The Nutty and Dangerous Ideology Behind the #Occupy Movement
by Brett HealyDespite the support from mainstream political and pop culture figures, the ‘Occupy’ movement is quite nutty and, actually, quite dangerous.
Free love. No private property. Self identifying one’s gender. More socialist than Marx.
The ideological and philosophical underpinnings of the “Occupy” movement are quite bizarre. Before either embracing the movement or blowing it off as typical left wing lunacy, it’s important to understand where these people are coming from and the kind of society for which they are clamoring.
Check out the following video to learn more about ”Collective Liberty” and other foundations of the Occupy Movement:

Don't these people realize that people who have got to have power will ruin their little utopia.
I delight in pointing out to the OWS'ers that their historical counterparts from the 60's are now the elitist lions of power that have brought us to this point, so why should I listen to OWS now, any more than I would to the acid-tripping idiots of that time?
And where the Hell is Cowboy Logic? Isn't the first comment his by birthright or something?
)
EXACTLY… and why are they protesting then, anyway?
I see them training with Bill Ayers in Chicago, while HIS BOY is in power now! Huh?
Are they demanding all prior Republicans' retroactive resignations from the grave, or …?
Reaganite Republican
Wow… you know what the second video sort of sounds like? A small Federal Government with less power and local governments making the decisions for what is best for those that live in that state/city based on what the people want in those areas who then elect a representative in those local governments to carry out there wishes…. Weird.. just like the Founders wanted…. Hmmm. The first video could be used in place of any George Orwell adaptation of 1984.
OWS … should ask for their money back from whatever educational institution they went to. Wait… they didn't actually pay for it… the went into debt… Idiots.
These people know not the scorpion they've embraced, and the sting he'll bring and the refusal to leave. This really means a Socialist Mobracy, breakdown of Morality and Religious Order.
A NWO- they'll be Sorry it's Always about The POWER!
By the way they never stop speaking I get it!
OWS is wonderful stuff. You can tell someone about the harebrained ideology of ‘60s radicals until you're blue in the face, but OWS allows for a living breathing example. This will allow free America to make a clear choice, do you want to masturbate in the local park, or do we want to get busy as Americans and reclaim our lives from Team Parasite. So as we approach the correction of 2012, by fixing the mistake of ’08. I say beat your drums, smoke your weed, publically pleasure yourself (whatever that entails), vandalize and truly isolate liberals into the real 18% they represent. With a clear distinction, will come a clear result.
Interesting that the video you've unearthed to mischaracterize OWS was authored by "TheLeftLibertarian," and represents the utopian fringe of the right as well as the left.
Look at the Jean Quan video.
Surely Jean Quan must be aquainted with how the doctors, teachers, scientists, and other civilized human beings in Russia begged the slobbering rabid Marxists for cooperation. The doctors, teachers, scientists and other civilized human beings got sent to die in a cold Siberian jail cell, or just got shot in the head. (Like China and their slobbering rabid Marxist takeover)
George Soros's comrades are the same slobbering Marxists who know that it is only the cops and the military between us and them.
The ideas expressed in the second video, to a minor degree, do resonate with me. But "resonating" is a reaction, not a form of reflection. The rapid-fire presentation merely diguises a menagerie of disjointed and in many cases, contradictory world views. It's that television advertisement quality that I find most disturbing about a video like this: opinions and preferences are stimulated and formed, but that's where it ends. There is no sense that the construction of this world view (or proposed social reform) has wrestled with the timeless truths of human social existance.
Typical of our current culture, the views in this video cannot survive the first moment of serious reflection, because they don't treat the great themes of political and economic theory with any seriousness. Does the author of this piece supposed that the issues he raises and the solutions he offers are novel; that they are not dealt with in books as ancient as Plato's The Republic or as modern as Hayeks The Consitution of Liberty? Would a viewer with even a moderately sophisticated understanding of history, politics and/or economics not simply chuckle at the puerile wish-thinking offered as serious social commentary ("work would be a choice"?)
If we are to respect anyone's proposal for change, we must first expect a modesty that gives us the sense that hubris is not at work. That we are not stepping away from the trials of experience thoughtlessly. It is this grain of truth that Conservatism gets right in my opinion.
No one must misunderstand the fact that the Occupychiks are filled with irrational HATE. These are people who were taught to steal and do nothing but blame others when they can't steal enough.
Elena Kagan (Supreme Court apparatchik) is ONE OF THEM.
She is working diligently to take away free speech and other human rights so these Marxists can simply eliminate all honest, civilized people. They want anyone with a brain to die so that the Marxists can seize assets and power.
This is really a life or death struggle, and most Americans don't know how dangerous these Marxists are. They don't know how much these Marxists (particularly the ones hiding behind the curtain while they send out the clowns) despise most of America and want people dead and out of the way, or under the yoke of Marxist slavery.
I'd suggest that the creator of that Direct Democracy video read Lee Harris' "Civilization and its Enemies" and Freud's "Civilization and Its Discontents". That might give him some insight into why his utopia won't work because it's contrary to human nature.
"Tedious jobs would be automated to reduce unnecessary tasks, so that work becomes a choice."
Work becomes a choice, eh?
Sounds pretty much like the left as we know them already.
Participatory democracy (2nd vid) with groups of 250 or fewer determining a course of action — hmmmmm. So what happens when self-described liberals (approximately 21% of the population) are in the minority in these groups and are outvoted? A representative Republic protects the minority view, a participatory democracy would not.
Our military training manuals used to contain the correct definitions of Democracy and Republic. The following comes from Training Manual No. 2000-25 published by the War Department, November 30, 1928.
DEMOCRACY:
A government of the masses.
Authority derived through mass meeting or any other form of "direct" expression.
Results in mobocracy.
Attitude toward property is communistic–negating property rights.
Attitude toward law is that the will of the majority shall regulate, whether is be based upon deliberation or governed by passion, prejudice, and impulse, without restraint or regard to consequences.
Results in demogogism, license, agitation, discontent, anarchy.
REPUBLIC:
Authority is derived through the election by the people of public officials best fitted to represent them.
Attitude toward law is the administration of justice in accord with fixed principles and established evidence, with a strict regard to consequences.
A greater number of citizens and extent of territory may be brought within its compass.
Avoids the dangerous extreme of either tyranny or mobocracy.
Results in statesmanship, liberty, reason, justice, contentment, and progress.
Is the "standard form" of government throughout the world.
The manuals containing these definitions were ordered destroyed without explanation about the same time that President Franklin D. Roosevelt made private ownership of our lawful money (US Minted Gold Coins) illegal. Shortly after the people turned in their $20 gold coins, the price was increased from $20 per ounce to $35 per ounce. Almost overnight F.D.R., the most popular president this century (elected 4 times) looted almost half of this nation's wealth, while convincing the people that it was for their own good. Many of F.D.R.'s policies were suggested by his right hand man, Harry Hopkins, who said,
"Tax and Tax, Spend and Spend, Elect and Elect, because the people are too damn dumb to know the difference".
"Collective Liberty"
is that like " war is peace" ?
There is a revolution coming and these vermin are the losers. They just don't know it yet.
The Bolshie "Revolution" in Russia was mythologized as a "people's revolution" and still is by American and European Marxists who intentionally lie and cover up the real goings on for their own uses.
Much like the Jacob Schiffs of that era, we have pseudo American "capitalists" like George Soros and the Google Dictator who used the American capitalist system to make lots of money, but now use it to deny others their freedoms and abilities to make money, have rights, and challenge the rich Marxists and their comrades.
Quoting an examination of the Russian Bolshie bloodbath, people like Soros etc., want"to see the old regime fall into the hands of revolutionaries, who would agree to grant lucrative business concessions in the future in return for financial support today."
This is all about money and power. Do not be fooled by the circus.
sorry one thumb up wasn't sufficient.
Well articulated!
Oops — forgot the link — only the first paragraph was mine: http://www.c4cg.org/republic.htm
The ideologues are convinced they're right, facts be damned. It's okay, this snowy October surprise just might have exposed some of Obama’s true believers … http://www.ombudizen.com/2011/10/30/heads-i-win-t...
The 2nd video shows why History needs to be remembered and not forgotten!! So now we need to go back to Communes as if that hasn't been tried yet, the commentator states towards the end that they don't know if this will work or not..
Well In the late 1960s more than 2,000 communes were formed in the United States, where are they now?? It doesn't take much searching to find out why they ALL failed, if I had to boil it down to one main theme as to why they failed it would be individualism!! Yep the hippies felt that their voices or ideas were not being heard so they left and as more and more left the commune society couldn't sustain itself.. Look around do you see any of these grand utopias left in America ??
"Tedious jobs would be automated to reduce unnecessary tasks, so that work becomes a choice"
Then why are the unions opposing technology at every step?
Can anyone see the smokescreens to fool the naive? They promise to take away tedious jobs, that IN REALITY will be replaced by MORE tedious jobs as the bulk of the populace becomes Marxist slaves, with no hope of improving their lot, oppressed by a Marxist bureacracy that rules with the iron fist..
The more intelligent (if they live at all) will be cleaning Soros' (and sons, and their comrades) castle toilets for life, as will their children.
Vive la revolucion! Liberty, equality, fraternity – or death!
….in other places they call this mob rule……
Sorry, I'll take the Rule of Law instead.
The really big machines and equipment for their model cities are not a result of evolution, so much as their intellectual subscription to group thinking fallacies. Lucky for them, Halliburton and Caterpillar have the ability to organize capital to make large scale endeavors possible for narrow minded, small scale thinkers!
Mob Rule (direct democracy) is not the way you want to go. Since you are into videos, try one more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXTiMLSYXF0
WE DONT WANT, we dont want, A WORLD WITH CONSEQUENCES, a world with consequenses, WE DONT WANT WANT, we dont want , MORALS AND VALUES, morals and values, WHAT DO WE WANT? what do we want? INSTANT GRATIFICATION, instant gratification, WHEN DO WE WANT IT? when do we want it ? YESTERDAY.
Despite the support from mainstream political and pop culture figures, the ‘Occupy’ movement is quite nutty and, actually, quite dangerous.
So exactly, what is the difference between the "Occupy" movement and the mainstream (democrats) political and pop culture figures?
Personally, when I look at OWS, I think the entire human race is being stalked by idiots.
So if I don't want to be involved thats fine huh?
and if the Collective decides that my property is not something I really need but would best serve the collective I can do what?
Find enough like minded people who have had their property confiscated and create our own collective to counter their collective?
Fools…That video is the result of the public education system. Karl Marks had his philosophy too
Any utopia that does not agree with their own they dismiss completely out of hand
Not to worry though they are all Kafirs. Sharia law will show them their utopia
Love this video. I use it as an introduction to Government in my high school government class.
Thanks for teaching our kids "right"
Sorry Stan522, my sarcasm didn't translate well. In the second video, the speaker was talking about these "Assemblies" that group together based on interests and that they elect a "Delegate" to represent them and that there was no real power in the larger "Assembly". That to me is what the founding fathers wanted, they are called "States". The federal government was supposed to be limited. That was what I was meaning.
What OWS wants it's cake and to eat it too. They want full individual freedom, but without responsibility, they want the government to provide everything for them. Unfortunately what they will get is pretty much just enough to keep them alive so they can work at whatever job is forced upon them by that government. Their "Individual Freedom" will be made to give way for "The Greater Good".
Your video link was excellent in describing the various forms of government. Thanks for that one.
aahhhhhh, got it!
These people are looking for heaven on earth…… I'm sorry, they will just have to wait for heaven when it comes to them.
I try!
Thoughtfully articulated, Art. You're right. The OWS, in my opinion, is simply a means to an end. Doesn't really matter what their complaints are, whether or not any of the OWS protesters can clearly articulate a coherent set of principles by which they stand. After all, they've got a movement on their hands. Details will be filled in later. For now, smash and burn.
Utopia at last, groups of 250 change the name.
As it has been called in the past:
Communism is a socioeconomic structure that promotes the establishment of a classless, stateless society based on common ownership of the means of production. It is usually considered a branch of the broader socialist movement that draws on the various political and intellectual movements that trace their origins back to the work of theorists of the Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution. Communism attempts to offer an alternative to the problems believed to be inherent with capitalist economies and the legacy of imperialism and nationalism. Communism states that the only way to solve these problems would be for the working class, or proletariat, to replace the wealthy bourgeoisie, which is currently the ruling class, in order to establish a peaceful, free society, without classes, or government. The dominant forms of communism, such as Leninism, Trotskyism and Luxemburgism, are based on Marxism, but non-Marxist versions of communism (such as Christian communism and anarchist communism) also exist and are growing in importance since the fall of the Soviet Union
He's probably doing target practice on some varmints. Or maybe he went to an OWS to talk some sense into the brats. Same thing.
Where do they get these ideas?
I love the quote about 7:30 into the video where he says, “Tedious jobs would be automated to reduce unnecessary tasks so that work becomes a choice. In this environment we would be free to spend our time pursuing things we love, such as art, sports, socializing with friends and family, playing music, traveling, learning or just daydreaming.”
He actually gets to the heart of the matter. Does anyone have to work? Surely some must, but who decides which people will be blessed to just play music all day? I think they are certain people will decide for themselves and it'll just work out somehow.
As the OWS are showing the world, chaos and filthiness reign when people simply do whatever they feel like doing.
As for the incentive to work in our society, the motive is called a paycheck. It's not hard to understand at all.
OK, I've extinguished my flaming retort. Please use the sarc tag
Participatory democracy in action
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmF_yXQkVh0
The extreme right IS the extreme left. Good of you to notice.
Yeah, "collective liberty" works just as well as "collective property." Just ask any of the thousands of Soviet or Cambodian or Chinese or Cuban expats now living in the US.
Liberty belongs to the individual human being. It cannot be redistributed nor shared nor divided. However, it can be eliminated, and that's what OWS is trying to do.
Well, maybe not "stalked," but certainly EDUCATED by idiots.
Apologies.. even though I have been using the Internet ever since <sarc> Al Gore invented it </sarc>, I still sometimes forget that the thoughts in my head, while saying them out loud sound witty, <sarc>I soon realize that I should have taken that creative writing class in college instead of joining the Air Force and serving my country. </sarc> Truth be told, I appreciate what I learned while serving my country more than the A I got on that English Lit paper.
Now I just need to figure out how to get out of the red negative rep… It makes me look like a commie…
These creatures are truly mindless! They sit chanting and repeating what whoever is in front of them is saying and cannot see they are acting as mindless automatons being brainwashed and told what to think. The second video then shows all the advances society has made through the efforts of individuals to create wealth and success for themselves, which benefited all, and then proceeds to tell you how you should conform to what the "herd" tells you to do. I for one hope they go quickly to the insurrection phase so we can quickly cut this mindless cancer out of the body of society.
the difference in the tea party and the occupiers. . . which event would you wear the oppositions ID on a t-shirt or banner and walk thru??? that alone tells immensely of the type of people they are.
As the old saying goes: A camel is a horse designed by committee.
That gives us a good idea of the profound dysfunction of any 'collective' governance. Little gets accomplished, and what is ultimately produced is chaos and intercine struggles leading to combative factions. From that mess a dictator inevitably rises, ostensibly to unify the collective / mobs who declares – 'We will have a perfectly egalitarian society…in which I will rule'. Coercion is the only way to achieve Utopia, but if they call it 'progressive' and/or 'liberal', it's enough to soothe their massive egos and fool themselves a little longer.
These kids don't know whereof they protest…But some of us old enough DO remember the original Hippie movement with all the sex, drugs, and rocknroll. By the summer of love I had 3 kids, missed the women's lib bra burners, and had more important things to do back then. But remember the Chicago Seven and the Riots at the Democrat convention…old mayor Dailey sicced the cops on the rioters and it was truly BEDLAM! And Nixon beat the crap out of them in the election…The Silent MAJORITY prevailed. Then of course they hounded him out of office, had VP Gerald Ford who then lost to Jimmah CARTER! THIS time WE will know better… unlike the OWS who don't know nuttin!
The intro to the video is hilarious. It lists off all those human accomplishments achieved by our ancestors but fails to recognize that they were carried out under command-and-control governments. The producers shot themselves in the foot and don't even realize it.
Great works are accomplished by leadership, not by people who simply want to hang out with friends and play drums.
How did you get it?
Are you saying Spooky Dude is a slobbering rabid Marxist?
Participatory Democracy is EXACTLY what our Representative Repulic was until it was bastardized by the unchecked rule of leftist filth.
My comment on the last post by Andre Harper over at Big Journalism.
http://bigjournalism.com/aharper/2011/10/27/a-rac...
I was trying to ask for input on how to argue with a liberal that the Republican and Democrat parties did NOT switch places. Which is what a liberal will say when you try to inform them that it was in fact the Democrat Party that was the party of Jim Crow and the KKK and that the Republican Party was the party of Civil Rights.. Again I fell victim to my poor writing skills. Some commenters I guess thought I was trying to reinforce the false notion that the parties switched. I think after the first neg rep was tacked on people just assumed I was trying to cause trouble…. I support Herman Cain… not because he is Black, but because he is not a politician and is a successful business man.
That dickhead is trying to run for office.
It takes one to know one
Just like Jonestown. Pass the Kool-Aid.
The second video starts by paying homage to human achievement, then describes how to end all that. Funny stuff. We get a long thought stream of wishful thinking, with annoying new-age music backdrop. Work will be optional comrades! No one will give or take orders. Everyone is a prescious snowflake. (Uh-huh. Maybe all the wonderfulness can start after the rioting in the streets, dragging the wealthy from their towers, confiscations, hangings and so forth.).
In reality, their vision produces squalid little cesspools of crime and filth, where collective participants debate with each other about drum circles and chanting rights. Utopia, right.
Pass.
History is replete with society-altering eras ushered in as the result of revolution and conflict brought about by misery and/or discontent. Which will it be in this case, I wonder, a societal shift to indivdualistic autonomy tempered by a commonality of human need or a greater dependence on the milk of human kindness, i. e. a benevolent dictatorship?
Last time I checked, we are legally bound to follow our constitution to make changes.
If these clowns want all these demands…..fine. But a small number of stinky, stringy haired ideologues "occupying" and demanding something is not defined as the means for constitutional change.
These people are bullies, selfish, distain majority rule and hate the rule of law. They are demanding that the country be ruled by a chosen few.
They embody every single thing they claim to be agianst. Go figure, they are a bunch of hypocrits.
ahhh…. the republican party IS the Civil Rights party. If it weren't for republicans, the democrats would not have passed anything. The devilcRAT's co-opted this movement starting back in the Civil War and President Lincoln.
The first video looks more like Zombie Nation than Participatory Democracy.
Chanting mindless BS. You know a parrot can mimic whats it hears to. Doesn't mean it understands what it's saying
Speaking of Dickheads.
Yes but when you try to "Inform" someone who continues to believe that Republicans/Conservatives are all racist you get someone like Dr. Mark Lamont Hill that comes back with some slick story of how when the Dixiecrats lost power in the south they all joined the Republican Party as a way to maintain their power base which then "miraculously" turned the whole Republican Party into a bunch of rich rabid racists bent on lynching every black man they see…. Facts and History just don't seem to matter to that kind of thinking I guess.
We have an opportunity as in ’68 and ’72 (Nixon RINO), a more preferred example is ’80 and ‘84 (Reagan Conservative). We have the left exposed and out on a limb, now we just need to saw it off allowing them and their dumba$$ ideology to fall into the abyss, once and for all. We mustn’t fall back into a conservative apathy allowing Team Parasite (democrats) to regain a foothold, free America must stay involved for several election cycles.
It actually romaticizes human achievement by completely ignoring the massive amounts of blood, sweat and tears that went into building the wonders of the old world.
There is too much analysis of the ideas in the pamphlet. There is every reason to believe that these ideas are not sincere but are only tools to advance the agenda of persons with different ideas altogether.
Barrack Obama trained, by his own admission, as a person who could and would start riots and demonstrations. That's what a community organizer does. So in the last couple months the Obama administration suffered increasingly from lost political support, and his speeches alone seemed to grow ineffective. He and his supporters seemed to have switched tactics. Obama ceased to try to argue rationally and he launched a coordinated series of paid riots across the country.
Whoever wrote that pamphlet may or may not have believed its message. But it hardly matters. The purpose of the pamphlet is to incite social disruption. Some young people will think about it others will not but all will be moved toward a mob response. We should worry about who promotes and pays for such pamphlets rather than deal with the ideas that are presented.
Community organizers are not philosopher kings. They do not present ideas so as to increase understanding. They want to stir the pot. They want people in the streets chanting. Who but a fool chants slogans?
Newton Minnow called TV a vast wasteland. TV is commonly termed the "boob tube". Yet even on the most biased TV news channel (probably MSNBC) they make arguments. They present ideas for discussion. You have to go into the streets to experience real boobery. It's not so much that these kids are stupid as they want to act stupidly.
Chanting and being stupid is very pleasant. After a long day I make myself a Martini and my IQ drops like a rock. I don't want to grapple with the issues and problems with which I struggled during the day. I become happier as my ability to reason wanes. So it is with demonstrators. Chanting political slogans is comforting. I certainly enjoyed it when I was young. Studying for finals is lonely and difficult. It's liberating to abandon discipline and go out on the lawn and submerge yourself in a mass movement.
But everyone learns that you don't argue with a fool. You certainly don't want to listen to a drunk. The media keeps interviewing these protestors in search of their ideas. LOL.
"Collective Liberty" only works when everyone on the planet gets a 'Libotomy'. Those who resist must be eliminated. Enter Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Ho, Che, Ayers, et.al.
That's the main idea isn't it. Everyone can have lots of great stuff for free, and no one gives orders. But first they need to topple our existing system, and do something about any malcontents standing between them and this imaginary utopia.
http://dailycaller.com/2011/10/28/traders-talk-ba...
You could be right about the stalking. The piece in the Daily Caller might cheer you up.
Fortunately, it doesn't require much mental effort to dismiss these ideas.
It's another historical pattern. Some power seeker(s) intoxicate frustrated masses with dreams of Utopia. If the end is utopia, then no act that removes "barriers" to utopia can be considered wrong. That's when the violence and killings start, and of course the utopia never materializes, only misery, poverty and failure.
Nothing new under the sun.
Keep trying. The movement is as diverse and multi-generational as we have seen in a long time, and its high approval by most Americans show as much. The more folks like you dig up fringe material and claim it speaks for everyone, the more obvious it becomes that the movement is going strong. Remember it has been slightly over a month… if the Tea Party had anything slightly as good going in that amount of time you'd have been creaming your shorts:
http://rehistoric.wordpress.com/2011/10/21/fear-o...
Oh, they'll argue that until they're blue in the face. It won't matter what you say; it won't even matter if you point out all the Democrat/KKK/racist connections like Robert Byrd being a Grand Dragon who got to be lionized as the "conscience" of the Senate.
Leftists wouldn't have any standards if they didn't have double standards.
Design by committee has never worked, and never will. It is human nature that someone will emerge as a leader of the tribe of 250, even if only in a stealth manner, who in turn is likely being manipulated by another power broker up the food chain.
AND… while individuals are running off to some ashram, I am sure it will be just fine with the person who is actually working to produce SOMETHING. For those of you who have never seen the original movie, The Time Machine (Orson Wells), it would be well worth the time (the futuristic outcome of a so-called "utopian society").
We are the Borg. Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated.
And the Tea Party is too extreme!
: P ' ' ,' '
I know, OWS is for everything and for nothing. How can anyone argue with that?
Some folks like SEIU's Stephen Lerner began cooking up the "spontaneous" grass roots movement back in April. Just needed more economic pain to stir the masses. Obama delivered.
TP will always have 11/2010. And then 11/2012. Although elections are of no interest to OWS for whatever reason.
I hope the narrator has a day job because he is as boring and droning as a floor sander though not as useful. This kind of cosmogony is expectable from some Univ of California wombat with a medical marijuana card and complete collection of Grateful Dead albums, replete with tie-dyed tee shirts from every tour.
At least the 60's radicals had the sense to live out their convictions in communes ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. They weren't anarchists, so much as they were idealists. Teach the world to sing. Buy it a Coke. Harmless, and actually revealing to its true believers a bit about how the world really works: people do things for a reward. Altruism is preceded first by abundance. Abundance is preceded by hard work and education.
The Foxfire books were The Source back then, too, along with the Whole Earth Catalog. Now, it seems the newbies have no idea how to survive, how to self-govern, how to make their assemblage count. They are the true, useful idiots of the Left. The New Left thirsts for anarchy to achieve its ends. They just might get it.
Anybody who has seen anarchy up close and personal would do well to warn the children away from it. It's far more evil than war. And they are rushing into its arms.
Scarier than any Halloween Horror fantasy.
The movement is as diverse and multi-generational as we have seen in a long time, and its high approval by most Americans show as much.
Every news paper, every news video shown on TV both at the local and national level show mostly young college age people and very few older people. I would like you to prove by posting a link showing that the Majority of Americans support OWS. I bet you can't because the Majority of Americans think you are a bunch of whiny, spoiled rotten bunch of kids who want something for nothing and think it should be just given to you on a silver platter. The OWS 13 demands proves just that.
Just posted this to my facebook: There's a good reason we do not live in a direct democracy. In a direct democracy, a consensus of the majority is all it takes to remove racial or ethnic minorities from society. (I.e. concentration camps, gas chambers…)
Self Identifying one's gender. As a society, it truly sounds like we have reached the end. How did liberals get so weird? Is it to much drugs?
Lets not leave out the stalking Indieots.
Don't they know that's part of the problem with jobs already today? It isn't so much that all the jobs have left; the US is manufacturing same as it was in the '50s. It's more that so many of the manufacturing jobs that are still here are automated. And, they weep and wail about how there aren't any jobs. I guess that "work is voluntary" bit ain't so true.
I hope you're right. I hope we avoid real revolution all together and simply take over and tell them to go pound sand. The coming European collapse could be a real game changer though.
OOOooo, digging deep to the schoolyard days.
I feel the same way when I read most of the comments here.
Liberals are dangerous because they are evil. This proves it.
http://swampland.time.com/2011/10/13/time-poll-ob...
The survey revealed that respondents have a better impression of the left-leaning protest movement known as Occupy Wall Street than they do of the Tea Party movement. Fifty-four percent of respondents harbor a positive view of the burgeoning protest movement, well above the 23% with a negative opinion. By contrast, just 27% of those surveyed have favorable views of the Tea Party, while 65% say its impact on U.S. politics since its inception in 2009 has been negative or negligible.
Of course, I'm confident that Time is considered a socialist publication by you, so I know all polls are meaningless for you unless they're done by The Heritage Foundation, WND or Drudge or some other conservative group.
Americas future, ladies and gentlemen.
People are tired of preaching ideologies. Especially the three Cs. Orthodox Christian values lost their strength in riotous the '60s. Communism died in the late '80s/early '90s. Now it's capitalism turn.
*yawn* Yes, and early polls showed a positive view of the TEA Party, too. Just wait until the violence gets going with the OWSers and that positive impression will drop like a rock. Americans didn't like the bailouts and that's all that the OWSers' positivity is clinging to; if they start rioting … oh, wait, too late, then people will start seeing them for what they really are.
Why in the hell are people flagging you down? You are DEAD accurate!
Interesting that you vacuaous dumb asses only respond in single sentences and never have any substance.
@ JoanOA There are many of us, now firmly counted in the Tea Party ranks, that formerly were protesting in the 60's. We were 'Trekkies' that loved that idealism; moral independents acting as a team. But as we left high school and/or college, and joined the ranks of private sector workers, a strange and powerful thing happened, we grew up. And realized the compromises required to thrive in a complex system.
Only those that went to live in communes, or took 'anti-competitive' public sector jobs stayed detached from reality stayed stuck in Utopia (or Udopia).
By the 80's we competitive workers were firmly in the libertarian/conservative camp having learned that was the ONLY system that functioned for independents. Plain spoken RR was the result.
Had similarly plain spoken Perot not wandered across the political landscape in the 90's (because the GOP had turned to their socialists RINOS for leadership) Clinton would never had happened.
The Tea Party is in large part comprised of us senior citizens who wised up, backed Perot in the 90's and Goldwater in the '60's. Not all of us protesters got stuck in the 60's. We are now the offspring of the Silent Majority, those that fought and won WW II and fought in Korea.
On this the last Sunday in October 2011, I pray to my Maker that to remove the scales that blinded both Saul and the OWS crowd.
I've been saying this for awhile. American needs to see more of these clowns, they are the epitome of loony left utopia nonsense and 80% of We the People while disavow their actions.
These useful idiots are being used as BACK DROPPING for Hillary Clinton and the like, so by comparison Hillary don't appear to be a radical Lefty.
USSR
Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
a 'soviet' is a 'council', a small group that forms to make a decision
these meetings that direct democracy refers to are council meetings or soviets
OWS is advocating a soviet style system of government
Nothing new
I know I'm not the only one reminded of the years preceding the Spanish Civil War.
