First, opponents of Governor Scott Walker’s budget reforms protested a ceremony honoring Special Olympics athletes. The negative publicity that stunt got them did nothing to give them pause. Now, AFSCME and other liberal protesters decided to picket a business that makes a point of hiring people with special needs, on Thursday. It was to be a day celebrating their success. But to Big Labor, it always has to be about Big Labor.
For a group that yells “Shame!” all the time, it is clear that they have none.

Find your local chapter offices, the union boss' home address or the companies held hostage by SEIU, AFSCME, IBEW, ILWU, NEA or AFL-CIO and bring it to them for a change.

When the Wisconsin House was voting on extending the tax-free status of the Special Olympics, the state house was under siege from liberal protester's who flooded the chambers screaming "shame" when the measure passed. According to union leaders at the time, they did not intend to demonstrate against the passage of the Special Olympics measure, it was a mistake in scheduling. That excuse fell flat on it's lying face when the same group of protester's again targeted the Special Olympic's during a yearly event to honor the athletes simply because Gov. Walker was speaking.
I hope the left continues to show how ugly, mean, intolerant, judgmental, irrational, bigoted, racist etc they really are. The more they talk, the more people move away from the failed policies and beliefs of progressiveness. Sadly the Special Olympic's and others with special needs are fodder in this war.
Gas chambers were used for the "special needs" men, women and children by Thugs such as these.
Too bad we can't turn the table and use them once again on these Thugs. Despicable.
The opening scenes of this video remind me exactly of the old Nazi footage. And I swear I recognize some of the same faces from the protests last winter.

As a parent of a child with special needs I will now refrain from commenting further.
To maintain a proper perspective in todays world ALWAYS think communism when the subject is Unions. I do think Unions are great if one knows they are not going to work hard enough to keep the job and want to insure they make good money and produce as little for it as possible. The problem is …we work we cant call in sick and have the union cover us…which is what they do….i used to be a memeber of the IBEW, I was fired, and the union dropped me faster tham Obama's poll numbers.

I was in IBEW Loc 48 and yes you're right, all of us can't show up but many people do work the swing shift and graveyard, many moms are home makers and many of us work from home and make our own schedules.
I dumped IBEW, they begged me when I quit to take a traveler card, I stuck it in their eye and opened my own LV prewire and communications equipment installation company instead.

I've been forced to use voice recognition software after back surgery 4 months ago that left with severe paralysis in my limb's and finger's. For some reason the software insert's apostrophe's this way and yes, it's driving me crazy. So far I have not been able to figure out how to correct the problem. If you have any idea how to correct the Window's voice recognition standard software I would love to know how.
Don't worry about being picky, before being forced to use this software I was a big time spelling and grammar bitch. It's karma coming back to bite me in the rear.

I walked my first picket at 18 as a butcher. Since then , I have crossed picket lines and picketed as a professional. I have always achieved success more surely in a non-union company. Unions should discipline members to restore professional pride if they expect to shine as an effective organization. The Lord has always given me success at anything I've attempted as an employee. Unions today seem to be a pack of ravenous, rabid crew of destructive individuals.

What's a good pay-rate in this industry? Can a non-profit make $2.9M in profits? (That's the number this Lib-friend is slinging around.) And, is that a necessarily BAD profit?

Shame on AFSCME for protesting at a place that helps our Developmentally and Physically handicapped people. Opportunities Inc. helps with job training so these handicapped young adults can get jobs in our communities and to learn to be independent. This shows how little the Unions care about people and just how much they care about their own pockets. As sad as this is, I am glad that AFSCME and the other Public Unions are showing their true selves, because in the end it only shows the people of this great State the thugs true colors and intent.
It doesn't look like the author of this story or any of the commentors remarking on this story have done any digging to understand what the protesters are actually protesting. The organization that was being celebrated pays its executives six-figure salaries while it pays its workers SUB minimum wage. The working conditions are sodeplorable that the day the Governor was scheduled to arrive for the celebration, workers were sent home for a mandatory day off without pay, so the Governor wouldn't have to see them working in their sweatshop-like environment. The union protesters were there to shed a light on the working conditions and sub-standard pay these poor disabled people were dealing with. The workers had no voice, so the union lent them theirs. I hope that none of your kids ever end up working in a sweatshop like this, where disabled people are paid less than minimum wage — sometimes as low as 11 cents an hour in a factory with no air conditioning, while the executives make six-figure salaries and rake in millions of dollars of profit on the backs of your kids' labor. Those union people weren't protesting against the company's disabled employees. They were protesting the way the company exploits disabled workers. In fact, on the day the Govenor arrived, the disabled workforce was sent home for a mandatory day off without pay so the governor wouldn't see what cruel conditions they work under. The protesters were advocating FOR those people who could have been your children — not AGAINST them.
The workers in that factory earn below minimum wage, some as little as 11 cents an hour. Explain the concept of "stifling wealth" to them and why it's better for the country for them to work in a sweatshop.
If I were a disable person trying to live an independent life with dignity despite my disability I would not want to work for a plant that pas its workers less than minimum age, sometimes as little as 11 cents an hour. If i were working at a place whose working conditions were so rotten that the bosses — who earn six figures — shut down my plant and sent me home without pay so the Governor wouldnt see how third-world my working environment is. I'd be standing there with a sign too. The 'sad and deluded' ones are those among the commanders that think that their fellow human beings deserve to be treated this way by employers, just because they're disabled. Wha the protrudes are protesting is exploitation. And really, Cuba? Are those our only choices? Sweatshops here versus sweatshops in Cuba? Can't we aspire for better things for our fellow citizens, even If they ARE disabled?

And if you would please present all the evidence you have that workers are paid only 11cents an hour under any circumstances and I will personally make it my own battle and I guarantee most of the folks on here will join me. Now I will agree that because of the unions alot of factories have had to go to countries where that wage is probably accurate, they have to stay competitive to stay in business that's what business does.

I always laugh at signs at events like these that say things like "Stop attacks on families." Honoring disabled people = attacking families? That's like saying "Protect the children by paying me time and a half"
Wow…you really have NO IDEA do you? It's not about the money for the mentally disabled. If it were, virtually none of them would be employable. I've worked in the field for almost 20 years preparing md/mr children and young adults to enter the workforce. Many of them can only do jobs that are repetitive in nature, and then still require a facilitator to assist them. Often times, for every special needs employee, an employer needs to hire an non-needs employee as well. (I know I just described the average union job)
You do also realize that almost all of these folks receive a monthly Supplemental Security Income check from the government, don't you? Plus medicaid. They do NOT have to work. But, unlike your normal union member, the WANT to work.
Your first line tells me how much you DON"T KNOW about special needs people. Because of their disablities they live in a different world…but the want to be part of the "normal" world. Unlike you and your union thuggees who live in a different world and don't want to be part of the real world.
