Unions to Erect Tent City Outside Wisc. State Capitol
by Brett Healy
In February, when protests in Madison turned into a three week occupation of the State Capitol, state officials imposed new security measures to protect the staff and lawmakers working in the building.
Since then, there have been sing alongs and the occasional outburst during from the legislative galleries or committee hearing audiences, but nothing on the scale of the boisterous rallies held inside and outside the building this spring.
That’’s all about to change.
The legislature’s Joint Committee on Finance is completing its work on the budget and by Saturday is expected to send the two year spending plan to the full legislature for their review.
The controversial changes in government employee unions’ bargain powers remain tied up in court over a procedural dispute, fueling speculation that lawmakers may pass that plan again, either as a new bill or as an amendment to the state budget.
This has rekindled the liberal organizations who organized much of the activities this spring.
With the security measures still in place inside the Capitol, these organizations are planning a series of events outside the building.
For example, Thursday there was a protest over many education policy reforms that are included in the budget.
Thursday night it was a rally in support of small craft brewers and later this weekend organizers are planning to protest outside of a yet-to-be disclosed Madison area business they claim is dodging the payment of taxes.
However, what is sure to get the most attention is the tent city organizers are hoping to erect outside the West Wing of the Capitol.
Organizers say that starting on Saturday night, tents will start showing up on the Capitol grounds as Walkerville returns. They are even petitioning the city for permission to erect the tens on Madison city sidewalks.
Organizers are hoping for thousands to camp out.
WEAC, the state teachers union announced that :
” A’city’ of tents around the Capitol square calling attention to the devastating state budget cuts to education, health care and other programs benefiting Wisconsin’s working families. The action near the Capitol will begin the evening of Saturday, June 4, at 7 p.m. and will continue throughout the state budget process.”
Labor leaders hope the tent city will become the focal point for activities for the next few weeks as the full legislature reviews and votes on the budget.
Good grief. Vagrancy Chic as Madison, Wisconsin becomes Protest City, USA.

Take note America, the parasite class is giving us another object study. The enemy is inside the wire, come on 2012, it’s getting time to finish the job we started in 2010.
If this is so then charge them the 8 million up front to clean the place up afterwards. I wish I had time to "protest" but those of us who pay these people's salaries do not get the summer off.
May they have the greatest heat wave in the history of heat waves. Why is it when the Libs pass legislation we don't approve of, you never see us showing our a*ses like these wastes of life?
I wonder if it's zoned for tents. Do they have building permits? Do they have all of their paperwork in order?
/Inner Communist oFF
Pass a new bill and shove it down their throats. Choke on that Communist Unions……
Do the Dims have hotel reservations in Rockford yet?
I hear Congressman Weiner will be helping with this mighty erection since he knows all about pitching tents.
Ouch…
*snicker*
Yeah, maybe he can be the long pole in the tent LMAO
Anyone got a fire hose…?
No bathrooms or showers…gonna need it…
And pressure washers…lots of pressure washers…
Mr Healy- you used the word "erect" for a reason here. Could you explain why? I thought so LOL
A hard man is good to find…
I'll pitch in for the pepper-spray canisters. Sounds like they're going to need plenty of "bug spray."
Oh my! All buildings with facilities lock down at a certain time… Arrests for public indecency coming… Of course like the US Postal employee who took a dump in someones yard…. There will be NO PUNISHMENT for the miscreants
Make absolutely no mistake, the war they are trying to start is intended to be very violent and very bloody.
Chairman O and pals will be cheering them on the whole way while simultaneously usurping and willfully undermining the legitimate government of Wisconsin and other states that resist in the process.
They will purposefully put forward a sacrificial lamb to make a martyr of them and then rally around them to justify hate filled bloodshed in their name.
This IS their plan it always has been and they have chosen the battlefield to provoke their socialist war on liberty.
If I was the governor I would excuse the legislature, lock down the capitol and fill the capitol grounds with guard troops to prevent these pukes from getting in.
By default, public safety and civil order trump their thirst for violence and blood.
They think this will be the American version of Cairo or Tripoli, we must make this their Waterloo.
Good vs. evil.
Liberty vs. tyranny.
Americans vs. progressives.
Gather your armies and prepare to defend yourselves from their war on your freedom.
Boycott Toiletpaper companies that sell their poiletpaper in Madison Wisconsin!
Satan's laughing with delight
A bunch of kids, brainwashed and people who really do not care about the school system or America, just about proving a point. I understand it is hard to have a "cause", but the cause should be fighting the Unions, not supporting them.
WEAC should concentrate on educating students, not showing them the future of America if Public Employee Unions have their way.
Maybe they can get Representative Wiener to help in the erection of this tent city?
My apologies, I unknowingly plagiarized your comment.
We have some homeless "Tent Cities" here – Tampa and St. Petersburg. Talk about some FAST County Commissioner Legislation – zipped right on through. These guys are all but drug tested. Our Governor just took care of that – he signed a bill today that requires ALL peeps receiving gov't tit services must be drug tested. He's already being sued on that one. The next bill is supposed to be that ALL State gov't employees are to be drug tested. WI can pass something in the next day or so to either ban them or make their Tent Camp a living HELL.
Judging from the picture, Wiener's not a "big tent" guy. He a shy li'l pup.
Don't think it will help their cause, camping out (because they have summers off) while everyone else goes to work to pay their salaries.
Perhaps this would be a good place and time for some old fashioned Revival Tents as well. Equal tent time or some such thing, just sayin'.
Nobody should have to limbo to get under the big tent…
I'm just sayin…
Dirty, stinkin' hippies. They say they want to save the world, but all they do is smoke pot and smell bad. -Eric Cartman
Who knew that Cartman was so visionary?
What the hell are those hippies gonna do? Throw a veggie buritto at me? Bring it, I say.
Tent city is what unions are all about anyway. People living in tents, paying their union dues and getting nothing in return.
Reminds me of the song, "16 Tons" which contains the lyrics "I owe my soul to the company store." In this case the "company" is the government and the unions.
Adding to what DB523 posted, I would play Christian hymns loud and clear 24/7 aimed at tent city. I would blast sermons to them, hoping to save them from hell. Whatever it takes, Freedom is a double-edged sword.
And maybe the people catering the tenters with food might consider using lots of laxatives in said food. And the porta-potty people could take a few days off….. Let them eat cake….
Amen.
Their plan is very simple, martyrs and propaganda just like in Cairo and Tripoli.
They know the ignorant children and blissful lemmings in the universities will gobble it up and spread the hate to other cities to achieve critical "mass". (see also "Mass Line Theory" and Maoism)
They don't have to make the hot war start in Madison but they need bloody faces for the propagandist media outlets to splatter all over American TV sets.
They would love nothing more than flying Molotov cocktails, burning police cruisers and smoldering buildings for others to use as inspiration on a national scale.
This is precisely what happened in Egypt and Libya and now they want the same to happen here and they'll help it along in any way they can.
They really do despise America just that much.
We already know Chairman O will let them proceed unabated but they are not counting on us.
I don't know if he will actually show up, he's really not a stand up type of guy
Class warfare is the plan. They must divide us more than we are already. It's all for the children and granny after all. Tax those evil rich and big oil companies and don't even think about changing, or in their words, destroy medicare. All scare tactics for weak minds.
Send in MacArthur and the cavalry.
Oh, wait….
Where were these unions when most of the corporations were outsourcing and sending all OUR manufacturing to other countries. When do people wake up and see how these union bosses are just lining their pockets at the expense of the worker. Why would you settle for the scraps, union members?
That's why they planned this little hate fest for the weekend.
They know that very large numbers of participants will show up intoxicated and fuel the stupidity, I wouldn't doubt for one second that the unionistas and commies are actually buying the drinks.
A drunken mob is ten times more dangerous than a sober one and they know it.
They have applied for the permit. It's the same permit for block-parties and festivals that close off streets. It hasn't been approved yet, according to a Milw Journal article filed at 5:54pm today.
http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/123059...
It's time the silent majority surround these misguided and selfish Union members and remind them who is the boss and who has the real numerical advantage.
Water canons…….
It worked during the Viet Nam war..
A pup tent?
People of Wisconsin!
Do you really like being occupied by these cretins?
Vote. them. away.
OMG aman, shades of San Fran low flow toilets in summer issues times tents!!! BTW, I wonder how many porta-potty operations are run by Unionized Progressive Democrats? Any one know? If they are just us crummy small businesses, maybe they could set up one of these "ChipIn" things ( http://www.chipin.com/overview ) , so they could have days off this summer….<snicker> I'd Chip In for that…..
unions = mafia
Sounds more like an intimidation tactic.
The idiots at Obama's "Organize For America," in Chicago don't get it. and are pushing the envelope. America and especially Wisconsin are sick of all of you.
Or a GP itty-bitty
Still thanking their lucky stars that almost half of the ignorant and wilfully ignorant people in this country don't realize they caused it.
Worse.
Legitimate Mafia, nowadays.
They will use their patchoulli oil as a chemical weapon. They will fling their own fecal matter just as lower primates would.
Scuse me…….does the State Gov't have any balz at all?
PERMIT LAWS……ENFORCE THEM.
NATIONAL SECURITY FOR FED JUDGES……ENFORCE THE PATRIOT ACT
CROWD CONTROL LAWS…..ENFORCE THEM
SQUATTER LAWS ON PUBLIC PROPERTY….ENFORCE THEM
TRY THAT IN ANY OTHER STATE. SEE ALL THE LAW ENFORCEMENT THAT TURNS UP TO DISBURSE THAT CROWD!
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE CHICKENS***Z IN WI GOV'T?
I say invest in this stink bomb vials and infiltrate the tent city. Dress like left wing trash and deploy for effect.
Yes Sir!!
Maybe torrential rain in between the heat wave with heavy winds that knock down tents.
I would recommend spraying to kill the parasites so they do not affect others.
There are many crop dusters who would volunteer to crap dust tent city and rid the area of the infestation.
And if that does not work, feed them the German Cucumbers.
I can't wait to see who shows up. Nice weather is finally here and aren't kids done with school for the year? What better way to celebrate and get geared up for summer than to rally for selfish union workers.
I hope they keep "demonstrating" what fools they are.
BooHoo
The crybaby story about how they'll lose their house if they have to contribute to their pension or healthcare plan. Guess what! I might lose my home too if I have to keep giving money from MY PAYCHECK to pay for YOUR pension and healthcare plan. I was layed off and now have a job making half of what I was making and NO benefits ….. health insurance, pension, 401k … NOTHING! I'm just not feeling YOUR pain.
Nahhh….Vegas!
Hope those tents are flame-retardant.
They can stay in their tents after graduation, because all the jobs will be gone. Parasites consuming the host
Good one. How we so easily forget.
Will Cindy Sheehan be there? I have to start looking into cheap flights. haha
Absolutely. This is exactly what I was talking about in my posts to you on another thread.
We don't have to be obnoxious like they are, but we must be seen and heard. Apparently e-mails and letters and phone calls don't seem to be enough anymore.
So yes SURROUND THEM and let them know we are here.
The people in Wisconsin who don't work for the government must be getting damn sick of this lot. I'd be cold-shouldering every union member I knew-even if they didn't go to the demonstrations-as long as there are demonstrations. My kids wouldn't play with their kids. My dog wouldn't run with their dogs. If I met them in a store or restaurant I'd leave and make sure they knew it. I wouldn't buy girl scout cookies or lemonade from their kids. I know some would say why make their kids suffer. I say it would be a kindness in the long run.
Bottom Up, Top Down, Inside Out
Collapse the System
I'm aware and as prepared as I can be.
If they form a drum circle, or worse, a protest concert, we are all lost…
Good! Let them all gather in one place. Take lots of pictures, so that when they break laws, or try to pose as "men/women on the street, their bias may be easily seen.
They need to do what DPS did in Texas when there was a massive protest in favor of a death row inmate. They put the protest area and the restrooms miles apart. Broke that protest up REAL quick.
Re-name their tent city Obamaville.
Do you think they will put up the tents themselves,
or will they hire cheap non-union labor to do it?
Just tase them, bro…
Kinda hard to be the agent provocateur while laying on the ground evacuating waste into your pants…
Single man, too…or will soon be…
I'll bet 60 % of these protestors were raised by mom's in the 60's who followed the advice of Dr. Spock. Anyone remember that book?A blueprint for raising a spoiled, confused "me" personality. Where consideration for other is giving others a chance to bow to "ME!" A blue print for raising a jerk!
I like that idea…put the water far, far away, too…
Anyone for toilet tipping…?
I was just hoping we would have more time before they lit the fuse…
If they want tent cities, all they have to do is go to various areas of the country where "Obamavilles" continue to sprout up.
I read the headline, and thought that the Wisconsin unions were going to try to keep their relevance on life support by showing solidarity with Congressman Weiner.
I thought it was another Weiner joke!
If the "enemy is inside the wire" I say fire the Claymores!
The problem is Police Unions. They know which of the bread has the butter and will not roust the protestors.
To the punk kids with the sign’s that say “what now” over graduation gowns. WTF do you want, a hand out.
How about you get a job, join the military, join the peace corps or most likely go back to your mom’s basement and play video games and blog about how tough you have it. stfu
"What Now?"
How about this.
If you one of the several illegal aliens students seen protesting. Why don't you go back to whatever third world cesspool you came from and help build your own country instead of leaching off us.
They were scratching their collective heads wondering WHY corporations were leaving, never understanding that union demands, confiscatory taxes and expensive, unnecessary, ridiculous government regulations were WHY corporations had to move elsewhere. Corporations weren't "leaving" us…our government and the unions RAN THEM OFF!
Hmmmm….summer camp in Wisconsin? Better have all their permits, sanitation, and hygiene stuff in order. If not, then they will need to be asked to move. The only purpose of this demonstration is to ratchet up the rhetoric and raise tensions. Unfortunately, it may only lead to violence and, who knows, that may be the underlying intent. Hopefully, it won't.
Because most of us have private sector jobs that don't give us months off and bogus doctor's notes excusing us from the actual days we should be working.
"WOT NOW?"
I say WHAT NOW is don't carry on around people who have to work for too long.
Follow the money. Someone has to be paying these individuals or at least supplying them with tents and food.
What now? These people and students need to get on board in the effort to save this country by firing Barack Hussein Obama and all the other Statists who are destroying it.
I'm so glad I don't live in Wisconsin!
Do they have their permits?
Great, we work….they protest…life must be grand.
Heh! Yeah, I think that that's already going on.
What now.
These precious little jerks are like the wall-eyed goofball who bangs away with magazine after magazine and never hits the target. Lot's a noise and Maggie's Drawers.
Guess what? Your target is in Washington, Sweet Pea.
When "Rules for Radicals" by Saul Alinsky (Obama's rule book) is recommended reading on the NEA website you know they are all in it together. We have sedition, led by the President. Read up on Lenin. It took him a long time to figure out the right tweak to cause revolution: class warfare. What these fools don't realize is if the taxpayers pay no taxes because there is no income, they'll have no jobs and no retirement.
I keep saying this but I think it's time to fight fire with fire. Erect a tent city outside the homes of the union leaders. Make their lives as miserable as they are everybody else.
Obama's Organizing for America. That is who paid to bus them in during the winter overrun of the Capitol.
OOOORAH!…where's Calvin Coolidge when you need him!
No.
The cops will actually show up and do something then. Unlike BOA, etc, etc…….
They're Union!
The tent cities need to be set up outside the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. It is the current WH administration that is responsible for the economic decline of our country. These college graduates need to look at the "head honcho" BHO along with the not-so-smart Geitner, Bernanke, and soros for purposely destroying the U.S. economy. These are the people that these graduates MUST protest!!!
We have a booklet out now in print: "Rules for Patriots" Matt Kibbe of Freedom Works
Our Madison Capitol Grounds is owned by the City of Madison.
Hey, tornado season could be starting now, because of the warm Gulf air is coming up here, while the cold Minnesota air is pushing East..
As a T.E.A. Party person, I'm not going there to counter-act their childish behavior. Just keep supporting our good leaders.
I'm hoping they all get set up with their equipments, and God sends in very high winds that blows it all down!.
BTW: There's a big Democratic Convention this weekend in Dntn Milwaukee, with the Big Weiner being a special guest.
And pray the "bad apples" out with Psalms Ch 109. That seems to be working lately.
School's out. Time to bring in the college kids and the school teachers.
Roll the cameras. Just like before, America can get a taste of their reason, civility and articulate message.
Wait….who thought this was a good idea?
Would if they could. They no longer have the votes in the senate, with six of the Republicans facing July recall elections.
Looks to me like they are exercising their right to peaceably assemble. You need to worry more about the vote next month than the few protestors who are law abiding citizens.
So bye bye Miss American Pie…
