Wisconsin Government Accountability Board Okays Three Recall Petitions
by Brett Healy[Madison, Wisc...] At a hearing Monday morning, the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board certified the recall petitions for Senators Olsen, Kapanke, and Hopper.
Some insiders consider these three Senators to be the most vulnerable in a recall election.
At the hearing legal counsel for the three Republican Senators stated the petitions were not valid. The lawyers argued that the individual who signed the statement of intent to recall should also be the person who filed the official recall committee registration paperwork. GAB rejected that argument.
The counsel also attempted to challenge a number of signatures on the petitions. They argued some of the signatures were duplicates, did not include an address, or were added after the deadline on May 2nd. However, even had GAB tossed all those signatures, there would still have been enough to certify the petitions.
Now that the petitions have been certified, GAB will file the petitions between May31st and June 3rd. GAB will also hold a hearing on six more recall petitions on May 31st. Those involve Republic Senators Cowles, Darling, and Harsdorf, and Democrat Senators Holperin, Hansen and Wirch.
The recall elections will then take place on July 12th, unless there are primaries involved. In that case the affected elections will take place on August 9th.

Hopefully the republicans will win a sweep…
Very possible if you think about the elective Judgeship…
The unions have really p*ssed off the people, this could be payback time…
Hoping for a sweep and maybe a pickup from one of the Democratic recalls.
Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the balance of power is in the Wisconsin Senate? How many seats would the Democrats have to win in order to gain control?
Yeah, because Republicans are so much different….
maybe the dems will declare victory before all the votes are counted again.
Well,
actually they are, but the reasons would take forever to explain to you and I would have to use really, really big words like an, the, to, dickhead and pussbucket.
Sorry, I just don't have the time available.
Toodles! Free crayons on the way out.
Ought to have a bunch of Republicans file against the Dems in the recall election primary.
The Dims will, of course spin this as a earth shattering victory (*facepalm*) and blow on and on about a referendum on Walker, Republicans, Reagan, Nixon, Ford, Lincoln, Conservatives, SUV's Incandescent light bulbs,
Global WarmingClimate Change, high rises, Unions, 7 year locusts and crappy MRE's the troops won't eat.At the end of the day? I'll bet you're right.
It looks like it's time to win nine more elections.
Wouldn't it be great to send 3 more democrats packing?
The current Senate make up is 19-14 Republican controlled with 3 of the fleebagging cowards and a possible 9 republicans facing recalls.
if they("r") can pick up only one, and lose none, they don't need and dimwits anymore. could you imagine that?? then the dems can flee to cuba, and nobody would come looking for them.
This can be the death knell of the unions in our state as early projections show one pickup by the GOP in the recalls for a 20-13 majority in th senate. Now if we could get Kloppenwoof to just go away….
The unions are still looking for a fight and the Prosser win and (my prediction) GOP wins should drive them over the edge, I hope. Lock, load and vote.
Facts are not their friends.
Just a big sigh of relief.
No, but they will hit the rack with lies.
The fight in Wisconsin is far from being over. However, the new squealing that will be heard from there, and from Baracky's Chicago, will be the Wisconsin voters sticking pins into the bussed in union thugs that came there to screw things up. Memories are still fresh!
It's all they have, lies. Well, that and personal attacks. It's all they have.
Oh, they also have the daily talking points, but that's all they have.
And, they also have the media to cover for them. But that's all they have. That and an education lacking in logic and history. And a need for government benefits stolen from the people earning and making things possible. But I think they only remember the lies….
They certainly have no shame.
are you not misspelling your last name, is it not Foobar ?
Yes they are different they are Americans, where your side is coward, camel humpers who rig and steal elections.
LMFAO, that was good.
Republicans being recalled for doing their jobs. Democrats crying foul for being recalled for running away from their jobs. How anyone with half a brain can support the liberal agenda, I don't know.
I expect we will see lots of outside money come in to try and grab these seats. I haven't seen any polling but it's always pretty tough to beat an incumbent. Love to see Trumka drop a bunch of union money and lose again.
Keep your fingers crossed, because if we see the dems drop a seat or two, you will actually see liberals heads start to explode just like in Scanners.
Do you actually think about your responses or do you just spew the first thing that pops in your head?
Do you even understand what is at issue?
The attorneys are arguing that the petitions were facially invalid because they violate the law. But the GAB decided to ignore the law.
It not about partisan advantage. It's about the rule of law.
You remember the rule of law? I know you leftist don't care about such trivial things. But you must have heard about it.
If the Republicans end up gaining seats out of this recall, HuskyLurvsBarry'sOdor is simply gonna die from apoplexy…
Anybody bringing popcorn…?
I live here…if the GOP loses the majority….I'll eat my hat….
That would be pretty cool!
Republicans need to do the responsible thing and sue the GAB. Wait! That's the lib's solution when things go awry!
..and the taxpayers foot the bill…again…
I don't believe it will happen but if it does the hardware stores are going to run out of pitchforks and torches. Go Randy Hopper, screw the unions.
I live here. Most of the seats are in secure districts except one from each Party. It will be important to drag people to the polls.
More Wissconsin news. Herman Cain won the GOP straw poll here last week-end.
Also: The Senate Judiciary Committee will vote on a revamped version of a bill scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. It would allow people to carry concealed guns without registering with the state, but would also allow them to get optional permits that would allow them to carry weapons closer to schools.
:::hands out popcorn and beer::::
This show should keep me from boredom until football seas…oh wait…I can't remember, will there be a season this year?? *snort*
I want to believe that the good people of Wisconsin are savvy enough to support their governor, GOP legislature, and vote the right way to rid themselves of the inside, and outside evil. that are destroying them.
)
Once you leave Moscow er Madison and Milwaukee, most of this state is center right…
The Unions are gonna have a very bad year…
Well, which political party FLED to a Chicago RESORT while the other tried to resolve the state's debt and difficulties?
In other words, which political party REFUSED to do its JOB in Wisconsin?
That's what I'm hearing too. On the other hand, in Illinois all but two counties went to Brady and Quinn still won with only two counties.
Even if the recalls are successful, those who were being recalled would just drag the matter in court for years which will in turn waste time and waste taxpapyers' money.
Turn around is fair play so in reality, this is an excellent idea!!!
That would be ironic? The dims open the outhouse door and end up falling in. Hahahahahahahahahahehehehhaha.
It does boggle the mind.
Only in an effed up world can senators leave the state, pass on their responsibility to serve and vote, and the party whose members do their jobs are involved in a recall.
With this recall will the dems leave the state again because they afraid to loose…
Maybe they should campaign out of state…
Madison, WI is a Socialist City surrounded by Reality. Is our Voter I.D. law in effect yet?
They plan to steal the elections.
All the Republican party has to do is bring the union busting bill up for another vote. What is taking so long? Oh, could it be they are concerned they just might not be senators for much longer. I still say Walker will make a great vice-presidential candidate because he will be out of a job in 2012. Finally, the tally appears to be 6-3. Scoreboard.
I hear ya, pix…
why bring Terrell Owens into the discussion? Is he going to Green Bay to play for the Packers?
I can't WAIT to see you explode…!
We're already planning to hand out popcorn and beer, and I hope to get a good seat…don't wear a hat, it'll spoil the effect…
I've been hearing about DIMocRATS losing even more seats, which would be even better…throwing a recall election, and the throwers being the ones thrown…
Score that…
Dream on, HLB. No liberal will win any HONEST election in Wisconsin ever again after the a$$es the unions made of themselves this past Spring.
*snicker*
Just look downthread on the postings…HLBO is as constant as venereal disease…
I don't think he knows his college support team won't be at camp for the election…
Its going to be like seeing Gallagher…and sitting in the front row….
Please, don't take away HuskyLurvsBarry'sOdor's dreams…!
He ever got a reality clue, he would move up into the high mountains and write rambling manifestos on a L3 Smith-Corona portable…
If you are a Republican in Wisconsin and you allow,….
precinct polls in Madison and Milwaukee on election day,….
to go unattended,….
you are part of the problem.
The only recalls should be the Democrats who failed to uphold their oath of office to do the peoples business. That was Abuse of Power if I ever saw it. Go Gov. Walker! and thank you for being a role model for American justice!
Well, if the Repubs don't feel that the board followed black letter law, then they have a case and should pursue it. That didn't work out too well in Alaska when Joe Miller sued; from my view point the Alaska courts ignored the black letter law and made things up as they went along. The concept of 'rule of law' is on life support, if not actually dead.
Never fear, a union is a union is a union and as we draw near to this election we'll no doubt be blessed with video and sound clips from the ongoing crimes, intimidation and thuggery committed by the lower half, this will serve as a reminder why the left wing is trash. Kloppenburg defeat is just a taste of the country's attitude towards these tyrannical, corrupt bottom feeders.
Walker signs it into law this week, I think. It won't go into effect until the 2012 elections, though, so these recall elections will be interesting.
The Randy Hopper recall in the Fox Cities is already corrupt and the organization behind it is being investigated for fraud. In fact, the entire petition might be invalidated. People's names have been forged on the recall petition, a fact that was brought to light by an Oshkosh resident who viewed the petition and saw his name, address, and signature on it. Funny thing is that he is a Randy Hopper supporter. So it's the usual bag of tricks up here in this insane state. Jessica King, Hopper's opponent, is about as charismatic as a sack of potatoes, and her supporters know it, which is why they are trying their best to steal this one.
One more thing – only two recall elections have ever been successful in Wisconsin, both for gross misconduct in office. Randy Hopper is guilty of supporting his Governor and casting a vote in favor of Gov. Walker's "union busting" bill. That's it. This is why the spiteful thugs organizing the recall petition are trying to bring his personal life into it. Hopper is divorced, you see. He had an affair years ago. Gasp! The Horror! Don't you just love the selective morality of the left?
Oh come onnnnn pnipni,….???
that argument is wayyyyyyyy to logical.
If turnabout really were fair play, then the GOP would be attacking Dem petition drives, breaking in and stealing their signatures, using tax-funded public equipment to impede them, and issuibng death threats 24/7.
Why would they bring the bill up for another vote? There is no bill. Governor Walker stripped the financial portion of the bill out, which negated the need for quorum in the state senate. The important provisions of the bill were passed in committee. And with Prosser beating the fake Wisconsinite Kloppenburg, these provisions will withstand challenge. It's called strategy. It's called being outfoxed by a political opponent you consider intellectually inferior. Accept it and move on.
At least they didn't run and hide like pussies. Give it a rest dude. Your ilk has failed, EPIC FAIL.
Go tell it to the judge.
I agree with you completely. The people have spoken: 6-3. Scoreboard.
Yes and the fact Obama carried it in a landslide was completely due to ACORN. Now go back and take you pills before reality sets in.
I guess we'll all see just how strongly Wisconsin feels about whether they want their lives run or they want to run their lives.
Which judge,….????
the one that won or the one,…….
you (scoreboard wrongly) wished had won.
I'm simply drawing on 2008 as a warning for the next round. Americans must never forget that lefties are liars and cheats. After all, anyone who can find it within his black, shriveled heart to defend teachers' has no morality of any sort.
Write this down Bo,..
CERTIFICATION is a parliamentary procedure and,……..
VOTING is when "people have spoken" and,….
this happens on July 12.
In the meantime,….hold on to your scoreboard.
"Kloppenwoof"
OMG, ROTFLMAO!
Thanks for that!
No, the one the case is in front of. Say, by the way, I never predicted she would win prior to the election because it is very rare to defeat a seated judge and she almost did.
Care to place a little bet on it, Ralph?
6-3 HAHA yeah and Obama is a pro-American capitalist. Huskers you have no proof and no credibility, you've lost it long ago. Now your only a source of entertainment for us, you come in dance for us and make us laugh with your great jokes. "Duhh the tally appears to be 6-3." lol If you want to know the truth come here to these districts where the republicans are facing recalls, you'll find only one is really vulnerable. One the flip side though all but one dem is vulnerable, so come recall elections we could be looking at 7 republican wins and 2 losses. This isn't based on the propaganda you read or your fantasies but from the people here in Wisconsin. So b***h, whine, and complain all you want it won't change reality. The reality is Kloppy lost, the unions lost and now the Dems will loose. Next time you want to have a discussion about the races here maybe you should base it on what the majority of the people here have to say, not what union thugs and bias news sources have to say.
Have a nice day
No proof and no credibility? HMMM. Let's see. The Dow is above 12,000 and the Republicans could only recall 3 senators. Tough to argue with the facts. Oh, and by the way, all the Republican senate needs to do is simply reintroduce the bill and meet the requirements of the open meeting law and the lawsuit is moot. I wonder why they have not reintroduced the bill. Could it be they no longer have the votes?
Reminds of some of the late-great RM Nixon's school boy pranks..
Compared to Klinton (amateur criminal) and oDumbAss (professional criminal), Nixon truly was a choirboy!!
I'm so happy that you approve Ralph! I couldn't help myself.
"………Care to place a little bet on it…."
Sorry Bo.
Used to do a lot of…… "Care to place a little bet on it"…….circa 68 / 70.
been on the wagon ever since,……can take you up on your invite.
So, again, hold on to your scoreboard and,……
we'll each hold on to our money, besides,………
it's not moral to bet on people to do the wrong thing.
The defeat of JoAnne Kloppenburg gives me hope that there are enough good, common sense people in Wisconsin to bump the left out.
