ACORN’s Unseen Victims, Its Own Workers
by Bret JacobsonYou’d think for $53 million in federal funds — not to mention hundreds of millions of dollars from left-wing foundations — over the years, ACORN would be able to pay its own employees well. It turns out that while their employees have been caught treating taxpayer funds like trash, their own bosses have the same opinion of them.
The Washington Post, in a post mid-mortem of ACORN, took a moment to look at the group’s record as an employer and highlighted the group’s 2003 incident of busting a union drive by its own employees:
According to an NLRB case accusing ACORN of unfair labor practices, “field organizers were expected to work long hours each week — 54 hours — and were paid at a salary of $16,000 annually until January 2001, when the salary was raised to $18,000.”
The NLRB documented a high turnover rate for ACORN employees: In 2000, far less than 10 percent of Dallas office employees stayed in the job for six months, and “most did not even complete their training period, but quit within a few days or weeks of being hired,” according to the NLRB.
During the Clinton administration, the Labor Department accused ACORN arm Citizens Consulting Inc. of failing to pay workers overtime.
But wait, there’s more! There was ACORN suing to exempt itself from the minimum wage in California and repeated stories of it failing to pay its employees on time (see example):
It’s most ironic that ACORN has spent decades creating unions and telling everyone else how much to pay in “living wages” only to act as some sort of caricature of a bad boss from a 1920’s sweatshop.
Somebody, unionize ACORN! They deserve the union they get.

Well just another example of liberal racism/classism. No wonder they project these motives onto everybody else. The ones that have an education and income truly believe they are superior to the masses and that the masses should be thankful for every crust from the elite’s hands, and god forbid the masses should have opportunity and responsibility to provide for themselves, how would the elites stroke their ego’s without a class of people dependent on them for the handouts they sieze from the taxpaying public to give to the ‘dis-advantaged’.

Is anyone surprised? There's not much bad done by these folks that fits into the "surprising" category, anymore. I think that once the whole child-prostitution advocacy story broke, everything changed forever. Now most thinking people recognize ACORN as evil to and through its core. They've been done in my the sheer weight of their deeds.

Bertha Lewis never answered the question of opening the books. What are they hiding? If the money isn't going to the people they employ, who is getting it?

Its a sad state of affairs when our government allows all of this to happen. The President in an interview I saw acted like it was a small thing not worthy of him giving it any attention. We all know why he's in bed with these people. Anytime the American taxpayer is taken advantage of to carry out criminal activity IT IS A BIG DEAL. This is only gonna get bigger we need to move fast I'm sure acorns paper shredders are working overtime as we speak.
So it isn't just the clients Acorn uses as pawns in their Alinskyesque attempt to impose socialism on the US by overwhelming the welfare system. Another apt metaphor applies as well: Poor people — again, including clients and employees — are used as manure to fertilize Acorn's "seeds of destruction."

Liberals always complain about the dirty Republican capitalistic companies (Walmart – anyone that “documentary”), yet these people are overworking their employees, underpaying them, and refusing to pay the minimum wage.
Look, it irritated me when people were like “Well, their offices don’t look nice, where’s the money going?”
(um…do we want them to have lavish facilities?) I’m glad their salaries aren’t ridiculous (though their CEO probably makes a pretty penny), but pay the minimum wage. Don’t take advantage of your employees.
Liberals represent the worst of the worst: take, take, take, greedy, greedy, greedy then point out the greed of others. Will the MSM report on this? They call out Walmart.
Obviously, the money is going somewhere and I don’t trust that ACORN sent the money to the less fortunate. Hopefully through some lawsuit we get to see the funds (though do you really think their financial statements are going to be accurate?).

I just watched Berth's interview with Wallace and I can tell you she sure avoided answering the questions. She must have attended those "seminars" Obama gave to ACORN in the 90's.

ACORNS Unseen Victims? The AMERICAN TAXPAYERS!
I'm so sick of everyone calling it child prostitution. Acorn wasn't helping them set up a child prostitution racket….it was child sex slavery.
We, the citizens of the United States of America, aware of our civil rights and in an effort to stop funding to corrupt organizations, hereby express our disapproval of the US Governments lack of attention to the corruption within.
We are aware of the corruption within Acorn, who has received more then 25 million of our tax dollars. We feel corruption exist in many offices and branches of the US Government. We have made repeated attempts to express our concerns, these attempts have been well documented. We feel our immediate and long term future is in jeopardy if this issue is not addressed immediately.
On the basis of the above, we respectfully call on Congress to pass legislation that mandates the immediate investigation of all offices and branches of the US Government. "Corruption Elimination Act" We also request that any party suspected of corrupt activities be immediately suspended of their duties until a thorough investigation is done.
If immediate action is not taken, we will be forced to pursue our legal rights and potentially take part in a Class Action lawsuit against the US Government. We hope our Voices will be heard, and this matter can be resolved in a timely manner.

hey…..going for labor rates in California below minimum wage and 54 hours a week??/ The NLRB must have laughed in amusement…..maybe ACPRN should run the US post office…..then we could atleast come in under budget and not be faced with an 8 billion dollar overspend…..with postal service employees sleeping in their break rooms……I mean, hey….come on….we could save a lot of taxpayer money at these wages.
Oh, I forgot…..the majority of their revenue from donations and grants from FED are skimmed off the top and pocketed by the brass for personal gain and political payoffs…..whew, now I feel much better. Don Corleone could learn a few things from this crew.
While I know there is err or was a very small percentage of good honest people in acorn thinking they were actually helping poor people,but some of them are just to uneducated to see they were do nothing more than the bidding of even more sinister rich people above them that were behind closed doors.I also believe many of them did not know details,but did know there was illegal activities.The main reason I think they chose not to do anything would be because they think the system owes them,so cheating is ok.What gets me is the lack of morals for kids though.This really makes me sick to my stomach.
