it's not because they care about the people who make them their inflated salaries and bonuses.
The anger here is palpable. These issues are scary, and at the same time I'm glad that people are getting angry. Because now, maybe we can begin the long process of running these idiots out of town for good. Radical democrats have been ruining this country for decades, and it's going to take some time to fix. We have a road map people. We know how to right the ship. We just need to find the backbone.

If employers treated their employees well, there wouldn't be a need for unions. These people can't seem to grasp the obvious. They try to make unions into some horrible evil thing, when unions are nothing more than the employees themselves collectively bargaining with their employers.

The union my grandfathers and great uncles were organized in has morphed into a new animal. My father used to watch the police fight strikers before the war. Now having worked in both union and non union plants I can say this. The union protects the late, lazy and unproductive far more aggressively than those who simply do their job. Then turns around to spend workers dues on causes most of them do not support. It is true that we would be in bad shape without the early efforts of unions. It is equally true that what they are now are parasites.
The combative tone has long been set – problem for them is their foolish oversight that WE THE PEOPLE are more than ready to be equally combative – they have left us with no alternative other than to fight fire with fire.

Lets start calling unions what they really are, they are big corporations just like any other corporation (BIG BUSINESS), the difference is that the bossess do not have to disclose what they make, making it harder to be demonized like this administration has done to others.
UNIONS are BIG CORPORATIONS using union dues (which should be put into retirement accounts for the members) but intead they are being used for the bossess or (CEO's) bottom line, UNIONS ARE CORPORATIONS, they should be be demonized along with the others this administration is demonizing. In Nancy Pelosi's own words "Are you serious? Really? Are you serious?" – they may not realize it but they are way outnumbered as far as voters go. And like I keep saying – unions are kinda like motor oil, the longer you run it, the more sludge that builds up. Seniority does that with unions, you kinda build up sludge in your work force. The folks who are higher in seniority know they are protected, so why not ride the gravy train – especially if it's a government job.
